Melody sat in the hotel room she was sharing with her best friend of three years Callie. They were on a job hunting what looked like a pissed off ghost that was haunting the hotel it died in and of course Melody had decided that it would be a good idea to stay at that exact hotel to get a better idea of how the ghost worked. The redhead wanted to make absolutely sure the ghost was actually a ghost and not a ghoul or something worse. Melody plopped down on the small twin sized bed, staring at the tv to the left of her. She figured she could watch tv to kill time but she was feeling lazy and didn't even want to change into her pajamas so she laid on the bed, sighing softly and she turned her head and stared at the ceiling.

"So, I think I'll go ahead and do some research at the library tomorrow, see if I can find anything out about this hotel and our potential Casper." Callie said as she walked out of the bathroom. She didn't exactly like the idea of staying in a potentially haunted hotel, ironic enough seeing as she freaking dealt with crap like this on a daily basis anyway, but this was kind of too cheesy horror movie for her liking. She normally shot Melody down when she had ideas like this one, however the blonde chose to give the redhead the benefit of the doubt on this one and at least give it a go.
"Run everything by me one more time before we get to the house." Dean said as he drove down the highway. He and Sam had come across a rather freaky article online a few days ago, and it certainly seemed like their kind of thing. He knew that things were still a little tense between him and his brother, Sam was still kind of upset that Dean had sold his soul in exchange for his life, but it was clear that he wanted at least a little bit of normalcy right now seeing as he'd been pretty damn ready to jump right back into things.

"The murders always happen two floors above us to men that look the same," Melody stated. "So stop worrying Callie. We're fine." She could tell her friend was worried about her choice in where they were staying. The hotel was technically cheaper than even the most rundown of motels the town had so it was a smart move for the hunters since money was always an issue because hunting things that go bump in the night didn't pay well, hell it didn't pay at all.

"I printed what I already found online in my bag if you wanna look through it," Melody mumbled. Out of the two of them the redhead was more about being overly prepared and would end up printing out novels of history on cases just so she and Callie would be screwed over. It helped out a lot that she had learned how to hack computers and a few others things from her older brother before he died.
"The murders at the Hotel Coronado go back to the mid eighteen hundreds," Sam stated. "The first murder was a teenage girl by the name of Abigail Price who refused a carpenter's hand in marriage. The carpenter was arrested for the murder but never charged formally with the crime." Sam looked up from the documents he had saved on his laptop, scrolling down as he began reading more of the information to Dean. "The murders from the article we found have been happening at the hotel started in 1925 and it looks they start on the day of Abigail's murder and last two weeks which was when her killer was arrested."

"Until we piss off whatever ghost is haunting this place and then it decides to take two women as its next victims." Callie said, flopping down onto the bed. She really wasn't nearly that scared, she was just being a pain in the ass really. "I'm kidding, I know we probably don't have anything to worry about. This place just gives me the creeps." She grabbed the remote, and started flipping absentmindedly through all of the channels. "It is a lot nicer than most places we would normally stay though, I'll give you that much." She supposed the cheap rates were primarily caused by the lack of people willing to stay there because of the murders. For two hunters looking into said murders though, well, it was a perfect opportunity really.

"Always gotta be over-prepared." The blonde mumbled, getting up and crossing the room to open up Melody's bag. She pulled out the papers and walked back over the bed, beginning to read through them. "Seems to me like Abigail Price might be seeking revenge for her murder...do we have a picture of this carpenter? Or maybe even a sketch? I think that'll really give us the answers we're looking for."
"Sounds to me like Abigail Price might be a little pissed off that the carpenter wasn't charged for his crimes." Dean said as he drove. This definitely seemed like their kind of thing, he'd be really surprised if it wasn't and it was just some weird psychopath or something. Normally when he and Sam thought it was their kind of thing, it ended up being their kind of thing. Rarely did it ever turn out to be some psycho or anything like that. "What do you say, Sammy? Wanna stay at a haunted hotel? I'm sure the room where the last murder happened is vacant." He chuckled slightly. "I'll be surprised if we don't get some crazy EMF readers up in there."

