The air seemed super-charged with tension and determination. Her classmates for this block were all rather focused on their assigned tasks. The witches normal chatter and banter with the fae was non-existent. The were's were completely focused on their super strengths and shifting. What happened last night, she assumed, brought a dose of reality to many students here. Many who thought they could escape news of the fighting in this "safe haven". One of the only species that appeared to be acting normally were the banshees; not that she was surprised. Cyren was so caught up in her scrutiny of what was going on with the other groups- she nearly missed Finn's instructions. "Today you're going to form a small flame in the palm of her hand and you're going to hold it." He paused, eyes flickering over form before adding, "You may want to take the jacket off." Detecting the banter beneath his words Cyren smiled, a feral thing, before shrugging out of the jacket and letting it fall to the floor beside her. Two could absolutely play this game and as she adjusted the hem asked innocently, "Anything else?" There was a note of smugness that was unmistakable as Finn floundered for a moment trying to find a note of professionalism. "I think we'll start with just the jacket." Instead of replying Ren just held her hand out, all traces of her playful personality fleeing her face while it was replaced with something akin to deep concentration.

Almost instantaneously a fire spurted to life on her hand; though it was a weak flimsy thing. She was scared to let it develop any further. But, without her permission the flame began to spread along the palm of her hand, beginning to spill onto her pale wrists. Frustration easily began to boil in her blood before she tried to take deep, calming breaths. The past couple weeks with this class had shown her that when she got angry, flames got worse. Once her heartbeat started to settle down the fire in her palm began to recede back to a single, dancing flame in the middle of her palm. An unbidden smile touched on her lips, as Cyren was finding herself beginning to touch down on having control of the fire in her veins. Immediately she glanced up, seeking Finn's approval embedded in his gaze. To say his eyes were brown would be a terrible disservice. She supposed that yes, they were brown. And Cyren could be super boring and say that they were like chocolate, or honey, or chestnuts. But why would she do that, when they were so much more than chocolate, honey, and chestnuts. They were the rocks against the shore that destroyed ships. They were the trees bark that has protected it for hundreds of years. They were the ancient dirt that this school was built upon, and the strong whiskey in she sometimes snuck on birthday or holiday. Finn's eyes could melt you with their facade of chocolate, but then they would crush you with their under-layer of earth and soil. Yes. His eyes were brown. And they were torture. She could never have him, not really.

Cyren knew that if she wasn't careful with him- they could both get burned. Fly too close to the sun and all that crap. Once or twice over the course of the class she lost control of her flames, but had been quick to reel it back in. The more she did it, practicing with the flames the more she liked to think that it was like muscle memory. That it would get easier- though a small part of Cyren knew that she needed to figure out how to deal with the anger which had been brewing in her blood since she was a child before mastering these flames of her's. And she only had the rest of the year to do it if she wanted to graduate with Marlee. The rest of the class went as well as it ever did. A couple of times they'd make little comments to the other, which would widely be regarded as banter, though Cyren could pick up on the flirtatious undertones. Almost too soon the class was over, a light sweat beaded on her forehead; though she was quick to wipe it off with the palm of her hand. She was pretty eager however because whether she wanted to admit it or not- she was looking forward to the extra training sessions. Watching as teachers began dismissing their students, she paused, knowing that Marlee would make her way over so they could walk to lunch together. Bending down, scooping her jacket off the floor and shaking it out of dust and dirt. She was shrugging into it's warm leather when Marlee called over the din, "Hey. Sorry I wasn't in Maths or Science, but I'm surprised you didn't get a detention without me there to hold you back."

Glancing over at her, Cyren just smiled shrugging it off. Eyes the color of a clear blue sky through a broken prison wall. They were the color of a perfect raindrop on a blue aster, and shades of a river hurrying to join the great ocean spilt into the middle of her iris'. "Don't worry about it, and by the way- I am a perfectly behaved and model student." One of her classmates who'd been passing by scoffed loudly at this making both girls grin fondly at each other. As they headed out Cyren paused turning to fix Finn with that burning gaze of her's. "See you 'round." Before making her way out of the training area with Marlee. "How'd you sleep?" While she doubted that her father plagued Marlee's dreams; Cyren was nervous that her friend was still at risk, even if the Headmaster swore she wasn't. As they walked, Cyren chattered about how quickly word had broken out about the previous night, added that Greg told her it was Hamish of all people to begin spreading the gossip. They were nearly to the lunch room and the striking brunette was still complaining about the werewolf. "I just don't fucking trust him. I mean if he had been around and witnessed what went down- why didn't I scent him? I can normally pick up a scent a mile away. Hamish should of been no different, I know what rat smells like." The brunette seethed, her orbs flashing with a malice that was usually only aroused at the mention of the wolf. Where did he get off calling her a filthy hound? He was simply a mutt. "Anyway, the whole situation with him is odd- and I fully intend on keeping an eye on him."

Her announcement was spoken with a lofty tone as they entered the lunchroom, heading towards the line. Thankfully the wait for food wasn't too terribly long, and the food was decent as well. Steak tips, mashed potatoes, and green beans- a meal usually only doled out for special occasions. She had no idea that there was to be an assembly, Cyren merely assumed that they were trying to appease the kids. Sitting down, she had wolfed down half her meal when Marlee asked if she wanted to hang out in the new room after their dinner. Apologetically she swallowed the chunk of meat she'd been practically inhaling, and shook her head. "I have a class after this. Extra abilities class so I can graduate on time. But after that I'm free if you wanna marathon Daredevil or something. Maybe you can get a move on with your math and science class. Daniel would totally be down to help you." Cyren suggested, wraggling her eyebrows. The girl hadn't exactly kept it a secret she absolutely adored the idea of Daniel and Marlee as an item. They were too cute in her opinion, plus Danny boy treated Marlee with respect and like the equal she was to him. Her grin only widened at Marlee's blush; though before she could comment she was aware of the doors banging open, and the Headmaster strolling in. A couple teachers were behind him, among them she noted Daniel who looked stone-faced. A silence befell the dining hall as the headmaster made his way to the small stage that was used for addressing students at the front of the room.

"There have been many rumors about what has happened last night. About what this means for the school and if any of you are in danger. I will begin by saying that last night, A fae made an advancement against the school using forbidden magic of controlling one's mind. The victimized student was forced against her will to open the gate. However, thankfully to the quick thinking of student and staff the threat was neutralized. The spell remains broken as myself and the other magically gifted professors of this school are threading up a far more powerful spell. But there is constant guards near the gates and patrolling the grounds. If you have any fears at all about what this means for the future please feel free to seek one of them out. Now for the other business-" He seemed to be able to talk calmly and factually without naming names. However, just hearing the recanting of what happened made Cyren's blood boil with anger at Marlee's father. Anger at herself for not acting quicker. Smoke began to waft from her fingertips and suddenly her appetite was lost. Scowling down at her food she nudged Marlee. "Hey, I honestly cannot sit through another lecture about what happened last night. I'm going to head to training but I'll come find you when you're done and we can watch movies and stuff." She promised in a quiet tone. Once her friend was made aware that she was leaving, Cyren stood and ignoring the stares all but fled the room. She was quick to duck out a side door, exiting through the staff's dining room which was empty into the equally untenanted hallways.

Her footsteps were silent as she traced her way back to the training area, her stomach twisting in knots of anticipation and dread. How horrible would it be to be so close yet so far from the professor whom had caught her attention like a butterfly in the corner of a child's vision. And how tenacious of Cyren to assume that there was something beneath that banter they shared, that even with all he had given her already- friendship and guidance that she still wanted more from Finn. Oh, but to feel the thrill of simply being together, in such a private setting made her skin shudder. Cyren had assumed that Finn would be at the assembly, and her assumptions appeared to be correct as she entered the gym, finding herself to be the only one there. "Alright Nielsen. No distractions." She muttered to herself, shedding her jacket off to toss it aside in a corner it wouldn't get trampled. In the time she had to herself, the hellhound worked on her own. Trying to hold a flame on the tip of each finger- though it wasn't going so great. Cyren was so wrapped up in her work, that she had hardly noticed as the door opened- though flinched when they slammed shut, the fire dying on her fingers. Strolling in casually, she let her gaze wander over Finn and a lazy smile touched her generously curved lips. "Alright Professor, what's on the agenda for today?" She tried to sound casual, sweet even though there was an underlying tension to her words. God she hoped that this went well, that she wouldn't make an ass of herself on their first day training.

He had been relieved to see Marlee looking well during the abilities class, and looking a lot more applied to the class than she normally did. A couple times he'd caught her gaze out of the corner of his eyes; though he wanted to return it forced himself to remain focused on his students. They needed him, he could feel their fear like a chilling rain falling about their heads. And they needed to know how to protect themselves against any threat that may face the school. The class seemed never-ending. He, joining in with the groups to demonstrate the best way to throw a punch, to break a bone and in what places joints snapped easily. By the end of the class, to say he was sore was an understatement. It had been awhile since the vampires had a class that grueling; but perhaps it was what his pupils needed. After the bell rang, alerting everyone it was dinner time, he noted his vampires were more mellowed and relaxed than they normally were. Perhaps sparring classes would be a more regular thing if it helped keep their tempers in check. Overall it had been a great training day for everyone. Marlee got more accomplished than he'd seen in a long time- like the motivation was back to master her fae magic. Cyren hadn't lost epic control of her flames, which was a small improvement and his delicate ears picked up that she and Finn had a one-to-one training session after dinner.

God he hoped those two would be careful. He could see how they were drawn to one another the way birds were drawn to certain migration patterns. Like that Cyren could see Finn as being home, her path to home anyway. It mad the vampire a little worried for the Hellhound, which was natural. He saw her like a younger sister and it would be remiss to see a fallout because something had happened between the two and Finn got fired. But there was also a sympathy that doted in his blood. If what he was witnessing between the two were correct, and Finn did have a soft spot for the hellhound, they were in the same boat. Desiring something that society would frown upon. Pinching the bridge of his nose, and exhaling loudly the professor turned back to his kids with an easy going smile. "Alright, you guys did good. Hit the lunchroom and I will see you all tomorrow." Daniel bid them, heading out after letting them go first. He was going to check in with Marlee, though had noted she was going to Cyren and since the hellhound hadn't seen the fairy all day- Daniel just headed out with Callum. The older vampire was quiet, troubled, and distance on their walk his thin wavering lips pressed into a thin line. "Daniel, this isn't over you know? Whatever happened last night was merely a prequel to what is to come. I'm worried for the children."

If there was anything he knew about Callum it was that he was a soft-hearted male. Smiling, clasping the blonde on the back he just shrugged it off. "Well, if something big is coming I'm sure the headmaster has a plan to get these kids to safety." The vampire just made a noncommittal humming noise in the back of his throat as they headed to their staff room; waiting for the headmaster to come in and let them know that his little speech was beginning. When Daniel first turned- the thought of blood disgusted him. Partially why his first bloodlust had been so bad. Daniel had starved himself of blood for the first three two months of his existence; so when he did take blood he hadn't been able to stop. This memory brushed across his mind like a gentle spring breeze, dry of any real emotional response though. Things in the staff room were going well. He had made himself dinner of three bloodbags and coffee, nearly done with second bag when the door opened and the Headmaster stuck his wispy blonde head in. "We're starting." He announced, an open invitation in his words. Nodding, getting to his feet and hurriedly knocking back the last blood bag and letting his teeth run over his fangs, Dan was quick to join the fae and a few other professors as they made their solemn way to the cafeteria where students were eating their dinner. As the doors opened and the small group of staff accompanied the headmaster to the stage, he caught Cyren and Marlee exchanging dubious glances at each other. If either noticed him they made no acknowledgement.

The air was silent with tension that was felt in his bones as the headmaster cleared his throat before beginning his speech. Now for the other business-" His voice rung clear and high in the large dining room while students leaned forward breaths caught in their throats. For the most part. Cyren wasn't in the mood to listen to this apparently as she abruptly got to her feet muttering something to Marlee before disappearing out of the side door which led to the professor's dining room and the hallway. If anyone else noticed, no one stopped her. The headmaster carried on with his speech; sounding formal and sober. "We are a community. Here is a safe haven for all who come through our doors."

A ripple of agreement broke out through the students at this. "We have faced darker days. We as a community will survive. We will protect our own. Last night was not a foretelling of danger to come in later days. We must keep our heads, go about our work, and refuse to succumb to the shadow of fear that the Rebellion is trying to instill. We are a place of learning and will continue to be so. That is all, thank you for your time." With that the fairy was stepping down from the stage, dipping his head before hurrying out of the dining room and probably back to his office. A buzz had broken out among the students and Daniel would admit that the headmaster knew all the right things to say to get a crowd fired up. His gaze however was caught on Marlee, sitting alone. With a confidence he didn't entirely feel, Daniel made his way to her; sitting in the seat Cyren had vacated and fixing her with a small smile. "Hell of a speech. Pity it had to be said though." Listening to her sweet words, the male found himself almost lost in her tone. For a moment all he could see were her lips, soft and oh so kissable. Though shaking himself out of it he gestured to her plate of food. "If you need help with any work you missed let me know. I'll be more than happy to try to help you." While math wasn't his greatest subject, Daniel would try to capture the moon for her if Marlee so asked.

"I think we'll start with just the jacket." Finn spoke after he took a quick second to regain himself, who wouldn't want to lift the brunette Hellhound into their arms and carry her into an empty private room before ripping her clothes off. He knew he certainly did which shouldn't have been crossing his mind, he wasn't able to stop the imagine from forming inside his mind and he honestly enjoyed it. But there was a time and place for that, even though he should stop himself he couldn't but there was also other things going on at the moment which should be more important to him. Like the fact that even though the school gates were shut and guarded, there wasn't a protection spell cast across the metal gates yet. Which if the students found out, would most likely cause panic amongst them all. But he knew the Headmaster and the other fae wanted their spell to be even more powerful then the last spell, although he was beginning to wonder if he should suggest that Marlee cast the spell over the gates as she was strong enough to undo the spell last night and she didn't even know all of her magic yet. Which was also something that he was concerned about, if the Rebellion did somehow get their claws into the blood fae then everyone who refused to join the Rebellion would be in a lot of danger. But as a orange flame captured his attention, he smiled at Cyren as he noticed the fire had started to spread across her skin however before he could speak to her she had controlled her flame like he knew she could.

Well done, Cyren. You just need to keep yourself calm, and so will your fire." He encouraged her as it was a huge step for her, now she knew what it felt like to control her fire and have it listen to whatever she wanted. He felt proud of her, he may have only met the Hellhound not long ago but he knew how hard it could be to learn how to control something that has always controlled you. But here she was, standing in front of him and she wasn't panicking or engulfing herself in her fire. He couldn't put how he was feeling into words, it was obvious Cyren had been wishing and trying for this to happen one day and it just did. Of course she still had a long way to go, but it was a start and it gave Finn something to work with when they had their one on one class later on. The class continued on as he told Cyren to keep holding her flame in her hand, he worked with his other students who all seemed to be doing better as well with the tasks he was giving them. This is why he wanted to become a teacher, he wanted to see the progress that kids made when they were given the chance and the time as not everyone was a quick learner. He loved having students that needed extra help or people never noticed, like Cyren. Only one Professor gave her the time of day, the rest thought she was too difficult and had given up. They didn't understand what it was like to be the only one of her kind at the school, no one realised how bright and smart she was which is why she often became bored because she needed harder work to keep her mind occupied.

Cyren had been giving Greg and Nix a hand when the bell rang, "Well done everyone. We're all getting there, keep practicing whenever you can as it will make you all better. Now go have a break," Finn spoke to his group of misfits as he had pushed them harder, but he felt like they needed it. The school also needed it if there were going to be more attacks on the school, he didn't want to think about of the students going out there to protect the school but if it came to that then he hoped most of the senior class would be ready and would take up the challenge. It wasn't long before Marlee had rushed over to Cyren and he gave the Hellhound a small wave as the two girls walked away, he made his own way to the staff lunchroom and sat down at the table where Daniel was sitting. Neither spoke as they both knew what was coming, the Headmaster had to tell the students what was happening and he prayed that the kids would take it well enough. He had gotten himself a small amount of food which was gone from his plate before the Headmaster announced that the assembly was beginning, he set his plate back with the other dirty ones before walking into the student lunchroom. He stood towards the back of the room among any Professor that wanted to be there, he listened as the Headmaster spoke and from the corner of his eye he watched as Cyren snuck out of the room by using a side door. Once the short assembly was finished, he walked straight back to the gym and was surprised to see that Cyren was already there practicing to control her flames which impressed Finn more than it should have.

He had tried to be quiet so he could watch the Hellhound a little more, but he hadn't caught the door which caused it to slam behind him. "Alright Professor, what's on the agenda for today?" Cyren asked in a sweet voice, which he wasn't as used to but he still detected the tension behind her tone. "Today we're just going to be talking, so take a seat." He told her as he walked closer to her behind he sat himself down on the ground, his legs crossed as he leaned forward slightly as his elbows rested on his legs. "Maybe you can truly control the fire inside you, you need to work through whatever is making you angry. For many creatures, emotions are the root to many problems. For you the emotions that you feel are making it harder for you to control your flames, normally it would be taught to you from a very young age which is why it's harder for you to control the Hellhound inside of her now." Finn spoke to Cyren, unsure of what she actually knew already about emotions and control. Even he had to keep his emotions in check otherwise he would turn into his snake form, "I'm the same way. If I get angry or upset and I don't realise in time, then it's not really pretty for anyone around me." His sooth voice stayed calm like a gently rolling ocean, the waves aren't too big and all the worries are washed away with the tide.

"I understand what has happened in your life, Cyren. And if you don't feel comfortable speaking to me about it, I will bring Marlee or Daniel with me tomorrow. But you do need to talk to someone, you need to cry and scream and punch things. You need to let the emotions go, otherwise you will struggle with control. Even become the Hellhound if that is easier for you, run around and snarl if that's what you need to do. But just don't start any fires," Finn looked into her cloudy eyes, he could tell that she trusted him and knew what he was saying was right. But it was still going to be hard for her, hell it would be hard for anyone to remember parts of their lives that they had worked on to cover and hide. "It doesn't have to happen all today, just tell me whatever you like and then we can move on and actually have you practice with your flames." He suggested knowing if she spilled out her life to him in one big go then she would get exhausted and he didn't want to risk her regretting it, he wasn't sure how far he could push Cyren yet. He knew she would be able to take a lot, more than anyone in this school but if he pushed her too fast and too quickly then she was going to shut down on him and nothing would happen. Which he was scared about as she needed to learn how to control herself, not just her fire but also her mind. An added protection in fact Thomas decided to try anything, the Rebellion would be hunting down the strongest and most powerful creatures they could find. Two of those were students and best friends, neither could control themselves yet but the Rebellion wouldn't care.

"How'd you sleep?" Cyren asked as they both headed through the doors of the gym, "Like a baby actually. That sleeping potion was strong, you should see the Headmaster about making some for you when you can't sleep." Marlee smiled although she wasn't sure if a sleeping potion would work on a Hellhound or if Cyren's body would burn the potion off before it had a chance to work, but it was still something Cyren could think about on the nights where sleep didn't come easily to her. Then the subject turned onto Cyren complaining about Hamish and how it was he who apparently saw what happened last night. "I just don't fucking trust him. I mean if he had been around and witnessed what went down- why didn't I scent him? I can normally pick up a scent a mile away. Hamish should of been no different, I know what rat smells like." Cyren seethed as she spoke about the boy who Marlee had once trusted, she still didn't understand why she would have ever thought Hamish was amazing and handsome but she knew better now. She knew exactly what he was like and she was disappointed in herself that she allowed him into her life and into her heart, she had given everything to him. Her first kiss, first boyfriend and even her virginity which disgusted her now. But she had been young and stupid, he had said all the right things to her in the charming way that many girls loved.

"I don't know, I hadn't sensed anyone close by until Daniel was there. Then you and Professor Huxley arrived, his dorm isn't even close. I don't know and I really don't care, he can start all the rumors he likes." Marlee was over Hamish and wanted nothing to do with him, "Anyway, the whole situation with him is odd- and I fully intend on keeping an eye on him." Cyren announced as they entered the lunchroom and it did make Marlee smile, she had seen Cyren keeping an eye on someone before and she was actually really good at it which was slightly worrying. But all of that left her mind when she saw the food that had been cooked up for the students, it wasn't a meal that was usually awaiting them but Marlee wasn't going to complain as she filled her plate when food and headed over to the table that Cyren had made their's in their first year at the school. "Did you want to hang out after this? You can come see where the vampires sleep," Marlee smiled as she swallowed a large mouthful of food, "I have a class after this. Extra abilities class so I can graduate on time. But after that I'm free if you wanna marathon Daredevil or something. Maybe you can get a move on with your math and science class. Daniel would totally be down to help you." Cyren apologized but Marlee was glad that Professor Huxley was giving her extra lessons, it meant that the brunette could still graduate at the end of the school year and they could go start their adult lives together like they had planned.

"I'm sure Professor Roberts' is busy," Marlee whispered harshly but the blush that coloured her fair skin was a dead giveaway, thankfully the Headmaster entering the room stopped Cyren from saying anything else to her about Daniel. She continued eating as the Headmaster spoke and nodded when Cyren left the room, she listened to what the Headmaster was saying and as she scanned the room with her eyes she noticed that his words were calming the students down. No one was panicking or picking a fight with her or even calling her names, it was a relief but having the Headmaster speak about keeping the students safe and protected it only made Marlee feel worse. She had put everyone at risk last night and that wouldn't be something she simply forgot about, pushing her empty plate aside she sat there with her head down as tears had welled up in her eyes. "If you need help with any work you missed let me know. I'll be more than happy to try to help you." Daniel's smoothing voice hit her ears causing her to quickly brush away any tears that were threatening to fall down her cheeks, "I'd really like that... He's ruining everything, My Mom told him that if he left than he had to stay away from us both. I just want him to stay away from me, I never want to see him again." She blurted out, she was fuming inside that her father had turned this selfish. She never wanted to turn out like him, she was so much better than that. Her hands balled into fists as they rested on the table, which caused her to stop and take a deep breath in to help her calm down. Her hands softened as she looked at Daniel, "I'll prove to everyone here that I'm not like him and I never will be." It wasn't something that she had to do but she wanted to, she wasn't anything like her father.

"Can we go back to my room? I have all my books there," She asked sweetly as she'd be able to study there and do the work that she had missed out on, she needed peace and quiet when she worked which was the complete opposite of Cyren who usually listened to music. Standing up from the table she took the plates over to the dirty area before she walked out of the lunchroom with Daniel beside her, she didn't feel like talking so the walk to the staff quarters was a silent one. She went down stairs into the darkened corridor and walked until she came to her new room, stepping inside she pulled her boots off and sat down on the comfortable bed. She pulled out her science books and found the task that she would have been given and started on that, it was just a question and answer task which she finished in no time at all. Then came maths which wasn't her strongest subject, she smiled when Daniel sat down on her bed in case she needed any help. She did ask him a few times for some help, which they were able to work out together. "Aren't you meant to be good at everything? In the movies vampires constantly attend school because it makes them seem normal," Smiling Marlee looked at Daniel knowing he hated how the movies and tv shows portrayed vampires, and she loved to mention it whenever he was around.

Shutting her books when her brain had enough of learning, she placed them neatly on the shelf in the room. "Thank you for helping me, I know you didn't have to." She hoped that she hadn't taken up too much of his time either, once she was sitting back on her bed she looked at him. Her heart and body ached for him, for his touch, his kiss, his hold. His strong jaw needed to have her lips trailing soft kiss along the bone, his dark hair needed her fingers tangled amongst his short locks. Marlee had a clear mind but at the same time she wasn't thinking straight, Daniel was all she could see so she lifted her hand and with a spark of silver the door was shut to give them privacy. She was already leaning forward and within seconds, her soft warm lips were pressed against cold ones that she had always dreamed about. Her dreams didn't do him justice, kissing Daniel was more than what she expected and Marlee had been expecting a shit ton. The coolness of his skin soothed her, the contact melted every part of her, her lips were tingling but fitted perfectly with his. She wasn't sure how long they stayed there, but it was much too quick for Marlee as she forced herself to sit back on the bed. Suddenly she realised her actions and a flush formed across her pale skin, "I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that, well I do because I've always wanted to kiss you... Please don't be mad at me," Blurting out as her heart rammed against her rib cage, she could picture this ending horribly for her. Daniel would yell at her and storm out of her room, he would quit his job and leave in the middle of the night. But as Marlee sat there panicking, he wasn't yelling at her or leaving her.

