Jake smiled as she gushed at the necklace, he was proud that he'd managed to get her something that came close to what she'd wanted. Though he wouldn't stop looking for a ring like she wanted. He was happy to oblige her and put it on her neck, placing a kiss to her shoulder before she turned and her lips attached to his. "I love you." He told her softly, but firm. He took a moment to just take her in, his eyes sweeping across her face as couldn't pick a place to focus on. She was the most stunning woman to him. He didn't know how he'd gotten so lucky, her as his mate. Smiling he wrapped his arms around her neck before pulling her head to his chest. Resting his cheek on the top of her head. A soft sigh leaving his lips as he relaxed and just enjoyed the moment of love they were sharing. He let out a soft chuckle as her stomach gave a growl. "You've not been eating enough." He scolded her playfully pulling back to peer down at her. "You can't skip out of meals or eat small portions anymore." He told her before grabbing her hand and pulling her back towards camp. Slinging his arm over her neck and pulling her into his side. "You're never going to be able to keep up with me if you don't take better care of your body." He teased her placing a kiss to her neck. Freezing he lifted his eyes, they blew wide as he noticed a rather large wolf standing in the middle of camp. He felt his heart in his throat as he quickly dropped his hold on Avery and moved to stand in front of her. "Don't move." He told her, his tone rather harsh but he knew she'd understand this wasn't any wolf he knew and she was to listen to him so he could protect her.
Laney buried her face in his fur as she did her best to calm down. She didn't dare to use her words knowing she'd break down. So all she could do was play back the dream for him, she knew it was only tearing into her heart again. But he'd always begged her to talk more with him. She finally let him in fully giving him the last bit of her misery, her mother's death. It wasn't something she wanted to ever have to dream about again. And she didn't know why it was all of a sudden coming to her mind. But she couldn't think anymore her mind going numb. She didn't know how long she sat there, him comforting her but she pulled back drying her eyes. "I'm going to go wash up." She told him, before pulling away from him. "Thank you." She told him before leaning down and pressing a kiss to his snout. She was glad he hadn't pried or tried to comfort her to much, he'd just been there letting her cry. It was what she'd needed. Grabbing her bathing bag she froze, something bitter filter in through the air. You feel that? She questioned him, knowing she wasn't in tune with the pack but she could sure tell something wasn't right. Stay here I'll be right back. She dropped the bag before heading down the stairs taking two at a time. Before she burst out the door. Coming to a halt as a wolf stood before her, it had it's eyes locked on Jake and Avery, it's teeth bared as a warning growl left it's lips.

Avery smiled and giggled as they walked back towards camp her love scolding her. "I am sorry my love I will try." she said and leaned into him. He placed a kiss to her neck making her shiver but then she felt him stiffen and she turned as he stepped in front of her. Avery gasped as she saw the wolf clinging to Jake's back. "Jake." she whispered worriedly. Avery bit her lip knowing if she ran the wolf would chase her and Jake would put himself in harms way not having enough time to shift and protect her. The wolf snarled and her heart ponded. The wolf took a step forward his eyes trained on Avery. She yelped as the wolf went to lung and Haden stepped in front of them. "Haden no!" she yelled and turned into Jake more fear pounding into her like never before. This was her family and she was useless to protect them.
Haden was going to rest when Laney was going to bathe. He laid down feeling unable to rest and wasn't sure why until Laney spoke. He looked up and his ears tuned into his pack hearing the disturbance. They couldn't find Kyle and everyone was out looking for him. When Laney told him to stay he couldn't listen to her. He stood and headed down the stairs carefully coming out right behind her. His eyes took in the wolf and his alpha instincts kicked in. He ran around Laney and in front of his pack and the strange wolf. Haden snarled making the other step back in surprise for a moment before a set of teeth sunk into his shoulder. Haden yelped and bit at the wolves leg. They tossed each other to the floor and Haden tried to ignore the pain in his side as he lunged for the neck of the wolf again getting in a good bite before the wolf tossed him off and then went to pounce and attack his torn underside that was bleeding again.

