I think that Five Nights at Freddy's 4 is by far the best FNAF game. It really shows how far Scott has come as a developer in just the year since he released the first FNAF game. He's improved my leaps and bounds. I know this is the last FNAF game but I sincerely hope Scott continues as a horror developer. He's given a breath of life to horror gaming and I look forward to his future games.
I think that FNAF 4 is by far the scariest Freddy game. The reason for that is because it is a noise cue game. You have to listen carefully for certain sounds or else you'll lose, and that adds to the scare factor. The jumpscares automatically become scarier because you are forced to listen so hard and concentrate so hard. You're too focused on listening and protecting yourself that the jumpscares end up being scaring you more. The animatronics are also scarier. The game probably would be scary even without jumpscares because of how the animatronics look. Nightmare is a real nightmare. x.x
The moment of hesitation also makes FNAF 4 much scarier. The noise cue creates a hesitation in you. You pause for the few seconds and start to wonder, am I right or wrong? If I turn on the light and I'm wrong, I die. But if I don't do anything... I die. You have to make a choice and those few seconds of hesitation, especially as you advance, create a big tension for the game and it's great.
The end of the game is legitimately sad.
[Spoilers in white]
After the final night, when "Freddy" is speaking to him... It's not actually Freddy. You can tell by the grey text ("Can you hear me? I don't know if you can hear me. I'm sorry.") that it's the player's older brother speaking to him presumably in the hospital. At the end of the scene, if you listen closely, you can hear a flatline. Assumingly, our character dies at the end after the older brother apologizes. :c[/end spoiler]
I've been playing FNAF 4 and I'm kind of stuck on Night 3. Chika keeps killing me.
I've been jumpscared by everyone but the one who got me the most was fucking Foxy.
Shining the light in the closet and being greeted with a screeching Foxy face was
not something I was expecting. Dear lord. Scared the shit out of me haha.
My girlfriend watched me play FNAF 4 once.... Bonnie scared the hell out of her. It was honestly really hilarious.
She's never going to watch me play a horror game ever again though. Kinda sad she didn't get the joy of meeting Foxy.
Spoilers in white:
I wonder what Mibbians think... Do you think the end of the game was really referring to the Bite of '87 or could it be the 'incident that should never be spoken of'? Do people think this is the origin of the puppet? And the box at the end that says "some things should be forgotten for now" (or something of that sort). Do you think it's referring to the promised Halloween DLC?[/end spoiler] I don't know if FNAF 4 has been out long enough where people won't scream "spoiler" at me if I don't mark it haha.
