Back in Black

Meykell bit her lip, walking up to her friend Johnny's house. It was his birthday today, and she wanted to make it special. She had brought him a present, something that she hoped he would like. She had overheard him speaking about wanting to learn to skateboard, so she brought him a skateboard and booked him in for a week of skateboarding lessons. Hesitating, she knocked on the door. Despite her heavy eye makeup and clothing attire, Meykell was very shy. Very unlike her music tastes. Tapping her foot, she looked down at her feet, rethinking if she should of done this.

It was Johnny's birthday, and Jimmy wanted to make it special. So, here he was, buying loads of alcohol for his friend's special do. He was scheduled to go there in two hours, so he thought he could drink a few in the park before hand. After he walked out of the shop, he noticed a paticular person walking down the road. "Hey, Kimberly!" Jimmy waved, grinning wide as he jogged up to her. "Need a drink?" He nodded towards his approximately thirty cans of beer.

Kim looked over at the beer and smiled sadly. "Jimmy, I'd rather not. It's really not a good idea for us to be doing that and you know that," she told him quietly while biting down on her bottom lip gently. She was the youngest of the group, at just twenty years old and she was also considered the goody two-shoes of the group. Kim sighed quietly and licked over her lips lightly. "But I'd be glad to come with you to keep you out of trouble," she said with a smile. She knew how he could be and knew how much trouble he could get into when he drank.

Johnny bounded down the stairs as he buttoned his shirt, not expecting Mey to show up at his house since they had said that they would meet at the party. He opened the door and his eyes widened before he broke out into a bright smile when he saw his best friend. "Mey!" he exclaimed, pulling her into a hug. It was his birthday and he was excited because he had just been accepted into the band he had been wanting to be in for awhile. He was the youngest but he could play the hell out of the bass.

Meykell let out a happy sigh, hugging Johnny back. Once she pulled away, she picked up the wrapped skateboard and the little gift voucher which allowed him his lessons, and passed them to him. "S-Sorry if it is not much... I-It was all I could afford, and I-I want this to be special.. Y-You've been accepted into the b-band and its your birthday." Meykell normally had a small stutter when her nerves kicked in, as she managed a small smile. "Happy birthday, Johnny." Biting her lip, she looked down at her feet, waiting for him to open it.

Jimmy grinned wide, looking at Kimberly. "If I wanted to get drunk with someone, it would be you, because I'd know you would keep me away from the police." With his signature smirk, he fished out a beer and opened it. "You know, I'm beginning to think Meykell has a thing for Johnny, don't ya think? They would make a nice couple, since they are both the same height and all that." He said the last part with a minuscule giggle, as he gulped down the beer.

Kim started pulling Jimmy away from the truck and into the park, heading toward their secret spot. She really didn't want to get him locked up for drinking in public which sometimes happened when she wasn't around. "I really don't want to talk about them," she muttered to him. They had been best friends for what seemed like forever and she had kept him out of all the trouble she could manage, just like Val had with Matt. What always upset her was that he was the one that got Matt and Val together and now he was trying to get the new people to the group together and it bugged her that he didn't realize how much she loved him. He was always blind to her feelings for him but it was probably because he didn't feel the same.

Johnny looked at the gift in surprise. He wasn't expecting her to get him anything because she was in her senior year of high school and he had dropped out. He hadn't seen her in so long so he didn't know if she had a job or not but it really shocked him. "Wow, thanks!" he exclaimed before opening the gift. His eyes widened when he saw the skateboard and he set it down before pulling Mey into a tight hug. "You are possibly the best friend ever," he whispered into her ear.

Meykell knew she would be just a friend to Johnny, despite her feelings. But hey, she would like to get all these hugs and best friend remarks before he got famous and forgets about her. "R-Really?" She questioned, looking at Johnny as he pulled away. "I-I mean.. It's not the best gift, b-but I could o-only afford this..." The secret was that this was out of her university money, but Meykell didn't want to go to university, despite how her parents protested. Meykell wanted to become an artist, drawing and painting was her thing. Sliding her hands into her jacket pockets, she looked inside the house. "C-Can I come in, o-or is this a bad time..?"

"Is everything alright?" Jimmy asked, turning his body to look at Kimberly. "...Kim?" It pained Jimmy to see Kimberly in a sad state, or even remotely sad, because it made his heart break. He never liked seeing a girl sad, especially not Kimberly. They were complete opposites, she was the 'goody two-shoes' as Brian describes it, and Jimmy was the rule breaker... But why did Jimmy hate to see her in sadness??

Kim turned her head to look at Jimmy and smiled lightly, nodding her head a bit. "Yeah, Jim, I'm fine," she told him quietly as she sighed quietly. "I just don't get why you make it your job to get people together," she told him with a shrug. She watched a little kid run by them screaming, causing her to sigh. She grabbed Jimmy's shirt and tugged him into the unknown path to others, leading him to their secret spot. She sat on one of the tree trunks and looked up at Jimmy.

Johnny furrowed his eyebrows before stepping to the side and waving her in. "It's never a bad time for you," he told her honestly. Even if there was a girl there, he'd probably kick her out for Mey. She was his everything, his best friend. She had been there for him since the beginning and she would hopefully be there until the end. When he kept talking about being in Jimmy's band, she always encouraged him and told him they'd let him in the band one day.

Meykell smiled and thanked Johnny, as she walked inside. "You happy about being in the band?" She asked in a small voice, looking around the place. "Can you play the bass for me?" Most times when Meykell went around Johnny's, he would play bass for her. She found it soothing and relaxing, plus she had a lot on her mind with all these final exams coming up. With a small smile, she thought about Johnny as she looked at a picture of him when he was young. Mey really liked him, the chances were that Johnny wouldn't like her back, but she could dream.

