I've been messing around on Weheartit and Pinterest trying to make a moodboard that I missed this when it got posted, dammit. lmfao

I'm Faaae, but I'm almost positive everyone knows that because I haven't gone by 'pallid' in months now so people are like THAT ONE. It's way too late for me to be awake, I'm watching Under the Dome (and hating it tbh but I have this thing about completion sake) and I've been trying all night to read but it's just not working so instead I've resumed making moodboards. Coffee I should probably be finishing the third rewrite of my dumb story so I can post it and be satisfied but NAH, maximum effort.

Hi I spend my nights browsing through the blogs and lurking the forums trying to find more contests to join even though I should probably be forcefully admitted to contest rehab. I love this thread idea because a lot of time late at night I get to feeling a bit lonely and wander mibba aimlessly.

yes, same, and you're just not sure who is up and when you do know who you're not sure how to start a conversation with them. That's how I am, at least. lmfao

Hi, Sam! Glad that people like this thread tehe

Hi Fae! No worries, maybe that night will be the last night you're a lone night owl on Mibba. Wow If we keep this thread going as well as it is going now, we'll be fine!
NOW WE WON'T BE SO LONELY AT NIGHT. That's why I said to subscribe to the thread, just so you know that someone is up and could keep them company as well as yourself. Naughty

Usually when its super late I'm on mobile and am staring bleary eyed at my ultra bright screen so I don't usually post anything new (blogs, story updates, topics) and refresh every five minutes to see if I get an alert or if there's a new contest I can join.
    #NoSelfRestraint

and can i say i hate the whole "be nice" rule on mibba because sometimes i see stuff and just want to like yell and scream but all i can do is press the back button because if i got banned from mibba i would literally die.

I see how fast both of you update when I look through the My Mibba page. I always get so surprised! Oliver and I started out strong, but there's one person (in group two I believe) that's written over 100,000. I kinda threw in the towel when I saw that word count. That was one person.OMFG

I do feel like the next writing cup should be held in the summer simply because of the fact that people won't be busy with finals. So many people had them and were bummed out they couldn't get their word counts up.

    @ She Said Poptarts
I personally like reading summaries that are short and sweet and don't give away too much in terms of information. Maybe look at your favorite book summary or Mibba story summary? That might help!

I hope you slept well, though! And good luck with your travels.Arms
Also, I asked Ella about the group write rule and she said it's most likely to prevent confusion because some people don't/didn't update their master post. So it does make sense as to why.

This. I've been sleuthing through the other cup threads (because I can and I'm nosy and mine wasn't exactly active so I felt lonely XD) and felt kinda bad because its like, "How can i compete with that?" Its particularly hard when cup-mates have things come up and drop out/dont update so its like. Meh. Seeing word counts like that is disheartening I think.

Oh, God, same! I'm really glad I'm not the only one that took a peek at the other groups from time to timelmfao It was definitely disheartening, but I'm proud of that person. They probably worked super hard. I didn't even know that type of word count was possible in a month!

I have to much to do and couldn't achieve that word count unless I was a stay at home mom (#IWish). I wrote like 10k words in two days once so I can see how it's possible if the words are just pouring out of you but I also believe in QUALITY over QUANTITY as well. I could not live with myself or my writing if I cranked out words for the sake of words and had a shitty story in the end. Not sayin the person with the 100k word count has a bad story just that /I/ couldn't have a good story.
Then again breaking down the 100k over 31 days only is a word count of 3226 words a day roughly.

Well, with the total word count they have divided by the number of days this month, it all rounded out to a little over 4,000 words a day, but in the grand scheme of things, that's still a lot. I totally feel you on the quality over quantity. I did update a few chapters without really caring too much about the content, but I've gone over a lot of it and I feel so much better now. I guess this is a lot like NaNoWriMo, what with people trying to get as many words as possible without really caring much about the quality. It's usually just about the quantity. If that was their thought process, I can totally understand where they're coming from.

Which this can be a real driving factor for some. The whole "I have a month to write as much as I can. Let's do it" can be refreshing because you don't second guess yourself or the plot but at the same time I think it can get out of hand.
Oh writing cup, how I feel I have failed you.
Though honestly with the momentum I had I think I could have taken on NaNoWriMo head on. Maybe I'll participate this year, then again I suck at only writing one story now apparently. My current active story count is now six. Oh god, I feel horrible. I've NEVER had six stories going at once. Then again I've never joined 982493872 contests before.

Exactly! Plus, the month of December (I believe) is to go back and edit your NaNo story, so it's not like a novel is written and then nothing else is done with it. There are edits and revisions that go into it for months afterward. At least, that's how it is with some.

Honestly, I don't feel like you failed at all. You still wrote/updated stories and put it toward your count, so that has to count for something!Cute Either last year or the year before that there was an event on Mibba for NaNo where you could write one-shots and short stories; I definitely like you should participate in that (honestly, I might do it). I think I have four or five ongoing stories right now, but for me it's nice because sometimes I'm not feeling the content of one, but feeling it for another, so it's nice to bounce back and forth. LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT CONTESTS, THOUGH! I have such a problem with entering them.Facepalm

    @ Phoebe Buffay
I was jealous too, honestly. I kept getting really discouraged every time I snooped at the other groups. As I said above, I'm proud of them and everyone else that joined the cup. It was probably incredibly hard to get word counts up with finals and jobs, not to mention 'real' life kicking butts, pff. 12,000 is still something and, from what you've said in your blogs, your original goal was 10,000, right? If so, you reached your goal and should totally be proud of yourself!

Yeah! 10,000 was the set goal I had for myself. I'm trying to aim around 15,000 but I think I'm burnt out in all honesty. I did reach my goal and that's all that mattered. And I agree! The week I was banned really set me back. That's basically when I lost my motivation.

Real life kicked a lot of butt around Mibbs. I def feel that next time it should be before people return to school for at least when there aren't finals or midterms.

    @ Phoebe Buffay
I didn't realize you had been banned :O I'm so unattentive. I knew you were gone and noticed (we've talked about this) but yeah. I know how you feel though, I burned out this week the only thing that kept me in this week was the fact I found the inspiration to write like 7k words for WNF when I haven't written anything for the rest of the month.

GOOD LORD GUYS I'M SO FREAKING TIRED. I WANT TO GET OFF OF WORK AND GO HOME AND SLEEP FOR A WEEK.
I stayed up til two am making two new story layouts/story pages for contests.
Totally not my fault. Its those damn contest hosts and their amazing ideas!

Yeah, me being banned is what reallly made me lose my inspiration for writing. But on that note, as of now, I have reached my 15,000 word goal!
