"Fuck!" James cursed under his breath, sitting down behind a tree as he heard the groaning behind him, his breathing heavy but he tried to keep it contained. His ankle was beginning to swell after having tripped and fallen on it running away from those flesh eating bastards. The group that had had just left had been over run and out numbered as they were sleeping, he was the only survivor. Besides him, his sister had been the last one of their family alive, at least until that big hoard came in and killed everyone in that small room. How he had managed to escape he had no idea, but it was killing him. Why him? He didn't give a shit what happened to him and he busted his ass to protect his little sister, but that was out of his control. By God he had tried, he had tried so hard to not let them make her their next meal. Now he was all alone in a world of flesh eating fucks, it was hard meeting a nice person in this shit hole now days. Letting out a surprised gasp as a zombie fell on to him, he acted quickly and plunged his knife into it's skull, making a face as the blade pushed into the head. "Keep getting distracted like that and you'll be next," he muttered to himself sarcastically, pushing the dead, decomposed body off of him and taking off as fast as he could on his bum ankle, hoping to find some shelter nearby.

"Bring it back boy!" Colton said to his dog, a small smile playing on his lips. Colton's dog, Buster, was his only best friend in a world like this. After the zombies killed his mom and dad, he bolted out of there with his dog, and now his only companion. It wasn't the same as having the company of people, but it was enough for him. Buster had been there for him since he was fifteen, he couldn't just leave him to be zombie food. Running a hand through his sweaty hair, he felt a wet nose nudge his other hand. "I suppose you want me to throw it again, huh?" He thought with a chuckle, reaching down to take the stick from his mouth when he heard a twig snap in the row of bushes behind where they were, Buster letting out a low growl. Raising a finger to his lips, he shushed his companion and drew the small pistol he carried around with him, using his pointer finger to silently command his dog to sit and be quiet. Was it a person or one of those decomposed freaks? "Who's out there?" He finally called out, keeping the gun trained towards the spot where he heard the noise.

[ hope this is okay! c; i kind of left off Colton's side of it to introduce your character if you'd like? if not, i can always fix it ]

Zachary didn't know how long he was scanning the woods for the shuffling noises that were around, sounding like an animal trapped. This was his proclaimed woods, having his own little hut he found when everything started going to shit. He had found it with the man who owned it already bitten and crawling weakly toward him. It didn't take him long to take the shotgun off the wall and blow the man's brains out. There was still dried blood on the carpet, but that wasn't important. He was getting slightly restless, though, finding it hard to sleep due to the creakiness of the old house. He packed up - bringing as much of the canned goods that his shitty backpack could hold along with gun ammunition - since he knew that this wasn't a good place to remain. He made sure that his lighter was in his pocket before he headed out, shotgun in his hand as he continued onward. It didn't take him long until he found himself hungry, but was far too aware of how with every step he was getting closer to the scuffle before he saw a boy digging a knife into the zombies skull. He didn't trust this, but knew that the other didn't notice him so far. When he boy pushed the zombie off of him, he came to be behind him, gun cocking as he pressed it into the back of his head. "One reason why I shouldn't shoot you for the noise you were making, you must have a death wish," he said, voice detached as he watched the other's body for any signs he was ready to bolt or attack. Now wasn't the time to attract the attention of the zombies, but if he was going to protect himself, he would need to eliminate anyone who could make his job harder for himself.
Adrian had no idea what he was doing. It was plain and simple. Everything he tried to do didn't turn out alright, which made him curse the fact that he spent more time playing idiotic computer games instead of actually going out and running. The only thing he could actually do is survive in the woods, glad that his father and mother actually insisted going out camping every few months for a couple of days. It had always been fun and he was surprised with how much he actually learned from it. He could easily start fires with just a bit of kindling and sticks as well building a small place to rest. That didn't, sadly, mean that he was an expert in running away or hunting or shooting in any way. His inability to shoot ended up with him running away from a herd of zombies who he thought he could attack with only one bullet left. He thought about throwing away the handgun, but decided it was pointless to actually do if he could find more bullets somewhere else. He was glad when he saw a clearing coming up, knowing that he could get a better look of where to go. Adrian ended up scrambling to get past all the bushes and leaves that crunched under his feet. He was panting as he heard someone call out into his general direction. He poked his head out as he waved his hands frantically. "Please don't shoot!" He called, feeling panicked while trying to get out of the woods that he ended up tripping as his entire front half landed out of the woods, gasping as the wind was knocked out of him. This was probably the worst week of his life.

