Skylar was a little eager about starting at a university - a pretty popular one at that. The last year had been pretty rough for her, after leaving her hometown and her now ex-boyfriend behind. She hadn't really explained the break-up to Luke back then, hadn't really wanted to explain that she was moving and that breaking up would probably make things easier for him, so that he didn't have to wait around for some form of message from her. She had wanted him to be able to live his life without being stuck waiting on her; he deserved it. She hadn't even really contacted him since and, idly, she thought that she maybe should have, but she didn't really want to open old wounds. It was why she came to this university instead; though it was popular, it was large and she was sure that she could avoid anybody that she knew. With those thoughts, she headed to her dorm with her luggage.
Ashton couldn't help but to grin broadly as he made his way to his dorm. He figured that, as soon as he put his things away, he could call up Ebony and see where she was. Plus, he kind of wanted to help her settle into the university, especially since he wanted to chat with her about their classes. Since he would be a little busy with performing at school events and parties throughout the semester, he wanted to at least make sure that they'd have some classes together. He didn't want her to think that he didn't have time for her or anything and he worried that he might seem that way, especially when his and his friends' band was starting to get a lot of attention at the school. As he arrived at his dorm, he entered and went ahead to start unpacking. The moment he finished, he went ahead to pull out his phone and called Ebony.
Calum wasn't really sure what to think about starting university. He was pretty eager about it, sure. But he was also pretty nervous at the same time. At least Mike and Ashton had helped him and Luke know what to expect, since they were a bit older. Overall, though, he just wanted to get the entire year underway. They already had a few parties and school events lined up for them to play at, after all, and he was excited about that - as were the others, he was sure. It was the one reason they'd come to this university: so that they could stick together and play their music. He had already unpacked everything into his dorm, having arrived a little early, and he decided to explore everything a bit while he could.

(sorry Calum's is a little short!)

"Ashton where are you?! I need your help," Ebony answered the phone pouting even though she knew Ashton couldn't see her face through the phone given they weren't face timing. Regardless though it felt like a pouty moment. This wasn't her first year at UNI, it was actually her third, but it never failed that on move-in day she had to get help from someone. And honestly, every year it had been Ashton. Mostly because well he was her boyfriend and she knew he'd help her. This year clearly wasn't going to be any different. There were just certain things that she couldn't do on her own, though. She was tall enough that reaching the top shelf was never an issue for her and she didn't have to ask for help, lifting heavy objects or setting up bookshelves, however, was a different story.
Mikey wasn't new to the whole university scene. Just like he wasn't new to the whole living with Ashton thing, so it wasn't really unexpected when Ashton seemed like he was in a hurry to unpack his things probably so he could run off and see Ebony and help her move in while he still had the time. And Mikey didn't mind, had it be some other girl whom he didn't like it would've been an issue more than likely. He liked Ebony, though. She always seemed to understand that being in a band was what they loved and that meant sometimes the band would come before her. She was also just nice which was good because everyone likes nice people. Mikey did have to admit though that he was a little worried about Luke. Because he knew that Luke had been dealing with some stuff over the summer, and for all he really knew Luke was still dealing with some things. And while Mikey did want the band to do well he didn't want his friend to suffer. So once he'd finished all his own unpacking he figured he'd find his blonde friend and check in.
Luke had shared a room with Calum since the year before at UNI. That was when they'd met, became friends, and somehow both wound up discovering and deciding to join a couple of older guys band they were forming. And so far everything with the band was going really well. They'd actually put forth the effort to meet up over breaks and practice and with the new year starting he was pretty excited because they already had a couple of parties booked. Being in the band though and practicing over the summer before they'd all come back to uni had been the best thing for him too, though because it'd given him the chance to distract himself from the heartbreak he'd felt over Skylar breaking up with him. Something he still wasn't sure he fully understood. And given she wouldn't answer his calls or text messages he wasn't sure he'd ever get the answer he was hoping for.

