Aislin Lewisen | Naive ✘ Empathetic ✘ Aloof
    Image

The past few days had been traumatic for Aislin Lewisen to say the least. She had expected to spend her Summer on the beach, spending time with her boyfriend and looking for a job as she'd recently completed her college course. She hadn't been expected to be kidnapped, held for ransom by some muscular, tattooed men in exchange for her father to pay off whatever debt he owed the criminals that abucted her... Well first to understand she should back up. Two days ago, Aislin was supposed to be babysitting her younger half-brother Colton when her life was violently and terrifyingly uprooted. There were a few things that Aislin would rather be doing than watching Colton during her summer break. She'd rather be looking for jobs so she could finally move out of her father's home in sunny California. She'd rather be with her boyfriend, and his loud obnoxious roommates, or curled up with a good read and planning nights out with her friends. But no, Colton's mom had left last year and her dad was trying to keep his business chain afloat so they could keep the nice, expensive house they lived in.

Colton's mom took off when the business began doing poorly... So Aislin had become a sort of parental figure for the six year old. She had been sitting on the couch of their home Colton next to her his large aquatic eyes trained on the episode of Thomas she'd put on for him. Everything was going well, their cat Nelson, was sitting on Colton's lap; and it seemed like in a matter of seconds her world got flipped upside down. They weren't halfway through Thomas when the door had been forced open, the cracking wood gaining her attention. Aislin didn't even have time to collect Colton and run towards a safer spot before five men flooded into her living room, clad in black with hoods and bandannas covering any defining features. What caught her attention though, were the guns they held in their hands, and instinctively she leaped to her feet, standing in front of Colton to shield him from whatever was about to happen. "...There's two of them." One man remarked to her far left, he was tall and had piercing rusted color eyes while the man in front just grunted. Was this a robbery?

"Take whatever you want." Aislin managed to grit out, quite pleased with herself that she hadn't vomited or lost her composure with fright. With four guns trained on her and her brother Aislin had no idea what was going on, but they didn't move towards anything they owned; no instead they were watching her and the tentative head of Colton, which had poked around her hip to survey the men with large eyes. A whimper escaped her brother and Aislin forced herself to maintain as much visual as she could on these men in her home. "The smallest one would be easiest to take." One man remarked, the one in front his voice deep and gruff; and it made the delicate hairs on her arms stand up with fright. Take Colton? No... No they couldn't he was just a kid! Take one of them where? And why?! "Pl-please don't take Colton. I'll go. Whatever it is you want, I'll go." Her voice burst from her before Aislin fully realized what she offered. But feeling her brother's tiny hands tighten around her wrist, dangling by her hip, she knew it was the right choice. For the first time it felt like their gazes fell onto her and she wanted to squirm away from them.

Wanted to run, but knew it was impossible. What did they want? They weren't rich, and if they thought her dad could pay a huge ransom for her- they were wrong. None of the men said anything but after a nod from the most obviously muscled man, the one to her immediate right stepped forward gun trained evenly on her. "Fine. Say goodbye to your brother." He consented while the man who had stepped forward pulled her wrists together behind her back, zip-tying the slender pale wrists together to the point she hissed in pain. Lips trembling she turned her head to her brother, his large eyes wide with fright. "Colton, you call Dad after these men leave. Okay? He'll figure out what to do. I- I'll see you later and I love you." Aislin promised, trying to sound as strong as she could; though her body was still spinning in confusion. What was happening?! Why were they taking her?! What did they want?! Whatever it was she could not let it happen to Colton. Her brother said nothing, though nodded. "Don't call the cops." The biggest man, who seemed to be the leader growled at her brother before jerking his head towards the door.