She had been expecting punching bags, working on her sparring and shifting faster, holding flames longer- so when Finn directed her to take a seat, that they'd just be talking she cast him a weary glance. Talk? She could talk up a storm about everything and nothing. About her studies and her recent failures; she could flirt a man until he turned like silly putty beneath her hands. But she doubted that's the kind of talking that Finn wanted to do. , you need to work through whatever is making you angry. For many creatures, emotions are the root to many problems. For you the emotions that you feel are making it harder for you to control your flames, normally it would be taught to you from a very young age which is why it's harder for you to control the Hellhound inside of her now." Yes, normally had her parents not been slaughtered they would of been around to teach her. To show up to the school's parent day's which always left Cyren alone 'lest one of the older kids that were at the orphanage happened to stop by. The creamy-skinned brunette could feel her face paling. It was obvious, to her anyway, why she was always so angry. Her childhood had been bathed in blood and she'd been left alone at the tender age of six. She hardly heard him, as she sunk to the floor and to hide her trembling hands shoved them into her jean's pockets. She was aware of Finn promising that he knew what she had gone through, that he was the same way with his emotions. No, he didn't know. He didn't know that every time she closed her eyes, the night that she was orphaned always waited for her. That it was the one thing she couldn't forget.

Those faces, the faces that had pretended to be friends with her parents, that had murdered her mother and father. And fuck, most kids just assumed that she hadn't been around when it happened. That her mother had hid her somewhere before they were killed. Oh and if only that were the truth. No, she had been there. Had remembered how halfway during dinner there had been knocking- and her mother had been the one to let the man in. Cyren physically recoiled as her mind showed her the play by, her mother's head blown half off. Brains, skull, and hair splattered clean on the opposite wall. How her father hadn't even time to shift before another shot was fired off, this one lodging itself in his leg, and when her father had fallen snarling with pain, the gun had been leveled at his head- and it was Cyren that was splattered in the mess that used to be her father's head. It had been fear that drove Cyren to run, and had actually made it out the door to another waiting hunter. A woman with startling green depths. A smaller gun had been pulled on her; right above her stomach and beneath her breasts. And it hadn't been simply the pain of a gunshot. It was laced with devil-shoestring and vera incredibly toxic to hellhounds. For three hours she was left for dead, laying in her front yard in a pool of blood before a fairy who had come to sell some wares found her. Healed her up. Had brought her back from practically death; though her parents had been too far gone.

From there she was put in an orphanage who could hardly deal with her. Had almost pleaded for anyone else to take her because that was the night she truly lost control of her flames. Too many times she'd nearly burnt the little house to the ground in a tantrum, or when the smallest thing set her off. And that was the night that she had learned rage and hatred and never truly let it go. "Cyren?" Finn prompted gently, jerking her from the worse memory that she possessed. Stomach whirling she nearly threw up, though managed to force herself to relax. She was aware of her eyes misting up, and fiercely with a snarl that echoed about the empty gym swiped at her eyes. She wouldn't cry. Jaw twitching she turned away as if to hide her face and gritted out, "No, you don't know. No no one understands my situation." She wanted so badly to just flee the room, but all that pent up rage and frustration she had carried for twelve years was beginning to burst to life. It was the kind of anger that scared Cyren, that she was worried would make her go berserk. It was the kind of anger that nearly burnt homes down, and since no one had been around to teach Cyren when she was younger- the girl learned that at least then it was easier to just bottle everything inside. Scoffing more to herself the girl pushed up to her feet, pacing a few feet away before whirling back around. "What am I supposed to say? Yes. I am always angry. I kind of think that had you seen your parent's head blown off, covered with brain and skull matter- you'd be a little pissed too. That if someone did this to you-" At this she paced a little closer and without reserve, yanked her shirt up, tossing it aside to reveal he large, angry scar just below her breasts; in the middle of her rib-cage. It was a nasty thing, at least to Cyren. About the size of her fists with angry little scarred veins tampering off of it it like roots was the only thing that marred her otherwise smooth skin.

The girl's chest was heaving, she was incredibly close to having a panic attack- but fuck did it feel good to scream and yell about this. "I am the only thing that has kept me safe. You don't know what it's like to lay awake at night because you are terrified that those people who slaughtered your family will come back to finish the job! But it's that anger that has kept me safe for twelve years. It's kept me sharp and alert." There was the unspoken hurt that it had kept people from getting too close to ever hurt her like that again. Standing there in her bra with her sides heaving Cyren would admit she felt a little better. All of this was something that she had kept secret- even from Marlee. The reason she wore a one-suit when they were going swimming, or the reason she was always so touchy about being seen without a shirt on was this. She had told her best friend that she hadn't been around when her parents were murdered. It was easier. Eventually that thundering in her head died down and she was aware of the pathetic soft hiccuping noises she was making- her best effort to not just sit down with her head in her hands and bawl like a child. Forcing herself to move, mechanically almost, she bent down and picked her shirt up shaking it out of dust and slipping it back on. She felt a little more relaxed as that horrid scar was covered up and the hellhound nervously licked her lips. There was still anger coursing through her veins. Anger and hopelessness, terror and isolation. It was an instinctual move that made the svelte little senior throw herself into Finn, burying her face in his collarbone. "I don't want to talk about it anymore. Anything else. Please Finn, please don't make me talk about it anymore." This was a rare moment for Cyren.

She was never one to beg, but there she was leaned up against her teacher with her hands balled in the fabric of her shirt near tears and shaking her voice quavering with a mixture of deep sorrow and wroth. She had known that had she started talking about what had happened- she wouldn't of been able to stop until it was all over. But she wanted so desperately to just move on and control her flames. She'd do anything, even talk about the event that had changed her life. Had set her on this course that at even eighteen- she could not control the flames. That her emotional problems which people around her assumed were dealt with- were still hurting like a fresh gash. Cyren nearly whimpered with relief when Finn wrapped her up in an embrace, holding her closer to him. For a long while she remained there, focusing on breathing and to get her mind out of that horrible loop of that night. When she finally no longer could smell the stench of blood, gunpowder, and the burning of her scar subsided she mumbled "I'm never gonna be able to control my flames." There was a soft dejection in her voice that was seldom heard; and for once all her walls were down. Letting Finn see the hurt little thing she was inside. The thing that was twisted and forged in hate and anger, bathed and cooled in sorrow and hopelessness. That confident and cocky persona was nowhere to be seen as of now. Pulling back sniffling and carefully wiping beneath her eyes of any stray tears she muttered "Please don't tell anyone about any of this. Everyone really thinks I wasn't around and I don't need anyone's fucking pity parties." It seemed her walls were down for only a moment, before they were back up, a bitter annoyance at the prospect of people figuring out what happened coloring her tone.

He could see the malcontent on her face, marring her orbs- which to him had always appeared spectacularly breath-taking to him. Marlee' eyes were blue. Not the ordinary sky blue, or the color of the paint flaking off of the old shed in the back of the field, or even the little flowers that spring up by the side of the road. No, her eyes were blue like the sea, crystal clear blue- shimmering and crashing and churning. Looking into the fae's eyes you could hear the waves falling against the shore, see the foam flying into the air. Marlee's eyes were blue like the sky right before the sun disappears- dark rich indigo, with specks of wild colors here and there. Her eyes were blue like that warm wool sweater that you put on when the air gets that chill- comfortable, warm, familiar. Marlee's eyes were that kind of blue. The kind that threatened to swallow him whole if Daniel wasn't careful. As she protested about how much she detested her father, and how she'd prove to everyone she wasn't like him Daniel wanted so badly to cradle her face against his hand. "You don't need to prove anything Marlee. Anyone who thinks you are like your father are close minded-bigots who minds won't be changed." Daniel murmured, the best that he could do to assure her that everything was fine. "And anybody that close-minded is not someone you need in your life." His words were soft and sweet, verbally trying to bring comfort to her when he could not physically do so.

She nodded, seemingly placated and asked in a voice so sweet sugary didn't even begin to cover it, "Can we go back to my room? I have all my books there." He knew that he should say no. Tell her that he'd teach her in a common room where there were plenty of students to witness whatever was going to go on between them. A room where he could not do something that would get him in hot water, like press her against the wall of her room and kiss her stupid. To slam his lips against her's and let his hands become acquainted with the smooth skin he'd so often admired. To claim those full, ridiculously curved and inviting lips as his own. To mark her neck with his bite so no other male would dare approach her. The thought prompted a shade of scarlet to break out on his high cheekbones as the thought, and before he could fully understand the words he agreed "Sure. Works for me." He was fucked. Almost as if in a trance he followed as Marlee put away the dirty dishes, he carrying Cyren's as she had left it out, depositing them in the dirty dishes area. He got a few, "Hey professor Roberts." Namely from a few of his female students to which he ignored. If they really asked he'd just say he didn't hear them. Daniel was still cursing himself when the duo departed from the lunchroom, heading towards the staff vampiric sleeping quarters. Marlee, in the lead at first faltered unsure of which turns to take and Daniel wordlessly took charge, showing her which way to go to get back to the dorms she was temporarily staying in at the moment while everything with Thomas was sorted out.

At first, it was a shockingly relaxed atmosphere. Marlee fetched her books, and against better judgement Daniel sat down on the bed with her. The science stuff was far simpler to him than the math stuff. God he hated math, always had. Thus why he went into humanities. Every so often when he was explaining something to Marlee, she'd lean forward- her scent making his throat itch with want. But, he powered through it. He ignored the sideways, wanton glances she'd sneak up at him; and how easy it would be to just say fuck it to the school work and flip Marlee on her back, to offer her a release from her thoughts even if for a little while. But, Daniel did none of that. In fact, he had nearly gotten through the entirety of the second math paper, joking that he'd be having a chat with the maths professor about cruel and unusual length of worksheets. And Marlee was just as playful, bringing up how easy this stuff was since vampires in movies hung around high schools. "Marlee, vampires in the movies today are just cheap rip offs. I mean really, if you had compulsion and immortal life would you stick around high school? Obviously you'd travel. Besides if you want to see a real vampire movie I'm making you watch The Lost Boys. Classic." He was quick to turn back to the math problems; pretending not to see the way she was watching him. Daniel was in the middle of explaining one problem how to do it, at least he was pretty sure that was how you did it, when silver sparked from the tip of Marlee's fingers and before he could question the door was swinging shut and her lips were against his.

Daniel was completely unprepared. One would think that after all the hours he had spent with Marlee - watching the little fae talk, laugh and frown - that he would know all there was to know about her lips. But Daniel hadn't imagined how warm they would feel pressed up against his own. The domineering and confident way the moved against his, lingering for a moment before retreating and leaving him cold. Well colder than normal. For awhile Daniel just sat there, completely awed and horrified by what had just happened. Fuck, she was a student. A student who was a mere baby compared to him. But fuckin' Christ did it feel good. The way it left his body thundering with a warmth and passion he hadn't felt in a very long time. In fact he hadn't been with anyone in a very long time. And the unfortunate tightening in his pants was all too eager to remind him of this fact. Taking deep breaths to calm himself down, and not freak out as that was a surefire way to accidentally hurt the beautiful fairy, Daniel awkwardly shifted before realizing she was speaking. "I'm sorry. I don't know why I did that, well I do because I've always wanted to kiss you... Please don't be mad at me." It was the panic in her voice that drove Daniel next. One moment he was staring down at her wordlessly, all swirls of emotion cycling through his gaze; lust and desire. However, there was nothing that Daniel could say or do to stop himself at this point, as he carefully yanked the blonde to him. The male was quick to cover her smaller, warmer, mouth with his own colder ones in a hungry kiss. Daniel knew in that moment, he had no wish for the kiss to end. Drunk on endorphins his only desire was to touch her, to move his hands under her smooth fall layers and feel her perfect softness.

In moments the soft caress has become more firm, he savored her lips and the quickening of her breath that matched his own. A kiss like this was a beginning, a promise of much more to come. Even if he didn't know it at the time. Before he let himself go any further, Daniel came to his senses. A disgust welled in his chest at himself as he used his vampiric speed to get himself across the room and away from Marlee; because god all he wanted to do was kiss the fae, to run his hands along her perfect, sloping curves and make sure she knew that never would Marlee be alone. However, this was going to get him into huge trouble. Like kicked out of school and shunned by the supernatural community kind of huge. And Daniel was moreover, worried that he was taking emotional advtange of her. Marlee was hurt by her father. Used and bullied by those around her; and who was really there to help? Him and Cyren. As far as Daniel knew neither were bisexual and so that would lead to Marlee looking up at him and thinking of him to be something of a savior. Right now she was just seeking comfort from the one place where she knew to get it- and it was Daniels responsibility to not take advantage of that utter trust she placed in him. Feeling utterly repulsed with himself he took a few moments to gather his thoughts, trying to quell the racing of his heart. "Marlee, there are a thousand reasons we can't do this. But the biggest is- you're emotionally distressed. If I were to engage in any behavior like this, taking advantage of your emotional state for my own pleasure, it's wrong. I can't do that to you. You really do mean too much to me to hurt you that way. I- I'm sorry I shouldn't have kissed you." Daniel murmured shame creeping into his voice. God what would she do when she got over the stinging hurt of what Thomas had done and realized that he'd kissed her? She'd probably tell the Headmaster and there would go Dan's teaching career.

Finn had expected for Cyren to refuse to talk to him about what happened to her, he knew it would upset her but it was something that needed to happen. "No, you don't know. No no one understands my situation." Finn listened to Cyren as she begun to speak, he stayed silent as he wanted to let Cyren get whatever she wanted to off her chest. He was a little uncertain when he watched the Hellhound stand up onto her feet, then she pulled her shirt off and he saw the scar that she probably hates and tried to constantly hide. He stood up himself and stood there, he kept an eye on the gorgeous brunette although he made himself keep his eyes focused on her face as he didn't want to appear like he was a creep. "I am the only thing that has kept me safe. You don't know what it's like to lay awake at night because you are terrified that those people who slaughtered your family will come back to finish the job! But it's that anger that has kept me safe for twelve years. It's kept me sharp and alert." Cyren's voice slipped from her full lips and Finn felt stupid, he hadn't known that she had been there when her parents had been murdered or that she had been left for dead. "I'm sorry, Cyren. I didn't know," He whispered as he was kicking himself, he thought he was doing the right thing in having her talk to him about what happened. But now he felt like the biggest jerk in the entire world, he had caused Cyren to get upset and that isn't what he wanted.

But what caught him off guard was when Cyren moved closer to him and leaned against his body, "I don't want to talk about it anymore. Anything else. Please Finn, please don't make me talk about it anymore." Cyren begged him and his heart did break for her, he couldn't imagine what it was like to watch her parents get killed in such a horrific way in front of her when she was only so young. "You don't have to, I shouldn't have brought it up. Shh Cyren, I've got you and I'm not letting you go." He promised her as he wrapped his arms around her small body, he held her close against his body which he wasn't sure if he should or not. He was just comforting a student but he was still hugging a student, he was torn but in the end he didn't let go of Cyren until she was ready to step back from him. "I'm never gonna be able to control my flames." Cyren spoke to him which did cause him to smile softly, "Yes you will. Trust me, you will learn to control your flames. But we'll just use all that bottled up anger to do it, but it will take longer and will be harder for you to learn. If you're up to it, then so am I." He shared some of his idea with her, he wasn't entirely sure how he was going to go about this but he would find a way because he knew Cyren was strong enough and she was completely worth the extra effort. As she moved back he let his arms drop back to his sides, "I promise you that I will never tell anyone. I don't have a reason, because for some reason I actually like you and enjoy your company. Which is strange, I know." He lightened his voice as he could practically see the walls forming around Cyren once again.

"But have you noticed what didn't happen through all of your talking? Nothing sparked or caught fire, we just have to work out how to do that without you getting upset." Finn was still smiling as he looked at her, she was becoming the usual confident Hellhound that everyone knew her to be. "We still have time left, but I'd understand if you wanted to stop the lesson now." He allowed Cyren to decided if they continued on or finished for the day, he wasn't going to push her into staying and finishing the lesson when he had accidently opened the wound of her parents dying. "I mean you've already taken your jacket off, I did see you practicing without me." He grinned almost teasing her into agreeing with him and finishing the lesson, he knew that he shouldn't but he couldn't help it. The playfulness was thick in his voice as his dark eyes focused on her, by the way her eyes narrowed a tiny bit he knew that she was going to stay. She was just that stubborn and he knew that, he played against it even if he shouldn't have. He wouldn't have done it with any other student, but Cyren was different and as far as he could tell, she trusted him which didn't happen often so Finn wasn't going to do anything to ruin or break that trust.

"I want you to hold a flame in your palm, when you feel that you have control I want you to shut your eyes. Feel the flame, your fire needs to be the most familiar thing to you." Finn spoke soothing as she needed to know what it was like to be a Hellhound, what it felt like in both her hound form and her human form. It was important if she wanted to grow as a person and be able to use her Hellhound for good, instead of the hound controlling her and if she did change into the hound then she wouldn't hurt anyone else that was around her. Finn took a small step backwards to give Cyren all the room and space that she needed, but he was still close enough in case she did need his help. But he was hoping that she wouldn't need his help shortly.

The panic quickly left Marlee's body when she felt herself being pulled closer to the vampire's body, their lips melting together in another hungry kiss. Her mind simply went blank as she thoroughly enjoyed the feelings that he was giving her, she wanted to pull him down so he was laying above her but she knew that would be taking it too far. Just as the kiss turned firm, Marlee felt herself suddenly alone on the bed. Her eyes shot open only to see that Daniel was across the room from her, it hurt her deeply and it shone in her eyes. I- I'm sorry I shouldn't have kissed you." Daniel spoke but it only pissed Marlee off, so much so that she found herself climbing off the bed. "I know that this is wrong, Daniel. But I'm eighteen, I'm an adult and I know exactly what I want. It's only wrong because I'm still a student, but I didn't kiss you because I'm emotionally distressed. She told him rather firmly as she was thinking clearly, yes her father had turned her world upside down again but that didn't mean shit all. "I've wanted to kiss you and hold you and be with you for so long, Daniel. It felt like the right time, at least it did to me." She had to calm herself down but she needed him to know that she wanted to kiss him and she knew what she was doing.

"It's wrong and I won't tell a soul, you know me so you should know that I'd never tell anyone. I won't let you get into trouble or for you to lose your job, I care so much about you and I need you here with me. But I also want to be with you, and I hate that we can't." She deflated her strong stance that she had towards him, her voice softened as she looked at him, her eyes begging him to not leave her in any way possible. "I'm scared that my father will find out and he'll target you to hurt me, but even so I couldn't stop myself from kissing you. That's how strong my feelings are for you," She felt like crying because she wasn't getting her way, but she wasn't like that and she didn't want him to feel guilty if she did start to cry. "I'm not a child, Daniel. Please don't break my heart, I know my feelings aren't one sided. We can wait until I graduate, but I won't always be able to control myself around you. But I'll only do something when I know we're in complete private, I'm not stupid." She eased herself back down onto the bed and her eyes stared at her hands, her fingers were nervously playing with the hem of her dress as she wasn't looking forward to hearing what Daniel was going to say to her. If he told her that nothing could happen between them, she was afraid that she was going to lose it because she needed him there in her life.

"I can't do any of this without you," Marlee whispered and heard some shuffling across the room, like Daniel was torn between staying away and moving closer to her. She knew Cyren would always be there for her, but it was different with Daniel. He was her protection and safety blanket, she just didn't want to ruin things between them because she had made a move on him. She didn't regret it and never would, the timing could have been better but Marlee couldn't wait any longer so she went for it. Which she's never done before, but with Daniel every second was worth it. "You aren't taking advantage of me, I swear you aren't. It's been a long time since I've had contact like that, but if this will ruin what we have then I'll forget all about it." She was willing to forget about the kiss they shared, if it meant Daniel didn't leave her as she wouldn't be able to handle that if it did happen. "Say something, please." She begged him as her eyes stayed on him, her heart was beating wildly in her chest as all different images flashed through her mind. From him kissing her lips again, to him leaving her and breaking her heart into tiny pieces.

She didn't know what she expected from him. Pity? Coddling? So when none of that happened she exhaled with relief. The little brunette truly did detest anyone's charity or pity. Almost self-consciously her hand drifted towards the scar, though with a sense of disgust dropped her hand back to her side. As Finn promised she'd be able to control the flames a small smile touched on her lips. It was eclipsed by a sorrow that was normally hidden but after that, after her outburst- Cyren didn't feel like she had to hide the sorrow anymore. Not around him. "I promise you that I will never tell anyone. I don't have a reason, because for some reason I actually like you and enjoy your company. Which is strange, I know." Some of that sadness was chased away and an earnest amusement glittered in the girl's gaze. However, she let a look of concern flood her face and reaching out gently laid her hand across his forehead. Pulling away noting his confusion she grinned. "I figured you must have a fever or something to like hanging out with a pain in the ass like me. Or a masochist." Softening for a moment, her cheeks turning a delicate pink Cyren murmured, "And I like you too." The conversation drifted to how they still had time, and Cyren lifted her head up.

He wasn't wrong, she had been practicing before he got there and she offered up a coy smile. "I mean I guess I could suffer through a little more training to hang out with you." Her jacket still lay discarded a few feet away and nervously she lowered a hand to fiddle with the hem of her shirt. "I want you to hold a flame in your palm, when you feel that you have control I want you to shut your eyes. Feel the flame, your fire needs to be the most familiar thing to you." She paused, uncertainty flickering in her depths. "O-kaay." She mumbled, doubt in her voice. For a while she stood holding out her hand- nothing. Finally maybe ten minutes later a small, almost pathetically so, flame flickered. However, what was new was the fact that the flame was white. Normally they were a heavy orange or yellow, she'd managed a blue flame once when she was pissed after Hamish had broken up with Marlee because, "He was a no good piece of shit". But white? The heat radiated and crackled against her skin, tickling as she was immune to heat. "Woah." She murmured completely entranced. A few times it cooled and flickered with blue though not her normal heat. In that moment, Cyren wasn't scared of the flame. The flame itself had expanded filling the cup of her hands and dancing just past her fingertips.

Her face was akin to a child's on Christmas, and she glanced towards Finn with a silent sort of smugness. She had no doubt that his help was the thing that got her to push herself, and her flames to burn hotter than they had before. For the next hour Cyren pushed herself to do as Finn said, longer flame, steadier flame, bigger flame, were things they began to work on. Of course every so often she'd make a quip that could be considered flirtatious. By the time they were done, she was feeling much better. There wouldn't be too many kids up, which she was thankful for. She just didn't feel like dealing with the other students. That wouldn't be something she'd miss when she graduated. The hellhound had no idea what she'd do- college or travel, but she had almost a year to figure it out. When Finn glanced towards the clock, realizing their session had run about ten over he drew his hands together, announcing that they had finished. Cyren didn't really acknowledge him, just walked over to her jacket, casually shaking out the black leather before slipping into it. "Walk me back?" There was a guarded sort of hopefulness in her voice as Cyren's large blue eyes met his. In the piercing light of the gym the girl could tell Finn's eyes were copper against honey and, shimmering like two perfect orbs the same shade as nature after it rains.

They were warm and sweet like milk chocolate Finn's gaze was hot chocolate on a cold fall night at a football game, the soft warmness of them wraps around Cyren like a blanket and they almost felt like coming home It all suited him As he nodded, Cyren yawned feigning an exhaustion with an impish light she leaned against Finn much like she had the night Marlee was attacked and he'd led her back to the dorms. It had been an impulsive move for the senior; had been like an instinct. The svelte brunette could feel him tense with surprise. 'Mm tired." She remarked as they made their way back to the staff dorms. Thankfully there were no other students around, and Finn didn't shrug her off. If she were being honest, Cyren just liked being close to Finn. There was something calming about having hearing his strong heartbeat's thrum in her ears; fast and light like a bird. "Sorry for yelling earlier. I.. I guess I just don't talk about it, so it's hard to talk about." She wanted to make sure that he knew she wasn't upset at him. Listening to his voice, the kind that wrapped around your bones and made you wanna fall into, Cyren offered a little hum. "I... Well it's 'cause I trust you. You aren't gonna look at me different and I figured it was important you knew. Plus it kind of felt damned good to get off my chest."

