Gideon scrubbed a hand over his face. He was sick and tired of how long everything was taking. His people per dying out so quickly and the only way to help them was a damned angel. Why couldn't it have been anything else?Hell, finding unicorn tears and the feathers of a phoenix would be easier than finding an angel that would help them, let alone do it willingly. It was things like this that made him hate his existence. Well, that and the fact that his father was Satan himself. There was no faster way to get people to hate you and still do anything for you at the same time. On the other hand, that should be changing soon.

He slammed the book he had been attempting to flip thorough shut and started pacing. Marianna had been gone for three days with no updates. It was like she dropped off the face of the earth. None of his trackers had been able to find her either, although that may be a good thing. He was supposed to be bringing him a healer and she was supposed to be back yesterday. He was beginning to get impatient and an impatient Gideon was never a good thing.

He started pouring himself a nice tall glass of scotch that he planned to nurse for about the next two minutes. After that he would need a refill. It was a damn good thing it was hard for him to get drunk and he didn't have to worry about a mortals bodily functions.A light knock on his door did nothing to help his irritation. Not unless it was Mari and an angel.
Marianna sat on the park bench with her legs crossed and a magazine in her hands. That god for sunglasses or every person in the surrounding area would know she had no interest it in as she was far more interested in the couple conversing quietly in the shade of a tree. They were both angels. She could tell by the sickening feeling in the pit of her stomach and the faint glow of wings behind each of them.

She hated angels. They always thought that they were better than everyone just because they were created from light or some shit like that. She really couldn't care less. All she knew was that she had a job to do and she needed to do it quick. She was over deadline and had already decided to ignore her boss's request for daily reports on her progress. That was just too tedious.

After a few more minutes of observation, she finally decided that the female would be her first target. All she had to do now was catch them alone and hope that the female was not close to an arch angel. That would cause a few pains in her ass.

"You're leaving?" Fenix's tone was incredulous. And why shouldn't it be, considering what she had just been told? She knew the fighting was happening, even if she was always kept well away from it. There weren't that many seraphim; certainly not enough that anyone felt it was worth the risk to take her near the fighting where she could get hurt or be killed. She could understand that. She really could.

Now, what she couldn't understand was why Selias was leaving her. So far, he had stayed with her, almost like a guard to make sure nothing happened, though they hadn't seen or heard from any sort of demon, not even the dead kind. See, she could understand that too. She wasn't a fighter, in the least. And according to Selias, no one was coming to replace him. He was quite simply just being called away to fight. The next time she would see any other angel would be if someone was injured and needed her help. Even if it had been a good idea, she doubted she would have liked it. What if her friend was brought to her, bloodied and on the verge of death?

"Yes, Fenix, leaving. I wasn't given a choice, else we wouldn't be having this conversation now." Selias didn't like this any more than she did, though from the expression on her face, he doubted she would believe him if he told her that. Just because nothing had happened didn't mean that nothing was going to happen, after all. "Just... do you remember any of the self defense I tried to teach you when you were younger?"

"No." It was an honest answer. That had been years ago, and she hadn't liked the thought of hurting anything anymore than she did now.

"Well, that's great. Way to make me feel better." Selias let out a breath, running a hand through his hair. Then he shook his head, knowing he really did have to get going, despite both of their misgivings. "You're going to be fine, okay? I promise." He pressed a kiss to the top of her head and then pulled away. "I'll come check on you as soon as possible, though it might not be until its time to rotate again. Just try to stay out of trouble, okay?"

"You're one to talk about staying out of trouble!"

    "Fenix."

"Yes. Fine. I promise, Selias." Fenix waved him off. "Just go ahead and get going. I know you need to."

"Soon," he reminded her, already backing away. "I'll be back soon." And with that, Selias left Fenix all alone.

After an hour long conversation of why there was no need for a break with one of the lesser demons, Gideon slammed the door and slumped down into a chair. They didn't need a break. What they needed was a miracle, and let's face it, that was never going to happen. Not without a Seraph or other form of healer. He blamed his father for that. As the products of a celestial being, he and the other demons could only be healed by one of the holy.