A gentle shove from behind, though tight enough she stumbled had her moving towards the door and had it not been for the man who'd tied her up, she would of fallen on her face. After that she had been thrown into a car, blindfolded while the men explained that her father owed them money- and if they weren't paid; she didn't get to go home again. She didn't know if Colton called the cops, but they never came. Not in the past two days she'd been... Wherever she was. The car ride was actually pretty quiet, and Aislin was hoping as long as she did what they said, should it not be degrading or harmful- she'd be okay. Aislin didn't fight the blindfold, didn't speak just sat squashed between a man who cracked jokes every so often to the men, and the one who had tied and led her to the car. The one with a piercing gaze the color and intricacy of a peacock feather, embedded with emeralds and moss. He kept a tight grip on her wrist, as if she was stupid enough to try to crawl over someone's lap, open the door with her handcuffed hands and roll out. The car felt like it was going to fast anyway. She wanted to spit for him to take his hands off, though couldn't. She didn't know their tempers and didn't want to raise their ire. It wasn't until the car stopped, after what felt like a couple hours, and the blindfold was tugged off did she speak.

With large bi-colored orbs she gazed at the home more like palace- who exactly were these guys and how did her father get involved with them???! in stony silence. "Are you going to kill me?" She finally asked as she was being herded in, eyes blinking rapidly against the harsh sunlight. They'd taken their hoods down and bandannas off, revealing their faces. Most of them she would of considered handsome had they not just kidnapped her. "No. That doesn't mean we don't have plans in case your old man falls through though." The one who seemed to be second in command spoke, his dark rusted eyes flashing at her. Shuddering, Aislin was pretty that she didn't even want to know what that meant for her. Biting her lip as she was led through the maze-like home towards a first story bedroom she'd been tossed in there, and released from her bonds. The one who brought her in said nothing; just turned and locked the door on his way out, locking her in. There was one tiny window, too small for her to climb out of and a bathroom, tiny and reeking of bathroom cleaners. They had come once more that day, leaving a bowl of soup for her, though didn't stick around leaving Aislin alone again. And she couldn't decide if being alone was better than being with one of them. The comely redhead didn't know how she managed to fall asleep that night, and how late though she figured they'd probably roofied her food or something. She'd woken up around noon, her hair in a tangled mess, while the small shorts and tanktop had ridden up her pale frame.

That's where she was currently, leaning against the door pounding furiously with small fists. There was no shampoo or conditioner in the shower, and she wanted some fresh air- clean clothes would be nice too. "Hey! Hey! I need some things! You can't just leave me in here all day! I have human rights!" The strawberry haired girl shouted, a few tresses of hair falling forward, obscuring her right eye. To her shock and surprise the door was flung open by an averaged sized man, the one with the pretty green eyes and he did not look too happy. Before he could tell her to shut up, she launched into her demands. "Hey! The least you can do is give me some clean clothes, fresh air and proper showering materials like soap, shampoo and conditioner. Maybe a crosswords puzzle or a book? I'm not an animal and therefore I won't be treated as such." She leveled at him, managing to sound pissed and aloof all at once while her heterochromia gaze was narrowed with displeasure. This was the first time she'd seen someone today, Aislin had been asleep when they must of stopped by to give her some sort of Thai leftovers. He didn't say anything and trying to appear as menacing as possible she growled, "So help me if you leave me in here without anything, or at least letting me take a walk outside I'll... I'll... I'll bang on that door until I bang a hole through it or my hand falls off." It was a dangerous bold move, threatening a man she didn't know, whom had kidnapped her. Hopefully, he wouldn't hit her, or just slam the door and leave her in that room again.

Matthew "Shadows" Sanders was nothing else if not a businessman, and like all other businessmen he was in the business of making money. So when he offered his... services to his clients, protection, hits, drugs, and weapons. Whatever they wanted, he had it so long as they could pay him. He wasn't exactly a kingpin for nothing. However, when clients took from him without paying he got very, very mad. Such was the case with Teddy Lewisen. A man who bought Matt's protection, a man who had even ordered a hit on a rival businessman. And after months of trying to collect with no avail, he decided to take action. Matthew knew for a fact that Teddy had a son, one he cherished very much. And there was nothing like a kidnapped child to urge a parent to find money to payback a debt. But things hadn't gone as planned. After months of careful planning there was a hiccup, Teddy's daughter who Matt assumed was in college as that's what he had gathered, was home watching the brother. With a quick calculation, and a slight influence of empathy he took her instead of the kid. Sicced Zacky on babysitting duty and waited to hear back from Teddy. It had taken only a few hours for Teddy to call him, desperate and pleading for the girl's release, and Matt had given him an ultimatum. Pay up by this time next month or his daughter would never see her family again.

