Despite the title, this isn't just about seeing a smaller number on the scale. Its about improving your overall health. Its about powering through your week with better choices and seeing results, no matter how small. Its about looking at yourself in the mirror and being happy with yourself every single day.

Discuss your health/weight goals, how you plan on changing your diet, the types of exercises you're going to try out, or seek advice.

In case anyone wants to look at the last two threads: 2013 | 2014
In 2014 I went from 163 lbs to 140.8, so a total of 22.2 lbs lost. I haven't really noticed a difference. I really only used an elliptical and walked during the summer. I didn't use weights or any form of toning workouts. I can somehow get into 5/6 pants rather than 7/8. I also became a vegetarian for personal reasons, so that might have helped cut fastfood cravings. It also helped me become aware of ingredient labels.

I'm hoping get around the 120-110 range, it all depends on how the weight sits on me. I've taken pictures at 154 pounds (in a bikini) so when I get around my desired range I might post a before and after picture.

A resolution this year was to do 30 day challenges, and my first challenge just so happened to be one revolving around fitness~ for the past 9 days I've been doing sit ups, push ups, leg raises, planks and squats. Cbf to link to the images that tell me how many sit ups, push ups, etc to do a day, but paired with cardio, they appear to be doing me well. I'm one of those people whose fat is basically all in their stomach/love handle area. I'm overall fat everywhere, but it's most definitely my "mid section" I have issues with.

I use the LoseIt app. IMO it's the best thing I've ever downloaded. I can easily track my calories consumed and burned, along with my weight.

And with that, feel free to share a little bit about your goals/successes/failures/etc tehe I hope everyone has a healthy new year and reaches their goals! Just remember to make smart, attainable goals and to stick with it. A ten minute workout is better than a zero minute workout. Little steps lead to big changes.

ah, finally a new thread for fitness.

well, in 2014 i was around 125-127 & weighed myself the other day. dropped down to 119. wanted to be @ around 110-115 (since the doctor said it was a perfect weight concerning my body structure/height etc) but i guess that's what this year is for. i went from a size five to a size three (pant size @ jcp) as per the other stores, i can fit into a one so i'm rather proud.

i've been having issues w/ my mid-section too. i've been so busy that i haven't made a workout/eating schedule, but finally managed to finish it! i'm starting tomorrow since, hey why not. i decided to re-use myfitnesspal app but i'll check out the loselt app that you rec'd. hey, the more the merrier.

while i don't have an elliptical (just a simple based treadmill), i've been deciding to get a gym membership now that i work & get paid in full. mmm, also decided to start eating more healthier - lowering my carb intake.

i've wanted to do the thirty day challenge. maybe will start during the month of feb & actually keep up w/ it. for this month i guess walking around on the treadmill for an hour will suffice.

Last Decemeber, I weighed close to 210 lbs, dropping down to 180 by the time school started in August. Gradually gained back 5 lbs and probably 5 more over Christmas vacation. Food, food everywhere...

My eventual goal is 160; I think that's a healthy weight due to me just being built bigger in bone and muscle. I'd like to make it into the single digits of pants size(I can currently get into 11/12).

First off, I want to cut quite a lot of junk food out. I have an addiction to chips and chocolate with little to no self control when I get my hands on them. I don't want to cut chocolate completely out, but help control my appetite for it and take it in small amounts. I plan to start a low(er) carb diet starting this semester and try to focus on a more clean way of eating(meats, vegetables, fruit, nuts, and dairy like cheese, milk, yogurt, and cottage cheese). I'm not interested in low fat and also hope to get back on MyFitnessPal to help document my calorie intake.

For exercise, I would like to be able to run, but my hip locks up and knees protest rather violently later. I might just do a little jogging, mostly speed walking. Zumba, dance workouts, elliptical, ab workouts, swimming, and maybe some weight lifting are other hopes. Its hard for me to stick without if I don't have someone pushing me as well as being busy with a job and school work.

I'm really really hoping that I can make this work this year. I was so close to my goal and I want it, but with my lack of self control and tight schedule make it hard. Let's make 2015 a successful year!

Plus, Miss Ali's body is my dream body:

But...I Found out Im pregnant so my goals will be different. But I very much intend to stay in shape as safely as possible through out my pregnancy so post baby weight will be easy to shed.

My goal is to lose weight but I have not set an official amount because I haven't weighed myself in a long time (I'm too afraid too, honestly).