Slipping back into that informal speech it was an indicator that she trusted Finn enough to be herself around. Too soon however they reached her door and Cyren was quick to fish her phone out of her pocket. It was getting late, late enough she figured Marlee would be asleep. Lowering the phone she glanced back at Finn as he lingered at her door. It was then Cyren realized she was still leaning on him and clearing her throat the woman pulled away. "Come in?" He looked a little unsure and leaning forward she fixed Finn with her best puppy-dog eyes ad added in a soft voice, "Please?" Cyren wanted to fix herself an after-training snack, probably Ramen noodles but she'd left her food back in her own dorm. So she'd just get ready for bed. She knew that Finn couldn't be her crutch, her own special sleep-medication. But when he'd stayed last night Cyren had felt safer than she had in a long time. And because he stayed it had given her the ability to fall asleep. Especially after tonight, after talking about her parent's murders; 'Ren could really use that. "I mean, I get it if it's weird for you or anything, but I-" She paused for a moment struggling with the fact that she needed someone other than Marlee. "I just need to sleep tonight, and you helped." Her voice was soft, brimming with embarrassment.

He was at war with himself. God he wanted so badly to finally come clean with how he felt about Marlee. He wanted to hold the fae, be the one to be able to protect her and be a source of pride for her. However, Daniel knew he couldn't. Daniel would be something to hide, something shameful and wrong. Her words just made his arguments for not pursing this possibility of love with Marlee invalid. Biting at his lip Daniel began to pace. It was his nervous habit as he ran his hands through his hair a soft noise of frustration. "You're eighteen. That hardly qualifies as an adult." He muttered feeling disgusted with himself. God did she know how old he was? Eighteen? She was so young compared to him. Daniel had just gotten frozen young. "Marlee." He murmured, that voice which spoke to how his resolve was disappearing. Daniel just wanted to kiss her fears away, hold her through the night to make sure that Thomas didn't come back. To feel her body so alive beating against his. "It's wrong and I won't tell a soul, you know me so you should know that I'd never tell anyone. I won't let you get into trouble or for you to lose your job, I care so much about you and I need you here with me. But I also want to be with you, and I hate that we can't."

He paused for a moment his mind already feebly trying to construct arguments about why that wouldn't work. Cyren namely. The girl had a nose for anything and was creepily perceptive. She'd pick up something had changed. Of course she wouldn't say anything; but that was just one more life he'd be complicating. And as far as he knew, Marlee was well... Just a kid. He didn't expect that she'd already had sex with someone. "I'm not a child, Daniel. Please don't break my heart, I know my feelings aren't one sided. We can wait until I graduate, but I won't always be able to control myself around you. But I'll only do something when I know we're in complete private, I'm not stupid." To this he said nothing, just a deep sigh which seemed to rattle his bones. Hesitantly he raised his gaze to Marlee's finding them watering. However, she bravely fought the tears back and he wanted nothing more to go over there and soundly kiss her. Assure the blonde fae that he saw no one besides her. That's all he'd ever see. And that led to his next problem. Fairies were not immortal. Not like vampires. She'd grow old, die, and Daniel would be left on his own. He couldn't give her a family, no kids or grandkids. It would be a lonely life on that front. As she murmured that she couldn't do any of this without him; that's when Daniel's reasoning broke. After all how could he do anything without her?

"Say something, please." The fae's voice almost broke and Dan knew that this was a battle he had lost. "Oh Marlee." Daniel murmured as she concluded her speech, his voice teeming with trepidation. With confident strides he walked over to her, his hands gently pulling her against him as Dan wrapped her in an embrace. "I- I feel the same way Marlee. I know it is wrong. I'm your teacher, a vampire." He watched her face fall, though he wasn't done talking. "But if there is anything I've learned; it's don't let something like this go without fighting for it." He paused, pulling away and bringing his hand to her cheek to caress the soft skin there. Leaning forward slowly enough so she'd had time to pull away if it's what she wanted Daniel gently brushed his cool lips across her's. "You are worth risking everything for." He promised pulling away, his voice fierce and determined. "I... I wouldn't ask you be with me without being in a relationship. We don't have to wait- if that i what you want." Daniel respected Marlee too much to make her feel like just a fling. No if they were going to do anything, it would be in a relationship. Call him old fashion. "Obviously I can't treat you any differently than I have in public. This stays between us, I would prefer Cyren not to know though little gets past her."

He made that remark more to himself than anything else. It wasn't that he didn't trust Cyren it was more that she could get in trouble for knowing, be held liable for not coming forward with information or put a strain on all of their relations; and Daniel didn't want to cause that. "It's more for her own good. Just so that if something happens and the school finds out- which is a risk I am willing to take Marlee, it will be easier on Cyren if she didn't know." There was a lot that he was risking, his teaching career for one, but it didn't matter. Marlee was the person that he'd fallen for. The woman that he wanted to be with. Even if it left him with a few moral issues to deal with. "Marlee, I just need to make sure- do you want this? A relationship? I can't just do a one-time thing with you. I know that it's.. unorthodox but I have always seen you as an equal. I swear I will treat you as such still no matter what happens." There was a quiet promise in his voice. If something happened and she no longer wanted him- then Daniel would act like a professional. Hopefully she could do the same as well. He knew that they had been there awhile. It was getting late and he really should be getting back as he had papers to grade- but it could wait, all of it could wait for Marlee.

"I figured you must have a fever or something to like hanging out with a pain in the ass like me. Or a masochist." Cyren spoke as confusion settled across Finn’s face when her hand brushed against his forehead, ”I’m anything but a masochist and you aren’t a pain in the ass. At least not to me,” Finn smiled at the young student noticing the light blush that was tickling her cheeks, something stirred inside of Finn hearing that Cyren did in fact like him as well. It was hard to explain, importance maybe but there was definitely need there. He was needed by all his students but this was different, Cyren liked him and enjoyed his company. She wanted him to be around even after classes were finished with other students could have wanted as well, but he didn’t care that much for any of them apart from Cyren. Finn stood off to the side so he could give the Hellhound space, it took her a little while before a tiny weak flame came to life in her palm.

A proud smile formed on his lips as he watched the flame grow stronger but stayed flickering in the brunette’s palm, what did surprise him was the colour of the flame. It was white which he hadn’t been expecting to see so soon in Cyren’s training, but it only told him that the small Hellhound held more power than he had first realised. He stayed silent as his eyes only moved from the flame to Cyren’s face, he wanted to encourage the Hellhound but didn’t want to interrupt her just yet. He needed her to feel what it was like to control her fire, to feel comfortable with it as it was who she was born to be. He also needed her to feel what it was like to have a flame that could be put to good use, her flames who always harm other people badly but as long as she knew never to harm innocent people. A few minutes had past them by when Finn begun to instruct Cyren, he was pushing her but he knew that she would be able to take more steps in her training. Of course he watched for another break down or any signs that she wasn’t handling it, but he wasn’t worried now. She had opened up to him about the night her family were attacked and killed, she had shown him the scar that a hunter had given her that night. But here she was, finally controlling her fire, flame by flame and it would take time but she was heading in the right direction.

Finn had been too absorbed by the Hellhound before him that he hadn’t been keeping an eye on the time, so when he glanced at the watch around his wrist and noticed they had gone ten minutes over time he decided it was enough training for the night. ”As much as I think you could continue, time is up. It’s getting late and you should really get back to the dorm,” He told her as his own entire body held so much pride for Cyren, she wouldn’t have been learning this much if no one had taken the time to give her extra time for practicing. It made his blood boil knowing no one else cared for the Hellhound, when really she should have been given extra training times in the first year she started school here. She was a Hellhound, one of the few left. She held enormous power in her small body, power that could bring down life or help it grow but all the Professor’s saw the challenge of a clashing personality and brushed her aside. Cyren was the only creature at the school that desperately needed to learn control, she was dangerous to everyone in the world if she couldn’t control the fire that filled her veins. Why no one gave her the time of day was beyond him, he had to remind himself to stay calm whenever those thoughts crossed his mind otherwise there would be an overgrown snake roaming the school grounds.

”Walk me back?” The hopefulness in her voice was something Finn didn’t dare refuse in fears of crushing it, it hadn’t taken him much time at all to agree to walk her back to the staff room she was staying in. Mostly to make sure that she arrived safely but he wouldn’t let her know that is what he was thinking, ”Come on then. But this is only because we’re going the same way,” Finn didn’t want to do anything other than chill out in his room, the day hadn’t been hard or overly stressful but the other night was still bothering him. He was still exhausted so he could only imagine that Cyren and Marlee were feeling even shittier than he was right now, a grin stayed on his lips as they left the gym together and Cyren made herself comfortable leaning against his body. Stating that she was tired, he just let her lean into him. Mostly for her benefit, at least that is what Finn telling himself as he rested his large hand in the middle of the Hellhound’s back. "Sorry for yelling earlier. I.. I guess I just don't talk about it, so it's hard to talk about." Cyren explained to him although she didn’t need to, ”Trust me. You don’t need to apologise, Cyren. I pushed you and I had been expecting for you to do some yelling, but you shouldn’t feel like you need to keep it bottled up inside of you. Yes, the world doesn’t have to know. But sometimes it might be good if you did talk about it, just so that pain doesn’t swallow you.” He softened his voice as he spoke to her, whether she chose him to speak to or Marlee. It didn’t matter and if she only wanted to talk about it one time in a year, at least it was better than her never mentioning it.

Once they reached the room she was staying in he stood there waiting for Cyren to bid him a goodnight, but then she asked him to come in again and every fibre in his being told him to say no. That last night couldn’t happen again, he was a Professor and shouldn’t be entering the room she was staying in for the time being, but looking into crystal clear sea coloured eyes he saw that need for him washing over her face. It wasn’t right for him to be this close to any student but he found himself not able to refuse Cyren, a heavy sigh past through his lips. ”Alright but you better not let me fall asleep again, I can’t stay the night again.” He told her so she would know, he turned the door knob and allowed Cyren to enter the room before he followed her inside once he made sure no one was watching them. Shutting the door he turned around to face the brunette once more, ”It’s been a long day. You need to get some sleep,” He spoke knowing she had to be feeling the effects of not only training harder than usual, but also the emotion drain from telling him what happened that night. He walked over to the bed and kept his back facing Cyren so she could get changed, he pulled back the bed covers for her and sat down on the edge of the bed. He wasn’t going to put himself in any position where he would be tempted to close his eyes, much like he did last night when he laid down beside the pretty brunette.

Marlee had to grit her teeth when Daniel made the comment about her age, she was eighteen and although she had just broken free of her teenage years, she was still technically an adult now. Of course she wouldn’t seem like one to Daniel, but it wasn’t fair that he compared their ages. As she waited for him to say something, she watched as he walked over towards her. This time not using his speed but every step he took was filled with confidence, than she was brought into his embrace which she instantly returned as she wrapped her arms around his waist. "I- I feel the same way Marlee. I know it is wrong. I'm your teacher, a vampire. But if there is anything I've learned; it's don't let something like this go without fighting for it." Daniel paused as she looked over his face, his cool hand caressed her cheek and she felt like she would start to cry although this time her tears would be happy ones. She stayed where she was until his chilly lips pressed against her’s for a sweet but quick kiss, ”You are worth risking everything for.” Daniel promised her as he pulled away from her lips, she had been waiting for so long to hear those words come from his mouth and now it was happening.

There were numerous emotions running through Marlee’s body at the moment, happiness, joy, warmth. Too many for her to focus on just one, "I... I wouldn't ask you be with me without being in a relationship. We don't have to wait- if that’s what you want." Marlee couldn’t look away from his eyes, they reminded Marlee of a hot dark chocolate drink on a cold winter night. A warmth always spread through her body whenever she was able to gaze into his eyes and get swept away from reality, ”Of course that’s what I want. I’ve wanted you for a long time now, I don’t want anything but you, Daniel. You keep me going in life, I wake up looking forward to seeing you and talking to you.” Marlee told him firmly, she knew what she wanted in life and he was standing right in front of her. She had no idea what she wanted to do after she graduated school, but if she had Daniel and Cyren by her side then she knew she would be safe and would do whatever her heart wanted.

Marlee knew this had to stay a secret and she wanted to run off and tell Cyren, but it would better for the Hellhound if she didn’t know so she wouldn’t end up in more trouble. ”Cyren will try to guess but I won’t tell her anything, it’s better off that way.” She promised him as she would do her hardest to keep this between them, she wouldn’t be able to live with herself if Daniel lost his job and received a reputation for being in a relationship with one of his students. Marlee would never allow that to happen, "Marlee, I just need to make sure- do you want this? A relationship? I can't just do a one-time thing with you. I know that it's.. unorthodox but I have always seen you as an equal. I swear I will treat you as such still no matter what happens." Daniel promised her and for the first time in her life she was being treated right and with respect, when she had dated Hamish it was like she wasn’t as good as he was even if they both came from respected families. She hated that feeling and wouldn’t put herself in a relationship like it again, but she trusted Daniel completely and he had never made her feel like that. Instead of telling him that this is what she wanted, she leaned up until her lips were covering his but this time she let their tender kiss linger. She pressed her body against his as all of her emotions were transferred through the kiss they were sharing, ”I want this.” She whispered her promise as she barely broke from his lips, she wanted to kiss him all night long but knew that he’d need to leave shortly.

“I want you to stay here with me, but you should get going.” She whispered as she took a step back from him, “Thanks Professor for helping me study.” She raised her voice in case any vampires were close enough to hear, she wanted them to know that Daniel had been tutoring her although she guessed that the Professor’s should already know that she would get extra help with any classes that she did miss from sleeping in. She sent Daniel a cheeky smile as she looked at him, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” She softened her voice as she sat back down onto the bed so she could finish up the work that she had missed, she would need to get used to him leaving her at night as she wouldn’t risk asking him to stay with her as there was a chance someone would catch them. They could make up an excuse but it was easier to get let him leave, besides she would see him tomorrow whenever she actually woke up.

She was almost tempted to lean forward, wrapping her arms around him in a moment of relief. However, she didn't. Instead Cyren's gaze just sparkled with a relief that was painfully obvious. He was kind, and understanding more so than the Hellhound felt she deserved. ”Alright but you better not let me fall asleep again, I can’t stay the night again.” She bit her lip trying to hide the smile. "I promise." Stepping into the room she cast a weary gaze around as if searching for monsters in the dark. She hated new places, and while this room had it's perks Finn, she wanted to sleep in her own bedroom again. But she wasn't about to voice any of that to Finn. Cyren knew she was pushing boundaries by asking him to stay until she fell asleep again. ”It’s been a long day. You need to get some sleep.” Glancing over as Finn spoke she nodded. Today, with everything she'd said and last night- Cyren was too tired to stay up. "'Kay." She murmured, waiting until his back was to her before she began to get undressed. She was quick to kick off her heels, watching as they tumbled towards the corner of the room. Next she began to peel her leggings off. Throwing a glance towards Finn, making sure his back was still turned so he couldn't see her scar, Cyren shucked her shirt off.

For a moment she was confused, wondering where her clothes were until she recalled leaving them in the suitcase behind the bathroom door. The girl was quick to pull out her Wonderwoman pajamas. They were a little juvenile but whatever. Cyren liked Wonderwoman. Turning back to Finn, adjusting the hem of her shirt, Cyren wasted no time in turning the lights off, and going to flopping down in her makeshift bed. The professor sat on the edge of the bed, and if Cyren was anymore awake she'd manage to find a way to cajole him into laying down for a little bit. Alas she was exhausted and it was enough to breath him in. He was a scent that represented freshly cut timber, like the damp forest after a rainy day; he smelt exotic, like fresh-scented pine and honey. His aroma was like a drug to her, Cyren couldn't get enough of it. Tonight, she took a little longer to fall asleep. Every time she thought that she was comfortable, Cyren would switch sides restlessly. The senior was on some level nervous about falling asleep. She was sure that only images of her parents would wait for her; and Cyren couldn't bring her mind to a rest. At first, Finn said nothing though eventually and with an air of hesitation he reached out, gently running his hand through her hair- trying to calm her down she supposed.

"It's alright. Just rest Cyren." Finn murmured through the darkness. Rolling back so she could look up at him through the darkness the senior made a soft sighing noise before curling up to him closer than she had before. "Don't go yet." She mumbled, wanting to make sure he'd be there until she fell asleep. "I won't." Finn whispered back, easing Cyren's nerves. It took awhile after that, but she eventually settled down. Before however, she closed her eyes before drifting to sleep she reminded him with a sleepy lit, "Don't fall asleep here." He might of answered, but Cyren was too close passing out from the exhaustion she'd been fighting. She only stirred slightly when Finn got up, though was quick to still again. She wouldn't remember him leaving; which was for the best. Her sleep was dark, dreamless- thankfully. The next thing the girl was aware of was the pressing weight of her blankets, and her phone vibrating near her pillow- the alarm going off. Groaning she sat up, taking a moment to get her bearings. Finn's scent from her bed was long since cold and he must of left hours ago which was good. He hadn't fallen asleep here. Or if he had it wasn't for very long. Of course there was a bit of her that wished he had; not that she'd admit it.

Contrary to yesterday Cyren got herself ready pretty quickly. Shower cranked up to the highest temp to help her wake up, threw her clothes on and quickly threw her thick, unruly hair into a side braid. Cyren took a little longer to do her makeup, but managed to get out of the door before most professors. Her sensitive hearing could hear them getting ready, grading, or some still sleeping. She paused in the hallway, tempted to go and get Finn but decided against it. Instead she rummaged around her abstract colored backpack, fishing out her headphones and headphones. It wasn't long before she was heading towards the vampire staff's dorms, Twenty One Pilots playing rather loudly in her headphones. It was a wonder she hadn't gone deaf. As she entered the long winded and frankly creepy vampiric headquarters she paused slowing down. Which way had Marlee's dorm been? With a frown looked around beaming brightly at the couple of staff that had exited their rooms; heading to get some breakfast she assumed. Cyren was considering just texting the fairy to see if she was up when she heard a familiar voice. "Ms. Nielsen. I take it we're not lost?" Turning around she noted Callum and sheepishly grinned. "Heh. Kind of. Marlee's room is...?" Callum pointed in the opposite direction. "Last door. Try not to wake everyone up Dear."

Nodding Cyren turned on her heel and bounded toward the end of the hallway and knocked on the door, waiting. A couple minutes later the door opened revealing Marlee. Instantly Cyren noted the glow she had about her. Her eyes seemed to dance with light and there was a little smile on her lips that Cyren didn't even think Marlee was aware of. "Jesus how could I forget you were such a morning person. Ready for breakfast, I am starving." As if to prove her point, the hellhound's stomach rumbled. As Marlee agreed, Cyren was quick to switch her headphones off, shoving them back into her bag. As they headed towards the dining hall, Cyren chattered about a million miles an hour. "So you won't believe it! You know how I was training with Fin- er Professor Huxley last night right? Well, I managed a white flame. That's even hotter than the blue flame I managed when Hamish did that really nasty break up with you." She gushed, her Aegean orbs glimmering with excitement. "Like, I might actually graduate on time thanks to him. How about you? How was your tutoring session?" Cyren waggled her eyebrows as they walked, a teasing note creeping into her voice.

He was dazed. Dazed that someone like Marlee would want something like him. ”Of course that’s what I want. I’ve wanted you for a long time now, I don’t want anything but you, Daniel. You keep me going in life, I wake up looking forward to seeing you and talking to you.” He felt the tips of his ears heat up and a small smile touched on his lips as he leaned forward, kissing her forehead. "Alright. I just needed to be sure." Daniel promised. As much as his brain screamed this was a bad idea- he just felt like it was right. His job here was more to pass time. Yes he liked teaching, but there were other things he liked to do as well. And if his relationship was ousted, then it wouldn't be the end of the world. She was an adult, he wouldn't go to jail. ”Cyren will try to guess but I won’t tell her anything, it’s better off that way.” He looked down at her a small smile touching on his lips. "I don't doubt she will. It's not the end of the world if she finds out- it could just be... Messy." Daniel shrugged. Juxtapose to his teaching persona he was actually a pretty laid back guy. Just not many students got to see that. He had caught Marlee moving towards him and fixing her with his burning gaze.

Saying nothing at first she leaned against him, and Daniel could feel her delicate heartbeat. It was odd, his own heart didn't beat and he'd almost forgotten what it would of felt like. He didn't really have time to continue that line of thinking as Marlee leaned up brushing her lips across his- a sweet, gentle kiss. ”I want this.” She finally promised, as she pulled away. Daniel believed. "Me too." He rumbled, his voice throaty and gruff. Glancing towards the clock he knew it was getting late, he'd have to go which wasn't a problem. It would do Daniel some good to get his thoughts under wrap and he and Marlee had pretty much caught up. As if reading his mind the fae spoke, “I want you to stay here with me, but you should get going.” He nodded, a small smile touching on his face as she spoke up a little louder, “Thanks Professor for helping me study.” Raising an eyebrow at her cheeky grin, he bit back an impertinent one of his own. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” He nodded. "See you tomorrow." The man echoed and proceeded to head out of her room, pausing he turned around offering her a warm smile. "Sleep well Marlee. Don't forget the potion the Headmaster brewed up for you okay? If you need anything just holler."

With that he left back to his own room; mind spinning. What had he gotten himself into? The more romantic part of his brain was thrilled. "She could really be something." It told him, though the more logical part of his personality snickered that he was going to get in so much shit for this. "Whatever comes, comes." Daniel tired to tell himself, shrugging it off. At least now he only had to worry about not showing his feelings for Marlee in front of people. And while he didn't feel entirely right about having a secret relationship with her, it wouldn't always have to be that way. If they lasted that is There were struggles that they would face. He knew that, but he liked to think that they'd get through them. As he turned his lights on, he headed to his fridge, pulling out a few bloodbags. He'd have to go and get some more from the kitchen soon. Carefully opening the packet he took a seat on his bed careful not to spill anything. Tomorrow was the start of something new; and he hoped that this would stay under wraps. At least for now. Once finishing his snack, Daniel tossed the bags into the trash and set the mug in the little sink of the kitchen area. Stripping down to just his boxers the vampire crawled into his bed closing his eyes.

Sleep didn't find him at first. It evaded him for a good part of the night; his mind was too restless. He ended up falling asleep thankfully. He would of been a bear had his mind kept him up. Again his dreams weren't pleasant, snippets of memories that made him cringe. Normally Daniel woke up with an hour to go to class. An hour to eat and get ready. Today however he was awoken by a flurry of heels against the corridor, and knocking at Marlee's door before Cyren could be heard. Groaning under his breath Daniel sat up, rubbing his eyes wearily. The events of last night flooded back to him, making the man grin a little. "Gonna be an interesting day." He murmured to himself. He showered, quickly as possible as his water took forever to heat up. When he got out, he shaved the stubble which had sprouted on his face, and took care of brushing his hair and teeth. Dressing in a more casual outfit, black jeans, white shirt, and black sweater. Once he was ready, grabbing his briefcase with all his lesson plans, Daniel headed down to the staff's dining hall. He passed a few colleagues on his way down, greeting them with a nod as he passed them. The staff room, when he got there, was pretty empty and Daniel got his blood bags pretty quickly. Sitting down towards the back of the room, he pulled out a few papers, opened a bloodbag and poured it into a mug before setting to work in finishing grading his papers.

Finn waited for as long as it took for Cyren to drift off asleep, once she did he carefully and quietly made his way out of the room. He didn’t want to wake her so he silently shut the door after him before making his way into his own bedroom, it was late and he didn’t have the patience or the will to do any marking. So he decided to just get some sleep for himself, he pulled his shirt and pants off before climbing into his bed in only his boxers. He was fast asleep the second his head hit the pillow and for once in a long while he only woke in the morning when his phone was sounding his alarm, it was slightly muffled by the fabric of his pants as he had left the phone in the pocket. Groaning he rolled onto his back and stared straight up at the ceiling, he laid there for a while as his alarmed continued to ring. Finally he stretched his limbs out and pulled himself out of bed, he shut his phones alarm off and headed into the bathroom. He took a shower to wake himself up even more before getting dressed, today he decided on dark grey pants with a navy button up shirt paired with the black shoes he wore yesterday. He brushed his damp hair and applied a small amount of after shave to his skin, and that is all he could be bothered to do.

Exiting his room he listened in to see if Cyren was wake, he didn’t hear anything from her room which meant she wasn’t there. He wasn’t worried about it, she was most likely hungry or wanting to see her best friend. So he continued on his way to the staff lunch room, he sent small smiles to other Professor’s that he past as he walked through the corridors. Upon reaching the staff room he picked up some toast and jam before sitting down at the table where Daniel was marking some papers, “Morning.” He grumbled quietly as he took a large drink of his black coffee which would keep him awake for the classes he had, “Morning.” He received in return from the vampire sitting opposite him, although to Finn the vampire seemed different. Finn couldn’t put his finger on what it was, but Daniel seemed to be in a better mood than he has been in lately. Which was good for everything but Finn was curious as to what caused the change in the male, although he didn’t feel like asking and even if he did, he doubted he’d get much of an answer.