Which was gracious, as Matt wasn't a lenient man. And Teddy knew he'd make good on his word. The girl was attractive enough, he could keep her around the house for servitude as he did with other's who couldn't pay their debts to him, or were collateral damage. There were several faces around here, that were kept for the same reason. Slaves, servants, indentured help- whatever you wanted to call it. There were only a couple as of now, Matthew didn't like too many prying eyes around the house. It made him antsy, and he valued privacy at any rate. The past two days had been trying, the Lewisen girl hadn't caused too much trouble, held her tongue, didn't say anything too irking- a decent enough prisoner. Today, was his "off" day. Matt didn't like to work weekends, and Saturday's he refused to do anything at all. Thus why he didn't roll out of bed until ten, leisurely making his way towards their kitchen, ignoring any of the servants he passed on his way. None of them really mattered to him save for Lilia. She was pretty much his personal servant, he had taken the time to train her, how her how he liked his food cooked, room and house cleaned, and whatever else he needed. He could be firm with her, but didn't really push her into degrading acts, or anything of the sort. Matt wasn't that kind of man.

Padding into the kitchen, clad in his pajama pants, though no shirt or shoes the brunette ruffled through the fridge, stomach turning. There was some takeout, some leftover soup from last night, and plenty of uncooked stuff. Lilia should be around, and Matt would just have her make his breakfast. Shutting the door turning around Matt began to lumber towards the living room. People tended to gather there and he figured that would be a good place to begin looking for Lilia. The muscular man's mood was somewhat foul, as he was still pretty upset with Teddy owing him money and having yet another mouth to feed in the home for a time being, another person to deal with when he wandered into the living room. Sure enough, Lilia was there staring out the large windows. Matt would of been concerned had it been anyone else. But Lilia had been there the longest, and Matt trusted her... Kind of. "Lilia, go fix some breakfast. Something simple, eggs and toast simple." Matt instructed, leaning against the door frame crossing his muscular arms across his broad chest; a lazy, apathetic look staining his otherwise handsome features. Her head snapped up as her gaze landed on him and she nodded. "Yes." The woman answered simply.

Which was smart, he wasn't looking for conversation and she'd of gotten a sharp tongue had she spoken in a manner that tried to rouse one. Like a hulking shadow he trailed her back to the kitchen sliding into a stool at the island. Nothing was said, but it didn't have to be, Lilia knew him and her duties well enough that she set to work. A pot of coffee was put on, and eggs were grabbed from the fridge along with bread from the breadbox. "Scrambled." Matt instructed before she could make anything else, a scour on his face as the brunette stared off into the distance. It wasn't until about ten minutes later a hot mug of coffee was slid in front of him did he glance up, feeling somewhat more social. "I'm sending Brian out later for a shopping trip. Write up a list of what needs to be bought before he goes or it won't get bought until next trip." The heavily tattooed man advised as a plate of food was slid in front of him. Waiting a few minutes for the food to cool down his gaze followed Lilia as she began to wash the few dishes she made, and thoughtfully shoved a loaded fork of scrambled eggs into his mouth. There were two other girls who "worked" here, though they usually could be found tending to Brian or Johnny's needs. They were more demanding than he was.

