Sirius' excitement for returning to Hogwarts brimmed over at the top and was only slightly taken away when both James and Lily had to leave for their meeting with this years prefects. He and Remus swapped stories of the summer, those of which didn't involve each other. All of Sirius' stories centered around the Potter's since this had been the first full summer he spent with them. His mind fluttered around stories and the train ride passed quickly.

When they arrived and filed into the dining hall, Sirius fell onto one of the hard benches with extreme effort. He ruffled his messy black locks over his face and mustered a sort of smirk at his friends. "This is it, boys," he said, clapping Remus on the shoulder, "The big one! This whole school is our playground," he said, chuckling slightly. Remus made a face, as if to scold him, and Lily began muttering about N.E.W.T.S this year, but Sirius easily dismissed them. As much as it dismayed him that his time at Hogwarts would soon be ending, he was so elated to be back that it didn't matter.

"Personally, Moony, I think go big this year, bigger than ever before! We have to create something really amazing, leave a legacy," he added, leaning back in his seat. "I mean, look at all this li'l ones" he said, gesturing to the first years who were twiddling their thumbs, "Someone will need to replace us," he said, smirking. Although, to be honest, as Sirius scanned the staff who sat along side Dumbledore, he wondered if a seat would ever open for him.

It was this thought that he resonated on as the Sorting Hat began his tale.

    --------

Bella walked down Knockturn Alley, her head lifted high as a she hurried to Borgin and Burkes, knowing very well this was the place to meet Lord Voldemort. They had to find more Giants to recruit, the war was drawing close. Bella could feel it in her bones, the excitement of finally putting everyone in their places. She licked her lips, her fingers itching for more teachings. She knew as they moved endlessly through the countryside, there would be time for more lessons. Although she was already extremely skilled, she knew there was so much more to learn from her Lord.

She walked into Borgin and Burkes, catching a glimpse of the ornate ring on her finger. She sneered, remembering her impending marriage, an honorable Pureblood marriage, but one she didn't want. She moved her eyes around Borgin and Burkes before slipping behind a curtain and being faced with her Lord once again. Although she remembered how his chestnut curls had once fallen around his face, she found a familiar excitement in her bones at his appearance slowly became more snakelike; he was the truest Slytherin of them all.

    "My Lord," she said, curtsying.

Marlene, who'd spent her summer in Germany with her family visiting more family, was thrilled to be aboard the Hogwarts Express and headed back to school. Because while she'd enjoyed Germany a lot she had to admit that she would've rather spent her summer months with her friends, though they'd all written back and forth as promised. Now that they were on the train though she, Dorcas, and Mary could catch up in person finally though. And she would've loved for Lily to be there as well, but well both Lily and James had prefect things to worry about. So Marlene spent the train ride catching up with Doe and Mary deciding she could catch up with Lily later in the dorms.

"Honestly Mar are you and Sirius still not talking?" Dorcas asked her as they took their seats at the Gryffindor table, other people still filing in after them. "Nope." Marlene replied wishing she could've given another answer, but well she had Sirius hadn't really talked all summer. Really they hadn't talked since the last argument they'd right before school had ended.

"I sent him an owl over the summer, but he never replied. So I guess he's still mad at me." She said shrugging her shoulder and looking away from her friend towards the first years walking in. "Which is ridiculous given the whole thing but whatever." She said shaking her head, wanting to drop the whole thing. This was her last year at Hogwarts with her friends, and she wanted to spend it enjoying her time there with her friends not worrying about getting Sirius to talk to her again. Especially when she knew how he could be. Honestly if he wouldn't even owl her back over the summer she figured it'd be best to just let Sirius be mad at her. Even if it was stupid for him to be mad at her when she was the one who should've been mad at him. Sirius was pretty much the king of holding grudges and ignoring people.
Tom looked away from what he'd been looking at when he heard Bellatrix enter. "Bella." He said in his soft snakelike voice. "I see your early," he said though he'd had no doubt that she would be. Honestly out of all the followers he'd found himself he could easily tell she was the most loyal. And even if she was scared of what he'd do to her if she disappointed him it was clear that she try her very best not to disappoint him. He wished he could say the same for some of the others he'd found. It didn't matter though, they were loyal and that was what mattered. Because he couldn't have people who weren't loyal, the last thing he wanted to worry about was having to replace people because they'd turned their backs on him. Honestly it was just awful to have to kill people who weren't loyal. But well he had to show everyone what would happen if they went against him.