Breakfast seemed to drag on, Finn had finished his breakfast a while ago but was now onto his second cup of coffee as he like Daniel spent the time marking papers. Finn had wanted to get it done last night but he had stayed in Cyren’s room much longer than he had planned, he didn’t mind even though he should have. But if him being there helped her actually sleep then he would continue to stay with her, it was unethical he knew that and he could get into hot water if anyone found out. But his main concern is his students and if he can help one, then he will do so. Finn had only just finished marking the last paper when the bell rang, he was usually always in his classroom by this time. Packing up he placed the papers back into his briefcase and made his way to his class, he was actually the last person to make it there which didn’t bother him in the slightest. “Good morning class, today we are going to actually be starting the proper work for the year. I’ve given you all enough time to adjust, so today we will be starting our first essay.” Finn announced to his class as he handed back the freshly marked papers, groaned filled the room which only caused a grin to spread across his face. He was enjoying this, as sad as that may be.

He past Cyren as he walked back to his desk, she was again sitting with the Draconian twins in the back row of desks. He told the class to pull out the first book in the reading material list, he started off reading the first chapter before he picked out students in his class to continue reading. He had written the reading list and made it easy on the class, he had picked a short book that they could finish reading in one class. It was an older book that had been used in English classes for years, it was about a family and all the drama they went through in a year of their lives. He was leaning against the front of his desk as he listened to Nix reading aloud the last paragraph of the book, “Interesting? Well I think so, anyway I have a list of questions that I want you to all answer in the one essay. I don’t need a novel about it, but I also won’t be accepting one page essays.” Finn spoke clearly as she handed out the essay questions and a format in which the students needed to follow. “You will have time in the next couple of classes to work on this, but you should also work on the essay in your own time.” He again heard groans from the students which caused him to chuckle softly, he gave Cyren a smile when he placed the piece of paper down onto her desk just as the bell rang to finish the class.

Once Marlee had finished her homework she got ready for bed early, she didn’t like missing classes and Cyren hadn’t called her or messaged her so she was probably busy herself. She drank the sweet potion and again within seconds she was fast asleep, not waking until the morning when her alarm sounded from her phone. She felt refreshed and ready for the day, she hopped into the shower before she got dressed. She kept her makeup simple like she always did and didn’t apply too much, she did however spend more time on her golden locks. She curled every piece and tied half of her hair up into a ponytail while the rest fell around her shoulders, she tied the laces to her sneakers when a knock sounded at the door. She quickly stuffed her books into her backpack and then opened the thick wooden door, only to see Cyren standing there. "Jesus how could I forget you were such a morning person. Ready for breakfast, I am starving." Cyren spoke before her stomach rumbled, “I’m ready. Let’s go,” She was also hungry but she wanted to catch up with her friend as well, it felt strange not constantly being around the Hellhound. They usually only had to catch up with each other during the day when they had different classes, never when they were heading to breakfast.

Marlee slipped the straps of her backpack over her shoulders as she shut the door to her room, the two of them started walking towards the stairs that would take them out of the vampire staff quarters. "So you won't believe it! You know how I was training with Fin- er Professor Huxley last night right? Well, I managed a white flame. That's even hotter than the blue flame I managed when Hamish did that really nasty break up with you." Cyren gushed as they walked through the halls and it surprised Marlee, “Wait… you can make white fire? I thought it was only blue and orange,” Those were the only colour of fire that she had seen Cyren make, but now that Marlee thought about it, it made sense that Cyren would be able to make every type of fire. From the hottest to the tallest, from a flicker to an out of control raging fire. “That’s amazing, Ren. Thankfully it was Professor Huxley who got the job here, he seems to work well with you.” Marlee’s smile was basically covered in sugar as her eyes were light and bright, just the way she used to be before her father tried to use her. It was because of one vampire, she wanted to tell Cyren everything that happened last night but she kept the promise she made to Daniel and kept her mouth shut. "Like, I might actually graduate on time thanks to him. How about you? How was your tutoring session?" Cyren was filled with excitement which Marlee hadn’t seen for a while and it was nice, things were beginning to look up for them both but how long would it all last?

“I told you many times before, I won’t graduate unless you’re there with me. And it was fine, he helped with me science and tried to help me with my maths work. Although he wasn’t all that good at maths, he still gave it a go. Then afterwards I went to bed, nothing exciting on my part.” It was pretty much what happened last night, and as far as Cyren knew that is exactly what had happened. They entered the student lunch room to find it was almost full, so Marlee grabbed onto Cyren’s hand and pulled her into line. They chatted about Cyren’s flame more while they were served breakfast and went to their table, sitting down Marlee listened to her friend’s voice as they ate their food. It did feel like old times when they didn’t have a care in the world, Thomas wasn’t trying to use Marlee to help the Rebellion nor was Cyren worrying about not graduating. But it all came to an end when the bell rang, “I’ll see you soon.” She bid Cyren goodbye as they had separate classes now, she waved to her Hellhound friend as she walked towards Daniel’s classroom. When she arrived he was sitting at his class but she had prepared herself for this, she gave him a small smile like she normally would and took her seat at the desk in the front row. She could do this, she could act like nothing happened between them until she was graduated and living a life away from the school.

When all students had arrived, Daniel begun the class and told them straight away that they would have to work now for the year. Marlee knew this would happen and most teachers were probably starting to get into the work that the students needed to finish within the year, she watched Daniel as he handed out papers of different historic events to every student. They would need to research the event and answer questions about it, some events were involving creatures while others were involving human events. Marlee received one about a dam and was an event in the human world, she didn’t mind at all but she could hear a few people complaining about the events that they received. It would be easier enough to finish within the time period that Daniel was setting, but of course this wouldn’t be the only piece of work that would be given to the students that day. After Daniel was finished speaking he allowed the rest of the class to start on their work, so Marlee found a book on dams and flicked through it until she found the one she was to research. She wrote down notes as she read through the pages of the old book, she went into her own little world that she nearly missed the bell that rang signalling the class was ending. She quickly packed up her belongings and set the book back onto the shelf where she found it, “Bye Professor Roberts.” She smiled as she rushed out of the classroom before they were left alone and she did something stupid like kiss him, she just had to focus on getting to the science labs were Cyren would be waiting for her.

It appeared the hellhound relished in the surprise that flittered onto Marlee's face. "I guess I can, I didn't even know I could 'til last night." Normally not a morning person, she was in a better mood than one could normally find her in this early into the day. As they walked the black dress swayed and bounced with her movement, heels clicking against the floor with staccato notes. b]"Yes Marlee, I am on my way to dominating the entirety of the world." Her chipper comment was made almost beneath her breath as they past several staff members, Cyren ignored them as they past. That look of triumph didn't fade far from Cyren's eyes. Now the Draconian's couldn't tease her about her flames. She was right on par with them. "That's amazing 'Ren. Thankfully it was Professor Huxley who got the job here, he seems to work well with you." At this her head jerked towards towards Marlee as she recalled just how well he worked with her. Like, stay over her dorm until she fell asleep so not to have nightmares good. Instead of letting onto much genuine feelings Cyren just shrugged with a naughty little grin. "Yeah, he's cute too so that's a plus." Marlee raised an eyebrow and Cyren allowed herself a small, honest smile. "He's nice to me, and gives a damn. So that's pretty rad."

The conversation then turned towards Marlee's night, and her tutoring session. It was fine, he helped with me science and tried to help me with my maths work. Although he wasn’t all that good at maths, he still gave it a go. Then afterwards I went to bed, nothing exciting on my part.” Cyren let out a little snicker of amusement at this. "Roberts not good at something? I'm gonna have to write this down." Marlee playfully swatted at her, though it was all good humor on their parts. As her fae friend led them into the line to get food Cyren nearly started whining. She could vaguely recall there were always large meals growing up, so she figured it must of been the species that had squirrel like metabolisms. Marlee was kind of quiet, and seemed almost in a day dream as they headed back to their normal table. Cyren didn't press just chattered about how awesome it was that she could use white flames, and Greg and Nix were gonna "Eat their fucking words" that her flames weren't as hot. As much as she liked the twins, they came from an incredibly proud race; and during abilities it showed. After practically shoveling her food down her throat, a decent amount of Lucky Charms and coffee, it was time to head to their first class. "See you, Marlee" called once they got out to the hall, separating for different directions. "Don't get anymore detentions!" Cyren called back, winking with an impish grin.

Her good mood didn't fade as she made her way to Finn's room raising an eyebrow when he was nowhere in sight. Shrugging it off as he was on his way Cyren took her normal spot towards the back. Greg and Nix were already there; a spot between the two twins open. Their garnet gaze fell on Cyren as she offered a cheeky grin. "How was your night?" Cyren asked, her shit-eating grin touching on her lips as the two exchanged a glance of subtle amusement. "You know, plundering villages and eating royalty." Nix replied just as easily. Greg looked horrified. "She's kidding. We watched Halloween movies. You?" Setting her things down, Cyren replied casually, "Oh you know. Just practicing. Managed a white flame." God she was proud of that. Greg clapped her back, congratulating her while Nix just quipped, "And now you're an honorary Draconian." Cyren shuddered at the thought. "Sorry guys, scaly things aren't my thing." It was about as close as she'd admit to about being afraid of reptiles. Before the twins could respond the door was flung open and Finn rushed in, setting his stuff down. The bells shrill ringing let the class know he was just on time. "Aww, ten more minutes and we could of had a free block." Nix whined, her thick strawberry blonde falling into those startling garnet depths. Cyren just hushed her as Finn began to speak, addressing the class. “Good morning class, today we are going to actually be starting the proper work for the year. I’ve given you all enough time to adjust, so today we will be starting our first essay.”

Greg looked somewhat panicked, and she recalled his strengths being more in maths and science. She offered him a sympathetic smile, though said nothing. Cyren was restless today. She could feel the fire flowing in her veins; and was brimming with energy to use it. God she couldn't wait for abilities class. As the class went on, and Finn stopped by her desk to drop off the work, Cyren avoided looking up at him and giving him her best sordid smile. As they were told to open books and people would be picked to read aloud Greg leaned over in his bag, rooting around for a good five minuets before fixing Cyren with another panicked expression. "Can you let me read on with you? I brought the wrong book and I don't want to get a deten-" Waving it off she scooted a little closer, sliding the book over so he could read as well. It was almost uncomfortably close, their shoulders touching but Cyren felt kind of bad for the Draconian boy. Cyren tried not to tense as Finn's gaze landed on her shoulder, though he called on Nix to read aloud. By the time she finished reading, Cyren had been completely enthralled. “Interesting? Well I think so, anyway I have a list of questions that I want you to all answer in the one essay. I don’t need a novel about it, but I also won’t be accepting one page essays.” This shouldn't be too much sweat off her back.

“You will have time in the next couple of classes to work on this, but you should also work on the essay in your own time.” He spoke as he walked around, handing out the essay questions. As he reached her desk, he gave her a small smile. Returning it, she averted her eyes rather quickly as he continued on his way. Before too long however, the class was over and it was time to pack up. Standing up, smoothing down the hem of her dress she turned to Greg and Nix. The Nix ruffled her hair, making Cyren pout while Greg awkwardly hung back. "Just because you two are freakishly tall does not give you hair privileges." Cyren grumbled, though her amusement clear to both of the twins. "See you in abilities." They called, their voices oddly in unison. They were nice kids, but sometimes the whole twin thing freaked her out. "See you later!" She called, hurrying towards the front. As she passed Finn, standing by the door ushering kids out she faltered momentarily before murmuring "Right, I'll see you in abilities." Science sucked. It normally did. Marlee did her best to help Cyren out but she was pretty lost. Chemistry was horrible, and would be the death of the small Hellhound. To make matters worse, Ms. Burwick taught the class.

And of all the staff that Cyren had, the witch seemed to have it out for Cyren. It sucked, and Cyren would of been all to glad to skip her class or transfer to a different one but didn't want to leave Marlee alone as the teacher disliked the fae just as much. Cyren figured it had to do something with Thomas. Today however, the fae didn't seem bothered by the cold glare the two were receiving at the lab. In fact, Marlee still had that glow on her face as they copied their notes down, and then grouped up for the worksheet. Cyren- quite curious, bit back her question. If Marlee wanted to talk about why she was in a good mood- she would. Cyren wouldn't push her. The lab work wasn't too hard, just mixing different thing with different acidic levels and testing them out on the litmus and writing down the reaction. Of course Burwick found something to nitpick about; but neither girl paid much attention. Math was slow, torturous even, as the girls suffered through a long lecture about transversal, interior and exterior angles, and other such things. Cyren kind of wanted to gouge her eyes out. She made several under her breath comments about it all, at one point threatening to set off the fire alarms- though there was no real intent behind her words. Thankfully, Mr. Scully was about a thousand years old and pretty much deaf as a monitor lizard.

When math was finally over, Cyren knew she just had to get through history- which wasn't as bad as the last two classes. Daniel gave her a topic to study, answer questions on for the class. Her event was about the forming of the supernatural government, which was responsibility for keeping breeds safe, out of human eyes, and offering communities and havens for supernatural creatures. Also the same government that was fighting to stay in control. She thought it was Daniel's attempts to make her feel better, because the more she read the chapter on her event, it became clear this was far from the first threat that they had faced. Daniel was quiet, easygoing with the students and even dismissed them ten minutes early ahead of the other classes to go; since they had all pretty much finished the work anyway. It was odd, and Cyren narrowed her eyes. Jesus whatever happy pill he and Marlee were taking she wanted in on. Oh if only she knew, she would not want in. As she packed up, Cyren glanced towards the window letting a beam of the artificial sunlight spill on her face. The witches had spelled the windows so it looked like sunlight was streaming in; even though it was pitch black outside. Vampires weren't hurt by this kind of light, and the species that thrived in the sun had their fix.

Getting to abilities early along with about seventy percent of her class, Cyren was quick to pick out a spot to wait for other kids to come in. She sat in her corner of the gym, leaned against the wall with her headphones on and eyes closed. Her music cancelled out the rest of the students noise, and even the bell when it rang. She was halfway through a song called HeavyDirtySoul when she felt a shadow fall across her. Hurriedly scrambling to take off her headphones Cyren's gaze traveled up to find Finn. "Class is starting." He stated and held out his hand to help her up. Switching her phone off, leaving it near her bag she grabbed his hand, allowing him to pull her up. She stumbled, pretty much banging her shoulder into him by accident though she offered an apologetic frown. "Sorry about that. What do you want me to do?" The heavy tension that had settled over the gym yesterday was gone- replaced by eager chatter of the Equinox dance in three weeks. Cyren had completely forgotten. That would mean the next three weeks kids could go out into the town and shop for dresses. Most kids had an allowance, and Cyren had one as well. She also had a hefty inheritance that she kept very low-key. Her parents hadn't left her in rags, and that's about as much as she liked to think on the manner. It was a means to survive and one of the few ties she had to her family. Clearing her throat realizing Finn had directed her to do... Something the petite brunette looked up with an air of embarrassment. "Er... Sorry will you repeat that?"

He had finished the notes, already determining who would be a good student this year when he heard a familiar "Morning." Glancing up he fixed Finn with a grin, and sounding more awake and warm than he normally did returned his greeting. He returned to his work as Finn sat down across from him, not speaking much. When it was ten minutes to class Daniel got up and nodded towards Finn. "Good luck dealing with Nielsen man." It was pretty light though. He knew that Cyren wasn't a pain for Finn, and even if she was he had the notion that Finn didn't mind all too much. It was amusing to see that Cyren had actually met her match. Her dry humor, wit, and troublesome ways didn't seem to ruffle his feathers. Rather scales. Daniel was still curious to see how she'd react about that. Brushing it off the vampire left he staff room, holding a couple blood packets in his hand. Today was the day the real work began, and he knew that some of his students would be assholes about it. As much as that normally would of been exasperated with the thought, Daniel found himself just brushing it off. "Their grades." He figured, and as he approached his room shifted the blood bags so he could open the door. Flicking on the lights he set up, getting ready for the day.

Kids began coming in a few minutes before the bell rang, Marlee among them. He had to remind himself not to let that stupid grin touch his face when their gazes met. Instead he offered her a dry, professional smile before turning greeting a couple other students who came in. When the bell rang and the last f his class scurried in, Daniel stood up clearing his throat to gain their attention. "Alright, time for taking it easy is over. We're gonna start on our real course work now. Today we'll be starting with events that have taken place in our modern history. Human and supernatural. Each of you are to become experts on your topic, pretty much just answer your worksheets, put it into a presentation and at the end of the month you'll be educating the class about your specific event. After that for a paper you will pick one event and write about how either your event affected it, or it affected your event. Clear?" A few groans broke out around the classroom and Daniel just chuckled. "Come on guys, it's not that bad. You can use poster board or powerpoint presentation at the end I don't care. Alright? Now let's get to work." A few kids stared up at him wide-eyed clearly confused about why he was in such a good mood. He ignored them, passing out paperwork to the students. As he reached Marlee he gave her a quick smile; nothing out of the ordinary.

As the kids set to work he sat on his laptop doing "work" pretty much just playing some games he had downloaded while people set to work. A few kids had come up to him with questions over the class and he was quick to point out the direction they should go with the project. "Do you think he's sick?" He overheard one kid whisper, to which a student snorted. "He's a vampire dumbass. They don't get sick." Normally he would of cut in, warned them about language and to get back to work though today he ignored them. It was a relatively peaceful environment, that class; so he was a little remorseful when the bell rang. Kids began packing up, handing him their papers for safekeeping and leaving. As Marlee passed, she gave him this small smile and bade, "Goodbye Professor Roberts." There were still a few other kids in the room so he could exactly kiss her goodbye, or voice the fact that Daniel though she looked lovely so instead he just nodded with a gentle tone, "Alright, I'll see you around Marlee. Take it easy." And like that his day continued. Kids gave him their usual gripe about starting real schoolwork though Daniel found it was mostly alright. Some kids worked harder than others and he could already pick out the ones who either wouldn't finish the project or the ones who would be scrambling to do so.

The next three periods pretty much dragged on, and Cyren was pretty quiet that day herself. She made no cheeky remarks; just put her headphones on and did her work. She seemed lost in her own world and so Dan just let her be. Besides if she was distracted the less likely it was she was going to pick up on his new relationship with her best friend. So Daniel just let her be. Her class was a little more work focused, and they had all managed to do the assigned questions before class got over. Not wanting them to get ahead and ruin the lesson plan Daniel released them all a little early. Most of the class was going to abilities and the ones that weren't were going to art or music- so he figured it'd be fine. As his class got to the empty gym, they began dispersing in their own little groups and cliques. Daniel was going to find Cyren and sit down with her but she looked very content leaning against the wall with music playing. It was a pretty relaxed day though a lot of the girls were already whispering about the dance that was coming up. He'd be one of the staff there and he wasn't looking forward to it. Something always happened. From pot being found on students, the ones that could be affected by it, to spiking the punch or a fight- they were never dull. They were there for about eight minutes before more students came in, a few staff and by the time the second bell rang everyone was there. His own students were huddled together talking under their breaths about some new bit of gossip he couldn't care less about. Turning to his students Daniel cleared his throat. "Let's get started. You could use more work on your sparring, so we'll be doing that this period." He directed, getting ready for a long session ahead of him.

Seeing the Hellhound sitting so closely to Greg bothered him, he knew why but he wasn’t ready to admit the reason. He could feel the feelings he held for Cyren growing, he was doing his best in pushing them do so nothing would happen or slip out. But the more time they spent together, the more his feelings grew for her. He ignored them as he continued on teaching his class until the bell rang, "Right, I'll see you in abilities." Cyren spoke to him as she was leaving his class room and he bid her a goodbye although they would be seeing each other in a couple of hours, the rest of the day dragged on and even the class with Marlee dragged on for him. He had given each class a different book to read as he didn’t want all the students working together on the work that he was giving out, he sat at his class as he picked people to read parts of the book although he gave Marlee a break and didn’t ask her to read. He handed out the essay questions and allowed time in class for the students to begin, so he sat at his desk and did a little bit of work on his laptop for future classes and that took him up until the bell rang.

Now the only class he had was abilities and extra training with Cyren, if she was up for it. He wasn’t sure yet if she wanted extra training every day or a few days a week, it was really up to her considering she was the one who had to learn. So he watched as his class rushed out into the hallway, a small grin gracing his face as his students hadn’t really given him any grief about starting the real work. He took his time in packing up his laptop and other belongings before he headed over to the gym, Daniel’s class were surprisingly already there so he set his briefcase down in a corner that no one used and waited for the rest of his group to arrive before he begun. He set out tasks for his group before stepping over to where Cyren was sitting, “Class is starting.” He told her and offered her his hand so he could help her up onto her feet, although as he pulled her up her body bumped into his shoulder. "Sorry about that. What do you want me to do?" Cyren apologized with a frown settling on her pretty face, “Not a problem. I still want to work with your control, but today I want to see if you can control a flame on each hand at the same time.” Finn explained to her although she didn’t seem to be listening to what he was saying, "Er... Sorry will you repeat that?" Cyren breathed out with a slight hint of embarrassment in her musical voice, he chuckled softly as he repeated the task that he had given her.

This task would be challenging for Cyren but he knew that she would be alright with it, maybe not at first but she would get it eventually. So far they had only worked on Cyren controlling one flame at a time, Finn knew she was ready for this and if she wasn’t then it would be something they could work on in their extra practice sessions. So he walked back over to where his group were practicing and checked on them, he helped each group while the small brunette could get herself ready and get prepared. He knew better than to push her, if she was worried about controlling two flames then he would work up to it. But she would still know what he was expecting from her in the next few sessions, “If you don’t think you’re ready then we can work on one flame.” He glanced over at the Hellhound when the rest of his group were too busy with their own tasks, so they weren’t listening to what he was saying to Cyren. He really didn’t mind what she worked on, as long as she was controlling a flame then it was fine with him because she was still going to be learning.
    Marlee Hudson | Fairy
    Image

Marlee continued on with her classes during the day and sent Professor Huxley a smile as she walked into the English classroom, she pulled out the book that they were going to read and work from. She wanted to thank him for helping Cyren but she wasn’t sure how to go about it, if she should just go up to him and thank him or if she should do something else. But it meant a lot to Cyren and in turn it meant so much to Marlee, they weren’t exactly popular or liked among most Professor’s. So for Huxley to take such an interest in Cyren, then it was worth her wanting to thank him. She worked on the essay questions until the bell rang, she packed up her books and walked from the class. She made a bee line to the gym and arrived within minutes, she smiled when she saw Cyren sitting on the floor listening to her music. She didn’t want to interrupt her as class would be starting shortly, so she walked over to where the other fairies were standing and waited for the Headmaster to arrive.

Once he had then the work really begun, each fairy worked more on their magic and how to control it for a longer time without getting worn out. Marlee was completely focused on her magic that she hadn’t noticed that the other fae had stopped from becoming too tired, she was focused on growing her magic and becoming more powerful. The Hudson family were known for power and Marlee wanted to have that, she wanted to make her family proud of her and she wanted to always be able to protect herself if anything happened again. Her eyes watched as her silvery magic flowed from her hands and sparkled in her eyes, some of her magic floated into the air and some even touched the high gym ceiling. She nearly missed the Headmaster telling her that she was doing a wonderful job before he moved on to help the other fairies, Marlee was too occupied by watching her magic but a movement in the gym did capture her attention from the corner of her eye. Turning her head she noticed the Daniel was busy helping two young vampires with their sparring, his back was turned to the rest of his group. A frown appeared between her brows as she watched two vampires, Mack and Vin, were sparring each other and Marlee knew how cocky they could be when they were around each other.

She didn’t really have much to do with either of the vampires, but she did have some classes with them both and they could act out a lot. She seemed to be the only one watching them as they begun to move around the gym as they sparred, they didn’t appear to realise how close they were getting to Professor Huxley’s group. Not only was Cyren using her fire but so were the Draconian twins, she wasn’t sure what she should do as Daniel was busy and so was the Headmaster. So she continued to watch the two vampires, hoping they would stop or head back towards their own group. But they weren’t, “Professor Roberts.” Marlee called out in hopes of gaining his attention which she did but not in enough time, automatically her hands raised out in front of her. Her silver magic shot through the air and completely engulfed Mack and Vin, they were suddenly taken off their feet and floated in the air. Shock was plastered across Marlee’s face as she had never done anything like this before, she had never lifted someone with her magic before but now she was holding two boys off the ground.

