"You? Overslept? Are you feeling okay?" Emily joked, laughing as she nodded, moving closer to him. "Well, you deserve a day off. I'm sure you haven't had one in...well, ever." And although she was joking, she knew she was probably right. "No, no, it's okay, I'm about finished anyways. What happened was horrible, and it's not something that I'll forget, but at some point you have to move on," she explained, gesturing to the space around her. "This was part of moving on." She was no longer a frightened little lamb waiting to be slaughtered and she wasn't going to live her life like she was. Abruptly, she turned to him, her green eyes lit up. "Since it's your day off and all, we should do something, take advantage of it."

Brayden gritted his teeth, balling his fist up when he realized that Callie was getting ready to cry. She wasn't the type to cry for every little thing and he knew how frustrating this situation was for her. He felt like crying himself. Then he thought about that monster upstairs, trying to disguise itself as him. That was not him, nor would it ever be. He needed to protect Callie, and he'd do so no matter the cost. He floated up, entering their bedroom, looking at the beast laying on it. By the way it smirked at him, he knew it could see his every movement. Without another word, he pounced on it, trying to strangle it to death. It might kill him, but so be it. At least that thing couldn't hurt his Callie.