"If only everyone on our side could be like you," he told her. He knew that no matter what Bellatrix was willing to do whatever he asked of her. She'd kill for him if he asked her to, and that was what made her his favorite. If ever something were to happen to him, though he of course knew with all the Horcruxes he'd made it wasn't very likely anything would happen to him, he knew that she would be someone he could count on to finish his work. He knew he could count on her to kill everyone unworthy of possessing magic, and also anyone who went against them.

Sirius eyed Marlene as she walked up to Lily and the girls exchanged excited greeting. He knew she had attempted to rectify things, but if there was one thing Sirius admired above all else it was loyal and that was something he wasn't sure Marlene had. She was sweet and she followed the rules, almost too well. In fact, even Lily knew when it was time to step back and let them get in whatever trouble they wanted to get into to. Marlene, however, couldn't stand by and her conscious cost Gryffindor ten points each. He huffed, turning in his seat so he could focus on something other than the curve of her lips. Loose lips he reminded himself.

"You can't ignore her forever, Padfoot," James muttered to him as the Sorting finally began.

"I disagree," Sirius replied. "I'm pretty sure that it's only a year of ignoring to and then we go separate ways," he said, watching a few new Hufflepuffs march their way to their table. He casted another wary look to Marlene, but somewhere inside he wondered if he could actually keep this up for the whole year. Something about her made him weak.

    ---

Bella almost swooned at the praise and felt herself hanging onto each word. "The earlier I arrive, the early we set off," she replied. She wondered if he noticed how much she admired him, if he noticed her unwavering devotion or how she clung to every word he said. In fact, it was this unyielding devotion that caused her to accept her marriage proposal, but she was holding out for the day that Voldemort himself would ask her to break it.

"Where to, my lord?" She asked, twisting her fingers in black lace gown. She was anxious for action, she needed a purpose, a task. She needed to hear more words slip from between his lips and to watch his lips turn into a smirk as he explained the steps of his plan to her. She wondered if t was to her alone, but who else would it be? If only everyone could be like you. Of course, it was no one else. They were a team, an uneven team, but a team nonetheless.

Marlene had turned herself around in her seat to face the first years who were all finally filing in behind McGongall to be sorted. Honestly, she had no interest in continuing the conversation about Sirius. He wasn't talking to her still and really she was to the point of not knowing what to do. She'd wrote him over the summer, but he hadn't replied, she'd done her best to sit with him, Remus, and Peter on the train ride in too but Remus had suggested against it. Honestly, the way she saw it right now it was pointless to try and get him to talk to her and well she didn't want to dwell on it longer than necessary.

"Marly what happened between you two?" She heard Lily ask, clearly not understanding she'd rather not talk about it. Made sense though, Lily worried more about her friends than anyone else Marlene knew.

"'s nothing really," Marlene said keeping her eyes focused on the new first years. "He's just stupid is all." She added biting her lip and refusing to look at him or let it be known that this was bothering her. She really didn't even see why he was so mad at her still. She'd never actually told professor McGongall about what they were planning and someone else must've known what they were up to and ratted them out after all they had been arguing in the hall back to the common room. Marlene had even told him that, for all she really knew Peeves or anyone really could've heard them arguing and told. However, McGongall found out Marlene didn't know but she hadn't been the one to tell, Sirius wouldn't listen to her though so she was just trying to get over it.
"There's a lot that must be done and we're running out of time so we'll send for the others," Tom told her holding out his arm for her to take so he could apparate them away to where he wanted. He was getting tired of waiting for the others to arrive and he'd call a meeting later to deal with this. For now though he was going to take Bellatrix to practice the lesson for the day. "I have one of your last lessons planned for today." He told her knowing that the war was growing closer every second and there was no time to waste. He wanted to make sure that at least one of his followers was ready for everything that might be thrown her way.

"I'm quite proud of how well you've done so far with your training so far but they're just a few more things we need to make sure you can handle before I know that you're ready." He told her with no doubts that she'd make him proud and excel. She was quite an extraordinary witch really and he couldn't have prouder that she'd chosen the right side of the war to join because he would've hated it if he had to end her life. Honestly, it would've been a waste.

