Haden grinned and kissed Laney's cheek randomly. He then sat back and ate his food thinking how amazing Laney was. He watched her with his pack... their pack and it made him feel all soft and mushy. She belonged here and it was like she always had belonged here. Haden looked at his pack all chattering as they ate about little things like people do. He reached out and stroked Laney's soft hair because he could. It was the simple pleasures to him.
Avery laughed as Jake told her to go. "Stay go no yes. You're really opposite today." she said and kissed him then sat up. She dragged a shirt over her head and flipped her hair out then pulled on her shoes. "I'll be back soon." she promised him and kissed him sweetly again. "Then you can talk like I am sure you have been wanting to." she said and sighed. "Rest." she ordered as she stood and walked to the door looking back at him before closing the door behind her. Avery walked out to the group and smiled. "Morning." she said getting her food and sitting by her sister.

Laney smiled back at Haden, before she continued eating, and listening to Penny. Out in the brush they were quite unless they needed to communicate between them. Now the woman was a chatty Kathy. Smiling over at Penny she noticed her sister joining the ground. "Morning, sleep well?" She asked her sister, once she taken a seat beside them. She knew her sister was still upset about Jake killing someone for her, and now he was off to who knows where. She wanted her sister to feel better, even if she didn't have a man next to her.
Jake groaned as she left, he hadn't meant for her to leave. He was wanting her to stay, sighing he laid back. Looking up at the ceiling he wondered just how long he'd have to wait for her to come back. So resting there was exactly what he was going to do since she'd demanded him do so. Lifting his leg he looked at the cut that laid out along his leg. He nibbled on his lip looking at the size, it was smaller but still he wouldn't be fully healed for awhile.

Avery smiled at her sister. She kissed her cheek. "I woke up early this morning really missing Jake." she said telling the truth without explaining all of it. "Anyways I didn't go back to sleep." she said and shrugged. Avery got her food and sat down a moment with her sister. "How are you doing?" she asked softly. Avery loved her sister and wanted to be sure she was alright. Just because she wanted to hurry to see Jake didn't mean she should.
Haden looked at Avery and wondered why she didn't sleep. He knew what Laney didn't, that Jake was just hurt. It shouldn't have made it that hard to sleep. He made a mental note to go visit Jake later and be sure he was still doing alright.

Laney smiled at her sister, "I'm doing good." She said before reaching over and brushing her hair back out of her face. It was something she hadn't done in forever. "It'll get easier." She informed her, hoping her words held comfort. Having a man force themselves on you was a scary thing. Laney couldn't count the times she'd had men grab her and trying to force her into things. She'd been blessed to have her father around, but at the same time she quickly learned how to handle it. Killing someone was something completely different she just hoped Jake was okay. She felt a pull to him, even though he was always up Avery ass. She was glad her sister had him, it made her glad she had ended up switching groups.

Avery blushed softly at her sister's motherly display of affection. It had been a while since she had last felt it and non the less it made her heart swell with love and then guilt for lying to her sister even through omission. Avery nodded and leaned her head against her sister's shoulder a moment then finished her food and taking another bowel back to the cabin. "Lot's of work I'll see you later!" she said and smiled softly pausing. "I love you Laney." she said softly then hurried off. Avery got into the cabin and sighed trying to calm her rapid beating heart hoping Jake didn't notice the emotions in her that screamed at her how guilty she was for keeping Laney in the dark. Once Avery breathed through the worst of it she headed up the stairs. "I got you some food." she said smiling.
Haden chuckled at the way Avery ran off. "You know she's cute when you make her nervous." he said and shook his head. "You think she's alright?" he asked softly and stroked Laney's hair. He cared about Avery like a sister but it was his Laney who held his heart forever and he hated that she had to leave his arms sooner rather than later. He kissed her cheek softly as he finished his food.

