Haruka's eyes fluttered open as she woke up, sitting upright in her bed and stretching her arms out over he head. A yawn left her lips as she stretched, rubbing her eyes tiredly. Yesterday had been a long day that only seemed to drag out longer than it should have. Haruka had found out yesterday that she was going to be kicked out of her apartment soon because she had been missing payments and her landlord wasn't having any of that. Not that Haruka was surprised, really, she had seen it coming. She was in major debt and owed a lot of money, which didn't help her current living situation out. Now she needed to find a new job and get money fast, and figure out where she was going to live exactly. At her last decent job she had gotten layed off along with a bunch of other people for some reason she didn't know, just something about newer people being let go before people who had been there awhile. Throwing the blanket she had wrapped around herself off her body Haruka stumbled her way to her bathroom and stripped down so she could get into the shower. Turning the knob, she let out a loud yelp when cold water met her body, groaning as she remembered she didn't pay the water bill either.

Kida was walking home after school with his best friend Mikado, talking back and forth about the movie they had just watched last night. It had been a new one, some movie with Shizuo's brother in it. Of course it was some sappy romance movie, but Mikado and Kida had promised Anri to go see a movie of her choice after the two boys had dragged her to see some action movie. Who would of thought their friend Anri would be into movies like that, though? Ones with such a sappy plot line and angst everywhere. Not that it was entirely surprising, she was a girl after all and most women loved to watch those kinds of movies. But what surprised him even more was that he himself enjoyed it, but he kept that thought to himself. "Last night was fun," he commented to Mikado, a slow smirk turned the corners of his lips up. "I saw you try to wrap your arm around Anri's shoulder, too. Decide to take my advice for once, you casanova?" He teased, laughing when Mikado's face turned bright red as he stuttered.

Shizuo slid his sunglasses on and made his way out the door, looking around. He was supposed to meet Tom outside, but he wasn't entirely certain of where they were going. He knew what they'd be doing, considering he had gotten used to this job and what it entailed. Outside, Tom was indeed waiting and Shizuo made his way over. "Are you ready to go?" Tom asked with a quirked eyebrow and Shizuo offered a subtle nod in response. "Good, let's go," Tom decided as he began walking. He didn't discuss the details of the job; Shizuo was only there as a bodyguard, after all. Of course, that didn't necessarily mean that he didn't get a bit out of control on occasion - it wasn't something that he liked, at all, but it wasn't something that he could control. He just got angry and his body acted on its own. The walk to the destination didn't take too long and Shizuo glanced up at the building before he followed Tom up. Upon reaching the right apartment, Tom looked over to Shizuo. "What?" Shizuo asked, only for Tom to lift his shoulders. "Just making sure you're ready," Tom answered simply before he knocked on the door; better to try to be polite first, Shizuo assumed, but sometimes understanding people was beyond him.
Kumiko wanted nothing more than to go home. That wasn't allowed, though, according to her father. It's dangerous here, he had told her before he sent her off to Ikebukuro. And, it was; she could accept that. After all, only a month prior, her mother had gotten killed by a rival of her father's. Was she next? That's what her father had thought. He gave her enough time to grieve before he sent her here; he even went through the trouble of enrolling her in school, though she wouldn't start until the next day. With a sigh, she decided that she could at least wander the streets of Ikebukuro, get to know the city as much as possible. Figuring that she could unpack later, she made her way out of the apartment her father had gotten for her and made her eat outside. All she needed to do was remember how to get here, try to avoid getting lost; she was certain she could manage that, though. She was her father's daughter, after all. She may not have inherited his desire to have power, but she had inherited his observation skills. No reason to put that to waste, especially when it helped a lot. "Alright, let's do this," she muttered to herself before she started walking.

Haruka had just stepped out of the shower and put on a pair of jeans and a t-shirt and was in the process of putting her damp hair up in a messy bun when she heard a knock on her front door. Who could be knocking on her door this late in the afternoon? Praying that it wasn't her landlord saying she had to get out now, she padded to the front door and opened it without bothering to look through the little peephole, surprised to see a man in a suit and one in a.. bartenders outfit? Looking skeptically at both men, she kept her fingers on the doorknob just incase this went south. "Um.. can I help you guys?" Haruka finally asked after clearing her throat awkwardly, eyeing them both nervously. Well, at least the blonde one was kind of cute... No! What the hell was she thinking, he was some stranger knocking at her door. Maybe they were tourists looking for a hotel or something? Ikebukuro did get a lot of people coming through, so maybe they were one of them. These two men were dressed kind of nicely, so maybe they were business men of some sort? Well, except for the guy in a bartender looking outfit.

The pair of friends were making their way through the streets of Ikebukuro to get to their homes when Kida's eyes caught a very pretty girl wandering the streets. "Hey, she's pretty cute." Kida commented out loud, nudging Mikado with his elbow. A head nod and a small 'Yeah,' was all Kida got but he wasn't really paying much attention to Mikado right now. This girl looked around their age, maybe she went to school with them? No, he had never seen her roaming the halls of their school.. maybe she was a new student? Oooh~ that was exciting! The last new kid they got was Mikado, and this one was a girl! A super cute one at that. "Maybe she's new. Mikado, we have to help her out! This could be my chance at romance~." And before his friend had the chance to stop him, Kida was grabbing Mikado's arm and dragged him down the sidewalk until they approached this very cute girl, tapping her on the shoulder. "Excuse me, Miss, me and my friend here were just wondering if you were new around here? I happen to know these streets very well, maybe I could show you around?"