Sirius glanced at James who was giving him a rather stern look, causing Sirius to huff. "What can I help you with, James?" He asked, turning to lock eyes with his best friend. James shrugged, as if to say nothing was bothering him, but Sirius knew James was aggravated with him. "Come on, out with it," Sirius added, getting annoyed with James' nonchalant attitude.

"I just expected more from you," he said. James was always so honorable, or maybe not always, but to his friends he was. He held them to a higher esteem and it made Sirius a better person, maybe that's why he was Gryffindor and not a Slytherin like the rest of the Blacks, because he wanted to be better.

"What's that suppose to mean?" Sirius asked. It honestly felt like being slapped, to disappoint someone who was basically a brother to him, made Sirius cringe at himself.

"Well, I just figured, with all your talk of honor and respect, you'd have enough decency to listen to someone before you make a decision of their guilt; guilty until proven innocent, is it?" James asked, raising a brow.

He was right, of course. Sirius didn't want to admit it, he bite the inside of his cheek to divert his attention to the pain rather than his guilt. He hung his head a little, trying to reason in his head a side for himself, but James has played on his biggest weakness: his reputation and his morals. He wanted to rise above the family he came from and to hold himself to high was the only way.

"Fine," he muttered quietly. James didn't even look smug, but just appreciative. "Marlene," Sirius called, across the table.

    ----

Bella grabbed his arm, finding such sweet relief in the feeling. She felt the sucking feeling of being apparated and she wondered why he didn't just let her apparate for herself, but she would never ask such a question. Her curiosity often angered him, but she just wanted to understand how his mind worked. It worked in ways that most minds do not, but she wanted to make hers work almost as well as his did.

The landed in the middle of the forest, mist swirling around them and the cold air stinging at her skin. "Where are we?" She asked, ignoring his previous praise for once in her life. She wondered if that would anger him or if he would appreciate her being mature, for rising to the challenge. "And what's in store for today?" She asked. They had almost completed all of the Unforgivable Curses. Though she favored Imperio, her fingers itched to use the killing curse as easily as her leader. The way he used the curse was almost romantic, he spoke the words with power and sensuality, as if killing was as enticing to him as it was to her.

Marlene bit her lip and kept her back turned to everyone watching the ceremony for a moment. Though she wasn't really paying attention. She was mostly taking the moment to calm herself down. She didn't know exactly how anything was about to pan out, but well she was a little nervous. "What'da you want?" She finally asked turning around to face him. "Because if you're going to yell at me some more, for something I didn't do I might add, then save your breath because I won't listen." She told him pretty sure she could think of at least twenty-five different hexes to use on him that might've made herself feel better if he did yell. She also knew a few that would make it impossible for anyone to really understand what he was saying, and at this point she wouldn't be afraid to use them either.

"You don't think they're gonna like fight all year or anything do you?" Doracs asked Remus and Lily.

"At this point Doe I don't think I could safely assume anything about this matter," Remus said shrugging his shoulders, "after all he didn't talk to her all summer, but I mean this fight has been going on forever it feels like so who knows." He said wishing they'd just make up and be done fighting; because well when they fought it was like the cold war.
Tom looked around once they'd arrived at their destination. "This place my dear Bella is where we're going to complete going over the curses," He told her with a twisted smile on his lips. "I even have a surprise for you," he added leading her into the run down building on the property. If there was one thing that Tom was good at, aside from curse's and getting people to follow him, of course, it was always being prepared.

"You see these two were found snooping around last night, and well we can't have people snooping and figuring out anything we have planned before we're ready for them to know. Because if we want to win the war that's coming we need to be five steps ahead, at all times." He told her walking around the man and woman who were hanging by their hands from the ceiling. "And one of the best ways to be five steps ahead is to make sure you always know what the other side has planned. Which is where you and these two come in." He told her looking at her.

"I want you to do whatever necessary to get them to talk. I want them to spill their guts to you, and then maybe if they give us what we want we'll spare them." He said laughing a sick twisted laugh. There was no way these two were going anywhere. Maybe they'd be easier to get to talk if they thought they could get away though. Either way they'd talk. He just hated to have to spend time he could be using recruiting people to his side torturing people for information. It'd be so much easier just to kill them, but that'd be no good because then he wouldn't have any more information than he already did. So he figured that his side might as well get some use out of these two.

