anchor me back down.

  • Adalrik looked up from his new position in the sand where he had been breaking apart a coconut on a large rock. "Well, I found a coconut, and that boy over there," he said, jerking his shoulder in the direction of said boy as he resumed smashing the coconut into smaller pieces, "retrieved my bag from the plane. At least he's more expendable than I am," he said, shouting out as he got the last big chunk to break in half.

  • Malika sat in the sand next to him, "so you just gonna have a little helper monkey now?" She teased as she watched the boy. She looked out at the ocean and then laid back so her head was resting on her bag. Hopefully rescue would come soon and she could get home. "I certainly won't be flying ever again." She muttered.

  • Adalrik barked a laugh, tearing the flesh of the coconut from skin and passing her a chunk. "Most people take years to recover from traumatic events such as these, and some never face their fears. Though, I must say, the likelihood of another plane crashing with you in it is a near statistical impossibility," he said, his eyebrows draw together as he worked at a rather difficult piece of coconut that refused to come apart. "Though, you may have to face your's soon. The water is too shallow for many boats, so helicopters are a very likely thing in our future. And no, I'd just rather him than me, y'know?"

  • Malika looked at him as she took the piece of coconut from him, "That would be if they find us." She said as she took a bite of it. "This actually is really good." She said. She was surprised, but she knew eventually they would need to find something more to eat. "Should we just be hanging out on the beach like this though?" She asked as she sat up. She just got a bad feeling from sitting on the beach. "I appreciate you helping me." She said.

  • Adalrik looked the beach up and down, looking for anything that could possibly be a potential hazard to them in the next few hours as they waited. "Well, when the rescue team gets here, they're more than likely to go towards the giant plane crashed into the shore first, so our best bet would be to stay at least in the general area of it. Also, I've no idea what could possibly be in the woods, if there's any sort of predator or such, and I'm a little too shaken up to really go search at this very moment," he said, tongue sticking out of the side of his mouth as he attempted to get more coconut to separate from the skin before finally giving up and searching for the knife in his bag. "And of course it is, everyone likes coconut," he said, looking up from his task to grin at Malika.

  • Malika nodded, "So hanging out on the beach it is." She said with a smile. She finished her food then relaxed back on her bag. "I really hate that we are here. Of course people will notice if i don't get to france so it should be too long." She said, smiling to herself. Her father was very very protective of her and if he doesn't get a phone call from her he will send search teams. Malika had faith that he would.

  • Adalrik hummed, finally breaking the coconut loose, and he leaned back on one of his hand's in the sand and stretching his legs out in front of him. "Well, I'm sure none of the people are all that excited to be here. I know I'm not," he said, watching as one of the older men tried to take control of the panicked group standing too close to the still dangerous plane. "You know, if that was to blow anytime soon, they'd all be dead," Adalrik said, tilting his head to the side as he took another bite from his hunk of coconut.

  • Malika looked at him, "Well it seems that is is their problem." She said as she sat up again. She sighed as ran her fingers through her hair. "I dont understand why everyone thinks they should end up in a group. I feel like that would make things harder." She said as she laid back on her bag again. She wasn't a fan of working in groups.

  • Adalrik nodded, watching as a small sand crab scurried itself across the beach. "I'm kind of waiting for it in that, 'morbid, want-to-look-away-but-can't kind of sense. It was smoking, means there was a fire, and we had quite a bit more of the flight left, meaning there's fuel still in there," he said, looking over at Malika with a grin before grabbing for another hunk of coconut. "But, people don't like being alone. They'd rather stay in a group then venture off on their own."

  • Malika looked at him, "Yea so we can watch them begin to fight with each other about who's ideas are better." she said, laughing. She moved over to him and watched as he got the pieces of coconut out. Malika bit her bottom lip lightly as she ran her fingers through her hair. "How do you know how to do all this stuff?" SHe asked looking over at him with a smile.