(It's a great reply, no worries!)

The university was massive, though Skylar knew that it really shouldn't have surprised her at all. Looking around, it was easy to get lost in everything - from little booths that announced clubs to join, to the fact that the campus itself was huge. She could spot different buildings, some for classes, others were dorms, and she was sure there were sororities and fraternities on campus as well. It was distracting enough to forget that she was meant to be on her way to her dorm and she occasionally had to glance down at her map of the campus to make sure she was heading in the right direction or to keep her focused on the task at hand instead of getting distracted by everything.
Ashton couldn't help but to chuckle quietly when he heard Ebony on the other end. He could imagine her pout, which was evident from the tone of her voice. "Don't worry, I'll be there soon," he promised as he made his way out of his dorm room. "Which dorm building are you in again?" He knew the room number, at least; but there were so many dorm buildings on campus that he sometimes lost track. Plus, it was their first day back, so it wasn't too surprising that he couldn't remember, considering they were assigned new dorms each year anyways. "What is it exactly that you need help with? The usual stuff?" Because he was used to helping her with this, of course.
With a glance to Luke, Calum wondered if he should stick around with his friend. He knew things weren't the best for his friend, but he tried not to pry. "Do you want to walk around a bit?" he asked after a moment, figuring that getting Luke out a bit might help. "Or we could stick around in here, maybe play some video games?" Because he was sure they'd each brought some. Besides, there wasn't much to do today besides join clubs and such. They, of course, had a gig tonight, for a welcome party, but that wasn't for a few hours and they were completely free until then. Classes wouldn't start for another day or two, either, so that made things a little easier to manage to get settled.

"I'm in Orchard," Ebony told Ashton as she took a seat on her bed looking around her room at all the things that still needed to be done. "And yes I need help with the usual," she told him rolling her eyes playfully even though she knew he couldn't see her. It wasn't her fault though that some of her boxes were too heavy for her. Well, it wasn't really that they were too heavy for her, it was more they were heavy so she always decided on calling Ashton up and making him help her with the heavier boxes since it was easier for him. Plus it gave her a reason to stare at his muscles. Which Ebony made it known often how much she loved his arms. They were just so, nice, though. Really all of Ashton was nice, his personality, his looks, everything.
Michael having decided to go and hang out with Luke and Calum before the gig tonight left the dorm and headed towards where he remembered them saying they were staying. On his way though he happened to bump into Skylar. And she looked a little lost. "Need help finding something?" He asked her remembering his first year at uni and how difficult it was for him to find his way around. Honestly, he still didn't understand why the place was so big. "Because I'd be happy to help you find your way around," he added silently hoping she'd let him help her.
Luke walked out of his room having finally unpacked most of his things, or at least the important things. He sighed and ran his hand over his hair before shrugging his shoulders. "We can hang out here if you want," he said deciding that it might be best to stay in for awhile and just hang out with each other rather than going out into the world and possibly running into people neither of them really wanted to see. "I'll get some snacks, I guess if you want to set up the playstation," he said knowing the only thing they'd end up doing would be playing video games, but at least they knew what would be happening.

Ashton couldn't help but to chuckle quietly to her words but nodded slightly. "Yeah, I'll be there soon to help," he assured her. At least her dorm building wasn't too far from his dorm building this time. "Are you settling in alright, though? Minus not having everything ready, I mean." He wanted to make sure that she was comfortable, at least. And, aside from that, he wondered if she would get along with whatever roommate she ended up with. He was sure that, if she didn't, she'd just hang out with him more, though, which was fine. Soon getting to the dorm building, he went to her dorm room and knocked on the door.
Skylar blinked when she realized that this guy was talking to her. Shifting, she adjusted what she had in her arms and offered a small, somewhat nervous grin. "Ah, kind of," she admitted with a small nod before she shrugged slightly. "I guess it's kind of expected with a uni this large, though. People are bound to get lost on occasion." She just hoped that it wouldn't happen too often for her, but she doubted her luck quite a bit. At least somebody was willing to help, though, and that was nice. "I'm looking for the Orchard dorm," she told him before she shifted to pull out her key, which had her dorm and dorm number on it.
Calum nodded slightly in response to Luke's words and moved to pull out the PlayStation. "Are you alright?" he asked after a moment. He and Luke had been friends for a while, so he was at least aware of what had his friend so down, but he wasn't sure if his friend was doing any better compared to before. "Not that you have to answer, if you don't want to. I mean, I guess playing a game will keep you distracted for now, at least." He offered a smile to his friend and finished hooking the game up before he grabbed the controllers. "Any game you have in mind to play?"