Jake lazily opened his eyes as he heard her voice calling him. Smiling softly he forced himself up, sitting. Grabbing the bowl he smiled back at her. "You're perfect you know that?" He chuckled before eating the food she brought him. Looking back up at her he noticed she didn't have any food in her hands. "Already eat?" He asked hoping she had. His eyes taking in her demeanor, "you okay love?" He asked wondered what had her acting like she was nervous. He could read her body language and knew she wasn't being herself.
Laney shifted looking up at Haden, "she's always been a little bit shy." She chuckled, before placing a kiss on his lips. "She's just fine, once Jake's back she'll settle down." She informed him, know that the love her sister felt for Jake would help her heal better. Leaning into his chest she smiled, basking in the limited time she had with him. She knew that they would see each other tonight, but it was enough of a part that they'd feel the pull of missing each other.

Avery sighed relaxing as she saw Jake start to eat. She grinned as he called her perfect. Of course he would think that. Avery sighed as he asked if she was okay. Of course she wasn't. With all the shit that had happened she was still a mess even if her and Jake where working through it together. He wasn't the only man in the world and she couldn't be jumping at the figure and the touch of every other man in the world. Avery sat down and rested her head on his shoulder knowing that wasn't really what was bothering her and she closed her eyes eyes with a red and exasperated sigh. "I hate lying to Laney, even through omission. What if when she finds out she leaves or gets mad at me for not telling her sooner. And she thinks that I'm all tired and piney because you're away. I just feel sick about it all and there is nothing I can do about it because Haden is important to me too. He is our leader..." she shook her head not wanting to think of the wolf equivalent. Haden wasn't her alpha that was just to much but a leader was different to her. Avery shook her head. "And I'm not sure I want to talk about it either because if there is really no solution then it will just make me more upset." Avery admitted.
Haden grinned and kissed her softly. They finished breakfast and for just a little longer enjoyed each other. Haden held Laney there in his arms her back against his chest. He leaned his jaw on her shoulder looking at his pack doing what they normally did and glancing now and then at their alpha being a new mate to the human he was crazy about in his arms and nearly chuckling or smiling like weirdos but he didn't even car. It didn't bother him because he loved Laney.

Jake frowned hearing her thoughts, setting his almost empty bowl aside he pulled her into his arms. "I know Haden promised to tell her once I'm better. I'll address that with him right now if I have to." He inform her knowing this was an issue she wanted fixed. If he could ease her mind he'd do so. Moving his hand he brushed his hand across her check, cupping it before making her look at him. "I'll do what ever I have to do to make you happy, even if that means giving up my alone time with you." He told her, then leaned forward placing his lips to her. He didn't know if the kiss would be the last one for the day, or what would happen if they stayed in bed the rest of the day. He would do whatever she wanted. He just needed to hear her words.
Laney smiled back up at Haden, "do you plan to keep me here all day?" She questioned him, before placing a kiss to his cheek. "I don't mind, but you did say you had things you needed to do today." She reminded him, "I also have to check traps." She smiled, before pressing a kiss to his lips. "They can wait, but can yours'?" She questioned, wondering if they could head back into their house and cuddled a bit more. Though she knew it wouldn't stop there, so she doubted it was a smart idea.

Avery shook her head. "It's not something I want to deal with until you are better. Laney might run and if she does I might need to go after her and I don't want to leave you needing care and unable to do anything." she said and leaned her head into his head. "Thanks Jake it means a lot to me that you would talk to your alpha about it but I logically know it's the right move but emotionally I'm a mess. It will be okay." she said and smiled. He said he just wanted her happy and she nodded. "I know and I'm thankful for that but I am happy with you." she said and kissed him back. She sighed and pulled back. "Finish you're food doctors orders." she said and laid down beside him on the bed. She wasn't planning on going anywhere today.
Haden sighed and kissed her softly. "I just wanted a little longer." he said and let her up before standing himself. He chuckled. "I like being selfish with you." he said softly and pulled her into his arms and kissed her long and deep until the pack hooted and hollered and he broke apart chucking. "I'll see you later baby. I love you." he whispered and gave her a gentle wink. He stole a last kiss then headed over to Leo and talked to him about hunting later and then went to go check on Jake using the back way of course.