“I didn’t mean to… they were heading towards Ren and Greg and Nix,” Marlee panicked a little as students weren’t allowed to use their gifts on other students, she didn’t want to get into trouble. She jumped a little when she felt a hand rest on her shoulder, “It’s alright Marlee. You did the right thing, just lower them slowly. You were very brave,” The Headmaster’s calm voice entered her ears and soothed away any nerves that she was feeling, she could feel eyes on her but managed to lower her arms which moved the boys closer to the ground. However she pulled her magic back too soon and she accidently let the two vampires drop to the floor, although it wasn’t enough to hurt them. Biting down onto her bottom lip as both Mack and Vin grumbled a thanks at her, they were either annoyed at her or embarrassed that they needed to be helped by a fae.

(Sorry it's on the shorter side.)

For a moment a small look of trepidation tainted her gaze, though Cyren shook it off. "Two flames. You got it boss." She had made progress but two flames? Catching her lip gently between her teeth Cyren exhaled softly before holding both her hands up. She had noted Greg and Nix watching, and if nothing else she was stubborn and proud. "I can do it professor." She mumbled, a small flame already flickering to life on her right palm, and she waited until it grew a little bigger before focusing on her left hand. Almost at once a blue flame exploded onto her hand quickly engulfing her arm. "Oh dear." Cyren muttered resisting the urge to shake her arm as that never helped. She was hardly aware of anyone else, though scooted away from Finn and towards the Draconian in fear of burning him. Well- technically she had no idea what he was. For all she knew, Finn was as flame resistant as she was; but figured she wouldn't try it out. The flame at some points simmered up to a white flame, though would cool back to a blue one as she tried to get the fire under control. However, she found the fire was hard to control and even harder to get to stay. After a couple minutes of the fire roaring on her arm, it sputtered out as abruptly as it had begun. Cyren was completely befuddled.

Her right side had always been hard to conjure, but not too hard to get under control. It had restraint- as much as a fire could. Staring down with a puzzled expression Cyren glanced at Finn for an explanation. "Left brain Cyren. Emotional side." Her answer didn't come from the professor rather Nix who was suppressing a grin. "Be as calm as possible." Finn added, turning back towards her. "Right, unless you're flame-proof you probably shouldn't come any closer." Cyren warned, to Finn but also the group. The Nephillim of the group, working on her teleportation, and had gotten a little too close for Cyren's liking. "Be calm." She thought to herself and recalling the right-handed flame exhaled before summoning the other hand. It yielded the same results as before. Most of the class she was focusing on learning to control the new flame, listening to Finn's advice, and trading back playful insults with Nix and sometimes Greg; though the boy played more referee. It was fun, the best abilities class that Cyren had in awhile. The tension and fear that stiffed the room yesterday was gone. Instead excited chatter between friends. Every so often she'd check on Marlee, and to Cyren's relief saw that her friend was doing quite well. While the other kids in Marlee's group were chattering, half-paying attention to what Headmaster Garret was teaching.

All was going well, or so she thought. There was about twenty minutes left of class and all the groups seemed to be relatively well behaved. She still didn't have much luck with controlling the second flame, though Cyren was just thankful she hadn't burned anything down. As she stood, a little bits away from the rest of the group, eyes down on her flame she was totally unaware of the vampire's fooling around getting out of hand and dangerously close to her. Not until she heard Marlee's voice ringing high and clear above the normal din did Cyren turn around; freezing. Vin and Mack, a couple kids from her history class, had gotten their wrestling match a little too close to their corner. Cyren's left arm was still flaming it's dark blue lure, which was troublesome. Vampires were killed by being staked, or being set on fire. Ash to ash and all that. Unfortunately if Cyren stepped to the side to avoid them she would end up bumping into a hybrid in her class she knew for a fact was not flame proof. Panicking, she decided to do the least damage possible; and shielding her face turned her back. If they knocked into her, it would likely break most bones on impact. Which would be a bitch and incredibly painful but she would heal. Squeezing her eyes shut Cyren shuddered waiting for impact though after a few moments and nothing came she turned around cautiously.

From the far side of the gym stood Marlee, silver enveloping her hands, suspending the two vampires above their heads. The fae looked shocked, while Cyren after getting over her initial panic, began to grin. It looked like Marlee was learning new applications for her magic and it had just saved Cyren and incredibly agonizing trip to the nurse. And possibly two vampires from getting barbecued. Garret was quick to take control of the situation which was for the best. Marlee looked pretty freaked out. It was a little satisfying to see her pull back the magic a little too early and hear them Thunk! to the floor. Oughta teach them a lesson. Daniel looked pissed, and worried all at once and he wasted no time in crouching down next to the boys checking them over for injuries. When he found none he ordered them to thank Marlee, and apologize to Finn's group. Neither were too happy and after mumbling an apology turned to the abilities group. "Sorry." Mack grumbled while Vince echoed him. Raising an eyebrow she scoffed crossing her arms. "Hey, if you're gonna act so pissy about it- next time we'll just let you bowl over into the middle of a bunch of flame-types huh? Maybe breaking some bones of your classmates and burning to a crisp will teach you manners."

The two boys looked a little abashed and she jerked her chin towards Marlee. "Go on. You heard Roberts apologize. For real this time." While she was amused with Marlee- Cyren was furious with these two. Squirming under her gaze as it flared ruby- the blue bleeding out the turned to Marlee and apologized with a tone that was much more sincere. "Thank you Marlee. We really owe you one." The Hellhound was aware of the disapproving stares of most the staff, though Daniel looked amused. They then turned back to Cyren and lowering their heads a little in submission added, "Sorry we should of been paying more attention." Satisfied the Hellhound made a noncommittal humming noise and turned back to her own group. She was still kind of miffed and her eyes were still glowing with their sangria reds. Exhaling loudly she turned to the two Draconian twins. "Alright?" They nodded looking more than a little surprised at what had happened. The rest of Cyren's ten minutes she just worked on calming down. Slowly her eyes faded back to their normal oceanic blues, and the nails which had elongated to claws much like the wolves had, retracted to her normal, human looking nails. "You really could of hurt someone." Her mind whispered making her feel a little guilty. Finn had warned her before to be careful when practicing.

She was aware of the power she contained in her small body. Hopefully the vampires did as well and wouldn't start fucking around anymore in abilities. Or at least not where someone could get hurt. When the bell rang, and staff began letting their kids grab their shit and get ready Cyren paused for a moment waiting for Marlee to come over. Once Marlee had jogged over Cyren offered a wide grin. "That, was awesome. I would be in the infirmary now if wasn't for you. Or they would be dead." Marlee blushed and glanced down though Cyren continued. "Next time though, drop them a little higher. Who knows if you hit their heads hard enough it may stimulate some mental thought process." Leaning down, throwing her backpack haphazardly over one shoulder she added, "Wanna go out this weekend? Poke around the town for some dresses?" The kids were allowed out usually once a month to go into town and shop around. Most of the town was a supernatural community anyway, and for those that weren't knew of the "Elite Boarding School". Just not it's supernatural aspect. "Figured that going would be better than sitting around and moping in our room honestly. You know take our minds off everything that's been going on." Cyren explained in a soft voice as the duo began to head towards the lunchroom.

It was difficult, keeping his attention on his own class and not Marlee. Of course, every so often when his students were occupied he'd let his rust colored gaze slide over to the fairy. And he was impressed. While Cyren seemed to lag behind in her abilities, though he had noted both flames on her hands and one blue so that was an improvement, Marlee had always been on target or ahead. Today was no different. If anything there was a renewed sense of determination in the way she went about her magic. It was obvious there was more power and control behind her movements. No one caught him sneaking glances at the fae, which he was absolutely lucky for. What wasn't so lucky was the fact that Daniel was completely distracted by having her near him. The vampire wanted to just wrap his arms around her and offer her the few pointers and tips he'd gotten over the years from the few fae he knew. Daniel however, refrained. He stayed with his own group, offering pointers about how to better defend ones self about hunters or other threats. Vampires were like the rabbits of the supernatural world. Never a shortage. Which meant that Vampire's were the ones that usually fell to hunters. And Daniel had to prepare those kids to take care of themselves. Of course the best offense was a good defense; thus why they had stressed blood-lust and self-control to the kids since day one.

Hopefully, they managed to get by on their own, once they graduated. Sighing Daniel walked around, straightening stances and showing them how to punch without killing someone, unless needed. Callum was overseeing them, pitching in when he could demonstrating what they were supposed to be doing with Daniel. Though neither staff missed the buzz of excitement in the air. Friday's were normally hard, but with the staff taking students out, at leas the seniors and juniors, freshmen and sophomore would go Sunday. And tomorrow the senior girls going to the equinox dance, of which he had gotten roped into staffing again would start looking for dresses. Once the kids began getting the moves on their own Daniel began pairing them. "August and Michael, Vin and Mack- No goofing off! Marie and Georgia..." Ticking off names Daniel didn't particularly like the looks Vin and Mack were exchanging, shit-eating grins really, though he ignored it in hopes they could conduct themselves with some ounce of self control. This just left Daniel to help the groups that were fighting with one another; making sure it was the moves and nothing developed into an actual brawl. He had been giving August and Michael some tips when Vin and Michael began getting out of control.

Daniel, and Callum however didn't notice until he heard a very familiar voice calling out his name. "Professor Roberts!" He turned, his gaze seeking out Marlee. Brows furrowing together he was about to ask what was wrong when she flung her hands out, her silver magic sparkling from her tips. "Marlee?" He asked, slowly turning his head found Vin and Mack hovering pretty much above Finn's group. It then clicked. They were roughhousing, goofing off, and had gotten too close to Cyren and the Draconian twins. Cyren had her back turned arms over her head. It was clear she'd rather let them collide into her, seriously injuring the Hellhound, rather than risk burning her classmates. Feeling the color drain from his face Daniel realized how close this had been to being a dangerous situation. Before he could go and direct Marlee, Garret took control of the situation and once the two boys were on the ground safely, Daniel wasted no time in hurrying over and crouching by their sides. "Are you hurt? Let me see." Daniel demanded, and both boys shook their heads. "Then what the hell were you thinking?! How many times have I stressed that fire is deadly- especially to us! You could of been set aflame, or seriously hurt anyone in that group! What were you thinking?" Daniel's fretting mother mode pushed it's way up as both boys shifted.

"We're sorry professor. We were just playing." Mumbled Vin while Mack averted his gaze. Biting back a growl he pointed stiffly towards Marlee and then to Cyren. "Thank Marlee for saving your hides, and apologize to Cyren for nearly seriously hurting her." The two boys exchanged an expression of guilt and mortification as the gym had fallen deadly silent. They did thank Marlee in a voice that was rather insincere. About to cut in Daniel glanced up as Cyren started lecturing them; her gaze a bright currant color. It was odd to see the shift in her appearance, fangs protruding and claws elongated- almost invoking fear in Daniel. Vin and Mack certainly looked cowed and they thanked Marlee in a more heart-felt voice. After that was squared away, class went on and people began resuming their actives; save for Cyren who was calming herself down before class ended- probably a wise idea. When class finally ended, Callum having given the two boys a detention, Daniel watched as his class packed up. When they were done, heading towards the dinning hall; Daniel took the opportunity to catch up to Marlee and Cyren in the now near empty gym. His sensitive ears caught her agreeing to go out with Cyren for the weekend, and he grinned. Hopefully she would be going to the equinox dance, and even if he couldn't dance with her- at least she would be out of her dorm for a night. Once she finished answering Cyren Daniel cut in, clearing his throat. "Have a minute?" His mocha colored orbs fell onto Marlee as he kept his face as normal as possible so the Hellhound wouldn't get suspicious.

Finn had a feeling that giving Cyren the task of controlling two flames at once, would probably end with her losing control of her fire. Which is the only reason he stayed back at a safe distance for him to be at, just in case her flames surrounded her body. He wasn’t fire proof and he didn’t want to get hurt because he was standing too close to the Hellhound, and he had done the right thing as he kept an eye on Cyren as she was trying to control her flames but it wasn’t going that well for her. He had opened his mouth to tell Cyren that she needed to stay calm, but it seemed he wasn’t the only one in the group that was checking on the small brunette as it was Nix who mentioned that Cyren was using her left side of the brain which was the emotional side. It was true so he mentioned to the Hellhound that she needed to calm down, which was harder than it sounded especially if Cyren begun to freak out or panic. If that happened then Finn would need something to stop her fire and distract her, he hoped it didn’t come to that and he feared that he was moving much too quickly for her.

As the class continued he would give Cyren little tips and tricks that she could try, from learning control to how to stay calm. He gave out those types of tips to all of his group as he couldn’t play favourites, even if he did like Cyren more than all his other students. Which wasn’t something he was going to begin telling people, it wasn’t fair on anyone if he did have favourite students but he wasn’t in the position to stop how he felt about the brunette with the big eyes that simply just drew him in further. He had gotten occupied with Greg and Nix as he thought Cyren was going to be fine for a few minutes while he helped the rest of the group, and she was until he heard the clear voice of the blonde fairy calling for Daniel. Which he thought was strange as Daniel had nothing to do with the fae group, turning his head to look over his shoulder his eyes didn’t even reach the fairy. His eyes were instantly drawn to whatever was wrong inside the gym, which happened to be two young vampires mucking around and were making their way dangerously close to where Cyren was standing. Her eyes were squeezed shut and her back was facing the two vampires, she had curled her body forward as she waited for an impact which wouldn’t end well for any of the students.

However, Finn didn’t have any time to react when Mack and Vin were suddenly lifted into the air seconds before they collided with the Hellhound. Rage quickly filled his body as he knew what would have happened if Marlee hadn’t used her magic and saved the day, either Cyren would have ended up seriously injured in the nurse ward or there would be two dead ashy students that the Headmaster would have to deal with. "Hey, if you're gonna act so pissy about it- next time we'll just let you bowl over into the middle of a bunch of flame-types huh? Maybe breaking some bones of your classmates and burning to a crisp will teach you manners." Cyren voiced her anger and no one would be able to blame her, Mack and Vin had acted like idiots and had obviously not listened to what Daniel had instructed them to do for the class. But what pissed Finn of the most was that Cyren could have been hurt again, this time it would have been out of her control and that made Finn furious. He wanted to burst with anger but instead he held it all inside of him, he realised that his hands had balled into fists so as he exhaled slowly he also relaxed his hands.

Finn didn’t bother listening to Mack and Vin apologise because he honestly didn’t care for it, besides Daniel was taking care of the students under his care and he turned to face his own group. He continued with helping them while he allowed Cyren to do whatever she wanted, he would check on her later and make sure that she was okay. But if she wanted to keep going with her control then she could but if she wanted to try and calm down then he was fine with that as well, she deserved a break after all. When the bell rang he dismissed his students and stood there in the gym watching as all the students rushed out through the doors quickly, they were most likely starving and wanted to reach the cafeteria before all the food was gone. Glancing over, Finn noticed that Cyren still hadn’t completely calmed herself down but was now with Marlee and that seemed to be making her feel better. He gathered his belongings and was heading out when he saw Daniel pull the fae aside, which left the Hellhound on her own so he stepped over to her. “You alright? Sorry that I didn’t see them,” He felt like he needed to apologize, she was his student and under his care. He should have been keeping an eye on her at the time, but he wasn’t and it would have been his fault if anything happened to her.

"That was awesome. I would be in the infirmary now if wasn't for you. Or they would be dead." Cyren spoke once the class had ended and the students were free to go, Marlee headed straight over to her best friend as she was still shaken from what had happened. Cyren could have so easily needed to visit the nurse and that is one thing that Marlee feared, a pink blush tinted her cheeks as she glanced down. She didn’t think what she did had been that good, "Next time though, drop them a little higher. Who knows if you hit their heads hard enough it may stimulate some mental thought process." Marlee looked beside her at Cyren and shook her head, “I couldn’t do that. Besides dropping them was an accident,” Marlee explained herself even if Cyren did have a good point, "Wanna go out this weekend? Poke around the town for some dresses? Figured that going would be better than sitting around and moping in our room honestly. You know take our minds off everything that's been going on." The brunette suggested and Marlee couldn’t think of anything better, she enjoyed getting away from the school when they were allowed. But now that she had a special someone in her life, she did think about it for a few seconds before she agreed.

“That would be great, it’ll be exactly what we need. Besides if you plan of going to the dance with Greg, than we have to find you the perfect dress.” She grinned cheekily as she loved to tease Cyren about Greg, it was obvious that he held a huge crush for the Hellhound and Marlee didn’t understand why Cyren hadn’t let him more into her life and into her heart. He was cute and he was smart, he seemed to get along with most people and he was a sweetheart. Marlee only wanted to go to the dance with one person, which was never going to happen but she was pretty sure that he had been asked to attend to keep the students in line. So technically Daniel would still be at the dance and that would have to be enough for now, “I can go on my own if you did want to go with a date.” Marlee couldn’t stop smiling, a dance wasn’t a place that Cyren would willingly attend but Marlee wanted to go and they did deserve to have some fun. However before Cyren could answer a voice interrupted them, "Have a minute?" Daniel spoke causing Marlee to stop walking also immediately, “Of course. I’ll catch up with you, save some dinner for me.” She told the Hellhound before turning so she was facing the man she wanted to pull closer to her and kiss.

“You aren’t angry or anything, right? I didn’t know what else to do, no one had seen them and they weren’t stopping. I didn’t want Ren to get hurt again,” She told him as she focused on his eyes, she wanted to throw caution into the wind and melt into a puddle right there in the gym. But she held herself together and noticed that he didn’t look angry with her, which was a good sign because she thought that she had done the right thing. She would do everything in her power to keep her best friend safe, she would do the same thing with all the people in her life that she cared about. Although right now that only included Cyren, Daniel and her Mom. Her extended family were more powerful and could take care of themselves, her Mom could as well but after her father leaving them it made Marlee even more protective of her Mom. Biting down onto her bottom lip she couldn’t take her eyes away from the vampire standing there in front of her, he was so close to her and all she wanted to do was wrap her arms around him and have him hold her.

That would either not happen or it would need to wait until she was in her new room and they could have privacy, she would always need to wait until they knew they did have privacy before either would make a move. They would need to wait until she graduated which was still a whole year away, she knew Daniel would be feeling the way she was about it. But it would be done because Marlee could feel this was the real thing, she would never see another man or want to be with someone else. She may not know what love feels like, but what she felt for Daniel was everything she has imagined love to be. He was perfect in her eyes and she wanted to make him happy, she didn’t want to live without him which would become a problem in their future as she would still keep aging when he wouldn’t. But she was willing to deal with it when they came to it, but right now she wanted nothing else but to enjoy how he was making her feel.

Delight rolled onto Cyren's face as Marlee agreed to not only go out this year for dress shopping, but to the formal Equinox dance. It would be the first time they'd go as last year neither girl felt like going out. Rolling her eyes as Marlee suggested she go with Greg the girl smirked crossing her arms. "You wouldn't date your brother and you wouldn't date Greg because it's the same thing. Besides, I'm a descendant of the Wild Hunt. I don't date." She raised an eyebrow mockingly, clearly joking about that last part. Well, she didn't date. Not people she wasn't attracted to. And since she had begun to catch feelings for a certain dark-eyed English professor... Well it wouldn't be fair to Greg. "'Sides, we both know he couldn't handle me." There was a kittenish, sultry implication in her voice as she grinned quirking an eyebrow. Between the two of them, she hadn't had sex yet- which was fine by her. She didn't want some awkward, virgin boy with whom she really felt no torrid passion with, fumbling between her legs with no idea what he was doing. The only boyfriend she'd had, a couple summers ago near the orphanage that had taken her in, they had nearly gotten there to sex; had her flames not acted up and nearly burnt his bedroom down.

"Just more reasons I can't date. Not now. Not like that." But hopefully with the sessions with Finn, by the time she was involved in a serious enough relationship, she wouldn't burn her partner's face off. Because that- would kind of suck. Jerking her head up once again as Marlee spoke she shook her head hurriedly. "Please who would I go with? You're totally my date and not getting out of it. Besides I don't like any of the boys in our grade." There was a subtle implication there, if Marlee was quick enough to catch it. She didn't like anyone in their grade. Not that she didn't like anyone at all, end of story. Before Marlee could respond, whether the comment had gone over her head or not, Daniel's voice rang out and Cyren playfully rolled her eyes. "I'm gonna start assigning time blocks for Marlee Roberts. Better have her back for dinner!" The slender brunette warned playfully, no real bite to her words. "Alright, see you in the dinning hall Marlee." She called already sauntering away. Due to the fact that she and Cyren had stood about for a bit, the hallways were pretty empty. Not a soul to be seen and the falsified sunlight streaming through the halls fell warmly on her cheek as she passed. “You alright? Sorry that I didn’t see them,”

Turning she found Finn, a bit behind her his things slung haphazardly over his shoulder and a smile bloomed on her lips. He looked somewhat distraught, as if she'd been hurt. "No, I'm fine don't worry about it. Asshats should of been looking where they were going." A false bravado colored her words and the worry on Finn's face hadn't receded. She had seen, seen the way he'd clenched his fists, how rage had wreathed his scent and pausing for a moment she reached out, picking his hand up with her smaller one and moving it so it grazed her cheek gently. Some supernatural creatures were more open to touch. If he could feel that she was okay, then perhaps he'd not be so guilty nor worked up over the incident "There see? Not a scratch, bruise, or broken bone. To be honest I was a little scared. It would of sucked to gotten hurt like that- but it's nothing I can't handle. And even if you had seen them, you would of been hurt. And I really wouldn't want that Finn. I don't want you getting hurt for me. Anyway, you already look out for me enough- I've got to learn to do it when I graduate right?" Cyren didn't know who she was trying to reassure- herself or him? Letting his hand, cool and relieving go she almost sighed with remiss as it dropped back to his side. She figured Marlee and Daniel would talk for awhile- they seemed closer than usual the past couple days but she didn't push it.

She liked the idea of them together, after all Daniel never failed to treat Marlee with respect and kindness and she had no doubt he would dote over her. Though that was probably her own wishful thinking. He was probably just trying to help the fae catch up in her classes. About to continue on her way she paused thinking of the weekend she'd planned with Marlee. "Finn." She cooed sweetly, a sugary smile touching on her lips, "I can't make practice on Saturday." Raising an eyebrow at her she continued in a much more somber and serious tone. "Well, the dance is coming up. So Marlee and I wanted to go look for dresses and stuff. I thought it might be nice to get out of the school for a few hours. Clear our heads. It's not going to be a problem right?" Sticking her bottom lip out, pouting as best she could the girl's face snapped to a victorious grin as he sighed that it should be fine- but to make up for the day she'd miss that they'd squeeze an extra abilities session in after dinner. Squealing she threw her arms around his neck, though pulled back quickly. "Your the best! Thank you! Thank you! I'll be really good!"

Her bright eyes shimmered with a sense of gratefulness as she pulled back, and it was then she realized she'd hugged Finn. His cheeks held a delicate blush which rendered him pretty cute. She considered apologizing for her impulsiveness though just waved it off. She doubted the teacher who'd sit down in her bed until she fell asleep would give her a detention for hugging him. If she was honest she wanted to wrap her arms around him again, face nestled on the crook of his shoulder breathing in that scent which brought mystery and calm. But she didn't want to press her luck. And to be honest she kind of hoped that he'd be around Saturday too. Just in case something happened. "Hey, speaking of the dance are you chaperoning?" The question was poised innocently enough, but gods did she hope he was. Even though she was pretty sure that whatever attraction she felt was one-sided, Cyren wouldn't mind seeing him gussied up and in a tux. And hey, if Marlee got swept off her feet by some strapping lad; Finn could always entertain her. After he was finished about whether or not he was going to go, Cyren shrugged and crooked her head slightly. "I gotta get going to the dinning hall. If you're heading that way wanna walk together?" Pausing she grinned a feral thing before tacking on, "You're gonna be so sick of my face by the end of the year. All the professors are."

He knew it would be tough dating Marlee and not letting other's on. But as they stood in the gym as people emptied it out, it was maddening to not reach out and press a gentle kiss to her lips; to assure her that she did a great thing today. Instead he just raised an eyebrow at Cyren and taunted, "Well, I'm just the preferred person 'Ren." Cyren growled in a playful manner, warning him not to "press his luck" before heading out; Finn not far behind. God those two were like magnets. Some sort of instinctual attraction which had them constantly gravitating towards one another. It would be interesting to see how this played out. Would Cyren be as bold and confident as always and pursue Finn? And was Finn the kind of man who could overlook social norms and customs to admit that there was something there? Or would neither say nothing? In either case he'd be keeping an eye on Cyren for Marlee's sake. All it took was one slip up and Cyren or Finn could end up physically pretty hurt or dead.

