Gabriel looked out the window of his bedroom, gritting his teeth. He'd been on edge all week, and today had been the worse day. It was a full moon tonight, after all. He could change into his werewolf form at will but the full moon forced the change onto him. It was painful but as he got older he learned to deal with it more. Deeper in the castle, he heard the younger boys shouting and groaning, the change seizing them and forcing it onto them.

He hurried out of the castle, running quickly down the hallway. Normally the halls would be heavily guarded, but not tonight. Everyone was feeling the changes.

He made his way into the empty courtyard, breathing heavily. Under the bare moonlight, he felt his skin tingle, almost so much so that it burned, but he also felt powerful.

Everything was hot, too hot. Gabriel's heart was beating rapidly and he looked up at the sky, his dark eyes becoming golden and he let out a roar, his chest rumbling. The moonlight cast a glow over his face and when he landing on the ground, his body was already reacting. His bones were shifting and everything became blurry.

When he opened his eyes again, his senses had changed. Everything was sharper, clearer. He let out a low growl before he took off running into the forest. His paws were heavy yet silent on the floor, making him the perfect predator.

As he got deeper into the forest, he sniffed. He smelled the other animals; deer, rabbits, a bear sleeping somewhere in the trees. But there was something else too. A heartbeat, one similar to his own. There was a human in the enchanted forest.

He took off running, following the heartbeat. He could hear it in his ears, smell it from the distance. He stopped finally when he was close, stalking through the underbrush silently.

He saw a petite girl over by a patch of flowers and he watched her, letting out a low growl. It wasn't safe here, especially not for humans.

Addison was at her father's party, hating all the people there. Her father had been trying to find her someone to marry, but tonight he seemed to not be worried about it. It scared her a bit, but maybe he had decided to let her do what she wanted. She waited til her mother was distracted before she stepped out of the castle. She made her way through the garden then made her way to the forest. She used the light she had til she got to the clearing she usually went to in the woods. Addison smiled when she saw a beautiful rose in front of her. She picked up and looked down at it.

A growl from the woods got her attention causing her to look over in the direction it came from. She squinted her eyes slightly, trying to make out where the noise was coming from. Addison felt her heart beat pick up a little bit as the fear of what was in the dark took over her.

Addison looked at the flower then stepped back from. She looked behind her then started to back up some more. SHe heard a stick crack and frowned, "Who's there?" She finally spoke. Not that it made a difference. If this thin wanted to hurt her then it would.

Gabriel took in the sight of the human girl before him. She was young, but close in age to him. On closer inspection of her, he realized her to be Addison Jackson, princess of the human coven residing beside his own lycan one.

For as long as he could remember, there had been a war waging between both sides, a struggle for full control of the land. The fact that rogue werewolves had been known to eat humans and lure their women away didn't help, nor the fact that some of the humans hunted the werewolves for their fur, teeth and even heads as prizes.

He knew who she was but he had never personally met her. He was immediately taken by her beauty; she looked different from the women in his coven. More delicate, not nearly as wild.

He stepped forward, revealing his large furry body to her. His fur was dark but his eyes were an alluring golden. His claws were equally as large, but he kept his head slightly down, letting her know he didn't mean her any harm. He got closer to her, picking a flower up in his mouth and walking over to her, holding it up so she could take it.

Addison watched as the wolf approached her, watching as it held the flower out to her. Her shaking hand took the flower from her. Addison was amazed that this wolf was not tearing her apart. Addison looked at the flower then reached her hand out and pet the wolf slowly. please don't bite me she thought. "You're so gorgeous." She whispered as she ran her fingers through the wolf's black fur.

Addison heard her name being called and looked behind her. She pulled her hand away from the wolf then turned and made her way back to the castle. She sneaked inside then went to her room. She put the flowers in water then got ready for bed.

The next morning she got dressed in a beautiful floral dress. She fixed her hair then went downstairs, frowning when she heard her father talking to someone she didn't know. Something about an agreement.

Gabriel's glowing eyes watched her intently as she took the flower, bowing his head to her and letting her pet his dark fur, a low growl rumbling from his stomach as she ran her fingers through his fur, warming up to her. He could feel her pulse, hear her heart beating in his ears. She smelled like cinnamon and left a small hand print in his fur when she moved away.

He quickly dashed back into the forest, not wanting anyone from the party to notice him. Addison might not have known who he was but someone else might recognize his wolf form.

He gave into his urges, running wildly through the forest. He howled, he hunted, he enjoyed the full moon and the strength it gave him.

In the morning, he woke up in the middle of the forest, naked. A deer was watching him and he growled at it, making it run off. He chuckled.

He quickly made his way back to the castle, taking the back way so he'd be less likely to be spotted. He went to see his father and instead found his mother who informed him that he wouldn't be back until much later. Gabriel was suspicious, but set it aside to go see some of his friends.