Jake scoffed at her words. "Baby I'm fine, really." He smiled at her, before picking his food up again. Making quick work of finishing it. "Besides I'd go if you did." He informed her. "I can't explain just how much you mean to me Avery." He set his bowl aside before turning to her, his hands moving to pull her to him. "I would literally tear myself apart just to follow you." Jake felt like a big sappy pansy. But he knew she needed to hear this. Wrapping his arms around her waist, he placed his head on top of hers. "We may not have fully mated, but I've chosen you and I'll leave this pack to follow you if I have to." He needed her to understand that though he cherished all his friends and their lives. She came first, she would always come first. He sighed knowing that their conversation would have to wait. "Haden is coming up."
Laney smiled up at Haden as soft blush consuming her face. "I love you too." She whispered out, chuckling softly when he pecked her lips again. She shook her head before going and grabbing her pack. She'd need some supplies to fix broken traps or reset them. She also loaded up with water. She waved to Char as she exited camp knowing that getting started now would mean plenty of time later with Haden. She chuckled softly to herself knowing that just thinking about their alone time later was already making her want to go right back into camp. But ignoring those thought she trudge on heading to her first trap.

Avery sighed. "Which is exactly why I don't want Haden telling Laney until you are well." she said and shook her head. "You are going to make me grey well before my time." she said and kissing him as he finished his food. She set his bowl down and cuddled up into him. "And I don't want to hear any of this it's fine when I sent an entire day with you in wolf form because it was to painful to shift which it still hurt you to do so when you unconsciously did so in your sleep just to get to me." she said and kissed him again. "That's right mister I know." she teased and relaxed. She listened to him swear his allegiance to her and she sighed. "I would never make you leave the pack if I could help it Jake, they are good to you." she said and cupped his cheek. "And just so you know..." she leaned up to press her cheek to his whispering in his ear. "I choose you too." Avery smiled and kissed him gently. She was just about to ask how mating really worked when Jake said Haden was on his way up and she blushed. "Oh okay." she said and stood opening the door for Haden just as he got to the door.
Haden's hand froze before a knock as Avery opened the door. "Oh uhh hey." he said and smiled seeing Jake back in human form. When Avery stepped back he walked in closing the door behind them. "Good to see you're feeling better." he said and noticed how Avery fluttered about him nervously and he chuckled. "Oh Jake you are about to find out what it is like having a healer as a mate." he said and chuckled making Avery blush. Haden cleared his throat. "Anyways I just came to see how you where doing today. Everyone will be glad to hear you will be back on your feet soon." he said and Avery shit him a look. "Not before tomorrow and maybe only if he is alright with walking, we're taking it slow." she said and shot a look to Jake that said he would listen to the doctor. He chuckled. "Can't be that bad being rolled up in bed with your lovely misses." he said and Avery smiled. Haden smiled and chuckled. "Alright then I will leave you two to it." he winked making Avery's face turn as bright as an apple. He chuckled patting his friends back. "Unless you need anything Jake." he said softly to be sure he couldn't help his friend.

Jake turned his smiled to Haden, his eyes had been preoccupied with Avery, watching as she turned different colors of red. He was enjoying the embarrassment Haden was instilling in his mate. "Nah man I think my girls got me covered." He smiled fondly over at Avery. She was definitely suffering from embarrassment, it almost made him feel bad for adding to it. But it was after all his job to annoy and embarrass her. Smiling over to his Alpha he chuckled softly, "I'll be on my feet before the nights out." He knew that with his healing advantages it would be a mere scratch by dinner time. Right now it was sitting at a flesh wound. "But Doc will more than likely keep me in bed." He smirked over at Avery, knowing his words could have more than one meaning. He knew her being a virgin and talking about sex was extremely embarrassing. Chuckling he watched as Haden left laughing. He shook his head before smirking over at Avery, hoping he wasn't about to face her wrath.
Laney sighed taking a seat on an old fallen tree. She'd already checked two traps, resetting them. While one held a rabbit the other seemed to have been set off by something larger and freed its self. The only thing that was bad about these smaller traps meant deer, boar and bear could spring the trap and free themselves. It seemed larger than a deer. But she didn't recognize the track, so it was something native to this part or just a false set trap. She didn't know what to make of it. Opening her canteen she took a swig from it, it was hotter out today then it had been in the last few week. Sighing she knew she'd have to check at least ten more traps before heading back to camp.