Once Haden stood before him, Jake reacted quickly. He backed himself and Avery up. He put enough space between them and their fighting before moving her towards Laney and Haden's house. He put her in the door way. "If by any chance he get by me close this door and hide." He knew it wouldn't do her much good, but he didn't plan on losing to this wolf. Though as he turned to take action Laney had just phased and took on the wolf, he could feel Avery grasping his shirt agian. She was afraid for her sister. And she didn't want her mate to leave her for a fight. He knew the feeling but he'd protect her with his life. But seeing Haden fall he quickly broke free of her and rushed to his alpha. He put pressure on the wound knowing that Laney was handling this. He couldn't be prouder knowing she'd finally taken to her wolf. Even if it was a bit too late.
Laney was frozen to her spot she'd never been taught to fight, and even though her sister was in trouble she couldn't seem to move. A gasp leaving her lips as Haden emerged his wolf form taking charge. She could feel the power radiating off the two. This was a battle between alphas. And she cowards in fear, her body shaking as she watched the wolf lung at her mate. Though the moment a whine left Haden's mouth she could control herself. Bursting forwards she stumbled as her paws hit the ground, but the moments she had her footing she took off. The wolf had taken advantage of Haden's injury. And the smell of his blood sent her into a frenzy. She slammed her body into the larger male. Before her body moved in front of Haden, she sank low almost like she was cowering but her teeth were bared and a snarl left her lips. The wolf took a step almost like it was stepping back, and she lunged aiming for the neck. She wasn't playing. He'd hurt her mate and she aimed to kill. She felt her teeth sink into fur, barely grazing skin. He'd moved before she could land the blow. But that didn't stop her from coming back and latching onto his shoulder shaking her head furiously. The wolf letting out a yelp before it broke free. It stumbled back before collapsing. Her teeth bared as she slowly approached it. Growling lowly, she wasn't going to let it leave alive. Though a familiar popping sound enter her ears as she watched it phase into a man. It was almost like all the straighten left her body. Her eyes welling with tears as she stared down at the man before her. His shoulder was bleeding but his hands were raise as he surrendered. "Laney please." He said hoping to reason with his daughter.

Avery's shook her head tears starting to spring into her eyes. "No." she choked out and clung to Jake's back. She wasn't about to let go of him. She couldn't stand to loose him. Avery stayed where she was as Jake ran for Haden protecting and helping his alpha as Laney shifted and attacked the other wolf. Avery watched as suddenly the other wolf shifted before her and her father stood there. Avery gasped and started to shake. She turned and shook her head. She needed to focus on Haden right now. Avery ran to where she had dropped her kit picking it up and running past her father and the other wolves that had started to show up to Haden. She knelt in front of Jake and looked up at him. "I need to see." she said waiting until he took his hands off seeing it had just been a few stitches. It needed to be cleaned but it wouldn't be to bad just a little longer healing. "We need to get him inside so I can clean and such him up." she said and nodded to Jake following him into the house as he carried Haden inside. She would leave her sister to deal with the rest of this. Haden would be fine if she could focus.
Haden whimpered watching his mate wanting to move to her but the hands held him down. He looked up at Laney above him and pleaded not to be moved wanting to go to Laney but soon was moved onto his own kitchen table. He whimpered. Avery ran her hand gently over his snout and then washed up before moving to his side stitching him up. Once she had yet again bandaged him up and Jake had moved him to his bed she sat with him as Jake went to help the pack.

Avery sat stroking his ear and looking out towards the window. "Thank you Haden. Jake is safe because of you." she said softly and placed a kiss to his snout. Haden liked her hand. "Are you in pain?" she asked him and he shook his head. Avery nodded and then sighed. Jake had made it obvious he wanted her to stay here until he figured out if it was safe. She could tell without him saying anything but she couldn't do that. She had to go and see if the man was really her father and what was going on. "Haden you have to stay here." she said and Haden whimpered. "I know but if you are with Laney now she won't be able to focus she will be worrying about you." she said and Haden nodded softly. Avery nodded and stood stepping out of the house following her instincts to Jake's side grabbing his arm as she stood beside him looking untrustingly at the man who was now clothed sitting and talking with Laney. She watched as her father's pack sat behind him like their pack sat behind Avery with Jake. Kyle was licking at his paw. She would have to take a look at that later.

