Zacky's attention was focused on the food in front of him, not even looking up when Brittney joined him at the table. Raising his head slightly when Brittney broke the tense silence that had settled between them, Zacky could only offer a shrug of his shoulders. He hadn't really thought that far ahead, after the way yesterday had ended and the past few months, Zacky was feeling particularly exhausted. Brittney was right, all that he wanted to do at the moment was relax on the couch.

"Probably. We can order in food for dinner. I don't think I'll feel up to cooking," Zacky said simply. He cleared his throat when he'd all but cleared off his plate, sitting back in his chair. Zacky looked up finally, tilting his head to the side. "Might head over to Brian's if I feel up to it but I guess we'll see. Don't count on it."

"Uh yeah, ordering in for dinner sounds fine," Brittney said, not really sure what else to say in this situation. She hated how stiff things seemed between the two of them now because before talking to Zacky had seemed like the easiest thing in the world. Brittney only nodded when Zacky said they might head over to Brian's later. Getting out of the house and having other people around to pad the tension would help things, but Brittney would understand if Zacky didn't feel up to it. He'd just spent months on the road with these people, cramped into a small bus. He probably wanted some space.

"I'll clean up," Brittney offered, pushing to her feet when she'd finished with her pancake. "You can go relax on the couch if you want to." Taking her plate to the sink, she rinsed it off before placing it in the sink. She gathered up the other dirty dishes they'd used to cook, taking those to the sink as well. Brittney hoped that having a clean house would help Zacky to relax and would help her get back on his good side just a little bit. But just like with the possibility of heading to Brian's later in the evening, Brittney wasn't holding her breath.

Zacky looked up when Brittney offered to begin cleaning up, raising an eyebrow as he watched her for a moment. He gave a nod of his head, pushing to his feet before turning and heading into the living room. He sat down, crossing his ankles on the coffee table. Flipping through the channels on the television, Zacky eventually settled on an episode of Chopped on the food network channel. He wasn't really paying any attention, scrolling on his phone instead.

He looked up when he heard Brittney enter the room, scowling slightly when he noticed that she wasn't carrying a drink for him. Zacky couldn't help but roll his eyes as he gave a huff. "Grab me a cup of tea, will you," he said, his attention already turning back to his phone. It was bothersome to him that she hadn't even thought to grab him a drink or even to offer to do it.

Brittney lingered in the kitchen until she was hopeful that Zacky might be satisfied with its cleanliness. She hoped that would help to lighten his mood just a little bit more. It took about fifteen minutes or so before Brittney thought the kitchen looked nice enough to be up to Zacky's standards and by that point, she was more than ready to sit down and relax with him. She walked into the living room, stopping short when she noticed Zacky rolling his eyes. Hearing him ask her for a glass of tea, she nodded quickly, hurrying back into the kitchen to get his drink. She couldn't believe she'd been so stupid. Of course, he would want something to drink while he relaxed and watched TV.

"Here you go," Brittney said softly, offering Zacky the glass of tea. Once he'd taken it from her, she dropped onto the couch next to him, leaning back against the furniture and forcing herself to relax. Tentatively, she moved closer to Zacky, resting her head against his shoulder. Before he'd gotten irritated when she didn't want to relax with him so this time she would and hopefully she wouldn't make things any worse. That's all she seemed to do lately when it came to Zacky.

Zacky couldn't wrap his head around the fact that Brittney hadn't even bothered to offer to get him a drink. She hadn't grabbed one of her own accord or even bothered to ask if he wanted something to drink or snack on. He offered her a place in his bed, clothes and food to keep her well cared for and she couldn't so much as offer to get him something from the kitchen that he'd paid to put there? That he'd worked to put there? The thought continued to sour his mood, the longer that Brittney was in the kitchen, grabbing his drink.

His eyes narrowed when Brittney reappeared. He said nothing to her as he took the glass, sipping at it for a moment before he leaned forward to place it on the coffee table. Scowling when Brittney leaned against him, Zacky jerked away from her. "Don't touch me. You can't be bothered to even get me a drink unless I make you, when I offer you a home. I buy you gifts, I feed you... and you don't have the common fuckin' courtesy to even get me a drink."

Zacky shook his head in disappointment as he stood suddenly, glaring down at her. "Minus well stay down here if you don't even want to appreciate anything I do for you. Hope you can find a blanket... so you can actually stay warm," he grumbled, turning to head right back up the stairs. Away from Brittney.