"Maybe the ghost just likes women more than men," Melody suggested. "I mean they are a hassle thinking with the wrong head most of the time." She nodded understandingly when Callie note the hotel gave her the creeps, the redhead had goosebumps on her arms still and they had been in their room for at least two or three hours. Melody heard Callie's remark about being over-prepared sending her a cheeky grin as she readjusted on the bed so she was sitting up, propped against the pillows. "Halfway through the novel is a painting the dude had commissioned of him and Abigail," Melody answered. "He's looks like a super old perv."
Sam nodded absently at his brother's comment about the ghost. He was silently reading through the research on his laptop, trying to stay focused on the case versus fixating on the fact after the year was up his brother would be drug down to hell unless they found something to stop or break the deal. "Already ahead of you," Sam replied. "I booked us in the room while you were shoving your face with that burger earlier."

Callie shrugged. "Yeah, I guess that could be true." Her friend wasn't wrong. Most guys did think with the wrong head and were total dickwads. She knew that not all men were this way though, but there were quite a few of them out there who were. She'd met a few decent guys over the years, though they almost paled in comparison to Sam. Sam Winchester had been her first love, and she supposed what they said was right about first loves. One never truly forgets them. She was taken from her thoughts when Melody told her there was a portrait of the dude in the novel. She filed through the pages, making a face when she saw what he looked like. "No wonder she turned down his marriage proposal! That guy's at least fifty."
"Hey, that burger was delicious. We can't all survive on rabbit food like you do." Dean retorted. Of course, maybe he'd been indulging in the fast food a bit more now that he knew that he likely only had a year left before his ass was sent down to Hell. He knew that Sam still wanted to find a way to get him out of the deal, but he wasn't about to sit back and become a health nut. He wouldn't even be doing that if he had more than a year to live. "Well, here we are. Hotel Coronado." He said as he drove the Impala into the parking lot of the hotel

"This is why I'm glad I wasn't born back then," Melody stated. "I mean yeah I get more soulless ginger jokes than I would back then but I don't get bartered like a freaking goat now." The redhead definitely had a love hate relationship with history, most of it being hate when it came to how women were treated like currency to be traded and sold. She got of the bed, unable to deal with wearing jeans anymore. She grabbed a change of pajamas from her bag, going into the bathroom and quickly changed. When she walked back out she grabbed a small bag of potato chips from the snack pile she had set up earlier. "The painting is in the room the men are commonly found dead in. Do you think she's in it?"
Sam scoffed. "You could you just choose to clog your arteries instead." He looked up from his computer, giving Dean a look that wordlessly said he already knew why Dean was overdoing everything because of what he had done. The younger Winchester shut his laptop when Dean announced they had arrive, placing it back in his bag and got out of the car. He grabbed his duffle bag full of clothes from the back seat of the impala, checking to see if his phone had any messages on it before he slung the bag over his shoulder, making sure Dean was behind him and headed inside.

"In some countries women still do though." Callie pointed out as she pulled her long blonde locks up into a pony tail. She loved her long hair, but it sure did annoy the crap out of her sometimes, and right now happened to be one of those moments. "It's a distinct possibility. We might want to have a look see and check for ourselves." She didn't think anyone would be dumb enough to stay in that room after the recent murders. Setting the book down, she looked in the snack pile and frowned, seeing a lack of her favorite candy. "Dude, you forgot the Reese's!" She stood up and shrugged on her jacket, fishing some loose change out of one the pockets. "I think I saw a vending machine down in the lobby somewhere, are we missing anything else?"
Dean noticed the knowing look that his brother sent his way. He clearly knew why Dean was overdoing, well, everything, but Dean wasn't about to talk about that right now. He knew that the conversation would end up going south like it normally did, and he really didn't want to deal with it at the moment. They were working this case for a reason, to distract themselves from the real problem at hand. "I never choose to eat healthy, Sam, and I never will." Was his quick response before getting out of the Impala. He grabbed his duffle bag as well before following his brother inside.

"I had to keep it under thirty bucks so the card company didn't raise a red flag," Melody stated. She knew she could just transfer a bunch of money to an account so Callie and herself would be set but she was out of practice with hacking so she didn't want to risk it so simple credit card fraud was what she did. "I forgot peanut m&ms too," she stated. She grabbed her laptop, turning it on so she could listen to music while she did more research. It was a normal ritual for the redhead at that point, music and research and then hunt the things that go bump in the night with Callie and repeat.
Sam walked to the front desk, getting them checked into the room, rolling his eyes when he noticed the girl at the front desk was getting flirty with Dean. Of course he had his share of girl's who flirted with him as wel but it was much more consistent with his brother and of course Dean never seemed to mind it and more often than not encouraged the flirting by flirting back.