Jake was surprised to see Avery next to him, "what are you doing?" He questioned her, not realizing the fight had stopped. He was taken back when she demanded to move Haden. He nodded and complied picking his alpha up. He carried him into the house his ears tuning into what was going on outside. He was very much on edge. Leaving Laney alone had not been his want but she was a lone wolf and his ties were to his alpha and not her. It pained him to think that was but she'd have wanted him to help her mate. Once Avery had managed to patch him up he carried him up stairs. He nodded to Haden before he darted out the room, grabbing on of Haden's shirts on the way out. He managed to stumble out the door, finding Laney still in her wolf form but her head turned away from the naked man before her. He moved over to her before handing her Haden's shirt. "He's going to be fine." He told her before standing to look at the man before him. As she darted off to go phase. It wasn't something that bothered most wolves. But she was getting use to it. He glared the man down not knowing why he'd tried to attack them. But he'd seem to know Laney. His eyes shifted to the wolves emerging out of the forest. One seemed to be limping while the others were on edge, he could tell they weren't looking for a fight but they were sure going to give them one if it came down to it. Laney appeared next to his side as holding out a pair of man's pants her head turned away from the man's nakedness. "Thank you." He told her taking it from her with a slight chuckle. "I guess this isn't something your used to." He smiled at her pulling them on. Jake was confused as to why Laney was allowing this man to stand before her. "Laney?" He questioned her, warning in his tone. He knew this wasn't what was best for the pack. But the look she gave him silenced him, he could only stare this man down wanting to rip his throat out.
"Why?" Her voice was soft, and she could feel herself starting to break. The man's features changed from defensive to soft he couldn't hide his love for her. "I can explain it all, if you just give me time." He said to her softly he opened his arms wanting a hug, but you could tell he was timid and didn't want to scare her off. "I want to know why you attacked my pack." She said firmly, even though she'd never taken Haden as her alpha it was her family he was attacking. And she could tell that Kyle was hurt. It was something else he would blame her for. "As I said pumpkin I can explain it all." He smiled softly, before motioning for them to take a seat. He sat before she did, but she moved none the less. Sitting down she stared him down waiting for him to speak.

"It was honestly just father instincts kicking in." He chuckled rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. "I saw that boy with his hands on my angel and I just snapped, as for the other wolf he just got in my way." He chuckled if off as if it was nothing, but his eyes noticed the way Laney's fist clinched. "My mate." She growled out threw grit teeth, watching as the man's eyes widen in surprise. "Oh shit well tell the son in law I'm sorry, but that ass kicken was for taken my little girls heart way." He smiled at her noticing he wasn't getting much from her. He could tell from the look in her eyes she was fighting with herself, she had some many questions and only he could give her the answers. But before they could say anything else his head snapped over to Avery as she stood next to Jake. "Well look at how beautiful my little girl has gotten." He stood and moved towards Avery, a smile on his lips. He knew he'd made a mistake on trying to attack but it was what father's did they protected their little ones. He stood before her he was about as nervous as she was. But he wanted nothing more than to have his girls back in his life.

Avery pushed closer to Jake as her father approached her and she watched him warily. "Hello." she said and looked at Jake then back at her father. She didn't know what else to say. Before the wolves attacked she remembered a strong man that took care of her and her sister. She remembered how loving and kind he had been. He had been her hero. Then after the wolves attacked she remembered a man that hardly spoke to her and went away with Laney all the time leaving her alone. He didn't even notice her when he was home with them both. Avery had felt abandoned by him and tried to get his attention but never had been able to. Her sister had scolded her, her sister had looked after her and taught her. Avery looked back at Jake. "Father this is Jake my mate." she said and blushed. It was still something she was still use to saying. Being human and having a mate was not normal. The pack behind her father looked at each other then back at them. Avery bit her lip knowing that Jake was the best man she had ever known. She was the human in the pack of wolves and everyone knew it. Her mere presence showed she was human to everyone and no matter how she tried. "Now if you will excise me I need to talk with Laney." she said and walked over to her sitting next to her sister. "He is fine, just a few more days of healing. I think a week and he will be able to shift." she said and then hugged her standing and going over to Kyle kneeing before him. "Let me take a look." she whispered. Avery helped Kyle looking at his paw. She fixed the puncture wounds from the teeth and put a temporary brace on the paw. "I want you to stay off it for three days." She said. Avery didn't know how shifting was going to work so suggested against it rubbed his shoulder. She placed her hand on Char's head a moment then looked back at the group heading back home to her and Jake's house. She walked into the house and looked around before heading to their room and crawling into they bed and curling up. she didn't know what to think.

