We Found Love Right Where We Are

(Sorry if this outright sucks. Also, I wasn't sure if you wanted them all to know each other or what, so I left that open for the possibility, in case.)

Michael stopped at his locker, rummaging through his things. His eyes went in search of Abi, as they usually did, but he couldn't spot her yet. Once he gathered what he needed, he shut his locker and leaned back against it, a sigh escaping his lips. Honestly, he hoped she hadn't gotten into trouble again. He adored the girl and always helped her when she needed it, but he didn't want her to get hurt or anything.

Mia chewed on her lip as she entered the school building. Her boyfriend had broken up with her the night before after she caught him cheating and all she really wanted to do was break down. She tried to be strong, though, mostly because she didn't want to worry her best friend, Luke. Then again, he always seemed to know when something was wrong. The last thing she wanted to be was a burden on him, but he was her best source of comfort.

Abi walked into the building with her friend Cheyenne and she talked with her about the party going on that night at their friend Danny's house. Abi knew that Danny would end up having a hell of a party and she didn't want to miss it. She walked passed Michael to go to her locker, "Hey Michael." She said sweetly before she opened her locker and got out her books she needed for her English class. She smiled over at her neighbor and then waved at him before she walked down the hall with Cheyenne towards English, "I don't understand why you talk to him. He's one of those punk kids." Cheyenne said. "He's a good kid, Chey. Plus he's my neighbor. I'm obviously going to be nice to him." Abi replied as they walked into English and sat down.

Luke walked with Calum towards Mikey's locker and saw his friend watching Abi and practically drooling over her, "Mate you've got to get over her. You know she's nothing but trouble." Luke said, "Yeah but you gotta admit she's hot. There's no way Mikey will ever get over her. He's in love with the girl. Maybe he's just stupid. I don't think I would ever pull that girl out of trouble as many times as Mikey has." Calum added as they both looked at Calum. Luke looked over when he saw Mia walk in, "Mia! Over here!" He called and smiled at his best friend.

Michael grinned at the greeting he received from Abi and he immediately responded with a, "Hey, Abi." But, just like that, she was down the hallway at her own locker and he sighed, trying to ignore how much he wanted to follow after her. By then, his friends were there and he looked at them with a roll of his eyes. "You don't understand, mates. It's not that simple," he said with a sigh before he shook his head slightly. Part of him knew that Abi didn't return his feelings, but he couldn't help but to hope that, at some point, she would. He wasn't sure if that 'some point' would ever become real, though. "Mate, we all understand," Ash assured with a pat on Mikey's shoulder, "I'm sure we've all faced a bit of unrequited love."

Mia blinked when she heard Luke's voice calling her name and she lifted her gaze to look over at him. Offering what she could manage of a smile, she made her way over. "Hey, guys," she greeted lightly, toying with the strap of her bag for a moment in an attempt to keep herself distracted. "Hey, Mia," Calum and Ashton greeted with grins before Ashton said, "You should help us talk some sense into Mikey here." Mia didn't quite understand what Ash was talking about, likely due to her mind being distracted, and she stared up at him. "Um, what?" she asked before shaking her head a bit.

Abi sat down in her seat and smiled when Danny walked in, "Hey Danny. I heard you're party tonight is going to be killer." She said with a grin. To anyone else besides the kids that went to parties and her close group of friends, Abi was a good girl who got grades and followed all the rules. But once she was home and away from her parents she was almost always sneaking out and going to parties. It was a double life that she lived but she was able to handle it. Plus she always had Michael to help her out when she needed him to. He was a good neighbor like that and she knew that he would never tell. Plus she knew about how he felt about her. She hated to admit it because he was a really nice kid but she did take advantage of the fact that he liked her as more than just a friend.

Luke rolled his eyes at Mikey's words, "But it is that simple! Pack up and move on, mate. That girl is going to get you into trouble and you're going to be kicking yourself because you didn't listen to us." He said before he looked at Mia, "Mikey is still hung up on Abi. We are all trying to convince him to get over her and to not wait at her hand and foot." He explained before he noticed she looked a little off, "Are you alright, Mia? You look upset." Luke said.

