Oh I know what you mean. I think back to the stories I devoured and loved, but now I shuddered. For instance I loved the Marked series by PC Cast and her daughter but when I got into book blogs and thought out reviews I see the flaws, which in turn made me realize how awful that Zoey chick was. So many novels choose a common idea. There's nothing wrong with that, however, if there's no voice to it, nothing to set it apart, then it certainly becomes like the others. Has there been any real life situation novel that you thought was good? What are some fantasy ones you love? I'm trying to read more of that after I got caught up in a series I love.

Oh romances, yes, yes I have that thought, too! It can't just be all happy ending; I feel bad when I muttered for something bad to happen, because Disney is nice but not exactly reality. Have you tried Sarah Dessen? I enjoyed a lot of her books. I mean, the overall storylines are pretty identical to each other but I like to think they're each different from each other

I started writing in 7th grade, vampire lover sort of and I tried that in my first story. But too many twins lol and the very typical, tv/movie setting of high school. I drift a bit too much with my old stories. He'll I wished I hadn't deleted them you would have saw what I was talking about (x I will most definitely take you up on that offer. I really like the criticism even if it pains the heart to know the first shot wasn't the one

Hi guys, I'm Gabbie. I'm not new, but I've never really posted when I used to be on here a lot, and then crap happened, and I decided to come back and find some inspiration to get writing again. What better place to do that than here? Cool
But yeah. Just wanted to say hello. Bye

Hey, my names Gina. I was on mibba years ago as lecielnousaide (I think I was 16 at the time; I'm 26 now) where I posted mostly MCR fanfictions, but that account is so old I no longer have access to it because the email I used has been deactivated for a few years. I came back because I finally got through a roughly 10 year bout of writer's block. I just posted the first chapter to a brand-new Asking Alexandria fanfic (I just got into them recently after years of meaning to get their music), and it seems like Mibba isn't what I remember it to be...I never struggled getting readers, comments, and subs on my MCR fics, but this one has only had one reader! I know for a fact my writing is better than it ever has been (despite lack of story ideas, I've still been honing my writing skills) since I try to keep improving. I was wondering if there's anything different I need to do now to get readers...basically how to promote it. I've had my personal friends read it on LiveJournal, and they love it so far so I don't think I'm doing anything wrong really. I'd just love to know how to get more readers the reason I posted it on here was for people I don't know to read it and give me constructive criticism/let me know what they think since I remembered fanfics having no issue getting readers. I'll provide a link below...as a heads up, being a fan of Asking Alexandria is not necessary with the he way I'm writing it to be able to read and enjoy it!

Hi welcome (back) to Mibba! It's like that for everyone because most of mibba decided to use the recc and sub buttons as ways show they like a story in opposed to giving feedback (which is sad but not completely terrible). There are some ways you can promote your stories though~ Join a contest (if your contest entries fit into the contests), put links to your stories in your signature, write a blog for a comment swap, put your stories into the Mibba Magazine Review Recc thread. There's also the the Leave a Comment, Take a Comment thread. Otherwise, talk to people on here and read their stories. I honestly can't say that you'll get a bunch of comments all in one day but over time you can build a reader base. I think it helps to be just active and interact with other members on this site. It also helps to try and be in as many fandoms as possible or in the least, to treat a fanfic/story for a fandom you don't know/aren't into as an original fiction.

I'll be glad to check out anything you post though! ^^

Okay cool! Yeah it's been a long time since I've used mibba. Sometimes I can read fanfics for other fandoms if they aren't referencing a bunch of stuff I won't understand (I've seen people do it all the time and nobody outside the fandom can read it) which is why I try to make mine readable to anybody -- I treat it like they've never heard a thing about the fandom I'm writing about. That way it can be read as original fiction, but I can still enjoy writing ^.^

Me too! I've been anticipating a trip out of town all week and finally its Friday and I can't wait.
Its not like we're going anywhere exciting (my fiancee's grandparents house) but we'll get out of the heat for awhile.
I've been playing around on Gaia trying to pass the time because Im procrastinating writing.

I write romances 99% of the time, sub genre'd a few different things. The two main ones I'm working on are a Historial Paranormal Romance and the other Futuristic Scifi Romance. So complete opposites of each other.
What do you write and how long have you been writing for?