Laney watched as her father walked away, she was still dealing with her surprise. Nibbling on her lip she looked at her sister as she can over. Her sisters words sent a pain to her chest as she mentioned Haden's condition. She'd not even thought of him other than defending him earlier. Tucking her head she sighed as her sister left them to go into her home. This wasn't something she wanted to deal with right now. Her mind couldn't focus on anything. But the fact he was a live. She sat there for a bit before her father chuckled. Lifting her head she wondered what he could be laughing at. Shaking his head he sat back down in front of her. "I knew this would be hard for the two of you." He told her, knowing he'd expected to much from them right off the bat. But he was still hopeful. "What do you expect we thought you were dead." She told him, the hurt in her voice thick. Shaking her head, she stopped him from speaking further. "Look I don't care what you expect, but right now my mate needs me." She told him, glaring him down. "This is all just a bit too much for us." She told him knowing that they weren't going any where so he could come back at a later time on a more friendly term. "Why don't we take a few days and let thing cool down." She told him. She couldn't believe any of this and her mind was to full. He nodded before standing. "Alright I'll come back then, tell Avery I love her and I'll be back." He nodded knowing he would have to be patient. "You too kido." He smiled, he'd hoped for more that what he'd gotten but he'd just have to return and fix things slowly.

Once the other pack left the camp Laney felt a wave of relief flood the camp. Turning to Jake, "go check on your mate." She told him feeling the angst wafting off of him. Once he was taken care of she moved to the other pack members, they were still in wolf form. She stopped in front of him. "Give the perimeter a rest." She told them knowing the other pack was out there they'd only be chasing their tails and she didn't want them dealing with them right now. "You should get off that paw, and rest up." She told Kyle knowing that once he was in human form they'd have to have a talk. "I don't care what jobs you guys take on but lets keep close to camp." She was being cautious knowing that she didn't know the wolves with her father and didn't trust anyone. Turning she headed into her home, after closing the door she rested into it. She just needed a moment. Not sure what she was suppose to think. After pulling herself together she headed up stairs to Haden.
Jake stood there he felt the need to protect Avery from the man before him. But the moment he called her his little girl her felt the fight leave him. The man standing before him was her father. He looked down at Avery noticing her indifference in her, but still felt pride that she'd introduced him as her mate. Though the look on her father's face didn't go unnoticed. He watched as she walked away, furrowing his brow he wondered what was going on in her head. He knew that this was a shock but it was her father after all. Not saying anything he stood there wondering what was going to happen next. Hearing the door to his house close he wanted to follow after her but he knew he couldn't when a threat was still possible. They were two fighters down. He felt everyone around him relax looking back he noticed the other pack was retreating. A sigh left his lips when Laney gave him the go a head to check on Avery. Nodding he didn't stand around, he headed straight inside and up stairs to their room. A soft smile formed on his as he noticed her curled up on the bed. Sliding in behind her he wrapped his arms around her waist before placing a kiss behind her ear. "Hey love." He whispered out, not bothering to ask her any questions, he knew if she wanted to talk she would.