Avery smacked Jake's arm gently then laughed. "You go to cut that out." she said an kissed him. She waited a while till she figured Haden couldn't;t hear them anymore. "Now before Haden left I had a question. I know us sleeping together will result in us matting for life but what I'm wondering is what it does to me to make that so, are there changes I don't know about?" she asked guessing it was nearly as intense as being turned. She bit her lip knowing it changed a lot between them to sleep together and though it seemed like more of a possibility now that it did a few days ago she still had some consideration to do. Avery truly loved Jake and would love him until they where old. She would even consider letting him change her at some point but matting was a big step that he had to completely trust her on and she had to take as serious as marriage. That actually gave her an idea. "Jake... she said softly and hugged her knees. "I want a promise ring." she said and looked at him a moment then away thinking he would think it stupid.
Haden left laughing softly and shook his head. Young love was something else and the way Jake and Avery were together was so very innocent it was really something to behold. It was the kind of love movies had been made about where the kind of love he had Laney had was a great steamy sexy novel. He loved her like a big bonfire as Avery and Jake's love was a slow smoldering burn or the embers that lasted forever and would flare up from time to time then smolder. It was just as beautiful in it's way but not as dangerous as his and Laney's love.

Jake smiled at her, before wrapping his arm around her waist. "Is there changes in Laney?" He asked her. He couldn't answer his own question because he didn't know Laney enough to see them. "All I can tell you is that in wolves when we mate it's for life, we don't walk away ever, we'll protect each other with our lives." He told her things that he'd heard the others going through. "As far as humans I don't know. I've clearly never mated, but I've never meet someone that's mated with a human." He informed her. "I want to believe that even humans can feel the mating and never want to leave, but I can't tell you that how it is." He informed her. "All I can say is that when you mate it's like that other person becomes your other half, till you die. Not until they die there's no remating or any of that." He watched her wondering where her thoughts were taking her.
Laney grabbed her pack up thinking she'd taken a long enough sit down. Before starting her trek to the next trap, she knew they'd spaced them out well, but damn the time it took to get to them was a pain in the ass. The last time she had a bit of company. But this time Penny wasn't around. Moving to a rock side she put her foot into a small crevice before she started her climb to the top. It wasn't that hard to scale the side of cliff. She smiled once she reached the top turning to look out back over her home. She could make out some gaps here and there and see a few roof tops, but all in all it really didn't look like much. And you couldn't tell that someone was there, unless they had a fire going. "See you haven't lost your want to scout." His voice sent a chill down her back, turning she frowned glaring over the man standing before her. "Luke." She breathed out, softly. "What are you doing here?" She questioned wondering why he didn't take the hint and just leave them alone.

Avery frowned. She wouldn't know either, her and her sister hadn't really talked. "She seemed really close to Haden more than she is to me but that's all I can really tell." she said and wondered if it veered between those the connection was between because she and Jake had always had a strong connection that she didn't always understand since the time they met and that came up mostly in emotionally triggering situations. She took his hand. "Are you worried about making with a human?" she asked him. She knew some of the differences between wolves and humans now but the largest one was the that she as a human was so vulnerable to being attacked and killed. "Are you sure you want to even with all the risk?" She didn't finish that sentence but it was a huge risk with how easy it could be to loose her.
Haden felt all mopey as he thought about Laney and took care of the business he needed to see to dealing with his alpha responsibilities he couldn't do with Laney around. He knew that now Jake was awake the pressure to tell her grew. Tomorrow would be the day he needed to talk to her. He shuttered scared of her reaction. Any time they talked about wolves she was always black and anytime she talked about him it was always white which left him feeling like he was in a very grey area indeed. He would find out soon enough.