But he guessed neither was quite aware what was happening between them and Daniel just kept his mouth shut turning back to Marlee. Before he could speak she began talking with a rushed apologetic tone to which he furrowed his brows together with confusion. “You aren’t angry or anything, right? I didn’t know what else to do, no one had seen them and they weren’t stopping. I didn’t want Ren to get hurt again." She was speaking so quickly that Daniel bit back a smile. God she was adorable. Casting a glance around the new empty room he leaned forward pecking her forehead with his lips before pulling back. "God no I'm not mad at you. And I promise you that was really quick thinking- without you there could of been some serious injuries. You were brilliant Marlee. What I wanted to do was thank you. I think my teaching position would of been questioned if I ended up with two dead kids in a class." It was true, the Headmaster probably wouldn't be pleased with him if an accident that big had happened under his watch. And he would feel terrible. It was his job to watch out for his kids and he'd nearly made a mistake that may of proved to be fatal. "You're getting pretty good at your fairy powers." He murmured.

Again he wanted to pull her against him and feel her heartbeat, beating where his should of. But he'd already pressed his luck by kissing her forehead, and didn't want to push any further. "Hey, if you're not busy with Cyren tonight do you want to watch some movies? Or if you need help with some work. Though I think we both know that maths isn't my strongest." There was a gentle teasing to his voice as smiled down at the dainty fairy. Listening to her answer he nodded thrilled to be spending more one-to-one time with her. Daniel knew that when he was alone with her was going to be his favorite part of the day. The last woman he'd been involved with, Tanya, had been a relationship born of a hatred for their shared maker and when they'd killed him had quickly dissolved- for Daniel at any rate. With Marlee, it was nothing like that. There was an honest connection there, a goodness he hadn't felt in a very long time. Knowing that it was getting later and she was missing out on lunch unless she wanted blood packs he really had no food for her in his Daniel nodded towards the dinning hall. "I'll walk you to dinner, and I'll see you after okay?" Warm, rusted eyes watched her as she nodded and reaching out he gently tucked a strand of hair behind her ears.

He couldn't get enough of this. Just wanting simple fleeting little touches and kisses. Just to be near her was enough for Daniel. Together they headed out of the room, close but never touching Daniel holding himself in a straight, strict manner. One that spoke to the professionalism feigned between the pair. Inside he was jumpy, wanting to just head to his room now and clean the already meticulous and nearly impersonal place. But he didn't. "So I hear you're going to the dance?" There was a small smile, tugging the corner of his mouth upwards. She would be beautiful, that much he was sure. Being at dances like that, with their old timey feel always brought nostalgia to Daniel. "I guess you already know I'll be chaperoning." He wanted to tell her to reserve a dance for him; but that would be too inappropriate. But he wasn't bothered. He knew they would have their chance for many dances and parties; she just had to graduate first. Too soon they were in front of the dining hall's great oak doors and the din of students could already be heard. "I'll see you later Marlee. Thank you for stepping in today it was a great help." The professionalism came creeping back into his voice just in case there were listening ears about. With that he ducked his head and turned towards the staff room, throat burning and in need of blood.

It wasn’t hard for Finn to catch up to the young Hellhound, she had talked with her friend for a bit in which all the other students had gotten into the dining hall for something to eat. He was glad that the halls were empty because he wanted to speak with Cyren in private, he would feel horrible about what happened for a while even if Cyren hadn’t been hurt. Because all he could imagine was her getting hurt when he was meant to be watching over her, but for every teacher it would always be a struggle to keep an eye on every single student that they had in their care. His abilities group wasn’t overly large, but when a student needed his help then it was his duty to help them until they were more comfortable with the task. Which meant he couldn’t watch over his other students, but he had never thought something like this would happen when he was around. But at least how he knew that accidents can happen at any given time, he would just need to be more alert from now on.

"No, I'm fine don't worry about it. Asshats should of been looking where they were going." The small brunette spoke once he had gotten closer to her and he had apologized, her words still didn’t make him feel any better about the situation. It must have been clear on his face how much worry was still flowing through his body, because out of nowhere Cyren had taken his large hand with her’s and gently placed his palm over her cheek. Her warm skin sent sparks through his fingers and along his arm, he tried to keep that a secret as he didn’t want to ruin the friendship that was growing between him and the Hellhound. "There see? Not a scratch, bruise, or broken bone. To be honest I was a little scared. It would of sucked to gotten hurt like that- but it's nothing I can't handle. And even if you had seen them, you would of been hurt. And I really wouldn't want that Finn. I don't want you getting hurt for me. Anyway, you already look out for me enough- I've got to learn to do it when I graduate right?" Cyren spoke quietly as they weren’t standing that far apart anymore, even though Finn could feel that she was completely fine, he still couldn’t help but feel like he had let her down. Something inside of him suddenly took control and he found himself lightly stroking Cyren’s soft cheek with his thumb, it wasn’t an innocent touch but it was a tender one and instead of Finn feeling ashamed for touching a student. It felt right to him, like that is where he belonged and needed to be.

“I would have healed if I had gotten hurt, I will always put myself before you… and the other students.” He quickly added on the last part, although he wasn’t sure if that was a lie or not. Being a teacher he wanted to say he would protect all the students, even if it meant he was harmed or even died. But he wasn’t actually sure, all he knew was that he would do everything to keep Cyren safe and unharmed. However he wasn’t sure if he would have healed if the two young vampires had connected with him, but Cyren didn’t need to know about that. He felt his hand drop back down to his side but his strong gaze never moved from the brunette Hellhound, “You still have a year until you graduate. You have time to learn and until you leave this school, I’m going to look out for you.” His voice held a promise that he would make sure he kept, nothing would keep him from keeping his promise because Cyren needed someone there to watch over her. Then her voice turned sugary sweet and he knew she wanted something from him, his eyebrow raised when she told him that she had made plans with Marlee on the weekend.

“I guess you can miss one class, but you will make up for it after dinner.” Of course he would give the student a day off, the dance was coming up after all and he was glad that Cyren had decided to attend the dance. He couldn’t wait to see what dress she wears and how her long hair would be done, she was always beautiful but he knew she would take his breath away on that night. Her squeal pierced his ears as she threw her arms around his neck and hugged him, he was shocked and he kicked himself for it. Because he hadn’t gotten the chance to wrap her up in his own arms, she had pulled back far too quickly for him to return the gesture. She thanked him as they continued walking through the still empty halls of the school, they were nearing the student dining hall and he had the urge to turn Cyren in a different direction so they could be alone for a little while longer. "Hey, speaking of the dance are you chaperoning?" The brunette asked causing him to glance down at her, it had been brought up the day the Headmaster showed him around the school and offered him the job. Well it wasn’t actually brought up, it had been something that Finn would need to do at least in his first year being a Professor there.

“Actually I will be chaperoning, the Headmaster made sure that I knew that I would need to.” He wasn’t sure how he felt about attending the dance just to keep an eye on the students, he hoped it wouldn’t be horrible for him to experience as he remembered attending dances on his own. Although he wasn’t a dancing type, mostly because he felt awkward whenever he did try to dance. Now that he knew Cyren would be there, he was looking forward to the night more as it gave him an excuse to keep watch over her in case anything did happen. Which he prayed didn’t because Cyren and Marlee had been through enough lately. "I gotta get going to the dining hall. If you're heading that way wanna walk together. You're gonna be so sick of my face by the end of the year. All the professors are." The Hellhound looked at him with a feral smile dancing across her face, “I highly doubt that will happen. You should know by now, that I’m not like all the other Professors. Besides if I felt like I’d grow sick of your face, would I have volunteered to help you with extra abilities classes?” He spoke as they walked, he knew for a fact that he wouldn’t get tired of Cyren or spending time with her. In fact he was growing to look forward to seeing her every day, to hear her smooth voice and watch her as she worked or moved around the school. “Well here we are, I guess I’ll see you later and I don’t want you getting into any more trouble.” A cheekiness stuck to Finn’s voice as a grin settled on his lips, they had reached the dining hall doors which is where he would need to leave Cyren.

Marlee knew that Cyren didn’t see Greg in that sort of light, but she still didn’t like seeing her best friend not give anyone a chance. Sure, Ren couldn’t always control her flames and there was a chance of her hurting someone. But going on a few dates here and there wouldn’t be the end of the world, even if it was more friendly than an actual date. It would mean Cyren would have some fun and be happy, which is what Marlee wanted for her friend. But she knew not to push this, Cyren would date someone when she met the right guy and Marlee would just need to wait until that happened. “Not many people would be able to handle you, but there will be someone who can.” She smiled as she now knew what it was like to have the right person in your life, things between her and Daniel may have just begun but she hadn’t felt this happy in a very long time. She wanted Cyren to feel what she was, Daniel gave her this new ray of light in her life and he was a reason for her to keep going. No matter how bad she was feeling or if she had a crappy day, all she needed to do was see Daniel and everything disappeared from her mind. She felt wanted and cared for when he was around her, Cyren needed to find someone like that. "Please who would I go with? You're totally my date and not getting out of it. Besides I don't like any of the boys in our grade." Cyren told her and Marlee was quick to catch onto her words, she didn’t like the boys in their grade but there was something in Cyren tone that told the fairy there was something more to this. It either meant Cyren liked a boy in a grade below them or she liked someone older than them, Marlee wasn’t sure how the Hellhound could like someone older as they hadn’t really left the school that much for Cyren to meet a guy.

On top of that, when they did leave the school they always went together and Marlee hadn’t seen any boy hanging around. But she didn’t have time to ask more questions because Daniel’s voice asked if he could have a word with her, she smiled at how well Cyren and Daniel got along. It was very much like siblings, well to Marlee it felt like that considering she was an only child. “I’ll see you soon,” She promised Cyren before she turned to face her boyfriend, before he could speak she was apologizing for what she had done in class although he didn’t look like he was mad with her. Her worries were washed away the second his cool lips pressed against her forehead, "God no I'm not mad at you. And I promise you that was really quick thinking- without you there could of been some serious injuries. You were brilliant Marlee. What I wanted to do was thank you. I think my teaching position would of been questioned if I ended up with two dead kids in a class." Daniel praised her which warmed her heart, he was proud of her and that made her want to do better. “You don’t have to thank me, besides you can’t always watch every student all of the time. Those two always get into trouble, that’s something you can’t change.” It was true, Mack and Vin got into more trouble than Cyren did. No one could possibly change how the young vampires acted when they were together, which was most of the time and even if they were separated they always managed to find each other again. Just like Marlee and Cyren.

"You're getting pretty good at your fairy powers." Daniel complimented her only to make a warm blush colour her cheeks, she thanked him softly but she wanted to pull him closer to her and kiss him as a thank you. But that was too risky in a place like the gym because anyone could walk in, but the second they got privacy in a more secure room she would be kissing him as much as she wanted. "Hey, if you're not busy with Cyren tonight do you want to watch some movies? Or if you need help with some work. Though I think we both know that maths isn't my strongest." Daniel suggested and there was no way Marlee would be refusing an offer like that, “I’d really like that. And thankfully I don’t have much homework to do, so you won’t need to help me with maths.” Smiling sweetly she looked into his eyes as she reached a hand out closer to him, her fingers only grazed his own before she was pulling back. The touch was short and quick, but still held affection for him. It was already hard for her to keep herself away from him and act like there wasn’t anything going on between them, she knew it would only get harder to keep the secret but Daniel was worth it and she would make up any excuse to have some alone time with him.

She nodded when he told her that he’d walk her to the dining hall, so they left the gym and headed through the empty hallways. "So I hear you're going to the dance? I guess you already know I'll be chaperoning." Marlee’s smile grew on her face as she did know that he would be chaperoning the dance, it was one reason why she had agreed to go this year. Although they wouldn’t be able to share a dance together, she would still be able to see him all dressed up in a tux which she already knew she’d drool over. “I will be and I do know that, Ren and I are going dress shopping this Saturday. I’ll be happy seeing you dressed up all fancy,” She honestly couldn’t wait, it would be a good night where she and Ren can have fun and dance and not worry about a thing. Even if she can’t dance or kiss Daniel for a night, it will still be worth it because it will be a memory for her and Ren to always have. Sadly their walk came to an end when they stood outside the great oak doors of the student dining hall, "I'll see you later Marlee. Thank you for stepping in today it was a great help." Daniel’s tone of voice became serious once more in case anyone was listening to them, she bid him a goodbye before she vanished through the doors that shut behind her. She quickly grabbed a plate of food and sat down at the table where Cyren was waiting for her, “So before you said you didn’t like any boys in our grades. But there is someone who you like, right?” The look on Marlee’s face was one of eager excitement, it wasn’t often that Cyren had a crush on someone and Marlee wanted to know everything.

"I guess I’ll see you later and I don’t want you getting into any more trouble.” There was a cheeky playfulness that made her shiver. "Look at it this way Finn, if I don't get in trouble, you don't get to be a hero. I'm really doing both of us a favor." Giving him a playful wink, she paused letting her cerulean gave linger on him before turning and heading into the dinning hall. Cyren was still grinning by the time that she entered the dinning hall. The line for food thankfully wasn't long at all so within no time she had gotten her tray of food and sat at the usual table, that unaware grin still on her lips. As she sat, going over her last conversation with Finn. How she swore she could still feel his thumb caressing her cheek. She was torn now, on whether or not he was attracted to her as well- but another part of her didn't want to know. So what if he was? It wasn't as if they could date. Even just from simple little touches she had to fight to keep her flames under control. Cyren could hurt him. Really hurt him, and she didn't think she could stomach that guilt should something ever happen. And such was the way that life was sometimes. Besides, if that weren't enough- Cyren knew that even if they were both attracted to each other, and acted on it no one could know.

Not without fear of him losing his job. Taking a bite, chewing it slowly while mulling over her thoughts. The doors opening and shutting again caught Cyren's attention and she glanced up to find Marlee making her way towards the lunch line. She'd have just enough time to eat Cyren figured, and enough for a little bit of chatting. Usually Cyren would of been nearly finished with her food, but it was largely untouched today. She just wasn't hungry, more worried and thoughtful over more pressing matters to be hungry she supposed. And hopefully if she didn't eat her body would be too tired to put up a fight when it came to her flames. As Marlee took a seat across from her, tray clattering to the table enough to be heard over the normal roar of the other students she looked up, her gaze flickering with happiness for a minute before slipping back to her own tray of food. "So before you said that you didn't like any boys in our grades. But there is someone who you like, right?" This time she glanced up, gaze sharper than before and for a minute she considered lying. That there was no boy, she just didn't want to sound like a dateless dork to the dance. But, there was something gentle, understanding even in Marlee's gaze. Hell who would understand the situation better than Marlee?

Cyren knew her best friend had been in quietly in love with Daniel for awhile now. Not that anything came of it- so she knew what it was like to harbor feelings for someone who couldn't hold them back. "Eh... Don't tell anyone alright?" Marlee wanted there to be no secrets between them and neither did Cyren. Once Marlee swore she'd not say a word to anyone, Cyren frowned at the table. "I do like someone. A lot. And it's weird because I don't know him too well, but he knows plenty about me. And he's kind, god he's too kind almost." There was a soft admiration in her voice that was seldom heard as that frown curved upwards into a broad smile. "You know, he always makes sure I'm safe and happy and has never once looked or treated me like I'm some sort of plague or bad omen. And he cares and just..." She trailed off, biting her lip before that warm fondness dropped from her voice, replaced by something a lot more logical. "But he's a professor, and older than me. There's not much I can offer him and even if by some slight shot in hell he was attracted to me, firstly- I can't date." She had told Marlee about that one time over the summer more than once. Mostly because it was horrible for Cyren and the event that made her swear off of dating, at least until she was sure she wouldn't injure anyone interested in her. Continuing she cleared her voice,

"Mostly because when I get too excited the flames get out of control, I mean like I could really hurt him. Burn his face off or something horrible like that, and thirdly he'd lose his job." There was a sort of dejection in her voice and finally she admitted, "I mean, it's Huxley. But s'not like I plan on telling him. There's no point and it'd scare him off." She tried not to let the rejection color her words too much and picking up her fork poked at the grilled chicken breasts she'd gotten. "But don't tell him okay? I'm really already embarrassed and if he knew he'd probably switch me out of his classes and stuff and with all that aside he really has been helpful with the flames and stuff." She knew Marlee wouldn't say anything, but it was better to be safe than sorry. She knew she had her charms, but Cyren was young, and Finn... Well he was older. He had to know what he liked, and Cyren really had no experience. Which may be cute at first, but it would get obnoxious. His professor status just made him seem really unattainable. "But he really is sweet Marlee. I... After I charged Thomas and dislocated my shoulder he got me right down to the nurse and just..." She trailed off again that dopey smile creeping back on to her face.

Shrugging Cyren shook her head. "Anyway, who am I kidding? He probably has a girlfriend or something. He probably thinks of me as a little sister I bet. God now I know how Greg feels. This is shitty." She grumbled, more to herself than anything as she leaned back away from her food, clearly restless. She listened as Marlee chimed in, offering a bland smile. If Cyren gotten it in her head that something was one way it was going to be hard to convince her otherwise. And the more she thought on it, the more she was convinced that it was just a brotherly sort of affection Finn held for her. "Eh, I dunno. I dunno what he even is." She sighed after Marlee had finished speaking. The clock was beginning to wind down, people were heading towards their dorms or the common rooms and Cyren knew that she should get a move on. "Anyway, now don't shoot me because this is just something I've noticed- if one of us has a shot with a professor here it's you." Leaning forward as she stood with her barely touched food she whispered, "You two are really cute together. I say go for it. Seduce the shit out of him." Winking, subtly shifting the topic away from her she stood heading towards the tray area but not before calling, "See you 'round. Get ready for tomorrow okay! Bright and early!"

She was quick to dump her tray and head out the doors, her hips swaying ever so slightly with a confidence that she convinced herself into feeling. This was going to be the sweetest torture in her opinion. Being so close near Finn, without daring to tell him what she truly wanted to. Her bag was held tightly on her back as she made her way back to the training arena. Perhaps it was because she hadn't been hungry, but Cyren was exhausted. "Can sleep, when I'm dead." She told herself as she made it to the gym. It was eerie being here alone, it raised goosebumps on her skin in fact. However, she just shook it off, and taking out her phone flicked some music on before beginning to warm up by conjuring a flame, and while it took a little longer but in the end, a small flame flickered onto her hand. It danced merrily, crackling and popping as smoke rose from her outstretched palm, a serene sort of expression settling over her expression as she waited for Finn to show up for their impromptu practice session. When he did push the doors open, letting himself in she was quick to scramble to her feet, brushing her legs off of any dust.

    Daniel Roberts | Vampire

He was more excited than he'd care to let other's know. Yet as he sat in the staff room, his normal mug filled with coffee and blood and leg bouncing up and down he noted a few stares. Thankfully he wasn't harassed too much as he finished his drink as quick as he could without looking suspicious or antsy. To try to keep himself somewhat busy he tried to mentally scan through any good flicks that were ready to stream. He normally settled for horror or if there was an interesting documentary; but somehow he doubted Marlee would be into either of those things. A comedy? An action? Rush Hour was a classic. A safe choice. Some title. Or he could just let her pick. That would probably be best. Hell, for Marlee he could put up with one of those dreadfully sappy romance movies. Raising the black mug to his lips and knocking a deep swig back he made a soft hissing noise as the hot liquid splashed against his tongue. Wincing setting the mug back down he waited in that room long enough to be one of the last, his coffee having gone cool before chugging the rest of his dinner, and standing up wiping the back of his mouth off with his hand.

Hiding the bounce in his step god he was like a teenager again Daniel made his way towards the door, grumbling a goodnight to the few staff who were still in the room. Luckily the hallways were pretty tame. Most kids were either in their dorms, or the commons so he didn't have to worry about that. Instead he walked calmly, holding himself as he normally did as he neared the staff quarters, taking the stairs down to where the vampiric staff slept. Where Marlee was staying. He could hear some chatter behind doors, though again no one was in the hallways. Seldom were- vampires were naturally solitary creatures. Approaching Marlee's door he knocked twice swiftly before opening the door, allowing himself in. It was a little too risky to be talking in anything above a hushed tone so he turned to her as soon as the door was closed and murmured, "Sorry for bursting in I didn't want other teachers to hear. Ready for movie night?" He adored being with her like this. In a relaxed setting with no pressing matters to deal with. No life and death situations that drained him mentally and physically.

Like this he got to be with Marlee, keeping an eye on her and just being assured that was safe and okay. "So I'll let you pick." He murmured going to sit on her bed, motioning to her laptop so they could watch. "I'm not picky and I'll watch just about anything." He assured, dark eyes glistening with excitement. He thankfully didn't have much work to do tonight, nothing he couldn't get done in the morning. Sitting on her bed, hunching foward as if to conserve space felt a little out of place. He knew that if someone walked in now, it would be hard to explain his way out of this one. His job would go and he was sure the scandal would be talked about for years to come. But setting his jaw he pushed out thoughts like those. Instead he waited for Marlee to approach before fixing her with his dark gaze. "Today... It didn't tire you too much right? I won't mind if you need to fall asleep during the movie." He wasn't something that really ever needed sleep. Sleep was a minimal thing for the vampire. This room smelled empty, devoid of what her actual dorm smelt like, of subtle floral perfume and shampoos.

But it wasn't a big deal, it brought neither distress or comfort to Daniel's blood. As Marlee flicked around his Netflix account for something to watch he felt his gaze drawn to her like a magnet. Perhaps a movie had been a bad idea. Daniel doubted he'd be able to remove his eyes from her. Before she clicked play he shifted so he was facing her. "So, you've been taking your sleeping potions? Thomas hasn't visited you?" The thought of her father spiriting the object of his affections away almost made him growl, a low wild sound. But he held it back, instead settling for a wide-eyed gaze of concern. Listening to her, making sure that she was being truthful and nothing was amiss he nodded and casually opened his arm. "C'mere." He murmured, allowing her to snuggle into his side. This is what he had wanted to do all day. Leaning forward pressing a soft kiss to the side of the forehead Daniel fell quiet as the movie began; though his mind was still distracted. What did Thomas want. What had he wanted to accomplish? Was Marlee really the target or was it something more? Either way he doubted this was the last they'd hear from the fae, and that worried him greatly.

Finn walked through the empty hallways until he reached the Professor’s dining hall, pushing a large heavy oak door he stepped into the filled room. Joining the line before it grew any longer, he got a plate and a few bits and pieces of food before he sat down at a table. He gave a smile to the other Professor’s that were sitting there, a small group of Witches but he didn’t feel like making conversation with them. His mind was full of Cyren and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t stop thinking about the young student. He was glad that no one else could see who he was thinking of because he wouldn’t be able to explain himself, no student should be stuck on his mind but he honestly couldn’t help himself. She may be younger than him but she was amazing and so beautiful, she may not think she can handle herself but she could and she could do it well. She just needed to believe in herself more, which is something Finn wanted to bring up in their extra classes. Maybe if she believed in herself than her flames wouldn’t control her, it was a lot to do with her mind so if they could work on that then things could be easier for her.

He thought about bringing it up that night as he chewed his food, but he figured she had been through enough recently so he wouldn’t push her. But he would take it slightly easier on Cyren this lesson as the day had been long and if he was exhausted then she would be as well, but he also wasn’t going to let this lesson go without them putting in some effort because that would be stupid and a waste of their time. He took his time eating but when his food went cold, he noticed that he had only ate half of his meal but it was enough for him for now. Standing up he took his plate back over towards the kitchen, he pushed the food left over into the bin before placing his plate onto the stack of dirty dishes. He checked the time only to see that he was late for his lesson with the small brunette Hellhound, turning around he walked back through the doors and into the hallway. This time there were students rushing around, most likely trying to catch up with friends before lights went out and all students needed to be in their dorms. He didn’t stop even when a few students bid him a goodnight, he did murmur a goodnight to them but that is all they received from him as he made his way past the students.

