Evelyn had never in her life thought they’d get caught, but she’d never thought he’d throw her under the bus either. While she knew their relationship had to remain secret when it came to light about his affair he’d very clearly made himself out to be the victim. She had her knees to her chest as she watched the news, her eyes watering at the things being said about her. These people didn’t know her, yet they were passing judgement as if she were some gold digging whore –and that wasn’t even an over exaggeration, its actually what they were saying. Her mother drew the curtains closed to shield her from the reporters that stood outside screaming for her attention; for her to make a statement about the situation at hand but she didn’t know what to say. Besides, they had already made up their mind about her she knew there was absolutely nothing she could say to change their minds about that.
“You need to eat, your father has call for someone – maybe she can help you,” her mother spoke gently as she set the plate of food in front of her on the coffee table. “He was told she is the best of the best at what she does – and we know they’re wrong, what they’re saying is slander and just plain judgmental,”
“They don’t care about right or wrong, mom,” Evelyn said softly as she looked at her, “He is covering his ass, just like every other politician out there, make me look like a gold digging whore who had him wrapped around her pretty little finger so he can act like he hadn’t realized it till it was too late,”
“We’ll figure this out, we won’t let him ruin everything you’ve worked so hard for,” Karen told her gently rubbing her back, “Now, eat last thing I need is you getting thin you’re already sleep deprived at least get something in your stomach,”
“I called, she is on her way she’ll be here soon,” Travis, Evelyn’s dad, spoke as he stood in the door way. He couldn’t believe the audacity of these reporters, he’d caught them going through the trash like scavengers that morning and he had to chase them off – soaked a few of them with a water hose. He’d told them to stay off his property or he’d have all of them fired and charged with trespassing.
