Of all the things that Alessandro had tried to prepare himself for when he entered the room, he hadn't been prepared for Eva to all but shove the baby into his arms. Well, she didn't but it felt an awful lot like she had. He had never been good with children, they were easy to manipulate and toss a shiny coin to carry a coded message, sure, but he had never had to care for one. Even on the farm, before things had gone awry, he had been the youngest. Old enough to be put to work and he had never questioned it, never had a need to even consider carrying for a child. Ales began to rock the baby gently, mimicking the actions that Eva had taken that had seemingly soothed the baby earlier. He frowned slightly, wondering if older children would be more or less difficult to care for. But it didn't matter, he would never have the chance to have his own. He was more than sure of it.

Ales looked up from the spot he stood, his frown only deepening as he eyed Eva. "Is that smart? Perhaps we should try to speak to whatever family we come across, if we manage to," he paused, his gaze dropping to the baby that he held in her arms. "So that they may feel more inclined to care for it. So that they don't just abandon it or ship it off elsewhere..." he trailed off with a shrug of his shoulder. Ales huffed when he looked back up to Eva, catching her staring at him with what he could only imagine was confusion.

"I'm only trying to think long term for the child!" He defended with another huff.

Although she did not look at him, in the reflection of a mirror she saw him try to rock the baby and grinned. How adorable. Such an assassin and yet so at loss when given a life to take care of. Not in his specialty it seemed.

"If," she stressed the word, "IF we manage to. We will have to do a lot of explaining on our part. Everyone at the party was killed, perhaps not her found, and suddenly a related baby shows up wit two toned assassins?" She looked down at the laces on her boots and quietly added, "I don't know what to say to them."

She straightened and looked over at him, besides, why did he care? She red him curiously and couldn't help but laugh a little this time around as he huffed. "Oh? What is that? Ales the high ranking assassin is protective over a child?" She walked over and once her hood was up, she took the baby from him, cuddling it in closer. "How adorable. Maybe you can be a father one day."

Eva opened the door, "Come on, papa. We got places to be, children to take care of." She walked out, heading down the stairs towards the exit. Their trip would not take long to the jeweller. He was not far.

Alessandro realized with an awe inspiring amount of clarity that even Eva didn't think her plan was foolproof. There was still the chance that they didn't find the baby's family and still the chance that maybe the master would have to be alerted to the child's presence. He had no clue what that would ultimately elude to but he had absolutely no desire to find out either. He cleared his throat, nodding as she followed after Eva.

His eyes roamed over each and every face that they passed, paranoia seeping into the pit of his stomach. God forbid the wrong person spotted them and they thought that Eva and Ales were harboring a secret? A shudder traveled down his spine and he forced the thoughts away just as Eva motioned toward the intended jeweler.

Ales opted to linger outside, deciding that he wasn't going to be of any help inside with the jeweler. Looking up when Eva emerged from the little store, he exhaled slowly as he raised a eyebrow. "Well? How'd it go?"

[What the fuck is my last post?! "perhaps not her found..... two toned assassins... she red him" WAT WAS I HIGH lmfao]

The travel to the jeweler was thankfully uneventful. The jeweler himself was pretty relaxed and chill, and after some huffing on his pipe and humming, he gave her the name and address of the relatives of the owners so that she could return this 'lost item'. Eva stepped outside and took a breath, squinting a little at the sun before turning to Ales. "We got us a house," She walked up and put the amulet back on the baby, and pulled him after her, taking the darker alleyways. It didn't take long, thankfully, and they soon stopped in front of a cute thin little house sandwiched between others. They had to hang around for a while before the opportunity to grab a child came, whom she asked a question, and placed a coin in the child's palm to send them on their way. Having confirmed the family lived here, Eva fixed the child and - once nobody was around again - quickly scaled the wall and disappeared into the yard.

She waited on a nearby rooftop, watching the door open and a woman step out to look down at the child and the amulet at her doorstep. Once Eva was sure the child was taken in, she turned away and returned to Ales. "Thank you," she said after a while, "For letting me take the child back. No child should have to experience that." She kicked a stray stone and watched it roll and hop along the path. "I wonder what will become of him." She took a breath and glanced at Ales with a small smile, "I hope he grows up fine."

While Alessandro understood all too well what Eva was likely feeling, what led her to wanting to help the child, he would never admit to it. He would never admit to it, not to her, because that would mean a weakness that he couldn't afford. There was something that he couldn't quite place about Eva that made him want to put a barrier between them, before whatever the suspicion was was brought to light. He cleared his throat, turning on his heel and beginning to lead the way out of the city and back toward the compound.

Ales paused as they paused through the main courtyard of the city. His eyes narrowed as he began to turn in a circle, feeling as if he was being watched. It wasn't something that he was familiar with because he was so used to being undetectable in the middle of a crowd. His eyes narrowed as his hands began to ball into fists. "Something isn't right," he started, his gaze snapping back to Eva's. He gave a shake of his head, eyes scanning over the tops of the buildings behind her.

"Go back to the compound," were the only words he uttered as his eyes landed on the familiar outside of Templars moving toward them. It was likely nothing to worry about but the way they seemed to be heading straight for Eva and Ales had him unnerved.

"Quickly," Ales hissed, giving her a light shove before he spun and began to take off through the nearest alley.