Addison walked into the kitchen and smiled when she saw there was already breakfast on the table. She was sure her parents had already eaten but she was starving. She sat down, looking at the sun side up eggs and toast on her plate. Addison looked over, seeing a nice side bowl of fruit also. She began to eat then looked around, then smiled when she saw one of the maid, "Good morning Marie." She greeted the older lady. Addison had known Marie for most of her life. Addison went back to eating then relaxed against her seat when she finished.

Addison got up then went to the garden to looked at the flowers. She held her favorite book in her hand then sat on one of the benches near the pink rose bushes. She began to read, hoping that her father would work out whatever deal he was making. He knew how to make everything work out for the better.

Gabriel's father, Lucien Lafayette, had been in charge of the wolf coven since he was sixteen. It had been hard, and always remained challenging, but this was one of the hardest things he had to deal with; deciding how to bring peace between the humans and lycans.

"The only way to bring peace is to join our houses together," he finally decided. "I propose a treaty between the two houses if...my son Gabriel and your daughter Addison can join together in a union. A marriage of sorts, like they did in the old days. People may not agree with it, but ultimately the two houses will be united and maybe we can finally work together instead of against each other."

Gabriel and his best friends Lucas and Nathaniel were walking through the village, talking about how their nights under the full moon had went. Gabriel made sure to leave out the part about meeting a human girl.

"Tonight, at Jackson castle there's going to be this huge party. We should crash it," Lucas said with a mischievous grin on his face.

Gabriel chuckled, thinking of Addison. "I'm in."

Addison stood at the top of the stairs as the party went on. She let her hands rest on the banister as she scanned over the party and sighed. Addison looked over as her friend, Emily came to get her to come downstairs. Addison walked down the stairs with her and got herself something to drink. Her father still had yet to mention who he made a treaty with. She bit her bottom lip lightly as she made her way through the crowd. Addison frowned when she heard Emily talk to someone about werewolves being in the party. She sighed, knowing it would cause issues.

Addison's father, Caspian, came up behind Gabriel, Lucas and Nathaniel at the party. "How nice of you gentlemen to join us." He said as his hand rested on Gabriel's shoulder. He was sure the boy knew of the arrangements already. "Has your father spoken to you?" He asked as he took a sip of his champagne, looking at the people staring at them.

It also helped that Addison was easy on the eyes. It was still mostly a secret, he had been told, and besides them the kingdom was still blind to what was happening.

Caspian smirked, "Not yet. Though it's not like she is going to say no." He said, laughing. He glanced around looking for his daughter, "I have yet to see her tonight though." He said as he stepped away from the boys. "Excuse me." He said as he walked away from them and made his way through the crowd. He frowned Addison and smiled, "Sweetheart there you are. I have someone i want you to meet." He said as he took the champagne from her and led her towards Gabriel and his boys. Caspian looked at Gabriel once they made it to them. "Addison this is Gabriel." He introduced them. He stepped away then left them alone.

Addison looked at the men that they were approaching and realized that it was the wolves that everyone was freaking out about. It was odd that her dad was making her speak to them. Usually he told her to avoid them, "Hello." she said as she let the man in front of her take her hand. Addison had to admit that Gabriel was very attractive. She slowly let her hand leave his, feeling how warm his hand was. She was curious to why her dad had left them alone. Werewolves were so unpredictable and dangerous. Addison looked up at Gabriel, "Why are you here?" She asked.

Gabriel laughed along with Caspian at that. Even in normal marriages women didn't get that much say in them, much less powerful arranged ones. Once he disappeared into the crowd, Lucas and Nathaniel began talking at once, badgering him as to why he hadn't told them sooner.

Once Addison came, the boys straightened up and Gabriel found himself face to face with the human girl. "It's a pleasure to meet you," he said after a moment, his deep voice calm and alluring. He took her hand, kissing the back of it before he let it slip from his much larger one. "This is Lucas and Nathaniel Laurent, my closest friends." They each took one of her hands and kissed them before excusing themselves, disappearing into the crowd of people.

He looked after them for a moment before his eyes returned to her. "Your father invited us," he said smoothly, knowing it wasn't his place to tell her the truth and especially not in front of all these people. He looked down at her with his dark eyes, a slight smile on his face. "Care to go for a walk through the garden?"

Addison nodded when he mentioned her father had invited them. She found it odd that he had, but maybe he was trying to make things better. "Sure we can do that." She said. She got a glass of champagne then walked with him out to the patio. She walked down the stairs then made her way through the garden with him. She took a sip of her drink then looked over at him. Something seemed so familiar about him, but she wasn't sure who it was. Addison looked down at her glass then looked at him again, "I thought you guys hated coming to parties like this." She said suddenly. She found it so weird that everyone was getting along. She frowned when she heard someone walking behind them. She stopped and looked behind her, rolling her eyes when she saw it was one of the guys that was trying to get with her. "Just keep walking." She muttered to Gabriel before she started walking with him. She grabbed his arm and pulled him into one of the rows of flowers, disappearing from the path so they couldn't be seen. She let go of his arm then walked with him, "That guy is weird." She said as she took a sip of her drink.

He nodded, following her out to the patio, making sure that she didn't fall as they descending down the staircase.

There was silence between them for a moment and he took the opportunity to take in the breezy night before her voice cut through the silence.