"If you haven't eaten, make yourself something." Matt commanded, his own way of expressing concern for his servant. In a brooding manner he turned back to his food, taking his time finishing it. At one point he noted Zacky walking by, his hair sticking up in several directions indicating he'd just woken up, heading to the room which they were keeping Aislin in. But, he didn't say anything as the smaller man passed by the kitchen, and instead flickered his gaze back to Lilia who was watching with quiet interest. "New girl. You remember, she came yesterday. Zacky's watching her." Matt informed. Again, this was a slight indication of his trust in the servant. Normally he didn't speak to those who weren't his immediate friends, or clients. And even though he spoke to her time to time, he really didn't know what she thought of him. Matt could be a whole lot worse. Sure, sometimes he had a temper, but he hadn't really physically hurt her. Eventually Matthew had finished his food, and left it for Lilia to pick up. It was a nice day out, he may go swimming. Or, he may just have Brian stay here and go out shopping himself. Hell, if he was feeling really gracious he'd have Lilia come along to help him pick out things and carry them to the car. Could be a nice bit of fresh air for the both of them, and it wasn't good for the servants to always be in the house, they needed a change of pace every so often as well. He'd check in with Brian and see if he was willing to stay back before he was supposed to go...

Zacky didn’t know how long he’d been asleep but he knew that’d been gone too long and he needed to feed the new girl and get her some things till he could trust her not to make a run for it. He went to the kitchen and grabbed a couple breakfast bars from the cabinet and three bottles of water for her, he then walked to the bedroom where he’d placed her the night before. The missions he was sent on weren’t his favorite, truth be told he just wished people would pay their dues like they had promised – but in most cases these girls would never see their families or freedom again. He opened the door and pushed her away from the door gently as he shut it behind him.

“Please shut up, it’s too early to hear you screaming in here like you’re being tortured when you know nothing about that kind of pain. Here is food, some water, and I’ll escort you to the bathroom so you can shower after you’re done,” he said to her as he sat in the armchair by the door – he couldn’t leave her till he’d done his job so the quicker this was over with the better. It wasn’t like he didn’t like looking at her, she pretty, and he could admire her from afar but the rules in the house were they weren’t to rape any women; it was something they all agreed on. The vile act was something worthy of death and Avenged Sevenfold would end anyone who harmed any of the female staff in their home. Of course the lucrative business of human trafficking was in their books and something that they could go to jail for, but they were in the business of making money – and they did what they had to to keep their reputation up and their street cred in the green.
Lilia hadn’t really known how much time had passed around the house, being here hadn’t been so bad except for the no freedom thing. She had been about seventeen years old when she’d come to work for M. Shadows – she had assumed the worst but the truth was being his personal slave she had it easier than others. The other girls were expected to everything necessary to keep the guys happy, whereas she had gotten lucky in that aspect and wasn’t expected to do sexual favors unless she so wished. Which she didn’t – she couldn’t imagine wanting Shadows to touch her, he wasn’t cruel to her but how could she ever trust the man who had killed her family. There were some things that just couldn’t be forgotten, and that was one of them in her books. Lilia was a straight A student with a scholarship to an Ivy League college – she had wanted to be a politician but that didn’t work out too well for her when Synyster and Vengeance had come into her home killing everyone in her family but her; she’d never been given a reason, and she knew better than to ask.

Lilia had seen what happened to mouthy girls in the house very early on, and it terrified her. She wasn’t sturdy by any means, she was short and thin and would easily be hurt due to the blow of a punch without a question. She didn’t want that kind of pain in her life so she just did what she was told without question; so long as she wasn’t forced to have sex with anyone. After she had finished washing dishes she made herself a boiled egg and a plate of fruit with a glass of milk while she began to plan out the grocery list. Every week there was a shopping trip and by now she knew what everyone in the house wanted or needed by heart, so she occasionally added a couple new things in case someone wanted to try it; since she was in charge of dinners she would meal plan from the cook books and go from there.

There were times when she’d been scolded for cooking a meal that one of them didn’t like, and she’d be forced to cook something else but it had only happened once or twice, and she had to say that she felt the verbal abuse was worse than physical. She hadn’t escaped physical abuse, there had been a couple time where she had been slapped for her incompetence, but Shadows hadn’t let it go too far.