(I'm just going to combine these two parts, so I don't confuse myself, until they all separate. xD Mikey will probably go to class the next post, though, so do you want him and Abi to have English together?)

"If she was going to get me into trouble, it would have already happened, mate," Michael pointed out casually, only for Ash to laugh. "But it has. You're wrapped around her finger and you don't even see it," he teased his friend. "You never know, though. She could fall for him," Mia offered, trying to be encouraging of her friend, though she blinked when she heard Luke's question and looked at him. She wasn't going to answer at first, but everybody's attention fell on her. "Come on, Mia, you can tell us," Michael offered, "It's better than listening to these three tease me about Abi." With a sigh, Mia shifted and glanced away. "Well, um. Sean kind of cheated on me and I caught him and we broke up," she said quickly, avoiding their gazes, especially Luke's.

Luke laughed at Mia's words before she responded to his question and his smile soon fell, "What? I'll kill him." Luke said, instantly furious. He always hated Sean because he always hurt Mia and Luke was always there to piece her back together and when he thought he might actually get a chance with her she goes right back to Sean, "Mia I'm so sorry." He said and put his arm around her. He was still furious and the next time he saw Sean he was going to kid the guy's ass.

Michael wasn't too surprised with Luke's reaction to Mia's news. After all, their whole group knew about Luke's crush on the girl. It was surprising that Luke would tell Michael to get over Abi when he was so stuck on Mia, despite how many times the girl went back to Sean. Figuring that Luke would deal with whatever breakdown Mia might have, Michael took it as his chance to head to class and he was quick to do so.

Mia offered what she could manage of a smile up towards Luke and shook her head, trying to keep her emotions under control. "No, it's fine," she tried to assure him, though she could hear her own voice cracking and she quickly shook her head. "I'm sure he'll be perfect... perfectly happy with the girl he's with now." It was a struggle to get the words out, but she managed it, just barely.

Abi was talking with Danny about his party tonight when Mikey walked in. She smiled at him before he sat down and she went back to her conversation. She was ready for the school day to be over so she could help get the party into full swing. She would be driving over with Cheyenne, who didn't live very far from Abi and closer to Danny than Abi did.

Luke sighed at Mia's words before he wrapped his arms around her and kissed her head, "Don't worry babe you've always got me." He said hopefully before the warning bell had rung, "Come on we better get to class." He stated before he pulled his best friend in the direction of their math class that they had together first period.

Michael returned Abi's smile when he saw her smile at him before he moved to take his seat. From where he was, he could hear them talking about a party and, honestly, it didn't surprise him. He knew how much Abi enjoyed partying and part of him wondered if, maybe, he should crash this party, just for the hell of it. He was pretty sure that, if he decided to, his friends would probably join, too.

Mia offered a short, slow nod in response to his words. "You're a really great best friend, Luke," she told him quietly, thankful to have him. He always seemed to know exactly what to say, but she wished things were simpler, that she didn't always have to rely on him to fix her when Sean broke her. She cringed at the mention of class, hoping Sean would skip the day, but followed Luke.

When the teacher walked into the class everyone's conversations slowly died down. She started to talk about an essay they would be doing about the book Romeo and Juliet. Abi took notes on what she was going to write about and she took a moment to look over and steal a glance at Michael. She thought about how he always got her out of trouble at parties. He figured tonight would be no different. She would probably get drunk and call him to come pick her up and then she would sleep off the alcohol at his house and shower and everything before she would sneak back over to her house and act like she had been there all night. Her parents never really checked up her on because they always figured she was just studying. They were completely clueless to the fact that she was hardly ever home.

Luke smiled and shrugged, "Hey what can I say? I'm just amazing at what I do." He teased with a smile. They walked through the door of class and sat in the back where they usually did. Luke looked over at Mia and grinned, he was about to say something when he saw Sean walk through the door. Luke glared and had to fight the urge to not go kick his ass then and there, "I hope you know how bad I'm restraining myself right now." Luke said glancing over at Mia, "I'm going to kill him. Maybe not today but I'll do it." He added.