Haden looked u as Laney came in. He whimpered with his worry for her. Today was huge in her development as being a wolf and for her personally he couldn't even begin to understand. Avery had explained before she left who that man was and that they where not in harms way. It had soothed him to know but worried him as well. He wanted to be beside his mate supporting her. Haden crawled over to Laney as she sat down and laid his head in her lap licking her hand. 'I wish I could hold you.' Haden spoke to her mind feeling that any questions would be to much though he had thousands and wanted to talk about her transformation. It had not been her first since she was changed but he kind of already knew that in a way. No one took all day to chop wood. He hadn't been sure what she was doing but now he knew and it made sense for Laney to want to do it herself. He wished she trusted him to do it with her. To be there and not judge her or the limits she wanted to set. He knew he had really messed up in the beginning but he hoped she would come to trust him that he understood now. Haden was bring to keep his mind quiet for her but his emotions spoke loud. He was proud mostly but also worried about her and as always loved her. Every moment he saw her he was excited to see her.
Avery was anything but indifferent. She was a ball of emotions and nerves. She had to focus on doing her job otherwise she would break and when she was alone and the numbness had worn off she had broken. She went silent feeling Jake near but the moment he placed his arms around her she couldn't choke back the sobs anymore. Avery turned into him her tears instantly wetting his shirt as she clung to him. He was alive and he left them to fend for themselves. He had let Laney have to take on all that weight and get hurt and pull away from her. He had not been a father to her and not to Laney either. Avery was bitter and hurt and she wanted to love him still like when she was a small child and he had loved her like a father loves their little girl. Avery was shaking in Jake's arms as she clung to him until the tears cleared up. How was she going to explain all this to him? Avery wished there was a way he could just know it all. She had never really told him how her relationship with her father had gone. "Jake." she whimpered. He was her heart and the only reason she was able to keep it together. "I want you to know everything but it... it hurts." she choked the last words out and looked up at him.

Laney looked down at the fur ball in her lap, offering him a small smile. She'd been a horrible mate, but at the same time the family ties to her father were strong and the want to be with him had been more than the want to be with her mate. And it really made her wander if it was true about wolves mating for life. If someone held more importance to the person they'd mated to them could it be possible to mate again? She had so many new questions, most of which pertained to her father. "It's okay," she told him softly. "You need to focus on healing and not me." She told him, knowing that even though the others were off running perimeter didn't mean they would want help or a break or rest, something. Sighing she knew the weight Haden felt now. Her mind was doing its best to distract her with unimportant things. Instead of focusing on her father's return. Blinking slightly she sighed, before laying back on the bed. She knew that she'd have to talk to Haden about her wolf now. And he'd want her to join his pack. She didn't know what she wanted any more, it was a tug a war in her mind. And though she thought she loved Haden, she wasn't sure if it wasn't just the mating. And at times like this she was glad he had no access to her mind. She'd done her best to block out the bond they share as she didn't want any of her thoughts trailing into his mind. He had his healing he needed to worry about, not her way ward thoughts. Closing her eyes she rested her hand on her face as she tried her best to come up with something, anything. But it was no use her thoughts couldn't be calmed.
Jake frowned at the sound of her sobs, he thought she'd be happy to know he was alive. But Avery had never really talked about her dad. So he could only assume what she was feeling was part of her past. And it made him worried about just what had happened with the man to make her so upset he was a live. "I'm so sorry baby." He told her after hearing her broken claim. Rubbing her back gentle he rested his head on top of hers, cuddling into her more. "I don't care to know any of it, if it's hurting you this bad." He didn't want to put her though this pain having to tell him anything. He knew his mind was getting the best of him as he thought of her being sexually abused, but he had to remember he'd taken her first, so it wasn't anything physical that had happened. So he knew his kind beautiful mate was suffering from her mental abuse. Though what ever it was he didn't want to make her relive it. Even if he had to be in the dark about it.

Haden hated how she still kept him out. He huffed and lay there silently for a long time. It's okay Laney you don't have to talk. I know you have a lot to think about and you're not really one for thinking with someone so you just let me know when you feel ready and what ever you need I am here for you. Haden spoke to her and hoped that was enough and what she needed right now. He wished that there was something easier for him to do other than just wait feeling her mind and emotions spinning but not able to share them. Haden lay there dozing on and off in her silence. Haden was having a hard time doing anything because of his worry but he was trying not to let it show.
Avery cried for a while until she dozed off his his arms. When she woke again she was numb and yet comfortable in Jake's arms. It was then that she felt she had to courage to tell him. Avery turned to him and looked up in his big caring brown eyes. She sighed. "Thank you for staying with me." she said knowing she was taking him away from his pack but she had needed him on a level no one else could have provided. "I have to tell you what happened. I need you to understand that the man that came back into camp today is not my dad but the man that died with my mother." Avery curled into Jake resting her head on his chest before she spoke. "My mother died very close to the wolves taking over. And as much as I could blame the wolves for taking over it was my mother's death that made my father change. Before it all he was kind and loving and fun. He was the father that every little girl deserves. He protected me and cherished me. I was his baby and he adored me but when my mother died he became reserved and dismissive. My sister started to take care of me. I was so young Jake." she shook her head. "So was Laney. But it was when the wolves attacked that he completely started to ignore me. He never spoke to me. It was Laney that took care of me, that punished me, that ordered me about. She became everything to me while he only spent his time with her. He trained her and spent time with her leaving me home alone to do whatever task Laney had given me for the day while they went out to hunt and scavenge. It was when I had revealed our position to the wolves on accident and we had to run for our lives that he finally spoke to me. It was the first time since the wolves took over and the last before we thought he died. He yelled at me until I was sobbing then left in frustration. I was a child that was loosing everything and wondering what I did to push my father away. I was to young to have to figure that out Jake. So if you worry he hurt me... he didn't. He didn't have to he simply didn't have to be there for me at all." Avery pressed her head into his chest. He probably thought she was foolish for being so upset over all this. "But you see I am not upset over what he did to me. It was that he left us alone to think he was dead and what Laney had to go through just to take care of us both. That is what breaks me. He let us believe he was dead... why?"

