Gideon scrubbed a hand over his face. He was sick and tired of how long everything was taking. His people per dying out so quickly and the only way to help them was a damned angel. Why couldn't it have been anything else?Hell, finding unicorn tears and the feathers of a phoenix would be easier than finding an angel that would help them, let alone do it willingly. It was things like this that made him hate his existence. Well, that and the fact that his father was Satan himself. There was no faster way to get people to hate you and still do anything for you at the same time. On the other hand, that should be changing soon.
He slammed the book he had been attempting to flip thorough shut and started pacing. Marianna had been gone for three days with no updates. It was like she dropped off the face of the earth. None of his trackers had been able to find her either, although that may be a good thing. He was supposed to be bringing him a healer and she was supposed to be back yesterday. He was beginning to get impatient and an impatient Gideon was never a good thing.
He started pouring himself a nice tall glass of scotch that he planned to nurse for about the next two minutes. After that he would need a refill. It was a damn good thing it was hard for him to get drunk and he didn't have to worry about a mortals bodily functions.A light knock on his door did nothing to help his irritation. Not unless it was Mari and an angel.
Marianna sat on the park bench with her legs crossed and a magazine in her hands. That god for sunglasses or every person in the surrounding area would know she had no interest it in as she was far more interested in the couple conversing quietly in the shade of a tree. They were both angels. She could tell by the sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach and the faint glow of wings behind each of them.
She hated angels. They always thought that they were better than everyone just because they were created from light or some shit like that. She really couldn't care less. All she knew was that she had a job to do and she needed to do it quick. She was over deadline and had already decided to ignore her boss's request for daily reports on her progress. That was just too tedious.
After a few more minutes of observation, she finally decided that the female would be her first target. All she had to do now was catch them alone and hope that the female was not close to an arch angel. That would cause a few pains in her ass.