As he pushed the gym door open, he stepped inside and couldn’t stop the smile from forming across his face when he noticed that Cyren was already there and was practicing. Watching as she stood up when she heard him, “Don’t let me stop you. It’s good that you’re starting without me,” It showed him so much promise, she wanted to learn as much as she could and learn the control that she was desperate to hold over her flames. “All I want you to do is make a small flame in your palm and hold it for as long as you can, if the flame weakens than let it but don’t let it go out.” He instructed her as he was going to change how he taught her, at first he wanted to push her to do better and although it had worked at times. He wanted her to start small and grow when she was ready, this way her flames hopefully wouldn’t spread along her skin when she didn’t want it to. He stood there a little bit away from Cyren as he wanted to give her space and didn’t want to distract her, “Just relax and stay calm. Steady your breathing and heartbeat, don’t let any thoughts into that mind of yours. Begin whenever you like,” Finn spoke in a soothing tone as he actually took another step backwards, just so Cyren would feel more at peace and not like he was right there in her personal space.

Keeping his dark eyes focused on the Hellhound, his gaze was soft and warming because he knew that she would be able to do this task. It may take some time but it was a task that he would be setting for her in Abilities class, so she could continue on with any progress that she makes during their extra lessons. He watched as Cyren turned her music off and shortly after closed her eyes, as she listened to him and calmed herself down. She took her time before she turned her hand around so her palm was facing upwards, concentration settled on her beautiful features but even though she was working hard on making a flame. It still took her a good few minutes before an orange flame sparked to life, it was on the smaller side but it was a flame none the less. It danced on her palm as the air moved around the room and caused the flame to flicker, “That’s it. Just hold that flame, Cyren. You’re doing so well,” He encouraged his not so secretly favourite student, he grew more proud of her with each day that he is able to watch her practice and learn. He wanted to tell her that to keep her spirits high, but he also didn’t want to come across as his creepy Professor even though he was sure that Cyren wouldn’t see him that way. He didn’t want to risk it, he liked her more than he should and overall he enjoyed her company which he didn’t want to give up anytime soon.

Marlee’s aqua eyes widened when Cyren admitted to her that she did indeed have a crush on someone, she listened intently to what her friend was telling her as she ate her food. “I promise that I won’t tell a soul,” She promised her best friend although who would she tell? The only person she would consider telling was Daniel, but it also wasn’t any of his business so she would keep it to herself. Plus she highly doubted that Daniel would care about who Cyren was liking, he clearly wasn’t someone who found that interesting. "But he's a professor, and older than me. There's not much I can offer him and even if by some slight shot in hell he was attracted to me, firstly- I can't date." Ren talked quietly so no one else would over hear what they were talking about, Marlee was shocked and it showed as her mouth opened and she had nearly dropped the fork in her hand. Cyren liked a Professor. It was a lot to take in for her, which it shouldn’t be because she had talked to Ren about her crush on Professor Roberts. “Even so, once you learn how to control yourself you will be able to do so much more. You can date and touch someone, without the fear of hurting them. It’ll just take time, that’s all.” She tried to reassure her friend but her mind had instantly gone to Professor Huxley, it was obvious that it was him as the school didn’t have many young Professors and he was the only new one.

“I’m not going to tell him, Ren. Have you thought about when you graduate? If he is interested, then you two could wait until then.” She suggested as that is what she and Daniel should have done, waited until Marlee wasn’t a student anymore but she couldn’t help herself. She wanted him now and she didn’t want to wait, guilt filled her body as she remembered the promise they made to never keep secrets from each other. She was hiding something huge from her best friend and Marlee hated herself for it, the words were right on the tip of tongue and it would have been easy for her to just spill everything about Daniel. But he had been right when it was better if no one knew, Cyren wouldn’t get into trouble for knowing and not saying anything. But it was so hard. “It won’t be hard for you to get to know him more, you two do spend a bit of time together.” Marlee pointed out as she continued to eat more of her food, she was hungrier than she first thought she was and her plate was shortly emptied. "Anyway, now don't shoot me because this is just something I've noticed- if one of us has a shot with a professor here it's you. You two are really cute together. I say go for it. Seduce the shit out of him." Cyren winked as she stood up from the table and went to head out, but not before she mentioned about tomorrow as they had a day full of shopping. She nodded as her cheeks turned a bright red, Cyren had never said that before and it only made the young fae feel even worse about the deep secret she was keeping from everyone. She’d need to mention it to Daniel later on, surely she could tell one person as she knew Cyren wouldn’t speak of it to anyone else.

But it wasn’t too long after that Marlee handed in her dirty plate and headed towards the staff quarters, going down the stairs she sent small smiles to a few of the vampiric Professors that she passed on her way to her room. Once inside her shoes came off and she sat at the desk so she could get her homework done, before Daniel arrived for their movie night which she hadn’t stopped thinking about. She had to force herself to sit still on the chair, she hadn’t been this excited for a long time and it was showing. It was hard for her to concentrate on her work and she had pretty much given up by the time Daniel had stepped into her room, her face instantly brightened when she saw him. She smiled when he told her that she could pick the movie that they would watch, so she carried her laptop over to the bed and sat down beside him. After he had logged into his Netflix she took over and looked through all the movies that she could pick from, she didn’t bother looking at any scary movies because she hated them and would always have nightmares after watching something with horror in it. "Today... It didn't tire you too much right? I won't mind if you need to fall asleep during the movie." Daniel asked softly which caused her to glance over at him, in the past her magic would wear her out rather quickly. And she had been expecting to feel tired after how much magic she used today, but surprisingly she was feeling normal. “Actually I feel good, I’m not that tired so I guess my magic isn’t as draining on me anymore.” She smiled as she was proud of herself for that, for the longest time she was nervous to use her magic because of how exhausted she would be afterwards. But the more she used her magic, the better she was feeling.

Marlee finally settled on the first Fast and Furious movie as she loved the whole set of movies, she could have easily picked a romantic movie but she knew Daniel would have hated it. This time was for just them and she wanted them both to enjoy it, "So, you've been taking your sleeping potions? Thomas hasn't visited you?" His deep voice echoed in her ears as she pressed play on the film, looking at the vampire sitting on her bed she saw the concern and worry in his eyes.”You worry about me too much, yes the potions are still working. I haven’t been dreaming at all, I’d tell you if he was back.” She assured him before she moved closer to him and leaned against his body, being this close to him was a dream come true and she never wanted this to end. Having his strong arm wrapped around her body was sending goose bumps across her skin, the kiss to her temple also wasn’t helping as it caused a shiver to run along her spine. She leaned closer to him and pressed a kiss to his cheek, the scruffy facial hair tickled her soft skin before her head was resting against his shoulder and her eyes turned to her laptop screen so she could watch the movie. However it was tough with having Daniel so close to her, all she wanted to do was pull his body over her’s and kiss him until he had to leave her.

“All I want you to do is make a small flame in your palm and hold it for as long as you can, if the flame weakens than let it but don’t let it go out.” She knew that she was getting off easy. Perhaps it was the earlier fright, but she got the feeling that Finn wasn't going to push her very hard this class. Cyren wanted to do well for Finn. To prove that she wasn't a loss cause like so many other staff seemed to think about her. Because it wasn't just Finn she wanted to prove that to- it was herself as well. That her life wouldn't be dictated by the flames that coursed inside her. So, she straightened her spine and with a furrowed brow carefully extended her palm away from Finn. It took a bit longer than normal, and Finn stepped in offering his own advice. “Just relax and stay calm. Steady your breathing and heartbeat, don’t let any thoughts into that mind of yours. Begin whenever you like.” As always his words were like the puzzle pieces that Cy' hadn't realized she'd been missing. To her delight a flame burst forth on her palm. It dwindled down to a more tamed fire that crackled and snapped a dark orange on her pale palms. Basking in this small accomplishment, after all wasn't life all about the little things? She glanced towards Finn, eye darkened by a feeling of exhaustion though still glimmering with that impish joy they never seemed to lose.

It was odd, like this she looked innocent to the outside eye. Like any ordinary senior who was poised to graduate come spring. That darkness and anger that always beat beneath her heart, so strong it was almost intangible, was invisible. Hell, if Cyren put any thought into this she'd realize that with Finn- was one of the only times she felt like that. When she knew... peace. Peace of mind and heart. Those shadows that stained every edge of smile or edge of her gaze was gone. Replaced by determination, and a sort of... renewed vigor to control herself. For awhile she remained quiet, her plush lips slightly agape as she stared down at the flame in her hand bringing a small chuckle as she realized it was probably a good thing she wasn't a pyromaniac. Eventually she regained a more iron-clad control of the little flame that sputtered and flickered on her hand casting a soft glow on her face, creating strange shadows on the contour of her face. Once she felt comfortable, Cyren glanced up letting her gaze rake heatedly over Finn's form a sort of smile that had that I know something you don't quality as she bit gently down on her lip trying to hide the grin.

"What?" Finn asked, his voice lit with a good-naturedness that made her shiver. "I'm just thinking how ridiculous you're going to look in a tux." That purr covered the fact that she had been thinking quite the opposite. And she was thankful for the half-light of the gym to sink her in a gloom which would be hard for him to make out the blush on her high cheekbones. No, she was positive that Finn would look... Well as attractive as he ever did. For a few minutes she let her mind wander; and it eventually made it's way back to the friendly wager they'd made on his first day. "So... I noticed you don't eat too terribly much. I've never seen you eating. And most staff walk around with snacks and stuff. That rules out mystical bunny... But I'm gonna be able to guess soon." And edge of amused victory crept into her voice. "I would'a noticed sooner if you weren't something obscure- and it has to be obscure because trust me, I'm pretty good at figuring out what people are around me." It had been something she'd kept quiet about for weeks. Just studying and observing hoping he'd slip into some tell-tale habit. Which he kind of had.

Cyren would wager he'd almost forgotten she'd been trying to work out what he was. Though, if he didn't eat much that tended to either speak to a disorder which she didn't believe he had, or a supernatural creature that was covered with scales rather fur. Which luckily for him there were enough reptilian based supernatural creatures for her to take a bit longer to kink out exactly what it was. Cyren glanced over to him and for a moment she swore she'd seen panic. Like he wasn't too keen on letting her know. Even though he'd told her to just hold the small flame she clenched her fist around it feeling the thing extinguish. "You could be a giant spider and I wouldn't freak out. Just so you know. And spiders are usually like... My kryptonite." The girl added in a quiet voice. This was the man who hadn't blinked an eye when it'd been announced what she was. The man who made her feel safe and wanted- so she would return that as best she could to him. It made her wonder- was Finn so good at teaching her how to control herself because he'd had similar struggles. Had there been no one to teach him? Unwittingly she'd taken a step or two closer towards him, lost in her own thoughts. The only flaw in her theory was, the staff didn't treat him like they treated him. He wasn't something to be feared- but that could simply be because Finn was an adult.

The staff would see him as one of them, someone who was in control; whereas Cyren had been known to be a bit.... volatile. "Anyway, I'm totally gonna figure it out before Christmas Break." She warned, turning back to her flames and working on control of them. The rest of the class felt easy, a friendly air between the two of them. It made it easy as possible to focus on her given tasks, and every so often she'd stifle a yawn trying not to blink blearily the more they practiced. This practice session felt like the longest yet, though they actually managed to wrap things up and get out the door heading back to their rooms together. She wouldn't ask him to stay, Cyren felt that she was settled in enough she didn't need to rely on him to sleep anymore. Besides, she was just... tired. Tonight Cyren would have no problems sleeping. Instead, she'd wearily brush against Finn time to time in the poorly lit halls, most sleeping in their dorms. Tonight she was quiet for a change, a vacant beauty flickering in her eyes. Finn didn't seem to mind as she finally rested against him, letting him guide her through the halls while she yawned into her arm. Finally, without her being truly aware they arrived at her dorm. A soft sigh was mumbled through half-opened lips as she gingerly pulled herself upright. The halls were truly dark, but it was no problem for her hellhound.

In the dark her eyes had shifted, sangria bled into the sapphire blues granting her the ability to see in the dark. For a moment she lingered there, just breathing him in allowing it to soothe her already slack nerves. She always hated saying goodnight to him. And while she wouldn't ask him to stay again- Cyren was reminded just how much she hated being alone. But it was late, she needed to finish some homework and head to bed; and he likely had things to grade or better ways to spend his time rather than with a students. So, she acted on autopilot. Without thinking anything of it at the moment. It was instinct, a mixed reaction driven on by the hound in her head and the weariness in her bones as she turned to face Finn, whispering a soft "'G'night." Which was normal, but what she was unawares of at first was the fact she stepped towards him in the narrow hallway; snuggling into man before pulling back pressing a light kiss against his smooth clean-shaven cheek before offering a little smile. "Thanks for letting me go out this weekend. I'll see you tomorrow." Cyren didn't understand or register the odd look on his face as she turned and headed into her own dorm, quietly shutting the door.

In fact, it wasn't until after she had shucked her clothes off, bothering only to put on an old loose pair of underwear before crawling into her bed. Collapsing beneath the thick comforter with her hair splayed out on the pillows beneath her. It wouldn't be until she was nearly asleep would Cyren realize that she'd kissed his cheek. Had pressing her face into the crook of his shoulder finding comfort there. And of course she was mortified with herself. God he was never going to speak to her again! It had just felt so natural at the time that she'd thought nothing of it! She'd have to wear a hood in his class tomorrow and burrow behind Greg. "Ugh, at least Marlee will get a laugh out of it." She thought cursing her impulse. That night she had dreams like eyes were watching her, eyes that saw everything- and simply observed. Cyren could never see them it just felt like that, so needless to say she did not sleep very well at all. Which was unfortunate as upon her waking the young woman felt like death had rolled over on her. She was exhausted, hardly able to keep her eyes open and was just tempted to skip her morning classes. She was smart enough she could get away with it.

But in the end she showered getting ready, throwing on a flimsy gray tanktop which just reached past the waistband of her black sweatpants that read Drop Dead in grayish lettering across her groin area. She wasn't usually one for pajamas as clothing; but today the hellhound was simply too lazy. Packing an over-sized hoodie shoved in her bag, she pulled her wet hair back into amass of hair forming a rather messy bun and hardly applied her makeup before leaving the room. She'd need coffee. Badly. Possibly a whole pot of it. Unable to shake that feeling like someone was watching her Cyren glanced around as she exited out into the hallway, shivering. Her first thought as always had been to go find Marlee; though thankfully Cyren caught up to her in the hallways a little away from the dorms. Faux sunlight glimmered off her pale neck as she jogged over to her friend, bumping the fae with her hip. "How was your night?" Cyren yawned, once she had Marlee's attention. "Couldn't fucking sleep." The irritable hellhound gritted out, glowering at a group of werewolves who'd been staring at them too long for the feisty brunette's liking. They were quick to avert their gazes, and breeze past the two girls. Glancing over at the bubbly fairy the hellhound let out a dark chuckle. "You look happy. You're night must of gone really well. Did you actually seduce the shit out of him?"

    Daniel Roberts | Vampire

It was a relief to hear that she was advancing far enough in her abilities that it no longer drained her as much as it had before to use them. He was tempted to lay down, and hold her against his chest- movie be damned, and just listen and feel her heart beating but refrained. It was always extraordinary for the vampire who's heart had lain still for centuries, to feel someone else's. To hear the lifeblood it frantically pumped out. "Good, I'm sure Headmaster Garret will be really pleased to hear that." It meant that she was coming into her own in regards to her powers, and Daniel hoped that soon not even Thomas would be able to manipulate her. It was then he realized, that she was going to be quite powerful someday. And honestly he had known earlier- but it felt more... concrete and set in stone. This woman was from an old family. One of the firsts. And while Daniel didn't much concern himself with Fae politics, he envisioned that she could vie for the spot of council leader someday if she wanted to. The council normally were stuffy old fae set in their ways that tried to govern, lead, and solve problems in fairy communities. But, as he stared down at Marlee the vampire thought that one day should she want it- she could bring a much welcome change to a large scale.

”You worry about me too much, yes the potions are still working. I haven’t been dreaming at all, I’d tell you if he was back.” Sheepishly he chuckled, feeling his cheeks flush with phantom heat. "Well, I need to worry. You're a lot more fragile than I am. And I want to make sure you stay alive for many, many, many more decades to come." He murmured, lowering his head so his forehead was resting against her's in a moment of affection. They stayed like that for a moment, Daniel utterly blissful in the fact that she was so near and close- and he could finally hold her as he pleased. It was something he worried about, vampires as a species were naturally territorial and aggressive over things- as were dragons and werewolves. Jealousy was something he would struggle with and he was a little worried of that. He couldn't get jealous because his female student was getting male attention. And he didn't want it to ruin anything they could have. But, he knew there would be times where he couldn't help it. To him, she was a delicate being of pure light and beauty. He wasn't the only one who would see that and want it. Her classmates were far too blind to see that. Yet. As she selected the movie, Fast and Furious he settled down with her.

His eyes would flicker from her to the movie and back to rest on her. He'd already seen this and that meant he could relinquish some of his attention from the laptop screen to the woman resting in his arms. He didn't even try to bite back the smile that arose to his lips when she leaned up, brushing her lips against his face. His stubble must of scratched her, in a pleasant way as she shuddered against him and Daniel was swept in her beauty. No, this is wrong and this is gonna backfire A more logical part of his brain argued but it was so distant now that he could hardly hear it through the rest of his love-stricken thoughts. The movie itself was good, there were a few times he was so tempted to brush his fangs against Marlee's neck and gently bite down- but he wouldn't do that. Dan refused to treat her like a blood-bag as she was not. And Fae blood could be addictive to vampires; and Daniel was pretty sure that he'd only want to feed from her should he bite down. Instead he leaned against the wall, head resting on her shoulder as she sat in front, leaned against him. Around them it was getting later and darker, but he didn't care. Daniel was perfectly capable of sneaking back to his place without alerting the other staffers.

And the more he let go, allowed himself to realize that wrong or right, caught or not- this is what he wanted. To be with Marlee. He wanted to make her happy and help her through what he could. Protect her as best he could. In fact, it would be ideal that Cyren wouldn't have to worry about her as much and focus on her own life; though he doubted that would happen. No matter how well Daniel watched out for Marlee that Hellhound was always going to be around and he was fine with it. Daniel couldn't help but wonder, how many more nights did they have like this? Quietly wrapped in each other, enjoying the company they had to offer one another and feeling just fulfilled by looking at his fae girlfriend. How many more smiles could he get from her before the rebellion drove their shadow to the school's front doorstep? Could he protect her then? It became clear to Daniel the more he pondered on this the more obvious it became to just leave it be. To live for the now and if they ever managed to bring war here- protect Marlee as best he could. Hope they both lived through it- together. By the time the movie was over was nearly falling asleep.

His eyes were fluttering shut and his head was tilted back against the wall. Shit, he'd need to get to bed soon or he'd be a grump tomorrow and Cyren would start asking questions. Once the movie was done, Daniel bit back a yawn and instead carefully got up from behind Marlee. "I gotta get going alright? I'll see you tomorrow, and if there's something you wanna do let me know. Otherwise you can come by whenever you want." He promised leaning forward to press a confident but sweet kiss against her lips, deepening it only for a moment before pulling back. His hand came up to gently caress her cheek for a moment before he cleared his throat with a crooked smile. "This is going to get more complicated when you move back to your own dorm next week." He announced, though didn't seem to mind too terribly much. Quietly, once their goodbyes were bade he crept out of her room to his own, quick to shed his shirt and jeans off before lowering himself gracefully into bed. And that night he went to sleep satisfied. That feeling lasted until he woke up, a little before his alarm.

Daniel did all his normal things, hygiene and dressing in a more casual manner, grading some things in his room before slipping out the door towards the staff dining hall for some food. The halls were pretty much empty save for the insomniacs who hadn't slept, and the early birds who liked to be up well before school started. The halls were quiet, so quiet it almost ached in Daniel's chest as he sat down at his normal table, with his usual breakfast fixings, his mind filled with Marlee's sweet, soft voice. God, she captured his attention without even trying. And Daniel knew that he was like a mouse in her hands if she so pleased. He was lost in thought until the doors opened awhile later to reveal a disgruntled looking Finn and figuring Cyren had been a handful last night he kindly waved to the other teacher, motioning to the seat next to him. "Rough night? You look a little tired." He noted once the other man sat down, though he didn't look upset per say. Still trying to be helpful he added in what he hoped sounded like a friendly yet genuinely curious voice, "Everything alright?" He was still new here, so perhaps he was having some homesickness. Or maybe he just hadn't been able to sleep well. Though Daniel knew it was a possibility that Cyren finally managed to give Finn a run for his money.

    Finn Huxley | Basilisk
    Image

Finn watched Cyren closely as she controlled the small flame that was flickering on her palm, the glow casting a shadow across her face but even a shadow didn’t take any of her beauty away. And with that thought crossing his mind, he turned his dark eyes to watch the flame instead of his student’s face. Finn had never once thought this would ever happen to him, especially not in his first year of teaching and at his first teaching job. But it was happening and he wasn’t able to stop himself from developing feelings for Cyren, he had tried to ignore the feelings he received from being around the young student and he tried so hard to not think about her. But he was failing miserably as nothing he was doing was keeping the Hellhound from entering his mind, from being the reason he smiled every time he saw her and it was making Finn like this dirty old man. However he wasn’t that much older than Cyren, but he was a Professor and it was wrong for him to have any sort of feelings for any student that was under his care.

But then Cyren turned her dark gaze onto him and the look on her face was daring him to ask her what was on her mind, “What?” He finally asked as he was curious as to what she was thinking, "I'm just thinking how ridiculous you're going to look in a tux." Cyren purred at him which only caused him to roll his eyes at her comment, he knew for a fact that he looked decent in a tux. The worst thing for him was going to feel incredibly uncomfortable in a tux, it was only on rare occasions that he did pull his tux out from the back of his closet. But he had been dragged into this and there wasn’t any way for him to get out of it, “You say that now. But you haven’t seen me in a tux, yet.” He told the Hellhound when he really should have just ignored her comment, but no he had to reply to her and he wanted to slap himself for what he did say. He was digging a giant hole for himself in terms of Cyren, no Professor should speak in that way with a student. He didn’t want to encourage any flirting between them, it was wrong and he didn’t want to let Cyren have this false hope that something could happen between them when nothing could.

"So... I noticed you don't eat too terribly much. I've never seen you eating. And most staff walk around with snacks and stuff. That rules out mystical bunny... But I'm gonna be able to guess soon. I would'a noticed sooner if you weren't something obscure- and it has to be obscure because trust me, I'm pretty good at figuring out what people are around me." Cyren spoke up after a few minutes of silence between them, although it was a comfortable silence which didn’t surprise Finn in the lease. Everything was comfortable for him when Cyren was close by, he listened to her before he thought about her words. She wasn’t close by any means to figuring out what he was, but she was heading in the right direction so he knew it wouldn’t take her that much longer. She was smart and seemed to notice more than he first realised, “No I’m not a mystical bunny. I’m far from being one of those, but you’ll have to use more than just that brain to figure out what I am.” He gave her a little hint to help her along, he wasn’t scared of her finding out that he was Basilisk but his kind wasn’t common anymore so she might need to hit the library if she really wanted to find out what he was. However he still just didn’t like telling people that he was a Basilisk, he has had some bad experiences from people knowing and he didn’t want to scare Cyren away from him.

It didn’t matter to some people how much control he had over himself, they still ran for the hills just to be away from him in case he lost his control. Which hasn’t happened in many, many years. In fact the last time he did lose his control was when he was still in his teen years and was learning, but he had hurt someone close to him which had pushed him even more to keep control of his snake self. A little bit of panic did flow through his features, he wasn’t ready to tell her. Which he should have already because it will hurt him less when she leaves his life after finding out, everyone has left him but something was stopping him from telling Cyren. Maybe she was different and wouldn’t be scared of him. "You could be a giant spider and I wouldn't freak out. Just so you know. And spiders are usually like... My kryptonite." Cyren looked at him and he did notice the two steps she took to be closer to him, he felt like laughing but it didn’t feel like the right place to laugh. Cyren was being serious, even her flame was gone from her palm as she looked at him. “I’m not a giant spider, either.” He looked into her stunning eyes as that would have been the perfect time to tell her, but the words were stuck in his throat and he couldn’t force them out. He assumed that Cyren would react like the other staff members did, none of them cared because they knew how strong his control was before he even started at the school.