Michael tried to concentrate on the class, he really did, but it was always difficult to concentrate with Abi around because he would always wonder what things would be like if she actually gave him a chance. He was a sucker for her, but he couldn't really help it. After all, he didn't want her to get in trouble with her parents and he didn't want her to hate him if he didn't help her, even though his friends always told him that he should just move on. He couldn't, though, not when there was always the slim hope in the back of his mind that just maybe she'd see that he was good for her.

Mia curled her fingers around her own knees when she noticed Sean enter the room, her attention going to him. He offered his usual greeting smile and she quickly turned away, trying to avoid letting him get to her. Hearing Luke's words, though, she blinked and looked over at him before she offered a small smile and shook her head slightly. "I'd really rather you didn't," she told him, "I'd rather not lose my best friend to prison or something because he killed my ex." Not only would she feel terrible for losing her best friend in that matter, but she'd also feel guilty about it.

Abi sighed and dared to steal another glance over at Michael. She wouldn't admit it to anyone aloud but Abi thought he was really good looking. She thought he was such a sweet kid and he was really funny. She also really liked that he would do just about anything to help keep her out of trouble. She knew that a lot of the time she used his feelings for her to get what she wanted and she felt guilty about it but she always ended up going to him when she was in trouble because in the back of her subconscious she just really wanted to spend time with him.

Luke laughed lightly at her words and watched, with a glare, as Sean sat down in the front of the room on the opposite side. Good. Better he stays away from me right now. He thought to himself. He put his hand on Mia's arm, "Everything will be okay, Mia. I promise. I'm going to help you get through this. That's what I'm here for. I will always be here for you." Because I'm in love with you. He shook his head at the thought. He could never tell her. She obviously didn't feel the same way so there was no point in facing rejection.

Michael felt eyes on him and turned his attention to Abi, wondering - and hoping - that it was her eyes on him. Both surprised and, honestly, rather happy with what he was greeted with, he smiled upon realizing that she had actually been looking at him. It definitely boosted his hopes a bit; it wasn't like she really had a reason to look at him right now, right? So, maybe, subconsciously, she just wanted to look at him, like how he always wanted to look at her. Of course, he could only hope, but hoping had gotten him this far, hadn't it? Maybe all of his hope would end up paying off in the end.

Mia blinked when she felt Luke's hand on her arm and she turned her eyes to him as she listened to him. Offering a small smile, she nodded. "I know. You're always there for me," she murmured honestly. It was just how Luke had always been and she had always relied on him. Honestly, she wished that it was more than him just being a best friend, though, because she would have chosen him over Sean any day. But he was her best friend and she didn't want to ruin that. Steeling herself, she took a deep breath and turned her attention ahead, avoiding looking towards Sean and listened as class began.

Abi's eyes went wide slightly when Michael caught her looking at him. Her face flushed and she instantly looked back at her book. Wait why was she getting embarrassed? Why was she blushing? It's because staring is weird. That's the only reason. She told herself and mentally scolded herself for thinking otherwise. Michael was just a friend, nothing more.

Luke nodded at her words. If only she knew how much he would really be there for her. Luke wanted nothing more for them to be more than just friends because he would show her what a real guy was supposed to treat her like. Not like that asshole Sean who treated her like shit all the time. Luke would always treat her like a princess and give her everything she wanted.

Maybe hope really does work. Michael thought when he took notice of the blush that spread over Abi's features before she had turned around. A grin spread over his face and he was unable to contain how excited he was with the new development, because he couldn't recall Abi ever blushing. It was definitely a good sign, in his opinion, and he made sure to engrave the memory in his brain.

Mia tried to concentrate on class, but she could see Sean shifting out of her peripheral vision and she was pretty sure that he occasionally glanced back. Whether it was at her or not, she tried to force herself not to care, because she wasn't supposed to. He had cheated on her, it was his fault that everything ended this time, and she wasn't going to forgive him.
