Hunter sat at the desk in his office grading a stack of papers he'd been meaning to grade the night before. He wasn't that far behind on grading so it wasn't a huge deal, and his students would just have to wait a little while longer before they got their papers back, but he was sure they wouldn't mind. One of the many things he enjoyed so much about being a teacher was being able to help the students who came through his doors, as a student of his or not. He wanted to make a difference in their lives, whether that be by making them feel safe and like they always had someone they could turn to if they needed. Or by making sure they were ready for whatever was thrown at them.
Brittany, with her basket hand, made her way towards the laundry mat not far from where she lived. Which she was so very thankful wasn't far really. She was also pretty thankful that it wasn't expensive either, because well she had to face the fact that she was in college and didn't exactly have a ton of money to blow on just anything so she tried to save as much as possible when she could. And doing her laundry for cheap was saving, mostly because it meant she didn't have to put gas in her car and drive home just to clean her clothes for free. Yea she liked going home, and she missed everyone a lot, especially her boyfriend. But going home also meant she'd miss out on prime study time, and well she just preferred going home on longer weekends when she'd have more time to spend with everyone.

[ I honestly had no idea how to start this, so I just kind of with with it. Hope it was okay! Also sorry for the late reply! ]

[sorry for my even later reply! i've had a hectic week of studying and testing.]

Charlotte groaned at the sight of her laptop's screen reading that the internet was still down, meaning that she wouldn't be able to send that email to Professor James at all. She was torn between walking the distance to his office on campus and ignoring the question from the reading altogether. Not that she wanted to blow off her work, it was quite the opposite, but she had been sat on her bed for thirty minutes trying to figure out how to answer the question properly. Charlotte was sort of a stickler for finishing her work in the correct way, and this was exactly why she was shoving her feet into her Converse and trudging out of her house with her book in one hand and her keys in the other, determined to figure out how she was meant to answer the last question for her homework assignment. Plus, they had an essay due soon and she hadn't even started trying to rip that prompt apart. Maybe she'd think about it as she walked to his office. As Charlotte exited her apartment, she shot him a text saying that it was her and she was making her way to his office to ask a couple of questions on the homework, just in case he wasn't even there so she could turn back.
Adrian sat atop the empty laundry machine next to the one washing his clothes, staring angrily at his phone as his girlfriend texted him another paragraph criticizing his communication skills. Every time he started typing something, she would begin typing back, and soon enough, another paragraph of information would pop up. He was started to get annoyed with her, but he couldn't just outright ignore her messages. For the past couple of weeks, the distance between he and Melissa started putting a strain on their relationship, and instead of falling asleep together on Skype they were yelling at each other and slamming their laptops shut. It was all over little things like her accusations of him cheating and his accusations of her cheating (except he had actual truth), and the two could never find common ground anymore. Of course he still loved the girl, but it was beginning to drive him up the damn wall. As the next paragraph appeared, Adrian finally began forming another text message back, typing as fast as his fingers would allow him before she interrupted him again.

Hunter kept his phone on him pretty much at all times. Of course, it was just easier in his line of work that way. As long as his phone was always on him he wouldn't miss a text or call from pretty much anyone who might need to get in touch with him. It also honestly could be used to save someone's life. Then again, that wasn't weird given that with this day and age it was pretty much a technology ran world and everyone carried their phones on them. Now was a prime example of someone needing to get ahold of him though, he felt his phone buzz against the table and picked it up to reply. Sounds great, I'll be here in my office when you arrive so just come on in. Part of his open door policy, after all, was to always be available to help. He'd be a shit professor if he didn't do what he could though.
Brittany hadn't exactly expected anyone else to be doing their laundry. Almost everyone as far as she knew had went home for the three-day weekend coming up. Which to her had meant she'd have the laundry mat all to herself, she'd get a good spot in the library, and she could open her window at night instead of turning on her fan because it wouldn't be noisy outside while she was trying to sleep. Apparently though she'd have to share the laundry mat. It wasn't a big deal though, because at least it was just one guy instead of like ten different people and she wouldn't have to wait to use a washer like the last time she'd decided to laundry on campus. "I see you had the same plan, to do your laundry when nearly everyone else's gone home," she said to the guy sitting on the washer.

Charlotte glanced down at her phone when he texted back before returning it to her pocket. Soon after reading the message, Charlotte arrived on campus and went straight to Professor James' office, smiling at a student from one of her classes she passed on the way. She took a deep breath before knocking on his door, opening it slightly and peeking her head in. "Hi, sorry for the late notice," Charlotte said, sliding inside entirely, closing the door behind her as she took a seat in one of his chairs, "I just had a couple of questions about the homework assignment due in the morning and my internet's down. Mind if I bore you with them for a minute?"
Adrian paid no attention to the voice speaking to him until he realized it was pointed towards him. He glanced up and shrugged, setting his phone next to him on top of the washer. "I like my space," he said simply, motioning towards the nearly empty laundromat, "This seems to be the emptiest place I could find to keep to myself." Adrian bit his lip when his phone vibrated again, deciding to ignore the text for a moment to give himself time to cool down from the heated conversation between he and Melissa. "I've never seen you around here before."

"It's fine," Hunter said as he finished grading the paper he'd been grading before Charlotte walked in. He looked up at smiled at her however when she took a seat across from him. "I'm almost always here and well my office is still open so it's not too late," he told her setting his pen down and moving his stack of papers aside. "So you had questions about the homework. Let's see how I can help with them," he told her glad she'd come to him rather than just not worry about them which he knew some students would do. Luckily he knew that she was a good student and really this fit into the student he knew she was.
Brittany had to agree, she liked her space too. Which was usually why she preferred to study in her room which luckily she had to herself for now. Because it was quiet and all hers, that was probably another reason she really liked three days weekends when everyone went home, but she stayed around campus. Everything was peaceful when she left her room and it was just nice. "Same. That's why I waited to do my laundry until today actually. I knew it'd be empty, or at least nearly empty and I could get it done at my own pace and maybe sit around and read while I waited," she said sure any other time it'd be way too loud to concentrate. "Well it is a pretty big campus, so makes sense that we haven't met yet," she said positive she even hadn't met half the kids who were attending this school. "I'm Brittany by the way,"
