I'm Already Something to Someone that I Don't Know

Aaron sat on a low wall outside the school, legs crossed beneath him. He sat fiddling with his phone whilst he waited, opening and closing various apps then opening them again, just for something to do.

He had a long weekend, Friday classes cancelled and Monday a class free day anyway, so he'd decided to come down and surprise Lucy.

Cold from the stone wall was seeping through the denim of his jeans, making it feel almost damp, and he shifted about although it did nothing. The bell was sure to ring soon though, so it wouldn't be too long, and he turned his gaze from his phone to the school entrance as he waited.

Lucy sat in her last class of the day, staring off not really paying attention to the teacher. She couldn't help but wonder what her best friend Aaron was doing. When he left for univeristy not seing him everyday really sucked.

She looked up at the clock waiting for the bell to ring, thinking what she was going to do with her long weekend. Friday was a teacher inservice day.

Finally the bell rang and she gathered her stuff and headed for her locker. She threw her books in her locker, grabbed her jacket and purse and headed out the door. As she was walking she saw Aaron across the courtyard and lit up instantly. She ran over to him and jumped on him. "What are you doing here!?" She asked with a grin.

Aaron slid off the wall ad he spotted Lucy running over, lifting her when she jumped on him and twirling her round with a grin.

"Thought I might pop by, say hi," he said, smiling up at her, not yet putting her down. "See if you'd wasted away without my sunny presence to entertain you and all that."

He finally set Lucy down, draping an arm round her shoulders as he led her from the school grounds.

"How was school?" He asked. "Ready to leave and join me amongst my more senior ranks yet?" He paused and eyed her purse. "Bag heavy? Do you have much work to do?"

Lucy giggled softly as he spun her around. She missed having him there at school. She leaned into him as they walked towards her house, which wasn't too far from the school.

"Nope, no work at all! I'm a free woman!" She teased and looked up at him. "I don't have school tmorrow so I have a long weekend!" She added as they neared her house. Her parents were usually always out of town for work, and her older brother moved to Paris when she was younger.

"Are you staying the weekend or is this just a quick hello?" She asked as she unlocked the door and let them in.

Lucy would never admit it to Aaron, but things have really took a turn for the worst since he had been gone. She was always kind of a loner, but lately she really only kept to herself, been kind of depressed and not really eating or sleeping properly.

"My parents are gone, as usual...But they left me a bunch of money for groceries and stuff, we could throw a party or something?" She said hoping he would want to stay with her.

"Free all weekend," Aaron said as he entered Lucys home. "You can have me for as long as you can put up with me."

He considered this offer, tilting his head as he thought, then gave a shrug.

"If you want," he told her. "I'm easy either way. Came down to see how you were doing, so... whatever you want."

Lucy smiled widely. "I wish we could just live together." She said and then blushed beat red. "Well...You know what I mean." She grabbed an apple juice out of the fridge and jumped up on the counter.

"How about we go to a party at your school?" She suggested and tilted her head to the side. "I've never been to a big party like that, it would be cool to just get drunk and let go, ya know?" She added and took a sip of her juice.

Lucy was in love with her best friend, but she would never say anything to ruin their friendship. espeically because she didn't think he liked her in that way. He was all she had, he had been through everything with her, and lately she had been feeling like she was slipping back into her old depressive state without him around.

Aaron leant against the kitchen counter opposite Lucy, watching her get her juice with a soft smile, then offering a shrug at her suggestion.

"I came along to spend time with you," he told her. "However you want to spend that time is up to you. The parties aren't... well, they aren't great. I mean, there's the wannabe cliques still at college, I think they get even worse after highschool... but if that's what you'd like?"

He couldn't say a party was at the top of his list of things to do, he'd wanted to just come hang out with Lucy, like old times. Plus there were so many people at parties, people who might take an interest, distract her attention from him... Well, he supposed maybe he'd have to let her go at some point. Perhaps this was the part where they began to go in different circles, perhaps this was the time he'd have to let go and stop monopolizing her time.

Lucy smiled softly at Aaron. "I just want to get drunk and have fun." She murmured. "I really missed you!" She added and walked over towards him.

Lucy giggled loudly and flopped onto the couch practically falling into Aaron's lap with a bottle of vodka in her hands. "I'm kinda drunk!" She half spoke half sang. She took another sip of vodka and made a disgusted face. "Your so comfy to lay on." She said and relaxed into him. She could feel her heart beating fast in her chest and her cheeks burn red at the contact, all she wanted was for him to kiss her.
