Emma smiled. "I know some parents would rather have their kids involved in sports than arts, but I don't care so long as it makes her happy." She just wanted Alana to have the opportunity to express herself and, as of right now, that was through art. She knew that things could change in the blink of an eye, and her daughter could decide she wanted to be a soccer star all of a sudden, and Emma was going to support her regardless of what her interests ended up being. "It's fine, it was a long time ago. It's his loss. He missed out on knowing his kid. We've been just fine without him in the picture."

Sebastian nodded in response to her words. That made a lot of sense actually. Blair's parents didn't really know that they had left things pretty rocky when they broke things off all those years ago. Blair's mom probably thought that secretly inviting him to the party would be something that Blair wanted. It was strange for her to do that though considering Blair apparently had someone back home in Arizona. Not that Sebastian cared. Good for her. He didn't feel the slightest twinge of jealousy when she had mentioned him earlier. "Yea, sure. I could use a drink." He smiled.

Blair knew she had never told anyone but Emma about how rocky the relationship between her and Sebastian had ended, so she knew that she couldn't blame her parents for wanting to invite him today. When Sebastian said he could use a drink, she smiled. Maybe this wouldn't be so awkward after all...well at least until Jax came out to meet everyone. Blair wasn't sure how awkward things would be if she spoke about him, so she decided against bringing him up for the time being, and she probably wouldn't bring him up unless necessary. Right now, Blair was just trying to get through this reunion with Sebastian without throwing up or saying something stupid.

Chris couldn't help but smile at her words, knowing that they were the best thing that a mother could say about her child, "I wish most parents thought about that kind of stuff the way that you do. There are a lot of families where the child has been raised to do what the parents wanted." Chris said. Of course, his parents hadn't ever been like that and they had always supported him no matter what he wanted to do, but some families weren't that lucky. When she spoke about Alana's father more, he grinned again, "That's good to hear. He will realize his mistake one day. She seems like an amazing kid, and anyone would be lucky to know her."

Emma smiled at his words. "I know, and I think that's a shame. I think that it's okay for parents to make suggestions, but ultimately a kid should be allowed to do what they're interested in, and what makes them happy." She said. She thought it was so selfish when parents forced their own interests onto their kids, and she wanted Alana to do what made her happy. When he told her that Alana seemed like an amazing kid, the smile on her face widened slightly. "Thank you, she is an amazing kid." She said. "I'm so lucky to have her in my life."

Sebastian had told his mother about the rocky ending to their relationship. She'd been devastated when he told her, his mom had always really liked Blair and she'd been over the moon when they first started dating, so learning that they had broken up had really upset her at the time. Her mother was pretty happy when he told her why he and Chris were coming to visit, but he'd told her that he didn't think that anything would come of his visit. It had been ten years after all, and he wasn't surprised to find out that Blair was spoken for. She was a great girl, always had been, and he hadn't expected her to be single.