Sirius should have been taken back by her outburst, but he was smarter than most people around here. He knew Marlene was secretly a fireball, but that fire was growing so much more every day in her eyes. "Hey," he said, raising his hands and smirking, "hold the fire. I was just going to ask if we can talk later." To be honest, he was testing her again and he wondered if she would notice. He wanted to force her to sneak out, test her commitment to their friendship and to adventure; the adventure Sirius lusted for.

He casted a point look at James and Remus, shrugging casually as if to profess his innocence. He was making an effort, just like they asked, but he was only going to make one effort. This was it, the final test. If she didn't pass, Sirius was out. He looked around, catching Lily's worried eyes as if they were going to duel in the middle of the ceremony, but Sirius just waited. Light danced playfully in his eyes, wondering and hoping she would take the bait.

    -----

Bella followed Tom, hanging onto his every word and the excited look on his face. When he said he had a surprise for her, she felt the excitement singe through the air, through both of them and she couldn't wait. When she saw her surprise, wriggling in the air, but not saying a word. She wondered why they didn't scream, but rather they watched her and Tom as if they were only afraid of one of them and it certainly wasn't her. While she appreciated the power Tom instilled in people, she wished they would look at her the same way. She paced around them, wondering what exactly she was going to do.

"Crucio," she said, the incantation rolling off her tongue like a sweet serenade. The electricity she knew was in them, as their screamed pierced the still air, flowed through her in an entirely different way; it was pleasure. She gasped and let her wand down, whimpers following her exhale of air. She wasn't used to the power, but to say she enjoyed it was an under statement.

"Please," she heard and her eyebrow raised. "We don't kno-" but she cut him off again. She didn't want to listen any longer, it was as if she was low enough to feel pity for these traitors. Her curse rang through the air again and she searched the room for the approval she desperately needed. She wanted to see him smile, to make him smile as much as she was smiling, but she couldn't find Tom. She had to remind herself that while this was fun, she had a purpose.

"Stop lying," she said, using her wand to lower the male to her face. She hovered just inches from his sweating face and she heard him whimper again; that was the fear she wanted. "Isn't this what you wanted? You wanted to see what we were up to and now you know. So tell me, what do you know?" She asked, stepping away and lifting her wand again.

Marlene pursed her lips and tucked her stray pieces of hair behind her ears. "Fine," she finally said pretty sure she knew what he was up to. "Just name the time and I'll be there," she told him also pretty sure she knew where they'd be meeting to talk. The place they always went to talk. Which, of course, this meant she'd have to sneak out of her dorm but well what kind of life was a life without a little risk.

"Are you two sure this is a good idea?" Lily finally asked looking between the both of them. Clearly worried someone would get hurt or something. But Marlene wasn't as worried. She'd just meet up with Sirius at whatever time he wanted to talk to her and they'd talk or whatever. Honestly, she was only agreeing to this whole thing because didn't want to fight with him anymore. She missed him though she wouldn't tell him or anyone else that. It was a pride thing. And maybe sometimes she could seem like she wanted nothing to do with him and all, but well he kind of got under her skin like no one else. Which annoyed her, plus she was worried that if it was obvious that she liked him and knew she needed him in her life that he'd find a way in and hurt her. Even if he didn't do it on purpose.

"We'll be fine Lily," Marlene said softly turning back towards the ceremony.
Tom stood back and let Bella take control this time. He wanted to see what she could do and if she'd taken their previous lesson's to heart. Which by the looks of things it would seem she had. That made him happy really. He couldn't have been prouder than he was in that moment of her. After all, she was torturing the two people in front of him for information like she was born do to it. Which he felt she was born to do this, and it made him all that more comfortable having her on his side. Really all he wanted from his followers was for them to fully behind his plans. He needed them to be 100% committed. And what Bellatrix was showing him by doing whatever had to be done to get information proved that she was.

The only thing wrong was that they weren't talking yet. And he didn't doubt that after a while together they could get this pair to talk. But he wanted it to go a little bit quicker, after all, there were other things that needed to be done. More people who needed to be caught and tortured until they had the information they needed. Just like there were more people that needed to be recruited to their side. So it was his turn to do what needed to be done.

"You can tell us that you don't know anything all you want," he said walking around the pair again, "but you see we don't believe you. We know you know something. Why else would you be sneaking around here like you had something to hide? So you're going to tell us what you know, or else we're going to kill one of you but not the other," he said slowly. And he meant it. Even if these two weren't romantically involved people on the good side always tended to really feel awful when they lost one of their own. Even if it was for the cause. And he got the feeling if he killed one of them in front of the other and then left the other one to live they'd eventually give in. Maybe beg for their life a little, but they'd tell him what he wanted to know sooner or later. That he'd make sure of.