    hope this is alright

Aislin Lewisen | Naive ✘ Empathetic ✘ Aloof
    Image

Her energy and will of appearing tough, unphased by the situation she found herself in was beginning to fade. The slender girl could feel her hands trembling as she clenched them into little fists. “Please shut up, it’s too early to hear you screaming in here like you’re being tortured when you know nothing about that kind of pain. Here is food, some water, and I’ll escort you to the bathroom so you can shower after you’re done.” Ignoring what he said she crossed her arms edging away from him, her eyes filtering down to the untouched breakfast bars which were held out to her, along with the water of bottles. Mistrust churned in her bones, what if there was something in the water that drugged her out again? Clenching her jaws tightly together the girl weighed her options. She'd had hours for the situation to sink in, and the complicity she felt before had been replaced by anger. Whatever her father had gotten into was his business. Not her's. They weren't exceedingly close, she barely lived there. She mostly lived with Ezra and his roommates. Cautiously she snatched the breakfast bar from him, doing her best not to let their hands graze, tearing open the bar and taking a small bite; her mind churning with ideas.

It would be useless to aggravate him, that would land her into trouble. She couldn't run. She had no idea where to run and she had the notion they weren't exactly in a busy place. If she got lost- well... Well that would be bad too. Quickly she let her gaze flicker over to him, going to the pocket of his jeans looking for some telltale sign of a phone. If she could sneak a phone off him and call the police, that may work. But she'd need to be quick, discreet. And his guard needed to be down for that to happen. And from the way he was sitting in the armchair watching her the way a hawk would a mouse; his guard would not be down for possibly the entirety of her stay here. Unless... Unless she gave him a reason to trust her. A friendly hostage was easier to trust than a hostile one; so with a soft sigh she dropped down onto her bed. "So... I guess my father got in over her head. It's funny, you think you know someone." She began, between bites, still focusing her gaze on the floor. "Sorry for shouting earlier I... I guess I just don't know the uh, procedures around here. Or the time."

Her voice wasn't quite friendly, because it would of been too obvious she was up to something. Hopefully she just came across as bored, wanting to chatter. Because if nothing else, even if he didn't ever trust her enough that she could do something to free herself; then it would help her survive. And above all, she just wanted to survive. Finishing the food she was given, setting the water aside she stood up. "Shower's up next, right?" Aislin kept her voice soft, meek almost as her head was slightly ducked as if in submission. She lasped into silence as the man stood, gripping her forearm firmly enough to let her know not to think about trying to run. And she wouldn't. Not yet. The moment his hand gripped her forearm however, Aislin tensed sucking in her breath sharply with something akin to fright. However, even when he didn't press harder on her delicate skin- she could not relax. All she saw of him was one of the men standing between her and freedom. Holding her for crimes that weren't her own against her will.

Sure he hadn't harmed her, but Aislin was sure he would. She heard all about men that kidnapped women and kept them chained up in basements and stuff. Sure, admittedly they just put her in a really, really, boring room- but she didn't doubt they were capable of that stuff. "So, if you're supposed to be babysitting me; what am I supposed to call you?" Trying to bait him into a conversation, the girl was for once thankful for her rather slender and unimposing figure. He wouldn't naturally perceive her as a threat. Just a scared girl trying to make sense of a bad situation. Aislin had a hundred other questions for him, like did that other one mean it when he said they wouldn't kill her? If he was telling the truth was it as bad as it had sounded? Would she rather be killed than live a life in captivity? Thankfully for him and woefully for her; the man had stopped in front of a door and after motioning to it she cautiously opened it. Sure enough he'd brought her to the bathroom and it was nice enough. Not like home though. The coppery haired woman's gut clenched at the thought of never seeing home again. Was anyone looking for her? Arranging her release? After he had showed her how to work the shower controls, she nodded pointedly glaring until he was out the door before undressing, stepping into the tepid water and praying that she got out of this mess alive with minimal trauma.

As usual, Lilia was quiet. It was normally one of the reasons he liked her presence; he could think and work without being disturbed. Recently though it had begun to feel more and more like distance and disgust. He never expected her to forgive him for how she came to work for him. But a job was a job. And he wasn't even supposed to spare her. There had been something in her eyes that Shadows stirred something in Shadows. Pity? Empathy? Guilt? Whatever it was he couldn't pull the trigger. Instead, and against the protests of the other guys, he'd taken her with him. It had always been easier for him and probably for Lilia to think that he had ruined her life. In a sense he had. But it was easier to think that than for her to entertain the thought that her dad had been a bad guy. There were plenty of people who wanted to see him and his perfect little family- dead. They had paid him, and he had done it. Mostly. Clearing his throat, pushing those thoughts from his head Matthew spoke in a sure and confident tone. "Go see the other girls. See if they have anything they need from the store. When you're done wait by the door." Not everyone got to go out in public.

