The Hart family had only moved into the gated community a few days ago, they had to leave their lives behind when Ethan Hart was offered the sheriff job within the community. It was a chance to improve himself in the field he loved working in, so he uprooted his family and moved them to a place they hadn’t even heard of before. Thankfully the girls wouldn’t miss much school as there was a high school inside the community, there seemed to be everything a person would need behind the gates which seemed strange but Eleanor didn’t question it. She wasn’t all that bothered moving, she was upset leaving her small group of friends but she’d keep in contact with them. It was Skylar would had gotten angry over having to move, although she was going through a rebellion stage at the moment.

Vivian Hart was busy getting the new house into shape that she told her daughters to go explore, well she had to focus her youngest out of the large house. This house was much larger than what they had before, now the girls had their own ensuite connected to their bedrooms so they wouldn’t need to share a bathroom any longer. So while Vivian was busy and Ethan was at work, Eleanor took her little sister out so they could explore the community and hopefully met some nice people. However neither had moved before and Eleanor certainly felt out of place, eyes followed them as they walked along the streets. It made her slightly uncomfortable but she tried to ignore the stares, apparently everyone knew they were moving in.

Her short blonde hair moved in the light breeze that was in the air, her blue eyes glanced over to her sister who was thankfully still beside her. They had always been close, had been best friends growing up but then the awkward teenage years hit them both and things changed a little between them. But Eleanor loved her sister more than anything, she has always been super over protective of Skylar. Since before she was born, all Eleanor wanted to be was a good big sister. She wasn’t sure if Skylar saw it that way or not, but their parents were always working so Eleanor felt like it was her job to watch out for her little sister.

“I think so far this place is nice, it’s not a gated community that I’ve ever seen before but it looks nice.” She commented to her sister, it was obvious looking at them that they were sisters. The blonde hair and blue eyes, similar facial structure. All of which they got from their mom, considering their dad had very dark brown hair although his eyes were also blue but with some grey mixed in. “I’m sure living here will be fine, once you make friends at school and settle in.” She tried to reassure Skylar, Eleanor was in her senior year at school and would be finishing while Skylar still had a few years left.
Zane was sitting on his push bike, a strawberry milkshake in hand and he was just watching people go by their day. He was trying to stay out of trouble for once, Shawn was beside him as they had let their wolves go on a run that morning and were now just relaxing as they didn’t have school. Not that Shawn attended that many classes anymore, Zane tried not to skip classes because he wanted to pass this year. His grades weren’t the best, he didn’t really get around to doing his homework after school as he was usually running around the surrounding forests in his sandy coloured wolf as it was fun for him.

“Have you seen the new family yet? All humans, I went past the house last night for a sniff. Didn’t see any of them though, seems our new sheriff is human.” He commented to his friend, he wasn’t sure how a human family would do in a gated community filled with different supernatural creatures. Of course the new family didn’t know, otherwise they wouldn’t have moved in unless they were all insane. Surprisingly everyone inside the community got along well enough for fighting to be kept to a minimum, Zane guessed it was because they were all in the same position so they would need to get along to continue living there in safety.

Last night he had smelt a male and three females inside the house, two older and two younger. Two daughters smelt to be around a similar age as he was, one smelt nicer than the other one though that was just his opinion. The one he liked the scent of, was a little richer but at the same time floral. Like he was running through a field of well cared for flowers, he couldn’t pick out a certain flower as her scent seemed to be complex but still incredible all at the same time.

(Sorry if that was a crappy starter post!)

(Oh, it's a perfect post, as usual!)

To say that Skylar was angry and upset with the move was an understatement. She was furious. How could her father be so nonchalant about uprooting them and moving them to a place like this? Away from her friends and away from everything she had known? And, how was everybody else so okay with this? Her mother had been all for it, eagerly encouraging her father, because it was such a great career opportunity and blah, blah, blah. It annoyed Skylar to no end. Were they punishing her? Because they definitely weren't punishing her sister - out of the two of them, Skylar was the one that got into trouble. She could understand if they were annoyed with her behavior as of late, but they didn't have to go to these extremes.

She didn't feel comfortable in the new house. She felt lost and out of place. Nothing about it felt like home, even if they brought pretty much every personal item that any of them owned. It just didn't feel right and it bothered her to no end. But, she supposed that could also be attributed to the fact that she just didn't want to be there. When her sister suggested they go out, she couldn't agree fast enough. Even if she didn't want to be in this area, she'd rather be out and about than be at their new home. Any chance to get outside, she'd gladly take at this point. Besides, she and Eleanor didn't get to spend much time together anymore - and maybe that was attributed to their differing personalities or the fact that Skylar just didn't feel as close to her older sister as she used to.