"It's all good, I'm sure the vending machine will have some." Callie said. She understood where her friend was coming from. They didn't need any red flags with any credit cards companies. "Alright, I'll see if it has any of those too. Don't go making any amazing discoveries without me." Sending a wide grin the redhead's way, the blonde stepped out of their room, heading over to the elevator so she could go down to the lobby. She'd probably only be a few minutes, or she assumed that she would be. Little did she know that there was a major blast from the past currently checking into the hotel.
Dean followed his brother inside and over to the front desk. He immediately noticed the flirty smile the receptionist sent his way and responded with a wink, causing her to giggle. She was cute, and he wouldn't mind the little distraction on the case. He knew that Sam was probably going to be a buzzkill about it though. The way he saw it though, he only had a year left to enjoy all of this and he planned on enjoying thoroughly.

Melody playfully rolled her eyes, opening iTunes up and began blasting Led Zepplin from the laptop speakers. She gave Callie a smile before she began singing along to the Black Dog, pulling up the Internet on the laptop and began googling any and all names related to the case. The redhead liked being super thorough so nothing bad could happen to either herself or Callie.
Sam rolled his eyes again when he realized Dean was going to flirt, leaving his brother at the front desk and headed towards the elevator. He wasn't going to stand around and watch his brother flirt his way into another chick's pants. Sometimes it shocked Sam that his brother hadn't caught something from his hook ups. Then again his brother was probably smarter than he gave him credit for in that part of his life.

Callie really hoped that there were Reese's in that damn vending machine. She'd be really bummed out if there weren't any. When the door's of the elevator opened up into the lobby, she was quick to walk out, managing to walk straight into someone in the process. "Shit, I'm really sorry." She said, backing away to get a better look at whoever she had just nearly ran over. He was tall, though most people were taller than her 5'0" stature, and her eyes widened slightly when she looked up and saw an all too familiar face. "Sam?"
Dean was flirting away with the girl at the front desk, and he didn't even notice Sam walk away and make his way over to the elevator. When he heard someone apologize, he glanced over his shoulder, seeing a tiny blonde talking to his brother. Go, Sammy! He thought to himself, unable to see the blonde's face. If he had, he would have recognized her immediately. Callie Fontaine and her father had spent an entire summer hunting with him, Sam and their dad. It might have been years, but it was hard to forget someone who was practically like a little sister to you.

Melody got bored of doing research halfway through Stairway to Heaven and decided to go downstairs to ask some questions about the murders from
the hotel staff. She turned her laptop off, changing into a different pair of clothes and grabbing her fake fbi badge before she grabbed her room key and left the room. She took the elevator down, extremely intrigued when she saw Callie talking to a tall long haired guy. She cleared her throat to make her presence known, giving Callie a questioning look when she looked her way.
Sam opened his mouth to apologize to the person he bumped into his eyes widening when he recognized the person in front of him. The younger Winchester opened his mouth to say Callie's name when he heard his escape her lips. "Yeah," he replied, the corners of his lips twitching into a small vague smile. "It's me." He opened his arms slightly, hoping she would take the gesture of wanting a hug as a friendly one since the way they had seperated at the end of that summer was bad thanks to his dad.

Callie smiled, quickly accepting the gesture as she hugged him. "It really is you." She mumbled. She couldn't believe it. It had been years since she'd last seen him. Things between them hadn't necessarily ended on the best note that summer, but that didn't mean that she wasn't happy to see him. It was kind of ironic really seeing as he'd crossed her mind not too long ago. Hearing someone clear their throat behind her caused her to pull away. Glancing over her shoulder, she saw Melody standing there. "Melody, this is Sam Winchester...he's an old friend."
Dean became pretty intrigued when he saw his little brother embrace the tiny blonde. "Excuse me...Jenny." He said, after looking at the front desk girl's name tag. He crossed the lobby over to where his brother was standing, noticing a pretty redhead had just joined them as well. When he got closer, he was able to get a better look at the blonde's face. "Well, I'll be, if it isn't little Callie Fontaine." Dean said, grinning slightly. He watched as the blonde looked over and smiled before walking over to hug him. "Dean Winchester!" She said. Dean chuckled, hugging her back tightly. "It's nice to see you again, kid."