Jake sighed as she started asking questions again, he thought they were past that point. But with Avery there was always going to be new questions. Smiling softly he shook his head. "I don't care that you're human, I just want you." He informed her, "it might scare me that you may decide one day you don't love me, sure but those are what ifs." He looked at her, "I only care about here and now, and right now you're in no danger, you love me, and I don't see any reason to keep us apart." He pointed out the things that were certain to him. "I love you and if this isn't something you want then I'll except that." He frowned, "I won't like it but I'll except any thing you want." He smiled softly, even if it hurt him to think about her leaving him. "I know with you there's more than just mating, its the thought of having sex for the first time as well." He smiled hoping she'd actually voice her fears and maybe they could take a step closer to a decision. "I've shown you how good it can feel, but I know you're still scared, after what's happened to you I understand." He brushed his fingers across her face, "I'll wait for any decision, just don't feel like you have to keep this all bottled up, I'll do my best to listen and not judge." He informed her. He knew that right now Laney couldn't be the advisor she needed so he'd do his best to stand in that role.
"Aw you don't look to happy to see me." He said frowning, "and hear I thought that you liked me." He shook his head before smirking at her. "I came here for you Laney." Watching him she felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand. She knew there was a reason she didn't trust or like him. But she didn't think he'd be so stupid as to follow her. "And I don't plan on leaving with out you." He chuckled before lunging at her. Laney gasped before dodging his grab, her feet acting fast as she took off running. She'd been stupid and left the guns back at camp, so the only weapon she had was a knife. Moving fast through the trees, she kept to the path she knew one that circled back towards camp. Pulling out the knife she held it and dropped her bag so she could move quicker through the trees. She felt a sense of relief flood her when she could spot the edge of the town. If she could just get into the edge of town someone could scream and they'd know she needed help. The tearing of fabric of meet her ears before a shearing pain pierced her calve. Fumbling over her body hit the ground, the knife flying from her hands as the impact winded her. Curling into a ball she gasped trying to catch her breath, her eyes searching around her trying to find what could have possibly caused the pain to her leg. Her eyes landing on a large blurry mass of brown fur, before everything went black.

Avery smiled. "Thank you Jake." she said and cuddled into him. She knew she wanted to but the execution was what was scaring her. She bit her lip and wrapped her arms around him. "I have one last question for you then I won't ask anymore today okay?" she looked up at him then away as she rested her head on his chest. "What would you do if I said I was ready to be changed?" she asked him and bit her lip. "I guess I don't just mean do. I mean everything that comes along with that." she said. Avery wondered what he was thinking as she sat there waiting for him to take that all in. She knew eventually wanted that but would be be ready when she was? Would be doubt that she was really ready for such a decision? Avery knew this was a part of the decision because it would matter while they matted if he had such a strong urge to turn her if he could refrain or not.
Haden suddenly felt really panicky and he frowned. He walked into camp looking for the cause and the only thing he could think of was Laney. Penny. He called to her with his mind. Are you with Laney? He ran a hand through his hair the panic starting to swell until suddenly it was cut off. He bit his lip hoping Laney was alright. Maybe he was just over reacting. She was fine. It was probably just the way he let her go off by herself knowing Penny would meet up with her later. He knew he had to let her have her time alone too but he hadn't liked it always wanting to protect her and be with her but he couldn't have her around to do his wolf things. Haden waited for Penny to get back to him and the milliseconds dragged on causing his mind to spiral out of control with terrible scenarios.

Jake stared at her for a moment, before leaning in and letting his lips capture hers. "I'd love it if you were being serious." He informed her, it would mean she'd expected him all of him. Though he knew she'd come around a lot more in the past few days then he could ever imagine. "Though love I think it'd be best to wait, I know that the change isn't easy." He informed her. "It's not that I wouldn't want you to be come one of us, I just want you to be absolutely sure you want this." He eyes stared down at her trying to get her to understand that not matter what she chose he'd be happy with it as long as she chose to stay with him. "I just don't think it would be wise to do it now because of Laney, once she knows and is okay with everything and we can prepare for it then it would be okay to turn you." He told her. "I know its hard to be around humans right after the changes, besides I wouldn't want your sister to hate or resent you." He smiled at her. "But I love the way you are now, and wouldn't change you for the world." He smiled before placing a kiss to her lips. He didn't want to change her now he wanted to wait a while longer give her the chance to enjoy each other, even if she wasn't ready to mate with him.
Penny had just entered camp when she heard Haden's thoughts, smirking she didn't think anything of it just one new mate looking out for their mate. No I've still got about an hours worth more to do before I meet up with her. She smiled shaking her head, he was a love sick puppy and it was adorable. Laney was a good mate for him, she wasn't afraid to take lead and get things done. Going about her business she wondered if she was like Haden when she first mated.