Regardless, as they walked, her eyes scanned the area and she couldn't help but frown, her eyes narrowing at the people who stared at them. "You think this is a nice place?" she asked with surprise, looking to her sister with wide eyes. "Half the people are looking at us like we're freaks." Or maybe that was just Skylar's imagination because she hated this place so much already. She preferred to think that her opinion was right, though. "I don't want to make friends here and I don't want to settle in, El. I want to go back home, where we belong, where our friends are and where we're comfortable. This place just feels... It feels all sorts of wrong."
To be quite honest, Shawn was the furthest thing from a responsible, law-abiding citizen. He went on runs whenever and wherever he wanted - something that would likely grow to be dangerous with the humans around. They couldn't afford for the humans to find out about them or even for them to notice wolves roaming around. It could cause a lot of issues, from rumors going around to even some animal control service being called to handle the issue. That was the last thing that the pack needed - or any supernatural creature within the gates, really. So, his 'anytime, anywhere' runs would probably have to be cut down to certain limits, regardless of whether he wanted it or not. Maybe he'd just take his runs outside of the gates; he knew the ways to get out and they weren't prisoners, so they were free to come and go as they wished.

"I haven't seen them yet," he answered his friend with a small shake of his head, though his eyebrows quirked. "Have you seen them yet? Or did you just get a sniff of them? I'm a little curious to whether there are any hot girls with them." He smirked slightly at that, because he wasn't exactly lying. Of course, it wasn't like he could actually be with a human. Even that was dangerous. If they found out about the secrets within the gated community, there would be consequences. Likely, the witches within the community would have to make the humans forget everything that they had learned - and they'd have to forget any relationship that had formed as well. Not that he was really a relationship person, but still.

Well, he supposed there would be one case where he would deal with a relationship - if he were to meet his soulmate, the person he was meant to mate and be with and love for the rest of his life, then there would be no question to whether he'd be a relationship person or not. That person would be all that mattered to him, they'd be more important than his own life. Still, he shook those thoughts away in favor of returning to the conversation with Zane. "Maybe we should go greet them? Welcome them to the community or something?" he asked with an arched brow. Of course, his main intention was to get a good look at the family, see if they were interesting or see if they would cause any trouble for the supernatural creatures within the community.

Sipping his milkshake, Zane rolled his eyes at Shawn’s comment. “I only smelt their scents, I didn’t want to linger around their home and be seen.” He explained to his friend as he hadn’t stayed in the backyard of the house for longer than a few seconds, he wasn’t wanting to cause trouble with the new family who hadn’t even been in the community for a week yet. He was still curious as to who these people were, if they were nice and friendly and people they could all trust. Of course he knew the rule, no humans are allowed to know about the creatures within the gates. But that didn’t mean he couldn’t be friends with the daughters in the family, if they were close to his age.

“When have you ever willingly welcomed someone here? I know you just want to check them out,” He grinned as he knew Shawn, they have been friends years now. He knew Shawn never did relationships and didn’t even seem interested in finding his soul mate, he didn’t even look at Nina twice. No matter how much Nina flirted with Shawn, she was a wolf in the pack and was the same age as Shawn. Her long raven hair flowed down her back, her legs long and toned. She was pretty, although she wasn’t Zane’s type, she was clearly every other guy’s type as she was the most popular girl at school. He wasn’t sure what Shawn’s deal was, he never seemed to get close to that many people and was often guarded. Although a lot of the people in the community would become guarded, now that a human family had moved in.

Finishing his milkshake he threw the cup into the trash can before pushing off on his bike, “Let’s try and find them. But you have to be nice and don’t scare them away,” He teased his friend as it really wouldn’t be hard to find someone in the family, they smelt different… they smelt human and a wolf would be able to find a scent from a mile away especially if it was a strange scent. Zane sniffed the air and it wasn’t long before he found the girl’s scents, they were close so he turned his bike around a corner as they were walking along the street. “Hey… hi,” He called out as he neared them, a smile on his face as he did want to welcome them to the community. “I’m Zane and this is Shawn, we just wanted to welcome you here.” He spoke to the two blonde sisters.
Eleanor sighed softly at her sister’s remark, “Well I’m sure it is a nice place. And their probably just staring because we’re new,” She tried to reason with her sister, although that was a fail waiting to happen and she knew that. “I don’t want to be here either, but there was no way Dad was turning this job down. I didn’t see any point in arguing about this,” She explained to her sister, she didn’t want to move but she saw how happy their Dad was when he was offered the job. She didn’t want to make him feel bad for taking a job that he had been dreaming of for a very long time, so she bit her tongue and went along with everything.