James could feel the cool barrel of the gun press against the back of his hand, dropping the knife on the ground and raising his hands up slowly. Seriously? They were going to play this game in the middle of the woods? "If you're going to shoot me you might as well do it, it's not like I really have anything to lose." James had nothing on him worth taking really, making a couple of granola bars and a bottle of water that had half of it left in there. Then he had the bloody knife in his hand, but he didn't think that was really worth killing him over and taking it. Unless he was just killing people for sport, James had come across a few people like that back in his old group. "But if you're not going to shoot me can we maybe relocate? I've got a heard of zombies coming this way and I'd rather not be here when they get here," he said dryly, keeping his hands raised and his breathing even. Living in this world had prepared him for situations like this when he found himself defenseless, a gun against his head. This world was rotten now, it was hard to come across a nice person, having gotten lucky when that group took him and his sister in. Swallowing thickly at the thought of his poor sister meeting her doom, he really didn't have anything else to live for. If this man decided to pull the trigger, he might even be doing him a favor..

    --

Colton kept the gun raised and pointed at the individual who poked his head out of the woods, waving his hands like a mad man... and then falling on his face. A small snort escaped his lips, trying to keep the laughter inside. Now was not the time to be finding anything funny, he needed to be on alert. This idiot could have gathered the attention of any flesh eating bastard for miles. Walking over to him with the gun still aimed in his direction he reached down and grabbed the boy by his arm, dragging him up. "Come on, stand up you dumbass." He said with a shake of his head, poking him in the chest with the pistol. Colton hated to play the bad guy, and it really wasn't something he wanted to do, but he had to be cautious. People in this world weren't usually nice, and he'd nearly died from trusting someone too easily. So, letting his guard down was not an option, no matter how cute and innocent this boy really looked. "Are you by yourself, or are there others with you? I wouldn't suggest lying, either." He finally said, eyes flickering around before back at the boy, keeping their eyes locked.

Zachary scoffed, slightly in disbelief by the general defeat that the person held. He shook his head, lowering his rifle as he took a few steps back. "Not even worth the bullet. I trust you'll take care of it sooner or later," he said, his Southern accent thick and smooth as he snorted. People like this person in front of him were already weak enough, they would be picked off eventually. It didn't matter if he put them out of their misery or not, they were fully capable of it. He turn around, continuing on the trail he was already in as he tried to be on the constant lookout for any zombies that could be approaching. He didn't want to believe the kid's idea that there was a herd nearby, especially since it was the damned kids fault they were coming regardless. The noise wasn't a good idea, everyone had to be quick and quiet on their feet. It was common sense. He decided it was pointless to dwell on it as he took out his water canister, drinking greedily at the liquid. It wasn't his time to die and if that idiot wanted to die, then he should just allow the herd to approach him, get them off Zachary's trail. At least one of the had the will to continue onward without being consumed with the past. It didn't mean shit anymore. This wasn't a game, this was simply survival.
Adrian wasn't really expecting to be suddenly interrogated by the man who he was trying to warn. He obviously was safe, like anyone would honestly try to take him in and protect him. It wasn't that he was weak - well he was, but still - he was just not the exact candidate to be accepted when it came to survival of the fittest. He stood up obediently, slightly fearful of the gun that was pressed into his chest. "Don't call me that, you asshole," he spat, already feeling slightly annoyed with the person that he had met. He just wanted to find a nice clearing to decide where the next logical step was to running away. He kept his glare strong and pointed as he set his jaw. "I'm alone, don't you think they'd already be here and taking you down? It'd just be you against all of them, don't be a fucking dumbass," he said, not making a movement but still letting it now that he was slightly over all this and the man in front of him. "There are walkers coming, I suggest you run for cover before your dog becomes a snack," he said, motioning toward the canine in discussion. It wasn't the right place for dogs, he knew, and was slightly questioning just how smart this man was in front of him.