Laney stirred her body shifting on the uncomfortable surface, her eyes sprung open when she remember Luke. Looking around she slowly sat up. Her Eyes taking in her surrounding, a frown appearing on her face. Her hands were bound together and a rope connected her to a tree, it was meant to keep her from running. Frowning she quickly started looking around for things she could use to free herself or something to defend herself. "Nice to see you're awake." His voice sent chills down her spine. Snapping her head up she looked at Luke, he smirked as he came strolling into the small camp, stark naked. Her body tensed knowing that he could only want one thing from her. "What to do want from me?" She questioned him anyways. "I told you Laney, I want you." He smirked seeing the horror on her face. She was the prefect girl for him, when she started to struggled to get lose he moved over to her and placed his hand on the rope. "Shh." He told her grabbing her hands roughly. "Quit or you're going to hurt yourself more." He told her before pointing down to the ghastly bite on her leg. He smirked at the look of reality set onto her face. She knew that he'd turned her into the one thing that she'd hated the most in life. "You.." She nearly sobbed out. Lurching forwards she wrapped her arms around his throat. Using the binds she started to choke him. She couldn't believe he'd bitten her. The one thought that ran through her head was who would love her now, not Avery and not Haden.

Avery smiled and nodded. "I like that answer." she said knowing that he accepted her as she was and though one day that would be something he would want right now he wanted what was best for her and he wanted to mate with her. She sighed and kissed him again. "Mmm. I love your lips." she said and blushed. She bit her lips knowing if she was going to wait to mate it would only be a matter of days. She was going to have him in her life one way or another for as long as she could. Avery bit her lip. "You never did tell me how you feel about getting me a promise ring." she said and poked his side. "Are you afraid of something so old school?" she asked him and grinned. Avery was the kind men would have married if it had been like it use to be. She was a good woman that cared and was smart and loving but secretly strong too. "So Haden was telling me something about not being able to get pregnant for a year after matting... is that true?" she asked him and chuckled remembering her sister stocking up on condoms. If that was right it was probably pretty useless. Would human condoms even keep wolf sperm? She shook her head knowing she was doing it again. "I'm sorry I just find wolf biology so interesting and I really wished there was a book on it." she said and chuckled. Avery ran her hand through Jace's hair enjoying the feel of it.
Haden frowned and shook his head. Perhaps he was being obsessive and it was nothing but he wasn't going to take that chance. Penny I have a bad feeling, please go check on her and report back to me I will take up your chores here. Haden said not wanting to wait for Penny but knowing if he went and it was nothing then it would also cause issues. She paced back and forth. And please hurry. Haden felt sick to his stomach. When he felt the panic come back he knew it wasn't just he being away from him it had to be real and yet he couldn't bring himself to go after her just yet. Haden ran his hand through his hair as he picked up what Penny had been doing while he waited.

Jake smirked out over her lips, after having pleased her last night he couldn't keep thoughts of it returning. It made it a bit harder for him to focus. "Isn't promise rings suppose to be something for waiting till marriage?" He questioned, furrowing his brow. "I don't mind getting you one, but I just don't agree with the logic of waiting till marriage." He nibbled on his lip knowing his words could make this go one of two ways. "I love you, and I." He moved to sit in front of her, his hands moving to take hers. "I know its compromising, and I'll do what ever makes you happy, I just want to know what it symbolizes and what it means for our relationship." He told her, he'd scour the earth to find one if it would make her happy. "And yes it's the perches of being a wolf, the mating process can be quite intense." He smiled at her. "Some wolves can't part from their mates for weeks at a time." He smirked at her, knowing that once the Mating takes place its just something they could get caught up on.