“Your friends can come here to visit, or I can drive you somewhere to meet up with them.” She looked at her sister, but they did agree on one thing. This place felt different and it was something Eleanor couldn’t explain or put her finger on, “Just give this place some time.” Even though she was glad that Skylar was away from her group of friends, Eleanor didn’t like any of them and she certainly didn’t trust them. They weren’t good enough for her sister and they were only going to cause trouble, something Eleanor didn’t want her sister getting into.

Hearing a voice directed at them, she looked up seeing two guys approaching them. They were the first ones who had spoken to them since they arrived, some adults had come over to the house but they mostly spoke with their parents. She smiled at the boys in hopes they could know people before starting school, “Thanks. I’m Eleanor and this is my sister Skylar,” She introduced them to the guys, the Zane one appeared to be Sky’s age while Shawn looked to be closer to her age. Zane asked how the move was, “It was fine. Long and tiring, we’re just exploring the place.” She explained when Skylar decided not to speak, it hurt her knowing her sister wasn’t happy here but what else could Eleanor do? Their parents would have moved no matter what they said, she was just dealing with it because she had to. Not because she wanted to be there in a strange place, with strange people.

(Since everybody is together, I'm just going to combine my post.)

"When have I ever needed to welcome anybody?" Shawn shot back with amusement as he arched a brow. They didn't get very many new people moving into the area. Regardless, he still didn't necessarily welcome any of them, unless they were other werewolves - and that was solely for ties and to avoid any conflict amongst their species. They each respected each pack's boundaries, though. For the most part, anyways. He almost snorted when his friend mentioned being nice, though. They'd never actually met humans before, so he figured he should try to be on his best behavior.

It wasn't difficult to find them, either; even though he hadn't snooped around the house like Zane had, the scent of human was very distinctive and unfamiliar, which made it easy to locate them. As they approached, he eyed the girls for a moment, finding it fairly easy to tell the difference in age between the two. He rolled his eyes at Zane's introduction, though he attempted to not be too obvious about it. "Exploring, huh?" he repeated with curiosity. "You should really have somebody show you around, then. It's easy to get lost around here." And it was easy to stumble in territory that wasn't allowed. The boundaries between species was clear as well, though he wasn't sure if that counted for humans or not. Still, it was better to avoid the possibility of trouble altogether.

"If that was your way of attempting or leading to offering your help, we're fine," Skylar said with a small frown as she eye the pair. She wasn't very happy with the fact that her conversation with her sister had gotten interrupted, though that was likely more so because she wanted to continue to complain to her sister more than anything. She wanted to lift the weight off her shoulders and scream about how much she hated this place. It wasn't fair that she had gotten torn away from her friends and she couldn't understand how Eleanor was so easygoing and accepting of it when Eleanor was a Senior. Wouldn't she want to graduate with her friends?

Shawn blinked but stared at the girl for a long moment. If the girl had been a werewolf, those would have been words worthy of a challenge and it made him itch for a fight. He was quick to remind himself that this girl was only a human, though; attacking wouldn't be in his best interest and it wasn't like this girl would understand how or why her words would rub him the wrong way. Better to avoid it altogether. "Oh? I'm assuming you're the younger one, though. Shouldn't a decision like that be left to the older, more mature sister?" he asked casually before he rested his attention on the other girl. "So, hypothetically speaking, if we were to offer our help in showing you two around, what would your answer be?"

With narrowed eyes, Skylar chewed on the inside of her cheek and had to bite her tongue to avoid snapping at this rude guy. Idly, she hoped that not all people in this place were like that; if they were, could she just run away and leave this behind? Return back to the city, back to her friends, and get away from idiots like this? But she was sure that idea would fly right out the window because it would be too predictable; her parents and sister would figure it out too easily, too quickly. She probably wouldn't even get to enjoy a party or two if she went back to the city before somebody showed up to force her back.

So, instead, she let out a breath and rested her eyes on the other guy. Zane - that's what he said his name was, right? He was pretty attractive, at least. And, besides interrupting her conversation with El, he hadn't really been rude yet. At least that was something and she idly debated learning more about him. For now, she simply looked to her sister. "He's a little persistent. Kind of creepy, if you ask me," she hummed out, not bothering to keep her voice low because she wanted them to hear anyways.

(Sorry if my post is crappy.)

Zane rolled his eyes before looking at Shawn, “You know what I mean. They obviously don’t know why they shouldn’t be here, it’s only fair if someone is nice to them.” He didn’t know that for certain however, he was going guessing that this family had no idea where they had just moved to and who were surrounding them in the community. Otherwise if they did know, why were they there and not running for the hills to get away from the creatures that existed and lived there. Although he wanted Shawn to be nice, he hadn’t been expecting his friend to offer to show the humans around. It did make sense though, it wouldn’t be hard for humans to get lost and stumble into an area that would be highly dangerous for them. Boundaries were taken extremely seriously around these parts, if you weren’t invited onto another boundary than you stayed well away. It was an unspoken law, everyone just knew.

