Zacky looked down at the girl in front of his feet, biting his lip. She was beautiful, that was true. She looked awfully pale, and he figured they must have been treating her pretty poorly. He really didn't want this anymore than she did, but he'd been forced into this life by his father, to follow in his footsteps. He'd always wanted a different life, but he wanted to make his father proud too. He felt like he owed it to him because he was the reason his mother had died. She'd died giving birth to him and now he felt like it was his responsibility to make his father proud.
Kiera looked at
herself in the mirror, sighing softly. She hated dressing up like this, but she had no choice in the matter today. Her mother and father were forcing her to go meet the man she was to marry. She didn't want to get married, not yet at least, and certainly not to someone she didn't know. She was still young, she still had plenty of time ahead of her to get married if she wanted. But now she had no choice. She walked downstairs when she was finished getting ready, rolling her eyes when her mother started going on about how beautiful she was. She walked out to the car and got in, just wanting this to be over already.
