    The Plot

The story takes place in a large half-way house shared by a set of roommates. The roommates are from various different backgrounds* and get along with each other to varying degrees. Each roommate is there because they've had a problem with living in the 'outside' world** and they need to work through their issues so they can be reintroduced into mainstream society.

The story starts out with the roommates just doing their daily/bi-weekly/whatever group meeting and talking about their progress/things that have been bothering them/etc. But soon after, a crime or incident takes place*** - which shakes things up. From that point on, the goal is to figure out who's causing the trouble.

In each chapter, the characters will recall some part of their day/week that explains why they're not the perpetrator or why they believe someone else is. Periodically we'll return to the group setting to bring the story back to a focal point - we can work out those chapters in a role-play which we'll translate into an actual chapter after. Towards the end we can possibly hold a vote towards who we want to be the real perpetrator and then that person would write a 'confession' chapter and close out the story.

For anyone who kind of wants to participate kind of on the outskirts of the story, we could a 'therapist' character who does some one-on-one sessions with some of the characters. (We can also pick which characters have to do the therapist session randomly or by vote).

    * some are fantastical or sci-fi creatures - werewolves, fairies, robots, aliens, leprechauns, failed science experiment, ect. - or just a regular human with an problem like addiction or perhaps someone going through a crisis.

** either it's because they can't control their 'monster' side in some way or there have an addiction of some sort - any reason they need to be removed from main society and places someplace secluded where they can learn to deal with their issues

*** maybe someone is murdered or something important goes missing/is destroyed

    Other Info

Some other things we could add during the story:
    • Kill off characters throughout (if we're going with murder)
    • Add new characters throughout (characters who either join the group after or characters who are outsiders visiting or guests)
    What do you think?

    * Nothing's written in stone. Anything subject to change as we move along in the story.*

In regards to the the end of the day, is it each author's day that counts? Because of timezones and how the end of my day isn't the end of your day, etc.

Whatever we need is fine. I will still be a proofreader.

I agree. Maybe we can work it out if we figure out everyone's timezones? Then maybe give them an alloted time

I was thinking for the story rating , we keep it PG-13, just to keep it on a neutral playground.

    I agree.

Maybe an easy to follow and each writer make it their own plot would be either exploring a haunted house or getting lost in the woods? Just a thought.

That could work like every chapter would be a mini story. I was thinking what if at the end of each chapter, a character had to be introduced and the next author had to write a chapter based on that character then at the end of their chapter introduce a character for the next author and so on and so on. I just don't know what the central plot connecting them all would be? That's just my idea.

Hello everyone, I'm Christine. I'm excited to see how this turns out. Currently I don't have any ideas for what kind of story we could do, but I agree with keeping it at a PG-13 rating.

Maybe we could do something that like those movies that have a bunch of celebrities in them where it all ties together like Valentines Day or New Years Eve?

What if we did something like Big Brother? There could be like 7 (or more) characters and the prologue could be day one, introducing the characters and the show, and then evictions start on day 2 all the way until there's only one character remaining? We could have a poll in the blogs section or something with the initial of each character as a choice and then the one with the highest number of votes goes first, then the next highest, etc.? And we each write a different day, focused on a different character.

I really like that idea. You'd have to explain it to me though because I've never watched it.

I like that idea! Tying it all together so it makes sense in a sort of way.

Basically they're all in a house that has camera is and the public votes either for their favourite or the one they want to leave, based on how their attitudes are, any bust ups happen (always do) and any activities the housemates do.

I've never seen that show beforeā€¦but now that you mention a show we could do something that could be a game show like Survivor or even tacky stuff like The Bachelor?

Okay! That sounds awesome too now! So basically the public is just monitoring these people in a house? This could work awesomely. Maybe we could even expand it to like a town or something? Like these set of different people are "locked in" a town for a reality show? I was just thinking a town would give us a more settings for everyone to make up. Maybe make it set in the future or something??

    Or like the Challenge?

How many rounds would we have? If it ends up only being a few of us, will we go again?

That sounds good. And the whole town is just them plus a few people here and there to run some things

To avoid the timezones issue, I was thinking of adding a clock to this that's set to UTC - and we'll organize according to that clock. So deadlines wouldn't be based on any one's individual timezone but just the one synchronized clock we're all using (and then everyone can adjust accordingly (and figure out what time that would be in their specific timezones.

For example, right now in UTC it's about 1:06am. For me, the time's around 5:08pm, so I know that if we set a midnight deadline UTC, then that would equal 4:00PM where I am.

    * However it works out, I'll add a conversion chart to make it easier on everyone to figure out exactly the time in their timezone. (Once everyone's checked in, we can probably just go ahead and figure out what timezone everyone is in and get that all cleared up.)