At the worst, Brittney had expected for Zacky to be a little stiff as she settled against him. What she hadn't really been expecting at all was the way he jerked away from her and she nearly faceplanted the couch when he pulled away from her. Brittney pushed back into a sitting position, cowering closer to the couch as Zacky essentially scolded her. And honestly, everything he said was true. Zacky did so much for her, even took her into his home when she had nowhere else to go and she couldn't even have the foresight to get him a drink so he could properly relax. She didn't even bother to try and apologize, her gut telling her that it would only serve to provoke Zacky further.

Brittney waited until Zacky was out of sight before she finally laid down on the couch, pressing her face into the cushion as she started to cry. She tried to keep herself quiet but it soon devolved into full-on sobs, her shoulders shaking with the effort as the panic started to overwhelm her. What if Zacky decided he didn't want to deal with her anymore and made her leave? She didn't want to have to go back home. She would rather die than go back there. She would just have to try much harder to prove to Zacky that she deserved to live here with him. Eventually Brittney managed to calm herself down enough to go and search for a blanket, although her tears didn't stop completely. Once she'd managed to find something big enough to cover her, she returned to the couch, curling up into a ball where she eventually cried herself to sleep.

Zacky slept through the night for the first time since he had gotten home, able to stretch out and take up as much space as he had wanted to. In the morning when the sun started shining through the windows, Zacky groaned as he started to wake. He rolled over, stretching his arms over his head before he raised to his feet. He trudged into the ensuite, relieving himself before he started for the stairs. He was half asleep, not even looking in Brittney's direction before he entered the kitchen.

Opening the cabinets, Zacky contemplated making something more than just a bowl of cereal. That was more effort than he wanted to put out though and he was almost sure that if he did, Brittney would only complain about him not making her anything. Listening to her complain would only manage to sour his mood, especially if the thought alone was enough to anger him. Huffing under his breathe as he began slamming things around while making the bowl of cereal, Zacky started right back up the stairs the moment that he had finished making the bowl of cereal. He was doing his best to steer clear of Brittney, knowing if he got too close to her, they were only going to end up arguing again.

Brittney was woken up quite rudely the next morning by sounds of banging in the kitchen. She knew immediately that it was Zacky, likely awake to make breakfast, so she laid low on the couch until she heard the sounds of his footsteps retreating back upstairs. It made sense to her why he wouldn't want to be around her but at the same time, she'd hoped a good night's sleep and a bit of time apart would help to alleviate his sour mood. But he seemed just as angry as he had when he'd gone to bed the night before and so Brittney would do her best to steer clear of Zacky until he sought out her company on his own.

Rising from the couch, Brittney folded her blanket and returned it to the closet down the hall. She gave half a thought to fixing herself some breakfast but then she realized she had absolutely no appetite. So she settled on cleaning up the kitchen a bit before moving onto the living room, hoping that coming back downstairs to find everything clean would give Zacky one less reason to be angry with her. But Brittney wasn't going to get her hopes up. When she still hadn't really seen or heard from Zacky by the time lunch came around, Brittney decided to take a chance and speak to him. She was only going to ask if he wanted her to make him anything for lunch, so she hoped he wouldn't be too upset.

Arriving at the master bedroom, Brittney gave a tentative knock on the door. "Zacky?" she called out softly. "Um, I'm done cleaning and I just wanted to see if you wanted anything for lunch?"

Zacky had decided that it was probably best that he steered clear of Brittney, not wanting to do anything more than keep distance between them. He didn’t understand why he was angry and frustrated with her but he was and he knew that if he spent too much more time around her before he calmed, that things were going to get a lot worse. He had always had a temper but he’d never gone that far and he certainly didn’t want to do that now. Even with as aggravated as he was.

He settled into playing on his x box, smirking when he noticed that Matt had signed on. The rest of his morning was spent playing Call of Duty, each of the boys content when they won most of the rounds they played. Matt and Zacky together were nearly an unbeatable force; they’d played for so damn long that it would have been nearly tragic if they didn’t know what they were doing by now.

His continual good run on the game had served to put him in a better mood. Zacky hadn’t even realized how late in the day it was getting to be until there was a knock at his door. His brows pulled together as he paused the game, telling Matt he’d be two seconds.