Jimmy frowned, as his brows furrowed. "I like to make others happy..." He said honestly, with a small smile. "It makes me smile, seeing people together. Plus, I think if I brush up on my match making skills, it will help me win the girl of my dreams." With a happy sigh, he looked up at the sky. He had hinted many times at Kimberly that he liked her, but the chances of her getting those hints were slim. Looking over at Kimberly, he leaned back onto the grass. "So, anyone you like currently Kim?"

Kim stopped suddenly in shock, looking over at Jimmy with slightly wide eyes. She bit down on her bottom lip gently as she swallowed the forming lump in her throat. "I... uh..." she stuttered, coughing nervously. She had been in love with Jimmy since they were fifteen and she just never figured out how to tell him. And he always seemed to date other people so she never had the chance. "I've had my eye on this... One guy for... A pretty long time," she told him quietly, emphasizing the word 'long' to hint to him that it was him.

Johnny smiled at Mey brightly and nodded his head. He went and picked up his guitar, plugging it in to the amp. He started to play a slow tune for her, knowing that she needed to relax. "Is everything okay?" he asked her curiously. She usually wanted him to play when something was going on in her life. And he loved playing for her because he liked her and had liked her for as long as he could remember.

"Just exams and all that stuff... Prom is just around the corner, and nobody has even approached me. So, looks like it will be another year without dancing with someone..." Shrugging her shoulders, she closed her eyes as Johnny played the music. "I don't mind. I-I mean, it would be nice, but I don't want to push it." Especially when the guy you wanted to go with was right in front of you, and you didn't have the guts to ask him out.

Jimmy tilted his head, before smiling gently. "Its me, isn't it?" He asked with a gentle voice, very different to his normal boisterous voice. "If it is, I would be over the moon, knowing that this wasn't a half sided feeling. If it isn't, I'd feel like I've just made a fool out of myself." With another sip of his beer, he looked over at Kimberly. "Are you always shy.... Because of me?"

Kim stared at Jimmy with shock written across her face. After all the time she had tried hinting to him that she was in love with him, it took him until now to realize that it was him that she liked and wanted to be with. "Yeah, it is," she said quietly while shrugging a shoulder lightly. "You make me nervous and I just... don't want to make a fool of myself in front of you," she told him quietly.

"I'll go to the prom with you," Johnny commented casually, not wanting to make her uncomfortable because he wasn't sure if she liked him or not. He sighed and bit down on his bottom lip gently as he continued to play, looking down at his bass. He was so nervous for her reaction and he didn't want to see her face when she did react,

A bright smile came across Meykell's features, as she walked towards Johnny. Simply, she hugged him. "T-Thank you, Johnny.. Y-You don't know what that means to me." Pulling away from him, she was aware her face was probably red from her embarrassment of what she just said, as she pulled at the bottom of her jumper. "I-I mean... I-I know we are b-best friends, and a-all that... B-But, I don't wanna be j-just... You know..." Biting her lip, she looked down at the ground. "I just... R-Really like you, Johnny."

"Hopefully this will make you less nervous." Leaning forward, he pecked Kimberly's lips quickly, before pulling away but still he hovered inches from her face. "Kimberly, you don't know how happy I am to hear that. I'm nervous around you, in case I scare you off or you think I'm an utter goofball." With a small chuckle, he spread his arms out. "Wanna hug Jimbo?" They normally hugged as friends, but Jimmy wanted this to be a special 'Jimbo' hug.

Kim's eyes widened when Jimmy kissed her and she brought her hand up to her lips, pressing her fingers to them, touching them lightly as she stared at him in shock. "Jimmy, I love your goofiness," she admitted to him quietly. She laughed when he asked her for a hug and then practically threw herself in his arms, hugging him tightly. She buried her face in his chest, breathing in his musky scent and sighing quietly in conent as she hugged him.

Johnny looked at Mey in shock and stared at her in confusion. He never knew that she liked him and he was guessing that she had hinted to him but he was oblivious to it because he was usually blind to those types of things. "Mey... You really like me?" he asked her quietly as he pulled away and placed his hands on her shoulders, staring into her eyes with a small smile.

"Y-Yep.. I r-really like you, Johnny. You've a-always been there for me, and since a young age... I-I've just... I really l-like you, but h-hopefully me saying t-this won't ruin our... R-Relationship..." Biting her lip, she looked into his eyes. "I-I just love you... D-Do you like me Johnny?" With a small voice, she looked down at her feet, embarrassed if she juts made a fool out of herself.

Jimmy hugged Kimberly, as he rested his head on top of hers. She smelt wonderful, the lavender and strawberries he smelt just made him smile. She always smelt beautiful. "Kim... You are amazing." He mumbled into her hair, soon pulling away from her to capture her lips in another small kiss. "You don't know how long I've felt like this.. I'm glad that you feel the same." He said with his regular goofy smile.

Kim hugged Jimmy back tightly and laughed softly as she kept holding onto him, not wanting to let him go. She didn't want to let him go because she finally had him where she wanted and admitting to his similar feelings that it made her never want to let him go. "I'm glad to know that you feel the same way. I've felt this way since we were fifteen," she confessed to him softly. "Can we just... Stay here forever?" she laughed as she clung to him.

Johnny chuckled quietly and wrapped his arms around Mey, pulling her into a tight hug. "I've liked you for as long as I can remember," he told her quietly into her ear. He wasn't sure if dating her would be a good idea because of him touring and what not but he was going to give it a try and if it didn't work out then he was going to make sure they stayed friends. "After the prom we'll start going on dates but then I've got tour after that," he told her softly.