I bought myself a Jawbone UP bracelet that tracks my steps and sleep, and I use that with the app (where I can also track my caloric intake) everyday. I have a goal on the app of 7500 steps a day, which I've been meeting almost everyday of the week - weekends are not as active for me, so I have trouble meeting the step goal then, but that's something for me to work on.

I started making a conscious choice to eat and live healthier after Christmas break ended, so for the past month or so I've been watching what I eat (mostly eating fruits, vegetables and meat, though I haven't been cutting calories too much for fear of going overboard like I have in the past); I've also been making extra trips up and down stairs when I can, and walking when I don't have anything else to do. I'm also taking a yoga class through my college.

I don't know if I've been making any progress in the last month, but I've been feeling pretty good and I feel like that's an important part of being healthy.

Any progress so far since I took forever to get back::facepalm? Also do you have certain carb goals?

    @ Xia;
How have you been doing so far?

    @ Saul Hudson
Well that's fair enough. Are there any certain things you want to improve health wise?

    @ Irie.
Congratulations! Weird I'm not 100% sure if I'm recalling this correctly, but I believe I heard light yoga is one of the best ways to shape up/stay in shape during pregnancy.

    @ Name Of Misery.
As long as you're feeling happy with the steps you're taking. Like that's what I find motivates me the most. Well it's been 15 days since you posted that, have you taken any different approaches to what you said about inactive weekends?
After I hit 139 in August I evolved into a slug. A glutton of a sloth XD I tried a few times to get back into a healthier lifestyle but I wasn't feeling the best mentally/emotionally the last three months. I took a break from everything I loved and I started up a healthier diet and added in a workout routine.

I'm actually trying out this diet call keto.. or ketone diet, not sure what it's real name is. It's basically where you eat 25/20 grams of carbs (recommended), moderate protein, and a high percent of fat. Basically your body relies on fat rather than carbs. It's kind of challenging, honestly. You can't really eat fruit or normal sugar. And as a vegetarian it makes it even harder for me because I can't eat essentially carb free meat lol all the soy products have carbs in them.

I'm doing a really poor job explaining it, honestly. If anyone's into this or wants to know about it just let me know and I'll link you to reddit or w/e. For all you meat lovers: this is the diet for you lmfao

I've lost the five pounds I gained over break, back to 185, 184.5. I haven't been tracking my calories the last couple days bc I've been busy and stressed and food=comfort. Unfortunately. -.-

Don't beat yourself up too much, you already lost those five pounds again. Ah, yeah, I hear you. Maybe you could find healthier versions of your favorite comfort foods, unless you've already done that XD

    @ Irie.
Well... yeah, that sounds like a struggle lmfao
Just got done with a 450-500 calorie workout mrgun I'm feeling great lately, but I can never sleep? Last night I was in bed by 10 and didn't even feel sleepy until 11. And then I woke up at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep. It's really odd. I've never had issues sleeping, lately at least, and there wasn't anything on my mind. The only thing I can think of is my change in diet, but I don't get caffeine from anything I eat... lmfaomrgun

Does anyone have any toning/weights workouts they love + see results from? I need to really get into shape, not just lose weight, before July/August Facepalm I have some months so I might as well start now for best results

Oh man, oh man. So I posted in this thread last year but then I did fuck-all about it. This year I've actually done stuff about it. Mostly like 15 - 30 minute workouts at home. But I'm planning on going to my compound gym to run some time this week, and see if I can't figure out the machines there.

I also want to get into weightlifting, only I'm kind of scared of doing anything that's not running at gyms, and I don't know that my compound gym has a bar and plates or anything. I may have to join another gym nearby to do that, but membership is on the expensive side. :S

My motivation is my senior trip! I'm going to Ko Samui, so I want to get my tummy relatively consistently flat before then. And also to get stronger, haha.

Last time I weighed myself in the summer I was around 55kg (just converted, that's like 121 pounds?), but in the winter I was at 60kg (~132 pounds, including my clothes, though, which makes for an inaccurate count). I usually drop back down to the ~55kg range in the summer, although I haven't weighed myself recently and right now I'm bloating from the wonderful cycle that is the period. Facepalm

Congrats on starting the year off right! Cute I'm not too sure what a compound gym is, but maybe you could ask someone there to help you with weights? Also when is your trip? tehe
Since Tuesday I've lose 3.4 pounds. I'm guessing this is mostly water weight, but I'm still happy to know keto is working. I've stayed below 25 net carbs since Tuesday as well, which is pretty cool.

