That kinda reminds me of the game Clue, you know, where you have to find out who the murderer is. But i think some sort of show might be the best way to go in the sense we'll probably have multiple characters…we could do it like seasons of a TV series as well that way we don't add random people in at random times.

Maybe the first like 20 or so chapters could be like one season and anyone who wants to drop out of maybe their character gets killed off we can bring in some new writers?

What if we did a fantasy creature support group?? Where they talk about how hard it is to deal with society's portrayal of them in their films?
I like this one. I think it could definitely work if, perhaps, we start it with a group meeting and periodically characters can talk a bit about themselves. (Maybe we could come up with a list of prompts that'll get asked within the meetings - like what event let you join this group - and that could get the ball rolling. If we did something like that, were each time we return to the meeting, a new question (prompt) is posed, we could only have a couple or so characters respond, so it's not getting monotonous.

Maybe we can even throw a little murder in there too - where characters get killed off (and maybe new ones add) periodically. So, for example, if your character gets killed off (maybe we can do a randomizer to decide which character is killed), you can re-enter with a new one.

As for genre, I like the idea of a fantasy. Maybe everyone's character can be a different fantasy species (faerie, centaur, elf etc) and all have to live together in this town for a few months?
We can join this up with Maleficient's idea.

And if we go with a group thing (like the reality show or the support group) we could work on the chapters were all the characters interact at once via role-play?

That's what I was thinking. It would be easier since we would have multiple characters. Maybe we could even add supernatural creatures mixed with humans in the show/town? So there's a murder out there that could be human or a supernatural creature, we just don't know who?

So the characters would meet up for support group like after a certain amount of chapters? That way we can meet up ever so often to roleplay the chapter? That would actually be neat. What would the support group's topic center around?

Maybe it's just because I don't see how it would work as a support group thing, but I'm not really feeling that too much. I'm okay with it, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

That's why I was thinking we do the support group thing every few chapters as a group in this thread or something so individually we could do our little side thing somehow? But still managing to link it up.

Okay so we would do our own thing some too? Now I feel good about it. I was a bit confused.

Like in my head, so that it makes sense, I am picturing this as a TV show like for an example, Teen Wolf. Each season of that show is an entire story, that's what I was assuming here…like in my earlier post I suggested we have "seasons" where some characters die off, some continue on, some just become partial based on how the authors are able to handle this thing.

So I like the idea of the whole town or city that is inhabited by paranormal and mythological beings that are like secret to the human world (for the most part at least) kinda like Cassandra Clare's books or we could even do a survival kinda thing?

I'm just going with the flow of whatever anyone wants to do, but I think that the support group should be only in the thread vs. that being the story itself.

I like the support group idea, just we do it as a roleplay in the tread then post it as a group chapter in the story, but we do a group chapter every few chapters in the story.

To kind of run the ideas that have been put forward together, how about something like this:

The story takes place in a large half-way house shared by a set of roommates. The roommates are from various different backgrounds* and get along with each other to varying degrees. Each roommate is there because they've had a problem with living in the 'outside' world** and they need to work through their issues so they can be reintroduced into mainstream society.

The story starts out with the roommates just doing their daily/bi-weekly/whatever group meeting and talking about their progress/things that have been bothering them/etc. But soon after, a crime or incident takes place*** - which shakes things up. From that point on, the goal is to figure out who's causing the trouble.

In each chapter, the characters will recall some part of their day/week that explains why they're not the perpetrator or why they believe someone else is. Periodically we'll return to the group setting to bring the story back to a focal point - we can work out those chapters in a role-play which we'll translate into an actual chapter after. Towards the end we can possibly hold a vote towards who we want to be the real perpetrator and then that person would write a 'confession' chapter and close out the story.

For anyone who kind of wants to participate kind of on the outskirts of the story, we could a 'therapist' character who does some one-on-one sessions with some of the characters. (We can also pick which characters have to do the therapist session randomly or by vote).

    * some are fantastical or sci-fi creatures - werewolves, fairies, robots, aliens, leprachauns, failed science experiment, ect. - or just a regular human with an problem like addiction or perhaps someone going through a crisis.

** either it's because they can't control their 'monster' side in some way or there have an addiction of some sort - any reason they need to be removed from main society and places someplace secluded where they can learn to deal with their issues

*** maybe someone is murdered or something important goes missing/is destroyed

Some other things we could add during the story:
    • Kill off characters throughout (if we're going with murder)
    • Add new characters throughout (characters who either join the group after or characters who are outsiders visiting or guests)
      What do you think?