Jake held her tight as she slept, he felt himself dosing off a few times though he snap to when she'd whimpered or move in her sleep. This was weighing on her heavily and there wasn't anything he could do other than just be here and hold her. Feeling her stir again he frowned hoping she wasn't facing a horrible dream, but when she rolled over and meet his gaze he smiled softly. "You don't have to thank me, it's what I wanted to do." He knew that he couldn't explain it to her, but his love for her was greater than his want to be with his pack. He knew they needed him now, but her couldn't be bothered to leave his mate. She was his main priority. Smiling as she cuddled into him he knew he shouldn't find joy in this moment, but knowing she clung to him instead of pushing him away made his heart soar. Jake listened to her, at first he was confused as what she meant when she'd said the man wasn't her dad. He'd never had a good relationship with his dad, so he'd never understand what she was going through. But he could understand the meaning behind it, just not why she felt that way when the way Laney talk he was a great man. Of course he'd gotten all that from Haden. But he'd remained quite as she continued to talk and help him understand. Avery never had talked about her family other than Laney. And when she did it was small snippets, but he knew her love for her family. It was a shock to him to hear all her struggles and the way she felt abandoned. His arms wrapped tighter around her and he pulled her close, feeling the need to be what ever she needed, and right now all he could do was cuddle her. When she questioned why he father let her believe he was dead he didn't have an answer, just a few thoughts. "I can't even begin to answer what he thought." He told her, letting his hand lazily rub her back. "But if he was turned into a wolf then it's safe to say he could have ended up not been able transform back. Most wolves can't control themselves once they first transform." He was only just speculating, after all he didn't know what her father had been thinking. "But if he'd done his best to keep you from the wolves would you really want him to come back as one, knowing what they bring." He wondered. He knew that all he was doing was causing more confusion and questions. "But really that's something you'd have to ask him about." He told her, "though he didn't seem to keen on answering any questions earlier so maybe when he comes back you could talk, but you don't have to do anything you don't want to." He knew pushing her could end up backfiring on him. And it was only beneficial if she was ready for it.

Avery had meant it as more rhetorical but Jake answered it anyways and it gave her more to think about. She nodded glad he would support her even if she didn't talk with her father and try to understand him. She had never before been so supported by someone that she could be completely herself and yet still truly deeply loved. Avery cupped his cheek kissing him softly her lips just barely brushing his. She looked into his eyes and rested her forehead on his. "Thank you Jake, I son't know if you know ow much I love you and feel truly special with you." she said and then touched the ring hanging around her neck. Jake was amazing and she needed to show him that. "I'm going to be okay Jake. I will hurt for a little but I know you are here for me and there isn't anything else I could ask for." she said and brushed her lips to him before resting her head on his chest listening to his heartbeat. "I know we haven't really talked about it before... but if you where to change me... What would change for us? I know for Laney and Haden their minds grew closer. I can tell with the way that they look so mindfully at each other." she said and chuckled. "What would it be like to be mated at wolves?" she asked and blushed. Avery didn't think she was ready yet but she did want to know because she knew she would eventually want nothing more than to be his wolf mate. Avery was sure that it would be sooner than she believed. Now that her father had almost tried to kill her mate because he thought that her humanity was at risk it seemed more relevant than ever to talk about. "Why is it so taboo for a wolf to be mated to a human?" she asked him curiously.