Some girls just always tried to run, and therefore they weren't taken out. They got to walk around back. The yard was nice, a few trails, good property. A testimony to the sucsess of his... business. Once Lilia disapperaed to do his bidding, Matthew set to work on finding Brian. It wasn't hard, espeically when he heard splashing and shouting out back. Letting himself out through the living room's sliding doors the bulky man strode towards the poolside, where sure enough Brian and Jimmy were out there along with another girl who worked for them named Rosalie. When his second-in-command's gaze landed on him the slow smile fell off his lips to turn into something more serious as he swam for the ladder closing the distance. "What's up?" Clearly he thought something was wrong so Matt just shrugged. "Not much, just wanted to see if you were alright with me going out for food and stuff today and taking Lilia." Relaxing, his friend nodded easily. "Sure, go for it. Takes a load off my back." With that the man headed back towards the pool, slipping back into the waters again. With that squared away Matt decided to get ready. He'd showered this morning, but had just changed back into pajamas.

Confident that Lila was waiting for him by the door as he asked, or finishing grabbing the lists of what people needed, the dark haired man stopped by his room. His clothing was casual. A simple black t-shirt and a worn pair of jeans. Satisfied with how he looked, knowing he had a pair of sunglasses waiting for him in the car Matt headed back downstairs to wait for Lila so they could go. When they got back, he'd go and see how Zacky was handling the new girl. Yesterday she'd been too shell-shocked to determine if she was going to be a problem. A mouthy, problem. Shadows personally got easily frustrated with those kinds of prisoners, collateral, debts- call them what you would. Thus why he stuck Zacky with her. He was one of the more laid back of the group- though Johnny simply teased he was lazy. Rubbing his temples, not looking forward to the headache that business would bring Shadows was pretty curious if he'd even hear back from Teddy. He really didn't want or need a new face around the house, so if not- it would suck to be her. He had a few contacts who would be interested in a face like that. Shaking business thoughts from his head he glanced up as Lilia approached. "Ready?" It wasn't really a question. She was coming whether or not she wanted to- though he assumed it was the latter of those two options.

Snatching his keys off the keychain, Matt opened the door and ushered Lilia out before him. It was a security thing. He prefered her to be in front of him or next- as it would be harder to run. Even though he was sure she detested it, Matt would likely keep his arm around her shoulder to keep her from running anywhere. Though Lilia was smarter than that. He had plenty of friend in high places including some boys in blue. Just in case one of the girls ever did escape, Matt liked to have contacts that would keep him from spending any jailtime. One could never be too careful... Once she was seated in the large vehicle, Matt shut the door and hopped into the drivers seat; shoving the key into the ignition and starting the car. Out of the five he was probably one of the more reckless drivers, and it showed as he hurriedly pulled out of the driveway, his jawline set and firm. He knew for the most part this ride would be quiet, though in good gestures he motioned to the radio with one hand. "Put somethig on if you'd like Lilia." He was always a little awkward around her. What was he supposed to say? How's do you like living with the man that killed your family? It was the unspoken elephant in the room between them, and while he could kill a man without blinking- Matt was unsure of how to broach the subject with her.

"Go see the other girls. See if they have anything they need from the store. When you're done wait by the door." Shadows had spoken to her and she nodded then grabbed the note book and went to question the rest of the girls on if they needed anything in particular. While her stay here had been anything but pleasant she did had to say that the ladies in the house were more than taken care of, and she could complain as far as needs went; except for one. She was incredibly lonely – she had no one to talk to, or confide in, no one to hold her when she sobbed herself to sleep at night, remembering her parents dead bodies as she was dragged away to be his servant. None of it really made sense to her, why spare her? At the moment she had had a few reasons why Shadows would keep her alive, but she didn’t like to entertain the ideas much too often, actually if she could completely ignore the thought that tried to raid her head completely that would be great.