Melody almost instantly recognized Sam's name once it left Callie's lips. She had told her about the Winchesters and everytime the blonde had spoken about them she noticed she got this look, a kind of lovey dovey twinkle in her eyes when she talked about Sam. The redhead gave Sam a slight wave as a way of saying hello, her mind wondering where the other brther was. Of course before Melody could ask Callie exclaimed Dean's name and hugged him. Melody bit down on the inside of her lip, feeling like the odd one out because she was the only one in the entire interaction that didn't really know anyone else.
"What are you two doing here," Sam asked. "Are you here because of the murders too?" He had a feeling Callie would always be a hunter and from the way her friend was dressed it looked like she was in disguise and about to ask people a few things. Sam watched Callie as she hugged his brother, still unable to get over how his dad had made them up and leave all those summers ago. He had been in love with Callie and a part of him probably always woulf be.

Callie couldn't believe it, it really was Sam and Dean. It had been years since she had last seen or spoken to either of the brothers, and she was honestly really happy to see both of them. She nodded in response to Sam's words. "Yeah, did you two just check in?" She asked as she pulled back from Dean's embrace. She stole a glance over to Melody, noticing that the redhead was much quieter than usual. "Melody's done a lot of research on the place, we think we might know what's going on here." She told the brothers.
Dean knew that things hadn't ended on the best note for the blonde and his brother. While the pair of them had both been young at the time, he knew that Sam had been in love with Callie and she him. Their dad making them up and leave like that was kind of a real dick move. That summer had been a while ago though, and a great deal had happened since then. He looked to Callie when she spoke, stealing a glance over to the redhead when she mentioned her name. Melody. Pretty and unique too. "I'm sorry, I should've introduced myself. Dean Winchester." He offered his hand to shake hers, sending a rather charming smile her way as well.

Melody eyed Dean's hand, giving him a polite smile instead of shaking his hand. She wasn't much for shaking hands with other hunters especially when she knew they probably used their hand just as much as they used women to get off. She gave Sam a polite smile as well, figuring from the look of the Winchester's that Sam was the one who did most of the research. "I'm going to assume you do more of the research," she spoke to Sam. "I have a bunch of information already. Maybe you and Callie can catch up while we swap information."
Sam bit back a chuckle when Melody didn't seem interested in Dean at all. It was definitely a nice change of pace from the usual. He listened to Melody speak, not able to stop the laugh that escaped his lips that time. "Yeah any help I can get would be great," he replied. Sam would be more than happy to get help with his research as well as catch up with Callie again. She had been his first love and he had hated himself for fighting his father more on leaving as abruptly as they had.

Callie watched with a slightly amused expression on her face at Melody's obvious disinterest in Dean. She knew that that wouldn't likely sit well with the oldest Winchester, and she was certain that this was all going to be rather interesting to say the least. "Awesome, lets head up to the room then. I'm assuming you boys just checked in?" She asked curiously as she started towards the elevator, the vending machine she'd come down to the lobby for in the first place long since forgotten. She'd have to thank her friend later for suggesting that she and Sam exchange information while they caught up. Callie knew that there was likely a lot to talk about.
To say that Dean was taken aback when she simply stared at his hand for a few seconds instead of taking it would be an understatement. He wasn't about to let on that it had caught him off guard though. No, he would act as though it hadn't phased him in the slightest. He mustered up a small smile and shoved his hand into his pocket instead. "Yeah, not even five minutes ago actually. We were heading up to our room when Sammy here nearly ran you over, Cal." He said, chuckling slightly.

Melody watched Callie and Sam interact, finding herself feeling uncomfortable watching the pair reunite. The redhead felt like this was a moment the two of them should be sharing alone, not with her awkwardly standing their and Sam's older brother not getting the hint they should be left alone. She sighed softly, rolling her eyes and decided to take one for the team for Callie's sake. She grabbed Dean's hands and tugged him towards the elevator. "Let's go smelly," she mumbled. Dean didn't smell bad at all it was really the only thing Melody could think to say at the moment. "C'mon let's give them some space," she mumbled quietly.
Sam smiled wide, listening and almost hanging off of every word she spoke. He had missed the blonde a lot and he was glad he had the chance to see and talk to her again. His attention was altered to Callie's friend as he saw her attempt to pull his brother towards the elevator's. He couldn't help the chuckle that escaped his lips as he watched the scene unfold in front of him. "How long have you been hunting with Melody," Sam asked.