    @ Sirius Black..

After decided a time with Marlene, around midnight to be exact, Sirius decided to focus on the rest of the ceremony. He watched and cheered for the newest Gryffindors and rolled his eyes at newest Slytherin, seeing more of his family in him than in himself. He didn't really think of Marlene as they ate the Start-of-Term Feast, but only because he was too focused on eating all of the food he possibly could for it never stopped coming. He waited as the tiny heads of the newest Gryffindors followed their prefects to their rooms, stumbled himself over the entry word ('gillyweed') and sat laughing in the chairs of the common room with his friends until the fire was only embers. Many people had gone to bed and left in his careful possession was James' invisibility cloak which he left resting on his lap until Marlene arrived.

He was nervous, though he would never show it, because he couldn't remember the last time (or if ever) he and Marlene had been alone. Or rather it was that he could not remember the last time they were alone and he hadn't yet noticed just how pretty she was. Either way, he sat, fist clenched, watching the fire and wondering if she really would show up. James and Lily, the shining Head Boy and Girl they were, tried to talk him out of this, but there was no swaying him. He wouldn't be swayed especially since he knew James was mainly speaking on Lily's behalf because when he finally went off to bed, he turned and gave Sirius a wink; James was always up for a little trouble.

It seemed like forever, but finally the clock struck 12 and the common room was silent except for the ticking of the clock and Sirius shuffling his feet as he waited. It seemed he was waiting all night and he was straining to hear the shuffle of feet on the stairs, but it seemed like they would never come. Maybe he was impatient or nervous or a nasty combination of the two, but he just wanted to see her sooner.

    -----

Bellatrix stepped back, rocking carefully onto the balls of her feet to see what Tom was going to do and to hear what he was saying. He was voice was so soft, but sure and the threat came out more as a promise, indeed. She was curious, of course, as to why Tom had decided on this plan of action. Surely death was worse than loneliness and he knew that more than anyone. On this endless quest to make her lord immortal (the creation of four horcruxes), did he really begin to think that being alone was worse than being dead? She wasn't sure and this frustration caused her to bite her lip and wobble slightly on her toes.

The woman finally spoke up then, causing another curious development in this fragile situation, "Do whatever you want to us. You may have power here, but you are nothing. Not while Dumbledore and Hogwarts lives," she spat. She almost literally spat on his feet and Bella felt the anger in her spike.

"How dare you!" Bella hollered, her voice rumbling in her chest. She stepped forward, raising her wand and let another Crucio slip from her lips and this was had more power than the last. If Tom had taught her anything it was that you had to mean, to feel and also enjoy the curses and that was exactly what she intended to do. She would feel her disgust coming out as the woman screamed and enjoy the sensation of teaching someone a lesson. She looked to Tom, hoping that he'd give her permission to kill her and complete the curses as he promised. Her eyes pleaded, almost asking him to let her do it this once and he was the only person she would ever ask for permission from.

Marlene sat and watched the rest of the sorting ceremony clapping and cheering for all the new Gryffindors. She clapped for everyone else too, just not as loudly. And when it was all over she enjoyed the feast with her friends. She wasn't thinking or stressing over meeting Sirius after curfew. All she wanted was to enjoy the feast with her friends before it was over and their days were taken over by classes through the week and homework over the weekend. Which she knew she wouldn't have homework every weekend, but it was her last year at Hogwarts and so she knew this year would be the hardest. Maybe not the hardest when it came to the amount of work or anything but the hardest when it came to staying focused and things.

When the feast was finally over though she walked with the rest of her house out of the great hall and up the many flights of stairs to the Gryffindor common rooms. Where like most of the other seventh years she found somewhere to sit in the common room surrounded by some of her friends and they talked about everything. Their summers, how excited they were to be back, how this was year they were all going to make count, and what they had planned for the future came up but was just as quickly put to an end. Because no one really wanted to discuss that just yet, after all with everything that was going on outside of Hogwarts at that very moment it was a little scary to talk or think about it. And then around 11:30 she went up to her room with everyone else. Just so, she could finally change into something more comfortable, and she'd needed to grab something from her trunk.