"I don't hate these parties, but lycan ones are much more livelier," he corrected her before his ears perked up, hearing footsteps approaching. The scent of booze and aftershave following with it.

He let her take him into one of the rows of flowers, glancing over his shoulder to catch a glimpse of the man they were avoiding.

"One of the many suitors for the princess," he joked, looking at all the flowers around them before he picked one out, plucking it from the bush and gently placing it behind her ear.

"It matches your dress," he stated, his fingers skimming her cheek as he tweaked it, making it stand up right. His eyes met hers and he smiled crookedly, dropping his hand back to his side.

Addison smiled, "You have no idea." she said. She hated how everyone wanted to be with her and none of them actually cared about her. They just wanted to be part of the royal family. She smiled as he put the flower behind her ear, "Thanks." She said softly as his hand rested on her cheek. She was surprised at how nice he actually was. "So how exactly how are the lycan parties different than this?" She asked him. She was curious to know more about his life now that he had brought it up.

"Perhaps I do, more than you know." He thought of the lycan females who passed through every once in a while. As a prince, he was also expected to become betrothed one day and have his own alpha female. He even could take on a hybrid woman, one who carried the werewolf gene but wasn't an actual werewolf herself. He wondered how that would work now, preserving the werewolf gene between a werewolf and a human. She snapped him out of his thoughts and he smiled.

"Well, for starters, they're not nearly as stuffy," he chuckled, glancing up as he remembered the last time the kingdom was in celebration. "There's always a good vibe going around and it can get pretty wild sometimes." He thought of him and his friends, sitting around with a bottle of whiskey and howling into the night. It took a lot for a werewolf to get drunk but they might as well have been for the way that they acted.

"Maybe one day you'll see for yourself," he mused, thinking of how things would be rapidly changing soon.

Addison listened to him talk about his life and how happy it seemed to make him, "Maybe i will." She said as she held the now empty glass in her hand. She sat down on one of the benches then looked up at him. "Though i'm sure it would be more interesting than this place." She said. Addison looked over, frowning when she saw the guy from earlier.

Micheal walked out and glared when he saw Gabriel, "Addison are you seriously slumming it with this mutt?" He asked. He had been one of the soldiers that fought against the wolves and he didn't deny hunting them. "Might catch something if you get to close." He said, walking over to them.

Addison rolled her eyes as she stood up, "Micheal just go away." She said as she stood between the boys. She could feel the tension rising and see the anger in Gabriel's eyes.

Micheal laughed, "Or he could go back to where he belongs. Perhaps i should throw him a bone." He said, smirking.

Addison sighed at Micheal's remark, "Really? Dog jokes?" She asked. "Come on Gabriel. Let's leave the child to himself." Seh said as she took his hand and tried to pull him away. She felt him not move at first, so she tugged again. She stepped closer to him and placed her hand on his side, "Please just lets go." She said as she looked at up him. She knew Micheal we staring at him and trying to get him to fight with him.

"I promise you it would be," he chuckled, although it was short-lived when he heard someone approaching them. He knew it was the same man from before because of his smell. It was distinctly unappealing.

When he saw Michael up close, his eyes immediately hardened. He knew all about him, how he hunted his kind. He let out a low, threatening growl from deep in his chest, working hard to keep his anger under control. He didn't want to change here nor did he want to do something that he'd later regret. After all, with the treaty being signed tonight, he didn't want to jeopardize that.

Michael was just lucky that Lucas and Nathaniel weren't there. They didn't have the kind of restraint that he did. He looked down into Addison's pleading eyes before exhaling slightly, nodding his head. "Let's go. A true gentleman would know better than to drink himself in and offend a princess and her guest."

He glared at Michael over Addison's head, a threatening glow to his eyes. "Besides, in time he will regret this." When he looked down at Addison again he looked nothing but human and he took her hand, escorting her away from the drunk.

Addison walked with him, "Told you he was a jerk." She said as she walked into the ballroom with him again. She walked with him over to her father then got another glass of champagne. She frowned when she heard Micheal's voice again. "Dear god." She muttered.

Micheal stood on one of the balconys, "So when were you planning to tell the princess she was going to have to marry the dog?" He called. He heard a few gasps from a few people. "Oh boy now this is fun." He said. He glared down at Gabriel, "Kind of interesting that she gets stuck with the thing we hunt." He said, laughing.

Addison looked at her father, surprised that he hadn't told her yet. She looked at Gabriel, stepping back from him. She hated that she was being forced into a marriage. Even if it was with him.

Micheal looked at the wolves, "So Gabriel how long before you turn her into a meal seeing as wolves can't control themselves?" He asked. He looked at Addison, "Scared yet?" He yelled.

Addison saw Gabriel go to move and grabbed his arm to keep him from going after Micheal. "Lance, have Micheal removed from the castle." She said to the security guard near them. Addison heard him ask if she was sure, "Did i stuttered!" She snapped him. "He's upsetting my future husband." She said. Addison figured she might as well embrace having Gabriel instead of throwing a fit.