AHHH I swore I responded to this but Mibba stopped loading for me :/

Ooh, okay so here we call a gated community (is that the right word? Basically a suburb within a gate within a city) a compound bc it's almost the same but not quite. Yep. But the gym in my compound is a bit sketchy, so there's that, unfortunately. I want to have proper form if/when I do start weightlifting, hehehe. My trip is in early June! I've got me a good few months to get into this working out shindig. Yes

    --

In other news, I'll probably be checking out the gym some time either on Friday or Saturday. tehe

So, since the 25th of February I've lost 8.2 pounds (I'm sure it's 75% water weight) and 1.3 inches off my stomach. Cool I guess lol never realise how tracking my inches could motivate me so much!

Oops, I meant to update here but UM went to sketch gym (which, real talk was pretty sketch) bUT nobody was there so I got to fuck around with the weights and stuff. Did lots of leg stuff, which was nice. I've been doing a bit of like bodyweight stuff just in my house on a yoga mat, and (I think) I can see some improvements!!! Ayyyyyy.

Today I did some (a lot of) ab stuff, which I think I'm gonna regret tomorrow if I want to laugh, and I laugh a lot. Facepalm

Well, it's been a few months since I started tracking my steps and I feel like it's been pretty good for me.

I've continued to make conscious efforts to increase my step count; my Jawbone app on my phone gives me notifications throughout the day, letting me know how many steps I've done/how many miles I've walked. Knowing how many steps I've done really helps me because I feel the need to meet my goal (which is about 7500 steps per day).

I walk during my break from class a few times a week, so I end up taking ~10,000 steps in the middle of the day, which is awesome if I end up wearing good shoes.

I haven't weighed myself yet this year (I'm still pretty scared to look tbh) but I feel like I've been doing well and when I look at myself, my legs look more toned.

My next goal to add to my step goal is biking for at least 1 hour, 3 times a week (the days I don't have yoga). I feel like this will help a lot since I'll basically be doubling my weekly exercise.

Another kind of goal I have is just to lose some weight before I go to the doctor for my physical in June... I'm trying not to let it be my main focus, though, because I feel like if I get obsessed with my weight/what I think my weight is, it could be a bad mindset for me.

    -

I've been letting my eating habits slip back into the unhealthy zone, so I'm trying to get that back to normal.

Sorry for the super late reply XD but good job! Weird Keep up the good work! Are you still seeing results?

    @ Miles Away
Welcome to the thread! Hey, it's never too late to start improving your health/fitness levels. Yay for seeing another vegetarian! Weird IMO it makes it 10x easier to cut out junk food. I mean what exactly can we eat at fast food restaurants (especially after McDonald's announce their use of "natural beef flavoring" in their fries 2 Guns)? I know this isn't much coming from someone younger than you (also someone who doesn't go to a gym) but just relax at your gym. Everyone's there to improve their well being. I'm sure they're more likely to be happy to see a new face. And if they're rude or harassing? Report them ASAP. No one needs that BS while they're trying to improve themselves. I hope you see some awesome results soon~ Cute

    @ Name Of Misery.
Long time no see~ tehe Awesome job on tracking your steps. I think I should invest into something like that too Facepalm When you meet that goal of biking an hour 3x a week let us know Weird Hm, I do agree that you shouldn't become obsessed with your weight. Even if you don't weigh yourself before your doctors appointment, just remember how much healthier in general you've been. That's something I think we all need to better realise. Just because the scale hasn't changed much or the way we wanted it to doesn't mean our efforts were pointless.
Well, I saw an awesome number on the scale in the beginning of the week. I was 134.2 so eh. Not too shabby. I'm 4.2 pounds away from the original goal I made January 2014. Lately I'm just losing sight of my goals. I dabbled in keto (never again will I do that, but I did learn a lot) before going back to my usual routine. It's been a struggle though. I have no motivation to workout, especially with this lovely below freezing weather still where I am. These past two days were soooooo bad with eating. But eh, I'm going to readdress myself today. I need to figure out a new workout routine. Just using my elliptical doesn't seem to be working anymore, so I guess I'm going to need to add in some weights and real running. As for my diet, ah, I have no idea what's going on with it lately. I know for a fact I need to get more of my carbs from vegetables + eat way less grains. So I guess I'll start there... My goal is to be 130 by the middle of May, and I need to weight lift 3x a week every single week of May.