Then at midnight as promised Marlene made her way as quietly as possible out of her dorm and into the common room to meet Sirius like she'd promised. "I'm here as promised," she said walking over to the couch he was sitting on. "So let's get on with this," she added wanting this to be over already. She'd shown up and planned to go along with whatever else Sirius wanted from her so they could be on speaking terms again. Honestly, she'd been waiting what felt like forever for this to happen so the quicker they could put everything behind them and he'd speak to her again she'd feel a lot better.
"You're a pathetic fool," Tom started with the girl. "You really think Dumbledor and Hogwarts can save you? That they can save anyone?" He said with a mirthless laugh and shaking his head. "Finish them both off Bellatrix, they're no use to us anymore," he told her. There may have been a time when he wouldn't have dared go against Dumbledor in fear of how powerful the man was. And there maybe have been a time when Hogwarts would've seemed like something he could never take, but he didn't think that way anymore. Tom had already successfully created four Horcruxes and was well on his way to creating at least two more. That alone made him immortal until they were destroyed which was why he'd hidden the ones he'd made in safe places no one would ever find them.

He couldn't help but find it a little funny though that these people believed that Dumbledor alive would be all they needed to stop him. Honestly, if anyone was going to stop him they were going to need a lot more than an old man who wasn't nearly as amazing as everyone thought he was. Tom however didn't really see anyone stopping him though. He was going to fulfill his plans. With his followers, he was going to take over. He would be a supreme ruler and everyone would be afraid of him. Rightfully so of course. And when the time was right he would rid the world of muggle-born witches and wizards, and muggles in general. Or at least the majority of them, so the ones who would defy him. There was nothing stopping him. And even though it would be hard he'd willingly get rid of any purebloods who did the same. After all when he was the ruler he couldn't have anyone defying him and not being punished.

Sirius smirked, letting his feet fall onto the floor and pulling the invisibility cloak from his pocket. "Well, you look lovely this morning, Marlene," he said, shaking the cloak and lifting up to put around them both. Sirius was a little too tall, causing their ankles to be seen, but no one was actually going to be looking for them so he paid no mind to their feet showing.

Once under their cloak, he smiled at her and their breath mingled under the cover of the cloak. They were close, really close and Sirius again wondered why he was nervous now of all times. He never gets nervous in front of girls, they were nothing compared to his friends and maybe that was the problem; Marlene was as much his friend as she was beautiful.

    "We're here," he whispered, chuckling.
Watching Tom turn away, the anger twisting his features made Bella's gut twist in a similar way and it was almost without thinking that she raised her wand in the lightning bolt motion. The decrepit building began glowing with such a bright intensity of light that it almost hurt Bella's eyes. She was, however, more focused on how the curse hit her. As soon as she muttered the words, she felt the air get sucked out of her body, felt the rushing wind following the bright green flash of light.

The silence that following rocked Bella on her feet and she let her wand dangle by her side. It truly felt as if she'd put her entire self into that curse and she almost stumbled to her feet afterward, but she was nervous that Tom would see her as weak. She blinked twice, the silence of death encircling them like a blanket and she wouldn't dare speak and break this silence like glass. Though she felt tired, she smiled softly to herself for she knew now that she had passed every test, she had done everything he needed her to do. She truly was his most superior pupil.

Marlene smiled and let Sirius throw the cloak around them. "You're such a suck up sometimes," she told him. She didn't doubt that she looked lovely. Honestly, she usually told herself she looked lovely all the time even if she didn't feel lovely. It waa a confidence building thing she did. However, right now she was in her pajamas and a pair of bunny slippers, she'd also just got done listening to Lily lecture her for all of ten seconds while she walked away about how this was a bad idea. Marlene was sure if she looked like anything it was an annoyed seventeen-year-old. She was also ready to just patch things up with Sirius and finally be able to put the whole thing behind them. "But thanks, you look dashing yourself," she added as they left the common room for their spot.

The whole walk towards the astronomy tower Marlene couldn't help but notice how close they were walking, or how nice it felt when their hands would brush against each other for a moment. She couldn't help the way her heart beat a little bit faster when she was around him, or how badly she wanted to kiss him and makeup. But she didn't do that, she kept her cool. Honestly, it was because she didn't know really what was about to happen with them. Were they going to make up or would it end up fighting again making this one fight even worse. It already felt like it was never going to end, the last thing she wanted was for that to actually be true.

