It's been almost a year since I've adopted a vegan lifestyle, and it has changed my life and the view on the world as I knew it.

However, after going vegan, I began to look more into the vegan communities and I realized that a lot of people are strongly opposed to veganism. I always wondered why?

Tell me, what are you thoughts about veganism, and why would you, or why wouldn't you adapt a vegan diet.

I have been vegan a little over a year and love being vegan, a lot of health problems that I have had are pretty much gone along with not adding to animal suffering. I think that it's wonderful that you're vegan as well. :)

I personally will never go vegan. I couldn't even stand being vegetarian during the time I tried that. If I could ever afford/had the time to go organic/free range then I would do that.

However, I think at least part of the reason why people have a strong reaction to veganism is because a lot of the time when veganism is discussed, the vegans I've known never present it as just a personal dietary choice. It was always thrown in my face as if the vegan in particular I was talking to thought they were better than me or that I was some horrible person for eating meat.

I was a vegetarian for many (many!) years, and I've recently adopted a vegan diet. I did it mostly because my husband adopted a vegan diet about a year or so ago (after he'd been a vegetarian for many years), which meant I'd become mostly vegan anyway!

Overall, I would strongly recommend it. I'm not gonna say Bear and I are the picture of health or anything, but we both feel better generally. Also, if you're an ethical vegetarian (which is still fantastic! and go you!) then it makes more sense to become a vegan if you can because then you are even further reducing the harm that you indirectly do to animals and even further reducing the support that you give to factory farming.

With all that said, I can't stand when anyone tries to act like they are better than anyone else or is an ass to someone about their lifestyle or dietary choices. Being an asshole helps no one; it just alienates folks when we should strive to educate and connect instead.