Clearing his throat, Zacky nodded before he realized that Brittney couldn’t see him through the door. “Yeah. Uh... how about chicken and waffles?” He called after a moment of consideration. “I’ll be down when I finish what I’m doing,” he added, deciding that he could go downstairs and help with lunch. Maybe it would help mend the rift that had grown between the pair.

Hearing Zacky talking inside the master bedroom, Brittney could easily tell that he'd spent the last couple of hours playing some sort of game with someone. That honestly made her a bit more hopeful than she had been just a few minutes ago, since she hoped a few hours with his friends taking his aggression out on a video game would help to put him in a better mood. Hearing Zacky finally answered what he wanted for lunch, Brittney nodded her head even though she knew he couldn't see her. "Okay, I'll go get things started," she said. She turned to head back downstairs, sighing a little to herself when she realized she was going to have to dirty up the dishes she'd just washed.

Brittney started with the waffle batter, mixing up enough to make Zacky a couple of waffles. She would only eat chicken, so she only needed enough batter for his. Next she made up a quick coating for the chicken, adding it to the pan once the oil was warm enough. Once the chicken was nearly done, Brittney started on the waffles, adding them to the plate that would be Zacky's when they were finished. She added a few pieces of the chicken as well, deciding he could add the syrup on his own if he wanted. On her own plate, she put a few pieces of chicken, going to sit at the table while she waited for Zacky to join her.

Zacky finished up the round that he had been playing with the boys, bidding them farewell before he stood. He turned the xbox off along with the television before he started for the stairs. Zacky was in a far more pleasant mood than he had been when he'd gone upstairs and he was hopeful that Brittney would be nearly done with cooking so that his mood didn't drop right back down. Spotting Brittney in the dining room already, Zacky frowned slightly as he made his way into the kitchen.

Spotting his plate of food, Zacky was quick to grab it off of the counter after he'd poured a fair amount of syrup onto the waffles. He poured himself a glass of orange juice before heading into the dining room. He sat opposite of Brittney, an appreciative smile on his face. He took a bite of his chicken before letting out a groan. "Good food," he murmured, frowning when he noticed there were no waffles on her plate. "Diid you already eat your waffles?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

Brittney didn't dare even thinking about touching her food until Zacky had joined her. When she finally spotted him appear from upstairs, she sat up straight and gave him a soft smile, which seemed to go unnoticed as he slipped into the kitchen to grab his plate of food. She was still a bit anxious even as he sat across from her at the table but the appreciative smile on his face made her worries melt away. It seemed that a little time upstairs to himself had done wonders for Zacky's mood.

"Oh no, I just didn't want any waffles," she answered. She didn't think anything of the question. After all, what was wrong with simply not wanting any waffles? She'd never understood the combination of chicken and waffles, anyway. "But I only made enough batter for the ones I made for you, so nothing was wasted. But I can make more batter if you decide you want some more waffles."

Zacky's confusion only continued to grow at Brittney's explanation that she hadn't wanted waffles. He knew that the combination was strange to some people but it was the sort of breakfast (or lunch in this case) that always offered him comfort. It wasn't the boring old, pancakes and bacon or something of the sort. A little outside of the norm but if it was done right, it was the best meal he would likely have all day.

"I'll have to make my Ma's chicken and waffles one of these days. It's out of this world," he said, convinced that if he did, Brittney would come around to the combination. "Was there anything you wanted to do today?" He asked, deciding that they still had the rest of the day so if there was something that she wanted to do, that they might be able to squeeze it in.

"Yeah, you'll definitely have to make them for me one day," Brirrndy ageeed. She wasn't exactly looking forward to that day, simply because she really didn't enjoy strange food combinations like chicken and waffles but she knew if Zacky made them for her, she would have to eat them. Refusing for a reason other than perhaps illness would likely only make him angry and sour his mood again.

"Um, well I was going to see if there was any grocery shopping that needed to be done," Brittney answered. She hadn't really given much thought to what she might like to do that day. Without meaning to and without realizing it, she'd shifted into a routine of planning her days around what Zacky might like to do and what would keep him happy and calm. "But we could always go to the beach or something, if you wanted?"

Zacky nodded at the mention of grocer shopping. He knew that it was an inevitable part of being at home but it wasn't something that he liked at all. There were always people that walked too damn slow, people that stood in front of what you needed to pick up, seemingly contemplating life's very meaning before moving on. "We can go tomorrow," he decided, knowing that he didn't want to go today. His mood had managed to turn around, he didn't want to somehow ruin it again.