Zane didn’t stop or cover the grin that appeared on his face when the younger sister declined Shawn’s offer, she had attitude and a spark in her. It was obvious she didn’t want to be there, he couldn’t blame her. She had most likely be taken away from all her friends, the place she grew up in and just everything that she knew. He couldn’t imagine what that would be like, sure he felt like escaping from the gates but he never did. His family and friends lived there inside the closed gates, he had school to finish and it was just safer for him to stay there. At least for right now.

Eleanor bit her tongue as to not tell her sister off for being so rude, she didn’t want to scold Skylar in front of people they didn’t know. That wouldn’t help anything, it would only add to how uncomfortable they were both feeling about being in a strange new place. Then the guy moved his attention onto her, she could feel Skylar’s eyes also on her probably begging her to tell these guys that they were fine. But it did sound like a good idea, it would be easier if they were shown around especially before they started school. “That doesn’t sound awful,” She decided to sneak a glance at her sister, but the look Skylar was sending her was one of pure betrayal. It broke Eleanor’s heart, she was only trying to do the right thing and Skylar wasn’t helping by the way she was acting.

“We really aren’t all that bad, Shawn is the only creepy on between us.” Zane added as it was clear the younger blonde wanted nothing to do with him and Shawn. But the older sister had agreed for them to show them around, he was slightly uncertain of what he should do now. Skylar had crossed her arms to keep everything away from her, but he ignored how cold she was acting and stepped over to her as Shawn led the way. “Do you like music?” He asked as it was the first thing that came to mind, she looked like she would be the type to enjoy listening to music. He did when he wanted to relax or escape from the world, he wasn’t sure if his attempt at being friendly was going to pay off but he sure hoped it would.

Stepping forward she followed Shawn, “Sorry about her. She doesn’t want to be here,” She explained quietly before she glanced over her shoulder, the poor boy was trying so hard to talk to her sister. If Eleanor had been a year older, they could have stayed at home and Skylar could have finished school where she started and graduate with all her friends. But she had always worried about the people Skylar surrounded herself with, none of them were good influences on her little sister so Eleanor was glad those people weren’t close by now.

(finally found my reply! it was on my grandma's desktop for some reason.)

Skylar couldn't believe what she was hearing. Looking to Eleanor, there was both shock and betrayal etched onto her features. She didn't want to have to deal with these guys. It was hard enough being in a new community, why should she have to be bothered with being nice or whatever? With a frown, she folded her arms over her chest and looked away, unable to hide the fact that she felt completely defiant with her sister's decision. She wanted to get away from the group, but she wasn't entirely fond of being alone.

Hearing Zane's words, she glanced over to him, arching a brow as if she could pretend that she believed his words. She didn't, though. It was hard for her to believe that these guys weren't after something. Nobody was that nice, to offer to show them around without some kind of catch. "Music?" she repeated before she snorted quietly and looked away. "Doesn't everybody like music? Or are you talking about a specific kind?" She arched a brow, almost curious, but she tried to avoid getting too involved in the conversation.

Shawn looked a little amused when Eleanor agreed and he could tell her sister wasn't pleased with it, but Shawn didn't personally care. It was likely that Eleanor's sister would get over it eventually. Besides, it was best that the pair had people with them when wandering around, at least until the rest of the community understood that they were part of the community now and that they weren't just strange humans who had ended up getting lost or something. It was safer for the girls this way, but he couldn't really tell them that.

"It's not a problem," he assured, dismissing Eleanor's apology with a wave of his hand as he began to lead the way. "Is this the first time your family has ever moved?" he asked with curiosity as he glanced over at Eleanor. It would make sense and would explain why the younger sister wasn't all that pleased with the situation, he supposed. Shrugging the thought aside, he turned his attention ahead. "This place isn't so bad once you get used to it, I promise. You may even end up liking this place a lot. There are a couple of things to keep you busy."

Skylar rolled her eyes when she heard Shawn talk. Was he trying to convince Eleanor to like this place? What was his main reason going to be to get her to like it there? Because he was there or something like that? It was almost laughable. Looking back to Zane, she wondered if he agreed to Shawn's words or not. "So, what exactly is there to do here?" she asked after a moment.

Shawn didn't bother getting involved in Zane's and Skylar's conversation. He and Zane didn't completely share the same fascinations when it came to what there was to enjoy about the community, so he doubted they'd have the same opinion anyways. "Are you going to be attending the school here?" he asked, looking to Eleanor once more, "Or have you already graduated?"