All the staff had grown up with other Basilisk around the world, so they knew what bad ones looked and acted like. Besides the Headmaster wouldn’t have hired him, if he was worried about Finn controlling himself and not turning into his snake form in the middle of a class. However a grin broke onto his face when she warned him that she would figure it all out before Christmas break, she had plenty of time but now Finn knew that she was onto him more and he would need to watch himself when she was around. “We’ll see about that,” Finn grinned as the lesson continued once Cyren formed another flame in the palm of her hand, for them both the lesson dragged on longer than usual and he was relieved when time was up and they headed towards the staff quarters. Her small body brushed against his as they walked, until she gave in and just leaned into his side as exhaustion settled deeper into her body. It only took them a few short minutes before they reached the stairs that lead up into the staff bedrooms, he guided her towards her own room before stopping when they reached the closed door. “Goodnight Cyren,” He told her as she hadn’t asked him to stay until she fell asleep, which was a good sign in his opinion. But then she moved closer to him again, but this time his body froze when her warm soft lips pressed against his clean-shaved cheek. His eyes widened as the Hellhound simply just stepped into her room and shut the door, Finn stood there in utter shock for a couple of seconds before he moved into his own room but he couldn’t stop thinking about the kiss. Had Cyren realised what she did? Was she that tired that it just happened? Did she mean for it to happen?

Those thoughts echoed in his mind all night long, he laid in his bed unable to sleep because Cyren had kissed his cheek. He tried to brush it off and tell him that it was an accident, but that still didn’t allow him to get much sleep but he was lucky that it was the weekend tomorrow and he didn’t have classes. Because when his alarm sounded from his phone, he had only been sleeping for a few hours and knew it was going to be a tough day for him on such little sleep. So he dragged himself into the shower and got himself ready for the long day ahead of him, he got dressed and grabbed an apple from his small kitchen to eat on his way to the staff lunchroom where he needed to drink all the coffee they had made. He finished his breakfast on his walk and tossed the core into a bin as he poured himself a mug of coffee, he saw that Daniel was waving him over to where he was sitting. Finn didn’t think twice about joining the vampire as he knew Cyren and maybe could help him out, Finn wasn’t blind and had seen the way Daniel looked at the blonde fairy although it was also obvious that no one else had taken note of it. And it could still be nothing, but Finn felt comfortable with the vampire. "Rough night? You look a little tired. Everything alright?" Daniel asked as Finn sat down at the empty table, “Long night. I didn’t get much sleep… It’s just Cyren, she’s this amazing young woman and yet no one gives her the attention she deserves. I just don’t understand how she’s gone for so long and no one has bothered to help her,” It made Finn angry and in turn it caused the anger to flow down deep inside of him, where the snake was waiting and wanting to be free.
    Marlee Hudson | Fairy
    Image

Marlee was proud of how far she has come recently with her magic, it wasn’t that long ago that she struggled to even make a simple spell. But now she was growing stronger and so was her magic, she could feel the power in her veins and it was the same power that caused her father to turn into the selfish man that he was right now. It did scare Marlee as she didn’t want the power to go to her head like it had her father, she’d mention it to Daniel on another day but she did know what he would tell her. That she had nothing to worry about, she wasn’t like her father and she would be able to control it like most of her family before her. But that didn’t make her stop from worrying about what could happen in her future, but seeing how proud Daniel was of her made everything worth it. "Well, I need to worry. You're a lot more fragile than I am. And I want to make sure you stay alive for many, many, many more decades to come." Daniel’s voice lowered as his forehead rested against her’s, she closed her eyes so she could fully enjoy how he was making her feel. Warmth filled her mind and soul from just being there with him, having his arms wrapped around her body securely and his scent filling her senses. “I’m not as fragile as you think, I do have magic which you don’t. Nothing will happen to me, nothing will take me away from you.” She smiled as she looked at him, she wasn’t strong enough to fight and she couldn’t move as quickly as he could. But her strength was her magic and that would protect her, if she ever needed it.

Her attention was focused on the movie as she cuddled with her vampire boyfriend, something she never thought she’d be able to say but she could now and she hoped it never changed. She knew she didn’t need a man for her to be complete and happy with herself and her life, but having Daniel simply made her life hundred times better. He gave her affection and protection, he cared about her and knew her better than most people. He didn’t seem to care or worry that she wasn’t as experienced as he was, she only had one serious boyfriend and that had been Hamish before she saw what he was really like. But other than that, Marlee hadn’t gotten any more experience in being in a relationship or even having sex. She had sex with Hamish twice and both times had been awful, not only did it hurt the first time but Hamish didn’t care about giving her pleasure. He got himself off and that was it, both times Marlee ran to Cyren crying because of how horrible she felt. She knew Daniel wasn’t anything like that, she couldn’t wait until that moment came between them although Marlee wasn’t going to rush anything.

She wanted to take things slow, she wanted to enjoy every second of being with Daniel and she felt going slow was the best for them. It gave them more time and in her opinion, their relationship would last longer because they had things to look forward to. Marlee continued to watch the movie but towards the end, her eyes had grown heavy as her tiredness settled in from the long day of studying. "I gotta get going alright? I'll see you tomorrow, and if there's something you wanna do let me know. Otherwise you can come by whenever you want." Daniel told her as he carefully moved off her bed, her lips instantly formed a pout as she didn’t want him to leave. It was times like this that she cursed herself for not being a year older, it would come eventually but it wasn’t coming fast enough for Marlee’s liking. “Do you have to go?” She asked already knowing that he did need to leave, if he stayed there was a greater chance they would be caught and that was the last thing that either of them wanted. She leaned forward slightly as Daniel moved in for a kiss, a kiss which he deepened right before pulling back which caused a disappointed grunt to sound in the back of Marlee’s throat. It wasn’t nice for him to show her what a real kiss was like and then leave her hanging.

"This is going to get more complicated when you move back to your own dorm next week." He looked at her but he wasn’t bothered by it, “We’ll work it out. I’ll see you tomorrow, have a good sleep.” She smiled before she watched him leave her room and shut the door behind him, the mood changed once he was gone as she wished he had stayed. She wanted to call out for him, to have him rush back over to her but that would only alarm all the other vampire staff. So she changed into some pajamas and climbed into bed, she drank the sleeping potion before she rolled onto her side and made herself comfortable as her body relaxed. The potion kept her sound asleep for the whole night until her body was ready to wake up, when she did she got herself into the shower and ready for the day she had planned with Cyren. She curled her blonde locks before making a messy ponytail, she pulled her clothes on before walking out the door so she could find Ren and have some breakfast. They wanted to get into the town rather quickly so they could use all day to relax and shop for the perfect dress, she had only begun to walk towards the student dining hall when Cyren found her. "How was your night? Couldn't fucking sleep." Cyren grumbled as she yawned, it was something that Marlee constantly worried about. Cyren didn’t sleep that well and she was very tempted to pay the witches a visit, if they could make her a sleeping potion then surely they could brew one up for a Hellhound.

“It was good, I didn’t do much. Finished my homework and chilled out,” She told her friend and had to bite her tongue so she wouldn’t tell Ren exactly what she did last night. "You look happy. You're night must of gone really well. Did you actually seduce the shit out of him?" Cyren grinned at her but she did her best to act like she would have if she wasn’t interested in Professor Roberts, “No. I’m happy because I get to spend the whole day with you,” She smiled as she linked her arm with Cyren’s as they neared the dining hall, had she seduced Daniel? She wasn’t sure if she knew how to seduce a man, she was pretty sure that she hadn’t but she did want to try. She’d most likely try and make a fool out of herself, Daniel probably wouldn’t mind though but if he laughed at her than he would need to make it up to her. Marlee pushed open the door to the dining hall and she pulled Ren over to short line of students that were gathering their breakfast, it was common to not see lots of students this early in the morning on a weekend. In fact most of the students were seniors who also wanted to reach the town early, Marlee filled her plate with food as it would most likely be a long day of walking around and she wanted to have energy. She carried her plate over to their normal table and sat down, before she looked at her Hellhound friend.

“I could try and sneak into your room tonight, I hate that you’re still having trouble sleeping.” Marlee offered as she would need to sneak, Daniel may be her boyfriend now but that didn’t mean he would allow them to be in the same room together. Especially over night because it would be easy for her father to tap into Cyren’s mind, it would only cause trouble if that happened and they were together because anything could happen. But Marlee would still do it if Cyren thought it would help her sleep, she was tempted to cancel their day of shopping so Ren could take a nap but she would refuse because they both needed a day away from the school. They also needed dresses for the dance and it would give them time to just be two normal teenage girls, they could talk about whatever they wanted and do whatever they wanted.

A groan was dragged from Cyren's lips as Marlee mentioned the fact they were going into town. Shit. Glancing down at herself, she shrugged- it was getting colder out, but if she put on a sweater she'd sweat and overheat. Not to mention she looked like a homeless college kid. "Totally slipped my mind what day it was. Oh well, doesn't matter to me. I'm just psyched to spend the day with you." Slipping her gaze towards Marlee she felt her gut twist with guilt. There was obvious worry on her friend's face- something she always hated to see. Again bumping her shoulder into Marlee the Hellhound offered a mellow smile- she was too tired for that impish energy. "Don't worry about me. I'm seriously gonna be okay. I'm just not used to sleeping alone and I'm paranoid I guess about a lot of stuff at night." That sounded better than saying she was paranoid of Thomas coming to control her mind to hurt someone she cared about like Marlee, Finn, or Daniel, or the hunters coming back to finish their job. "Don't let me and my insomnia ruin your day." Cyren managed an actual smile at this, as it was true. This day was supposed to help them relax.

It was supposed to help them get their minds off everything. “I could try and sneak into your room tonight, I hate that you’re still having trouble sleeping.” Offering a shrug Cyren felt she couldn't agree. They were keeping Marlee apart for her own good- and 'Ren refused to endanger that. Marlee's safety is, as it always had been, her biggest priority. "Nah, I'm alright. I hardly sleep when we're in the same dorm. I'd just keep you up. Plus it might not be safe. I'll see if a vampire can compel me into sleeping or see the witches or... Something." There was a note of disdain in her voice and her nose crinkled at the mention of witches. Her messy, crooked bun was low, brushing the half-exposed nape of her neck. Witches were so secretive and territorial of their abilities, and cocky as they always seemed to have a remark about witch power versus fae power. Yawning once again, bending her right arm at her shoulder while the left was left straight above her head the Hellhound felt a little more awake after her stretch. "Witches and vampires and fae oh my!" She quipped, snorting at her own little joke.

Kids were torn between getting ready, and just milling about; a lot of underclassmen were glaring longingly at the upperclassmen preparing to head out into town. She felt for them, it was rough watching other kids get a taste of freedom while you were stuck back at school. She remembered the feeling well enough. About to ask if she wanted to just grab coffee and eat in town, Cyren's speech faltered as her gaze caught a younger couple she didn't know- though the woman was what made her freeze. She was stretched up on her tiptoes much as... Much as she had been last night when bidding Finn goodnight. Suddenly her stomach twisted in the most unpleasant way, and for a moment her eyes widened like saucepans. Oh god, she wouldn't ever be able to face him again. She had just been so tired and acted and instinct and... And shit. She could transfer classes right? It wasn't too far into the semester. She had paused, feeling her gut sink. She didn't think he was one of the staff going to supervise the kids- unless he got roped in last minute. Feeling another student bump into her, she was jostled out of her trance; and snapped her gaze to Marlee and flushed red on her high, sharp cheekbones. "I need to change my name. Change schools. I messed up." She suppressed a smile at Cyren's antics and asked "Why what happened?"

Gently she tugged Marlee towards one of the connecting hallways that was pretty empty. Once she was sure they had privacy, Cyren glancing around with a frown she exhaled and her palm against her forehead as if feigning off a headache. "I kissed Finn." The hellhound blurted out, and peeking an eye open hurriedly tacked on, "On the cheek! On the cheek. You don't even know just... After training I was completely drained and tired and I just leaned up and kissed his cheek like it was no big deal and headed into my dorm. Like... I dunno it's what I would do with a friend or something- I mean I don't want to give the wrong impression and..." Honestly, she was horrified with herself. She hadn't meant for it to come across as romantic... It was just a little gesture; but she knew it would probably seem romantic. "He's not gonna teach me anymore and I'm not gonna graduate. Shit!" Cyren groaned; though Marlee seemed amused as she tried to convince Cyren that it wasn't as bad as she thought. "Ugh, now I really need that day out. D'ya think he's one of the staff taking us out? I hope not. I don't have training for the rest of the weekend though, so I can probably avoid him. Hopefully for the rest of the year as I've made an ass of myself." She was talking more to herself at that point, crossing her arms over her chest as she groaned. "Stupid hellhound wants to be cuddly when he's around- Gah I knew I should of been keeping a tighter reign on it."

    Daniel Roberts | Vampire

    Image

Daniel bit back a small smile as he took a sip out of the coffee laced with blood he'd made himself as he listened to Finn. So... She was his worry, but not a problem which was good. Daniel didn't see many staff trying to get on with the hot-tempered Hellhound; which was odd to him. Daniel saw her as a peer. She and him worked to keep Marlee safe, like the blonde fae's body guards. Cyren much overtly than he could ever be about it- which was good. Because Daniel could hand out detentions when he saw things happening; but Cyren could do much more. And in a common interest he'd come to think of her like a little sister. Someone with a personality similar to his own. It’s just Cyren, she’s this amazing young woman and yet no one gives her the attention she deserves. I just don’t understand how she’s gone for so long and no one has bothered to help her.” Now, being alive for a few centuries makes one pretty perceptive to a few things; one being tone of voice. Finn's whenever he brought up Cyren shifted to something more akin to a protective and passionate tone, laced with confusion. It was subtle enough he wasn't surprised the other staff hadn't picked up on it. And he doubted they would. He paused for a moment before glancing around the room. "You want my opinion on everything? I can tell you what I know about Cyren, and simply what I've noticed since you got here." Falling quiet for a minute he began with what Finn's original question was.

"Fear. They're scared of her and since she's not stupid, quite the opposite, she knows how they feel and that hasn't helped with her accepting what she is- or her flames." Daniel stated finally after taking a little sip. Around them the staff room was clearing out, teachers trying to get things done before the kids were taken out. He wouldn't be going. It was sunny out and he would burn up, so he couldn't. Instead he was slated to simply relax, catch up on some grading work, and hopefully some Bob's Burgers. "Look, what Cyren is- a lot of people don't understand it. She doesn't understand which makes her that much more of a loose cannon. And trust me, you didn't know her when she was just a freshman. She was really difficult. I don't know that much about abilities and shifting, it's not something I've dabbled a lot in. But other teachers just see a sharp-tongued sarcastic and hormonal teenager and figure she's too much work." There was a note of disdain in his voice, and Daniel swore he saw Finn's hands tighten around his mug for a moment. "But, it's obvious she looks up to you. You're personalities seem to work well together, and I don't think I can stress the point she trusts you enough. So you're doing something right. You know, just in case the month you've been here and she's already working on two flames and hotter flames wasn't enough proof." This time it was gratitude that was echoed in the vampire's words. He really had no idea where to start teaching Cyren. He wouldn't, hell Daniel barely knew about Fae magic which he had been trying to brush up on to help Marlee.

There simply wasn't enough text on Hellhounds to help Cyren as well. And it didn't help that her parents were murdered at too young of an age for them to really teach her anything. Dropping his voice lower Daniel added, "She's had it rough, a lot of kids have. To me, we play around now, but we used to butt heads a lot." Daniel paused thinking of a way to explain it was because Cyren could quite... possessive over people and she didn't trust Daniel; convinced he wanted to just use Marlee which was honestly abhorrent. Once she realized that Daniel wasn't trying to eat, steal, or otherwise harm her only friend at the time- she'd relaxed around him. "But... Even though it took awhile I earned her respect, and while it may not be professional I see her like a little sister. With her attitude, it's easy for teachers to just decide she's not worth the trouble of training. She's too far untrained to make a difference kind of thing. They see her rough edges and don't chip away long enough to get to the polished part of her. All in all she's a good kid Finn. Some staff around here really suck, but what's important is you're here now and hopefully she'll graduate on time and she'll go on to do whatever it is she's supposed to. Did she do something? That why you're asking? She's got a good heart, but god she can be a troublemaker sometimes." His eyes remained sharp and alert on Finn's face as the younger man answered.

After he was done speaking and Daniel had just shrugged. "I don't imagine her purposely causing trouble for you Finn. Sometimes her teasing get's a little out of hand, but she'll stop if you tell her." Daniel instructed wisely, god know's he had enough experience. In about an hour the kids would head out, well the day groups- the ones that could go out in sun. Taking a sip of his now tepid coffee Daniel wrinkled his nose. "Anyway whatever kept you up, I find it's best to just quickly resolve it as best you can." Daniel advised, having an inkling that it pertained to a certain Hellhound. Daniel was just curious to know what she had done. He was almost tempted to ask, but didn't want to scare Finn off who seemed jittery. So instead he switched subjects giving him a room to breathe. If he wanted to bring up the hellhound with a more direct question, Daniel would be fine with that. It didn't matter one way or the other to him. "Er.. I'm sorry about yesterday. The vampire ability class is just so big it's hard to keep an eye on them all. I know that thanks to Marlee no one got hurt, but I just want you to know that int the future I'll make sure to be keeping a closer eye on those two." He hadn't gotten a chance to say it yesterday, though he had meant to. And it felt like it was a situation that warranted an apology out of him or Callum.

    Finn Huxley | Basilisk
    Image

Finn sat there holding the warm mug between his hands, he did want Daniel’s honest opinion because he was the only staff member that actually had taken the time to get to know Cyren. So if Finn wanted advice then it was the older vampire that he would need to ask, so he sat there silently as he listened to every single word that Daniel was speaking. “I know that she’s had a tough life, she actually told me about what happened not that long ago. I mean I knew that her parents had been killed but I really had no idea in what way it all happened,” He told the vampire honestly as he did feel horrible that Cyren had to go through something like watching her parents be murdered, he knew the supernatural community had failed her during the attack and afterward but that tended to happen a lot as the community couldn’t always be there for others. He knew that first hand and apparently it hadn’t changed much from when he was younger to when Cyren was growing up, it was another subject that made his blood boil because it was the main reason why so many species were dying off. Creatures weren’t being there to help other creatures that were different to them, and it was sad really.

Finn knew that the staff were scared of the brunette Hellhound, which hadn’t been helping Cyren at all. In fact it was a large factor of why Cyren hadn’t learnt how to control her Hellhound or her flames, if the staff were scared of her then she must have thought that there was a good reason for them to fear her. Hellhounds were a creature to be feared, but he saw Cyren as someone the staff would want to help so she wouldn’t be a Hellhound that couldn’t control her flames. That made perfect sense to Finn, but apparently he was the only person to think in that way. Although Daniel did give him an insight on the Hellhound, Cyren didn’t know much about herself and what she was. It was something Finn needed address in their extra training sessions, maybe if she learnt more about Hellhounds than it would help her in learning control and not being so nervous around her flames. But the question was, could he actually find books or information on Hellhounds that he could share with Cyren? He wasn’t sure but he did know that the school library wouldn’t have books, or if there were than Cyren would have already read through them.

Disgust flashed over his dark muddy eyes when Daniel mentioned that the other staff found Cyren to be too much work, no student should be too much work for any of the Professor’s. This is why they became Professor’s, so they could help students and teach them everything that the young kids needed to know about the world they lived in. But he let go of the disgust as he couldn’t change what has happened in the past, he just knew that he would be changing a lot for Cyren now because he did care about her. “I hope she doesn’t stop trusting me, I care about her and I really want to help her. She will do so much in the world and I would hate to see her stay back for another year, just because no one has taught her how to control herself.” He sipped his black coffee as he listened to Daniel, he was glad that Daniel and Cyren had a sibling type relationship going on between them because he imagined that is something Cyren needed more times then she would care to admit to anyone. “Thanks man, we just had a little misunderstanding last night after we finished her extra training sessions. I’ll talk to her about it later,” He knew she was heading into town for the day and he didn’t want to ruin it by speaking with her that morning, besides Finn knew the kiss was harmless because of the fact that Cyren was so tired she couldn’t help but lean into him for support.

Then Daniel apologized which Finn just brushed off straight away, “Honestly I was pissed when it all happened. But thanks to Marlee, nothing did come from it and I understand. I have a smaller group and yet some days I feel like I’m not controlling any of the students, they’re young and stupid so they will do risky things. Hopefully everyone has learnt from it, but it’s fine really.” Finn didn’t want Daniel to feel bad about what happened yesterday, but it was nice that he apologized even though it wasn’t needed in Finn’s opinion. He took another sip of his coffee to find that it was cooling down, which Finn hated so he made sure to quickly finish off the dark bitter liquid before it got anymore cold and he would refuse to drink it. He was glad that he wasn’t one of the teachers that were taking the students into town, this day was about finishing his marking and he might even sneak in a nap as he knew he would need it throughout the day. “Are you ready for the dance? Do I need to be warned about anything or anyone?” He asked as he had overheard that Daniel had been the dance a few times in previous years, so he wanted to be prepared for anything that could happen.
    Marlee Hudson | Fairy
    Image

Marlee would never stop worrying about Cyren, the Hellhound was her best friend and has been since they were young. Cyren was like a sister to Marlee and nothing would stop the blonde fae from protecting her only friend at the school, “You will only ruin my day if you fall asleep while we’re shopping.” She smiled knowing that Cyren was trying her hardest, she listened as Cyren refused her offer to sneak into her room that night. Marlee would stay awake all night long if Cyren wanted to do, they have done it before and they did learn their lesson the next day. Marlee turned into a huge grump and snapped at everything, Cyren found it hilarious that Marlee would snap at a student for coughing or simply walking too slowly. After that one time Marlee never stayed awake as she behaved much better when she slept.

“You wouldn’t go to the witches, even if you were dying. We all know just how you feel about them, and the only vampire you like is Professor Roberts.” Marlee smiled as it didn’t mean she couldn’t go visit the witches for Cyren, she would need to do that when she got a spare second to see if they could help Ren with her sleeping. But it would be tough to find the time, between school, spending time with Cyren and hanging out with Daniel but she was positive that she would find some time. But suddenly Cyren seemed to remember something and she stopped walking, "I need to change my name. Change schools. I messed up." Ren told her so of course, Marlee asked her what had happened. She was pulled aside so they could speak in privacy, Marlee didn’t know what to expect but it wasn’t that Cyren had kissed Finn. "On the cheek! On the cheek. You don't even know just... After training I was completely drained and tired and I just leaned up and kissed his cheek like it was no big deal and headed into my dorm. Like... I dunno it's what I would do with a friend or something- I mean I don't want to give the wrong impression and… He's not gonna teach me anymore and I'm not gonna graduate. Shit!" Ren was slowly beginning to panic about this kiss but Marlee couldn’t help the smile on her face, it was adorable how Ren was reacting.

“Calm down, Ren. I’m sure Professor Huxley will understand that it was an accident, you were exhausted and like you said, it’s something you do with a friend. You like Finn, he’s helping you so much and he’s a great guy. I’m sure it’s just you who is overreacting to this,” She assured her friend with a warm smile on her face, Marlee imagined that Finn wouldn’t have taken the kiss to mean anything other than a thank you. Sure it was pushing the limit but she was doing exactly the same thing with Daniel, she felt so guilty that she couldn’t tell Ren about her and Daniel in hopes that she wouldn’t feel so bad about kissing Finn on the cheek. She needed to tell Daniel about how bad she was feeling because she was lying to her only friend, “I haven’t heard that he was coming along today. Besides if he is, then it will give you a chance to explain yourself. Which I don’t really think you need to, just don’t start avoiding him. He’s taught you so much already, do you really want to stop now?” She asked looking at the small Hellhound standing in front of her, she knew Cyren wouldn’t actually want to stop having classes with Finn. She would just need to stop panicking and thinking about the little kiss.

"Stupid hellhound wants to be cuddly when he's around- Gah I knew I should of been keeping a tighter reign on it." Cyren complained causing Marlee to wrap her arms around the brunette’s shoulders, “Accidents happen. Trust me on that, you’ve always held the Hellhound back but it’s cute that you want to cuddle with him.” Marlee couldn’t help herself, she found it so damn cute that Cyren was developing a crush on a man. Someone that she got along with well and who seemed to care about her already, Finn had done so much in the month he had been there and it was more than all the other Professors had done since Cyren arrived at the school. Which meant so much to them both because Marlee had seen the fear in the eyes of Professor’s whenever Cyren had been around them, and it still caused anger to fill the fae’s small body and she thought nothing of Finn when he arrived. She thought he would act the same way as the other’s, but was she proved wrong and she was glad that she had been proved wrong. “How about you stop worrying about this kiss and we get ready to head into town? You’ll feel much better once we get away from school,” She told her friend knowing they really needed this day together, so they could just relax and have some fun.