Jake felt her lips graze his, letting out a barely audible noise in protest. He offered her a soft smile when her forehead met his. He understood her feelings, just like they were his own. Shaking his head softly after she teased him again with a peck. Though his arms tighten around her waist as she laid on his chest. He knew that responding to her would only lead to distracting her. And right now all he wanted was to be there for her. Plus she was trying to wrap her head around everything. And her hunger for knowledge always had her rambling. It was something he was getting used to. Chuckling lightly he ran his hand up her back. ''I don't think it's taboo." He told her honestly. "But most wolves give into their primal instincts, so when a wolf mates they immediately change their mate." He wasn't sure why, his wolf had wanted to do it too. Though it was easier than he thought fighting off the urge. "It's said to be the best feeling in the world. Some don't even remember the transformation." He knew he was getting a bit off topic. But he knew her she'd want to know. "But as far as us, I can only imagine." He shook his head softly having a few ideas enter his mind, but there was no telling. She was already invading his dreams, so he could only assume they'd be better connected then any of the others. "But Laney and Haden would be closer if she joined the pack. Now they are forcing things, once on same grounds they'd be more into mating and being in wolf form." Jake didn't like talking to much about the other's. Because he didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. He could say these things easily, but he knew everyone had their own issues and problems. Also he wasn't judging he was just using them as an example.

Avery nodded listening to him. "What do you imagine?" she asked him curiously. She loved to just lay with him and listen to him talk. She knew she would join Jake wherever he was and whatever he wanted as a wolf. Haden was a good alpha and this pack was probably as good as she could get. They where good wolves each of them. What else could you ask for. All they asked for in return was to support one another. Avery didn't understand her sister's choice but she wouldn't judge. She had been through so much Avery couldn't imagine. She felt bad for her sister now, she had to be so confused but Avery couldn't help her. She had never been able to. Her sister was so far removed it was a wonder Haden had stolen her heart at all. Avery was glad that Jake gave her the option to stay human as long as she liked. She knew he would protect her always. She sighed thinking about what would change as a wolf for her. She still couldn't understand why she was so worried about being changed. Maybe it was how fast things would change. Avery had never liked change that she couldn't direct and that impacted so many people. "You never ask me about changing Jake... is it just cause you feel like it would be pressuring me?" she asked him.

Jake smirked at her, before shaking his head. "Use your own imagination." He teased her, before placing a kiss on top of her head. Feeling her slipping into a sense of ease. He was thankful that she wasn't letting this effect her. Sure it was still weighing on her mind but she wasn't sobbing any more. Also she was curious as ever so he could feel his want to fix thing slip away. They'd need time for things to fully settle but his playful side was pulled out when she started asking questions again. All he wanted was for her to smile, and feel his love. Sure this might be the time to be serious but he knew that even in times of stoic times someone was cracking jokes to help heal hearts. As a mate he felt the need to always be what she wanted and needed. Smiling softly down at her his hand slowly slid along her back. "I think with everything that's been going on around us, we need time to relax and dwell on what's best for us." He told her, "and no I don't feel like I would be pressuring you." He shook his head. "But since it was your first time I didn't want to change you, plus rushing into changing you could have seriously hurt us." He shuddered at the thought of him changing her the night they'd first had sex. What if she'd not changed back in time to help Haden. "It takes time to grasp everything once you've changed, not everyone can shift back the same day they are changed." He thought about it and wondered if Laney's will or hatred of wolves was what changed her back. Shacking his head the thoughts wasn't helping him any. "Beside as long as you've decided to changed before we conceive pups then I think we've still got time to discuss this." He knew that after a year of mating their chances of pups increased. He didn't want to chance her getting pregnant as a human. He'd never heard what happened to a human impregnated by a wolf.