“Is there anything you need, Candice?” she asked Johnny’s one plaything, another job title she was happy not to have, doing anything remotely intimate with anyone in this house sent her into a panic attack; how could these girls just do it so willingly.

“Yeah, I need some new hair ties and bobby pins – I’m all out, and deodorant,” she said then began to rattle off the brand and scent she liked the most, it was an easy life anything you need you would get so long as it didn’t connect you to the outside world. No cellphones, laptops, or internet of any kind. There was the occasional moment when she’d catch Shadow’s watching television so she’d wait a little longer before she announced herself, she missed TV. She was sure her favorite shows had done many seasons by now, or ended or over all fell off the face of the earth. Many of the girls needed much of the same thing with a few differing items, she walked down stairs and went to wait by the door just as he had told her. Lilia had only ever once pissed Shadows off, and she vowed never to do it again, she didn’t like tempting fate because the ball was most definitely not in her court. All favor was for the opposing team and trying to switch that would easily get her killed.

“Ready?” She heard his voice sound as he began walking to her.

She gave a small nod as a reply then walked out the door first, when his hand touched her she felt instantly nervous; most girls would run given the chance but she wasn’t stupid. She had nothing to go back to, no money, no friends, no family – nothing. Why the hell would she try to leave to be on the run for the rest of her life, with no kind of comfort for the rest of her life? It seemed idiotic to her to even think of doing something like that. She climbed into the car and he shut her door then walked around to the other side.
"Put something on if you'd like Lilia." Lilia slowly reached for the radio knobs and turned it to one of her old stations then buckled her seat belt on and looked out the window. She felt nostalgic looking at the scenery as he drove by, all these people completely unaware that she was his hostage and she was grocery shopping with him. There was no way these people could ever imagine the kind of fear that had been stomped into her, to keep her from running, to keep her folding things correctly and cooking food just right. The kind of fear that seeps from your pores after a bad dream was something Lilia counted on to survive, it was a form of common sense.

“May I speak?” she asked as she looked at him, and he looked surprised.

    “Go ahead,” he said nodding.

“Can we buy cupcakes?” she asked gently, she hadn’t had any in such a long time she was just craving them something wild.
He looked at her for a moment waiting for her to take the bottles of water and bars from him, he really didn’t want to spend too much time with her. He didn’t know the outcome of her life so getting to know her or even talking to her at this rate was too dangerous, considering Zacky was one of the more understanding of the guys he had to be careful. He knew he could be easily read by these girls who wanted sympathies but he just couldn’t let them see. He stayed seated in the chair, he was always this way; what if something happened and she got away? Shadows would probably beat him to a pulp.

"So... I guess my father got in over her head. It's funny, you think you know someone." He could hear her talking but all he really wanted was to get her taken care of so he could go back to bed. It was nothing against her really, he just enjoyed his quiet time or time when he could sleep till he just couldn’t anymore. "Sorry for shouting earlier I... I guess I just don't know the uh, procedures around here. Or the time."

What was he supposed to say to this girl? There was nothing he could say that would settle the fear in her heart, nothing to keep her from freaking out one minute to the next because of something she sees or hears so he was going to do the one thing he could; he quiet, he’d let her panic later once he was gone preferably but he didn’t know how he could handle a young woman who was out of her mind upset. "Shower's up next, right?" He hadn’t even realized she’d been talking but he nodded to her then stood up. He gripped her forearm and began walking her down the hallway to the bathroom – where he would stand outside, keeping her in and anyone else out.

"So, if you're supposed to be babysitting me; what am I supposed to call you?"

“Zack, you can call me Zack ,” he told her, after he was promptly kicked out of the bathroom which he expected her stood just outside the door waiting to hear the water stop running, but he didn’t know how long that could take. He would just settle for locking her in there then leaving but if Brian found out he’d done that again he’d kick his ass.