"I guess we can take this cloak off then," she whispered knowing when she cloak came off they wouldn't have to stand so close until they headed back, and right now that was probably a good thing.
"Very good Bella," Tom said feeling his lips curl up into a sickly sweet smile. He wasn't usually the type to be proud of people, and something did happen and he did find himself proud of someone he usually didn't say anything about it because he felt like it was a sign of weakness almost. After all he was the most powerful, he was the leader, and he didn't want people to look up to him and hope that he'd compliment them or treat better because they did one thing right that he really liked. He wanted people to fear him, follow him, and stand by him and his cause no matter the cost. Something that in that moment he knew Bellatrix would do.

"I'm very proud to have you on my side," he told her deciding then that the only time he would ever tell someone he was proud of them was right then and there. Because she deserved something from him, that he was sure of. He was also sure that he would do whatever it took to make sure she was never swayed by the good side. Though that didn't even seem like a possibility to him. Either way he'd take whatever precautions he needed to ensure she was faithful and that it stayed that way. He couldn't have possibly the best dark wizard he'd ever seen aside from himself ever doubt that where she was working on his side was where she belonged.

The walk to the astronomy tower was excruciating, at best. He found himself wishing to be as courageous as he tells his friends to be and seize the moment, seize the girl while he could. He didn't want to fight anymore, he wanted to spend their last year at Hogwarts together, all as one. It would make James and Lily exceedingly happy and he owed them his entire life. Hogwarts had become his home and he certainly wasn't sure what was going to happen after Hogwarts and that frightened him.

Sirius let the cloak slip from around them, but he didn't step away. "Marlene, we could get in so much trouble for this," he said, smirking at her. The air in the tower was cold, but the light was so soft that it reflected so gently off her skin and his fingers itched to touch her. He willed himself to move, but he didn't and somehow that was okay. "I guess, thank you. I'm glad you came up here with me. I guess I'm...sorry for the way I acted this summer," he said, whispering his apology.

It should have bothered him to say sorry, to accept that maybe he was too harsh on her, but it didn't. The way she looked at him made him weak and
Bella almost purred with his praise and she fixed her corset so she could stand a little taller. She knew that, if she wasn't before, she had perfectly solidified her position as his right hand woman. She knew that the war was boiling up and it was only a matter of time. Tom had already hidden his last horcrux, Rowena Ravenclaw's Diadem, and they had infiltrated the Wizarding World's great weakness, the magical creatures. Voldemort was rising safely and people were beginning to call it war. It seemed like a long time, almost 8 years, but Bella knew that this kind of perfection took time.

There were no forces rising up, even Albus Dumbledore seemed to think that this would all settle, as if just simply his wisdom and power would calm the storm. She almost laughed, knowing that things were steadily getting worse. Though Hogwarts remained safe, the rest of world was in utter turmoil. "What's next, my Lord. We've already done so much, who do we need to beat next?" She asked, butterflies of excitement churning in her stomach.

Walking to the astronomy tower under the cloak Marlene couldn't help but notice how close they were, or how every so often their arms would graze against each other. She couldn't deny that she felt sparks, it was also beyond her as to how Sirius could be the only guy she'd ever known who could make her feel sparks by barely touching her when he didn't even mean to. Or how he was the only guy, aside from the obvious guys like James, her brothers, and father, of course, who she would forgive no matter what they'd done. Sirius could've, and had actually, broken her heart and even then she was still so willing to forgive him because she needed him in her life.

"That's what makes it exciting," Marlene whispered biting her lip and looking at Sirius once the cloak came off. She bit her lip and listened when he started talking again. "Of course, we're friends and I'd told you I'd come," she said not sure what she was doing until she'd found herself grabbing his hand in her own and lacing their fingers together. "Apology accepted. And I'm sorry for acting how I did to make you believe the worst in me to begin with,"
Tom looked at Bellatrix with yet another sickly sweet smile. "We have already completed so much, but there is still much to be done before we're completely ready for the war that's brewing," he told her glad to know he could count on her no matter what. It really was so hard to come by good loyal servants theses days. "For starters we're going to need to continue recruiting as many people as possible. Preferably more werewolves and giants. Though they're a bit harder to convince than one would think. However, we must do whatever it takes. We can't have them joining the good side. Also, I know those two fools you just killed clearly they knew something. I'd say they were probably working for Dumbledor and his secret order I've heard rumors about. We need to find a way in. A rat if will. Someone, we can convince to be a double agent. Then we'll have someone on the inside and nothing will be able to touch us," he told her knowing it was a lot, but it was what needed to be done in order for them to win the war.