Avery nodded and smiled. "I get that." she said and arched to the feel of his hand on her back. She ran her hand up his chest and kissed his jaw. "Still I know we are newly mated but you haven't said anything about it. I was just curious why. But it has been crazy in the pack it seems like it's always one thing after another." she said and frowned. Now her father was here and she knew now was not the time to change. Not to mention she didn't want her father to try and start a war with her pack because of it. Avery laid her head on Jake's chest. Jake was her heart and she loved him so much. Avery cuddled into him feeling his unused energy. He either needed to go out for a run or they would be wrestling here in a moment. She grinned thinking it wouldn't be so bad but knew where that would end. Again not that she had a problem with where they would end up. Avery chuckled. "What? You're buzzing. What are you thinking?" she asked him looking up at him.

Jake couldn't help but smile as she picked up on his change of mood. He felt like he was going out of his mind. The other wolves having attacked them him had his adrenaline soaring. "Well I'm still a young wolf at heart, so when the chance to fight occurs I'm anxious to join." He tried his best to put his feeling into words. "So when your dad attacked I wanted to fight, and I still do." He shook his head. "And when we were out in the woods early, why didn't he attack then." He shook his head, knowing now he was letting his thoughts cloud his mind. He was anxious and protecting his mate was all he wanted to do, though knowing she was safe he could feel all that angst pour over into other aspects. Pulling his playful side out, though he knew where his wolf was leading him. It wasn't the fight it was looking for but being wrapped up in sheets was the next best thing. Even though it was the mating pull he knew his wolf would only except it now.

Avery smiled softly and nodded beginning to understand glad he was sharing. "Well maybe he hadn't seen us earlier. Perhaps he had just walked up to see your lips on me and reacted without thinking. If you saw your family in what you thought of as danger wouldn't you do the same?" she asked and stretched out before sitting up so she was straddling his lap and looking down at him. "Don't think to hard about him and what he did or didn't see or whatever. It's not that important and I am sure at one point or another he is going to try and use you to get to me. He is a smart man and you are the closest person to me." she said and ran her hand up his stomach. "Let's get some water before you loose your mind." she said and pushed off of him heading to the pack just beside the door pulling out the water bottle and drinking from it before offering it to him. Avery chuckled as she looked at him. His need was rolling off him in waves now and she loved to see his desire for her.

Jake listened to her and was about to protest, but when she said not to think on it he chose to listen to her as her hands had him distracted anyways. He had wanted to tell her that even if he hadn't seen with his own eyes didn't mean a pack member hadn't seen them. And the thought of another man seeing his mate in the thralls of passion, made him angrier. That which in turn turned into desire. His want to take her and make her know she was his, they way she was leering above him and how her hands moved on his body. He was slowly relaxing knowing that even though he wasn't pouncing yet didn't mean he wasn't letting all that want boil over. Though his eyes went wide when she suggested leaving their bed, the thought of it made him make a displeased noise. But her spry body was already up and out of the room, and his possessiveness had him following close behind. A soft growl leaving his throat as she pranced around in front of him, she was teasing him and he knew it. He took the bottle from her before tipping it back, the cool liquid sliding right down his throat. Only stopping once the bottle was dry. "You've had your water." He told her, before grabbing her hip and pulling her to him. "Anything else you need? He nearly growled out, he was ready to take her right here before camp and all the other wolves. He could even hear the soft whispers of his own pack mates. The way the snickered and joked about the two of them. Of course it was all about how his wolf was responding to Avery and how she was teasing him. They knew what was going on because anyone a mile away could feel his sexual want for the woman before him. And it was all her doing. "If you don't need anything else I suggest you go home." He whispered into her ear, before nipping at her neck.

Avery gasped as Jake pulled her into him and she looked up at him her hand pressing to his chest. She blushed knowing the others weren't far away. "Jake!" she hissed as he whispered his orders to her. She giggled and pushed back from him. There were probably several other things she could need but the last thing she wanted was someone witnessing her and Jake's mad matting passion. She pushed onto her toes and wiped at his jawline before pulling away and scurrying away from I'm before he lost all his composure. Avery headed back to their room. She barley spun around before Jake was there. She gasped and clung to him. She shivered out of anticipation or nerves because she didn't know how far he would go she wasn't sure. The one thing she did know though was that if at any point she said no he would leave her alone and she did't want that , she wanted to help him and love on him. Avery loved that she was able to rile him up so much.