Both Shizuo and Tom were surprised to find that a woman had answered the door and the two exchanged a look, pure confusion and shock written on their features. But, then, Shizuo tried to reason that, just because a woman answered didn't mean that she was who they were looking for, right? No need to jump to conclusions. Why would an attractive woman need loans, anyways? Maybe that was a misconception on his part, but he tried not to think about it. Once Tom recovered from his initial shock, he cleared his throat and nodded. "Yes, we're looking for Haruka Kurosawa. It seems the individual owes a debt and I and my friend, Shizuo, here are here to collect it," he said, hoping that the term wouldn't frighten the woman off; if they didn't collect the debt, that wouldn't be a very good reflection of the company. Shizuo stuffed his hands in his pockets, trying to remain as calm as he could, though he was a bit impatient. His usual mantra of Kill, kill, kill, was already running through his head, but he tried to contain that. "Just tell him to get out here already. We don't have all day," Shizuo muttered, fists clenched in his pockets in an attempt to contain his already growing anger.
Kumiko had almost immediately tensed up at the feeling of somebody tapping her shoulder. Surely, her father's rivals couldn't know that he had sent her here, though, right? She only turned when she heard the voice, blinking slowly as she took in the two boys presented in front of her. Just because they were around her age didn't mean that they were dangerous, though, she reminded herself, even if one of them was kind of, sort of, maybe cute. "Ah, is it that obvious?" she asked, offering a smile in hopes of seeming normal. She was supposed to be normal here, after all; maybe she'd get to have a normal school life with normal friends, instead of only being friends with other kids who were related to members in her father's gang. Trying not to let that hope sink in too much, she rubbed the back of her neck, a bit nervously, and grinned. "I'm not sure. I mean, it looks like you two just got out of school, so you probably have homework, right? If it's not a problem, I wouldn't mind, but..." But she didn't want to be a hassle, especially to people she didn't know - and she still wasn't sure if these two were of any actual threat to her as of yet.

Haruka knew this was going to catch up to her someday if she didn't pay the debt off quickly. And now, here she was, standing in front of the two men that were here to collect it from her. The blonde one was kind of scaring her a bit, was he going to beat her up if she couldn't pay the bill? It was then she realized that they didn't know it was she that owed the money. Mentally she cursed her parents for giving her a unisex name. Her heart was racing and her hand that was holding the door was shaking. Swallowing thickly, she rubbing her forehead with her free hand. "T-that's me. I'm Haruka." She finally said, fear gripping at her heart. What was going to happen to her now that she owed them this money that she couldn't pay back right now? Haruka couldn't pay this money back, not yet anyway. And she didn't know how debt collecters worked but she was pretty sure they weren't too kind when they found out someone couldn't pay them any money. "I can't.." She started off, feeling tears well up in the corners of her eyes, but her pride stopped them from falling down her cheeks. "I can't pay that off right now, what the hell am I going to do?" She whispered, groaning softly. She was so done for..

    --

Kida smiled smoothly. "No, it's not problem at all my dear!" He said, waving a hand casually. It was true he did have some homework to do, but that could wait until later on tonight. Right now he had the chance to show a very pretty lady around the town and he was going to do that! No way was he passing this oppertunity up and have some other guy snatch it up. "This is my friend Mikado Ryugamine, and I'm Kida Masaomi!" He said, gesturing over to his friend beside him before holding his hand out. "And just who might you be?" Kida heard a scoff beside him, peering over at his friend from the corner of his eyes and giving him a small glare before returning his gaze to the girl in front of him.

Okay, so Shizuo's assumption was wrong. Attractive women could be in debt. But, he couldn't bring himself to attack her like he normally would, even with his anger fuming. This was a woman, after all. He hated violence ebough already; beating a woman up would just make him feel like the monster that Izaya always tried to make him out to be. Tom seemed to notice the conflict within Shizuo and he let out a sigh; he knew Shizuo better than anybody, after all. "Well, let's make a deal, shall we?" Tom suggested, eyeing the woman for a moment before he looked to Shizuo, "How about she works with us to pay off her debt?" Admittedly, Shizuo wasn't surprised that Tom was trying to compromise, but he was surprised that he was suggesting something like that. "You sure that's a good idea?" he asked, but it wasn't like he would complain, "I don't know, ask her. She's the one you're making the offer to." Shrugging, Tom looked at Haruka and sighed. "What do you say, then, hm?" he asked.
My dear? Kumiko repeated the words in her mind for a long moment, trying to avoid being too amused with it. It wasn't often that she heard people saying things like that around her, but it was a bit... endearing? Flattering? She couldn't place the right word, but she smiled nonetheless and nodded. Hearing him introduce himself and his friend, though, she quickly bowed politely, as she had grown up doing. "My name is Kumiko Yuki," she introduced herself before standing back up straight and grinning, "It's nice to meet you both and I appreciate your offer to show me around." At least it would help her get used to the city quicker, she decided. "You can lead the way, if you don't mind."