Sirius smiled, squeezing her hands and pulling her towards the edge of the tower. "Out of all the things we can see, out of all the things that are happening in the world, I will always see the best in you, Marlene." He raised her hand to his lips and kissed her knuckles, trying not to be embarrassed or nervous. He knew it was very forward of him, but he knew that the wizarding world was beginning to crumble in front of them and how much time did they really have to fret? Muggles were being killed left and right and while Hogwarts was safe, their time there was already waning.

"This is going to be our year, okay?" He said, kissing her knuckles again before lowering their hands. "I can feel it in our bones. We're gonna win the House Cup, we're going to get the best jobs in the entire wizarding world. We're going to be the good in the world," he said smiling, looking out across the grounds.
Bella tapped her fingers against her chin for the hardest thing to find was a mole to place in Hogwarts. She wondered silently if her cousin would do, but knew that Sirius had always been a black sheep (and not in the good 'Black' way) and she had to abandon that idea immediately. She bit her lips, frustrated that she was coming up short when he had just become so proud of her. "Well have to find a way to scope out the Seventh Years and maybe something will be revealed there. Dumbledore always looks for budding talent, but he often shafts those who bud in a different way than what he considers 'good.' Trying to plant someone will be seen through, you need a new body," she said, corking a brow and wondering if that idea would suffice.

Marlene smiled back before tucking some stray hair behind her ear and then looking out over the edge at the grounds. From where they were you could honestly see everything on that side of the castle. Which included the lake, the forest, Hagrid's hut, and off in the distance she could make out the quidditch pitch. "It's so beautiful up here," she said softly before biting her lip. "You know to win the house cup we have to have the most house points right?" She asked him just trying to picture winning the house up and rubbing it in the Slytherin's faces. "But considering well, the two of us and then of course James, Peter, and Remus are all in the same house that doesn't seem like the most likely thing to happen," she told him pretty sure given this was their last year that the pranks would be a tad bit more intense, and well Marlene didn't plan to take shit from anyone. Though when did she ever really. "Winning the quidditch cup would be a more reasonable thing for us to win, and well I'm not sure I'm ready to think about what's going to happen after this place," she said just feeling saddened thinking about it.
"I believe there's a way to get a mole into Hogwarts. I haven't figured out how yet, and I'm sure Dumbledor will have an even closer watch on the students this year than ever before given everything that's going on. But I haven't lost faith that we'll figure something out," he said wishing his plan was more thought out already. He wanted to have this done by now. However, he did know that things like this took time. "We need to find a weak link. Maybe even a wink link no one knows about. There's always a wink link, we just have to find it and use it. Do you have any contacts still at Hogwarts who could help? Or am I going to have to find someone new to send in and simply make the mole?" He asked not entirely sure how that would work or who he could possibly use, but he would find a way have a mole in Hogwarts so he could have all the information he needed. Even if it required lots of potions.

Sirius smiled at her, watching her eyes scan the grounds, "What's going to happen? Well, that's simple," he said, almost chuckling. He turned to face the grounds with her, "We're going to all get a big place together and do whatever these damn institution says we're qualified for and live happy lives. We'll have kids and house elves and we can all talk fondly of how we won the Quidditch Cup our senior year." He turned to her and winked, hoping to ease the troubled look in her eyes.

His fingers twitched to comfort her, to move the hair from in front of her face and tuck it behind her ear. He urged to kiss her again and wondered if they would only do that here, like a secret. What an enticing idea, he thought.
Bella could only think of one person that she knew at Hogwarts, her cousin Sirius Black. It was 1976 and she knew that he had just begun his last year at Hogwarts. In June he would sit for his N.E.W.T.S and finish and she wondered if he would be inclined to join their side. All the others she knew had already joined, Lucius Malfoy and her sister, Narcissa, who had just been married a year ago. She bit her lip, Sirius had always been a weird one, a Gryffindor. "Well, my cousin is in his last year there. It would be prime picking and the Black family is every loyal to you, sir," she said with a rocking curtesy of sorts.