"Y'know. If you want to go to the beach, all you have to do is say so," Zacky states with a small laugh. He shook his head as he eyed her. "We can go, just have to get everything together so we don't end up regretting not having sunblock or something," he said. He didn't really burn, he only tanned, but he had no doubt that Brittney would be miserable if she ended up burning. The few times he had somehow managed to burn, had been absolutely miserable.

Zacky stood, gathering the plates before he deposited them in the sink to be dealt with later. "C'mon. Let's go."

"Tomorrow is good," Brittney agreed. "It'll give me time to make up a list of everything we need." She didn't exactly want to make a trip to the grocery store today anyway, so she was more than open to the idea of putting it off until tomorrow. She would much rather go to the beach and she'd just opened her mouth to tell Zacky this when he effectively decided it for them. She followed his lead in getting to her feet, heading in the direction of the staircase. "I'll change and then I'll get everything together," she said, slipping past him into the master bedroom. She dug around in her dresser until she located her swimsuit, quickly slipping out of her clothes and pulling it on.

Brittney took another few seconds to slip on her coverup before she grabbed the beach bag and set about grabbing everything they would need for an afternoon at the beach. Towels, sunglasses, sunblock, flip flops. Once she was sure she had everything they needed, she went to find Zacky. "I've got everything together, so I'm ready whenever you are," she told him. "Wait. Should we put on sunscreen now or wait until we get there?"

Zacky headed upstairs, changing into a pair of plain blue swim trunks. He glanced toward his dresser, deciding that it wasn't even worth putting on a shirt. They were only a ten minute walk from the beach, he could return home whenever he decided to. Clearing his throat as he made his way back down the stairs, a pair of flip flops on his feet. When he spotted Brittney, he gave her a lazy smile as he tugged the bag out of her grip. Zacky tossed it over his shoulder, turning toward the front door.

"I figure that we can just walk," Zacky commented, pulling open the front door. He bit back a sigh at the mention of sunscreen, shrugging off the bag from his shoulder. Since he wasn't going to bother wearing a shirt, he realized it was probably a better idea to apply it before they started walking. Zacky dug through the bag, producing the bottle with a little wave. "Can you do my back? Then I'll do yours," he said, holding the bottle out to her.

Hearing Zacky say they would just walk, Brittney simply nodded. Zacky knew the area much better than she did and she was sure if he was suggesting that they walk, it wasn't a long one. And even if it was, it was nice outside. So a walk wouldn't hurt. "Yeah, of course," Brittney said, reaching for the bottle of sunscreen. She squirted a bit into one of her palms, rubbing the lotion together in her hands before she started applying it to Zacky's back.

Once she was satisfied that it was worked into his skin, she handed him the bottle so he could do the same to her. She moved her hair out of the way to give Zacky the access he needed to her neck, stepping back when he was finished applying the sunscreen. When they were both finished, she tossed the bottle back into her bag, which was slung over her shoulder. "Let's get going," Brittney said. She smiled. "I'm ready to get my toes in the water."

Zacky grinned slightly as they started the short walk to the beach, intent on enjoying a relaxing day there. It had been far too long since he'd had the chance to just exist without having to worry about his work obligations. It was always this interview or that photo shoot or this or that and sometimes it was a bit more tiring that he realized. It was only moments like this that he really was even able to piece it all together.

Once they reached the beach, Zacky picked a spot a bit further down the sand away from most of the people that had gathered. The less people nearby, the less chance he had of being recognized. And the more time that he could have to enjoy with Brittney. He flashed her a small grin as he pulled his feet out of his sandals, nodding toward the water. "Race me?"

The walk to the beach was short enough that it felt like they'd barely left Zacky's home before Brittney heard the sounds of the waves hitting the shore. The beach was still new to her, so she was intent on soaking up as much of this - and of Zacky - as she could. She followed Zacky out to the spot in the sand he'd chosen, pulling out the beach blanket and spreading it out so they would have a place to sit down.

"Race you?" Brittney repeated, hearing Zacky speak. She looked up to see him slipping off his sandals, a challenging grin on his face. "Well I guess I can't really argue with that. Just let me put the bag down and--" Brittney abruptly cut herself off, dropping the bag on the beach blanket before she took off running towards the water.
