Of all the things that Alessandro had tried to prepare himself for when he entered the room, he hadn't been prepared for Eva to all but shove the baby into his arms. Well, she didn't but it felt an awful lot like she had. He had never been good with children, they were easy to manipulate and toss a shiny coin to carry a coded message, sure, but he had never had to care for one. Even on the farm, before things had gone awry, he had been the youngest. Old enough to be put to work and he had never questioned it, never had a need to even consider carrying for a child. Ales began to rock the baby gently, mimicking the actions that Eva had taken that had seemingly soothed the baby earlier. He frowned slightly, wondering if older children would be more or less difficult to care for. But it didn't matter, he would never have the chance to have his own. He was more than sure of it.
Ales looked up from the spot he stood, his frown only deepening as he eyed Eva. "Is that smart? Perhaps we should try to speak to whatever family we come across, if we manage to," he paused, his gaze dropping to the baby that he held in her arms. "So that they may feel more inclined to care for it. So that they don't just abandon it or ship it off elsewhere..." he trailed off with a shrug of his shoulder. Ales huffed when he looked back up to Eva, catching her staring at him with what he could only imagine was confusion.
"I'm only trying to think long term for the child!" He defended with another huff.