  • "Well, I only like fresh coconut, so when I'm at home, I've gotta get one of these shitty things open. With enough coconut cracking experience under your belt, you learn that more likely than not, you'll have to improvise. So, coconut, meet rock," he said, grinning over at her as he popped another piece of coconut free from the rind. "And yeah, I'm hoping for a blood bath," he said, pointing the butt of his knife at the group of people who's voices were slowly escalating.

  • Malika nodded as she took on of the pieces of coconut. "Well at least you are prepared." She said, smiling. She watched him and put the pieces he broke out into a pile for him. Malika sighed as she looked around. She looked back at him and smiled. "I think we should build a fire or something." She suggested. She was sure it had to get alittle cold at night. She couldn't wait to get home.

  • Adalrik looked around him once more, seeing the shadows on the things around him stretched even further, meaning the sun was soon to go down. "Yeah, a fire would probably be a good idea. We need small but thick sticks, one's from the ground and that are dry, if at all possible. I'll find the kindling," he said, sticking a piece of coconut in his mouth before hauling himself back up, dusting the sand from his pants. "And keep your eyes open. There could be any number of creatures in the woods that may not be all that happy with your encroachment on their territory."

  • Malika nodded, "Alright i will watch what i'm doing." She said. She walked with him and picked up exactly what he had told her to. Once they got back to the beach she helped up get the fire start. Malika bit her bottom lip lightly as she watched the fire start. "Oh yay!" She said excitedly. She ran her fingers through her hair as she watched him get the fire going better.

  • Adalrik carefully stacked thicker sticks around the fire in between adding smaller one's to the blaze in the middle. He poked at the fire, attempting to disperse embers to light the large sticks quicker before he sat back in the sand, deciding to let the fire sort itself out. "Yay, fire," he said, watching as the flames finally caught everything alight. He looked over when he heard someone yell fire from behind him, and he couldn't help but scowl as the large group of other quickly converged around them.

  • Malik's shot the guy a glare that called out their fire. She looked at adalrik then looked at the fire. She sat beside him, pulling her knees to her chest and wrapping her arms around them. She looked over at him, "what happens if it rains?" She whispered. Malika knew that eventually they would have to build some shelter. She was glad that she had Adalrik to help take car of her.

  • Adalrik looked over the sky, the low sun illuminating it beautifully with small white clouds dotted along in various spots. "Well, if it rains, our fire goes out and we get soaked through, which could potentially cause hypothermia to set in and we'd all die," he told her, his eyes focused out over the ocean as the sun crept lower in the sky. "But, it doesn't look like rain, and no matter what, I don't really plan to die on this island. If need be, I'll figure something out."

  • Malika nodded, "Okay so if we end up being here longer than we expect to should we make a shelter?" She asked. MAlika had never been good with building things, but she knew that she would have to help him. She new they both had to pitch in if they were going to survive. Malika frowned as one of the guys scooted closer to her. She moved over to Adalrik and looked at her hands. Maybe the guy would leave her alone if he saw she had made friends with Adalrik.

  • "Well, if we want to have any amount of protection from the elements, we will have to," he said, throwing a few broken up sticks into the fire once more. He felt Malika brush against his side, and his eyebrows furrowed as he looked over at her. He saw the man who'd crept closer to them and he couldn't help rolling his eyes. "Dude, we've no need for the hot air you're breathing out this close to the fire, nor is she going to throw herself at you simply because we're stranded on an island. I don't know what, exactly, you're trying to achieve, but back the fuck away."
    August 5th, 2015 at 04:48am
  • Malika looked at him after the guy moved away, "Thanks." She said. She scooted away a little and ran her fingers through her hair. Malika looked at him, "So you never mentioned what you did for a living." She said. She watched him for a moment, seeing that it looked like it was something he didn't' want to talk about. "Never mind that's not my business and it's not like it matters right now." She said, swallowing hard. She bit her bottom lip lightly as seh watched the fire. Malika took her bag and laid in it the sand next to her. She laid down, resting her head on it as seh watched the fire.