He needed to distract himself until Marianna returned with his angel. He decided to take a look at each of the circles and make sure they were functioning properly. One... Two... Three... God this was annoying. He didn't understand why his father kept these things around still. It all seemed a bit vintage to him and as a demon, he knew better that most that vintage sucks.

A call from behind him caught his attention. He turned to find one of his scouts waiting for him. "What is it?" Gideon asked.

"Sir, Marianna has been shopped on the surface. She should be back soon." The scout says, matter-of-factly.

    "Very good; dismissed." Gideon says.
Marianna pulled out a cell phone and made a quick call to one of her peers in the area. She needed to make sure the angel did not have an escape route. Lucky for her, they were in the middle of a human riddled park which meant no wings.

She stood and pulled her blonde hair up into a high ponytail before making her way over to the lone angel. "Well hey there, darlin'." She said, linking their arms. In a hushed tome she continued, "Make one sound, try to get away or anything else that will draw attention to us and I will destroy you."

With a smile, Marianna led the two away from the park hoping there were no other angels in the area. "What is your name and rank?" She asked, hoping she wasn't going to die as soon as they were out of the public eye.

It seemed to Fenix that no sooner had Selias left than she felt a dark presence, a feeling a little like spiders crawling up her spine. She couldn't really pinpoint where it was coming from until the feeling was practically right on top of her, in the form of a blonde woman with her hair up in a ponytail. She received the warning before she even had the chance to attempt to pull away.

Something like this was the reason why she thought of herself as the unluckiest angel that ever lived. It was also the reason why Selias had been with her at all times. She had never felt any desire whatsoever to fight or harm another living creature, not like the archangels. She was a healer, who at that moment wished she had remembered what she'd been taught about self defense when she was younger.

"Why do you want to know?" Better yet, what exactly was going on? They were leaving the park, and she could only guess that they were making their way to a more secluded place. With luck, that place wouldn't involve a ton of trees. If there was open sky, she could probably use her wings to get away. Where she would be getting away to, she would just have to figure out once she was away from this demon.

(I'm going to sort of pause on Selias for now... I'll make a post for him for when he figures out that Fenix is gone and all that, but there's no sense roleplaying him when there isn't really any reply that can made for it)

[I'm so sorry! I thought I replied already!]

Marianna grinned. She was so happy the angel was getting right to the point. It made things so much easier. "What is your role in this war? I'm looking for a healer and it's either you or your friend. And don't worry, I'm a scavenger, not a fighter, but you will meet those guys goon enough." She said and waited for her reply.

There was a rendezvous point somewhere in the wooded area behind the local high school. She just had to manage to get them there without the the angel taking name. Marianna looked at the pretty ginger next to her and raised an eyebrow. "You still haven't told me your name." She gave a small pout. "How is that any way to treat your new friends?"

It didn't take long for the two of them to reach the school. Luckily, there was a soccer game going and they had to walk right though the parking lot to get to their location. "Act natural, darlin', and remember what I told you earlier. There are more where you came from." She said and waved at one of her comrades, letting them know she was here so they could run off and tell the boss.

(I'm so sorry. things got unexpectedly busy Facepalm)

Though she wasn't a fighter, Fenix wasn't stupid. It didn't take her long to figure out where she was being taken. A secluded area, obviously, but more specifically, a wooded area, which meant there wouldn't be a chance for her to get away once they were there. Everywhere they had been so far was full of humans though... first the park, then busy streets, and now they were in a parking lot just outside a soccer game. And even though the demon didn't seem to want to kill her, it still felt like a rock dropped to the bottom of her stomach.

"I think you're overestimating how many seraphim there are, especially those who will willingly leave heaven." There were a good number of seraphim, but that good number was anywhere between 10 and 15 percent, which didn't account for a whole lot of the angels. And most of them insisted that those in need of being healed be brought to them.

"And you definitely aren't my new friend..." Nor did she know the female demon's name either, not that she was exactly dying to know. She had other things to worry about because now they had crossed the parking lot, and Fenix was being pulled into the woods. She tensed, knowing soon she would have to get away. Whatever was being planned for her couldn't be good after all, and trees or no trees, she had to at least try something.