"Of course I am. I have been in this same dorm every year after all, so I still know where everything is," Ebony told Ashton silently wishing they could've been in the same dorm because it would've been nice to be in the same building at least as her boyfriend. But they weren't, and there wasn't much that could be done now to change it. Plus Ebony had lived in the same room in the same building every year since she'd first started here and she liked it too much to want to move into a new one. Because staying here meant she knew where everything was and how everything worked. As far as all the other dorms went the only things she knew was what she'd picked up on from when she hung out with Ashton, and the stories she'd heard from some other friends. So the only thing different this time around was she was getting a new roommate because her last one had graduated, and all Ebony could hope for was that they would get along.
Michael laughed and nodded his head. "Yea, I remember my first year here," he told her laughing at himself honestly. "My first year here I think I spent more of my time lost and trying to find my classes than I actually did in class," he said. And even though he knew that wasn't true, it felt like it was. He had gotten lost a lot, the campus was so big though that it wasn't hard to get lost. Luckily though after a while he'd picked up on things and started to figure out how to find his way around. And now the only time he was late for class was when he felt like being late or like overslept or something because he knew where everything was. "I promise though it gets easier to navigate this place. I'd be happy to show you where that dorm is," he said motioning for her to follow him once he started to talk in the direction of the Orchard dorms.
Luke nodded his head "I'm fine, and whatever game you want is fine with me," and headed into the kitchen area to grab them some gaming snacks, before going back into the living room and taking a seat on the couch in front of the TV ready to play a game and attempt to take his mind off his broken heart. Luke was positive honestly that Calum wasn't buying Luke begin okay, which Luke appreciated that his friend cared so much about him and that he knew him well enough hopefully to know that Luke didn't feel like talking about his problems right now. But when he was ready to talk about them he would. And of course Calum would be the first person Luke went to because what else are best friends for?

Ashton nodded in understanding to her words. "Yeah, but you know I like to check and make sure that things are going okay for you when it comes to moving in," he reminded as he offered a smile over to her and shrugged slightly. "Anyways, let's get to work on what you need help with, yeah?" He arched a brow as he eyed her. "Where are the heavy boxes at? Or do you want me to put a bookcase together or something?" he asked. He figured that, when she said she needed help with the usual stuff, it likely meant that she needed help with one of those two things. Those were her usual problems, after all, and he had no problems with helping her with anything that she needed help with. It made him feel good to help her.
Skylar honestly hoped that her first year wouldn't be that difficult. Getting lost all the time would make things incredibly difficult for her and she really didn't think she'd be able to handle the stress of it if it became reality. When he offered to show her where her dorm was, she couldn't help but to nod quickly. "That would be such a huge help, you have no idea," she said honestly. Otherwise, she'd be stuck roaming around aimlessly and her luggage would probably get lost in the process. "At least that might minimize my chances of getting too lost a little," she admittedly jokingly, though she was plenty serious. At least, if she knew where her dorm was, she could start mapping out ways to get to her classes from there.
Calum offered a nod in response as he grabbed one of the more action-packed games for them. He knew that it'd likely be the best way to distract his friend, give him something to concentrate on other than his broken heart. Hopefully, his friend would manage to move on, though Calum understood that it wasn't easy. At least he hoped his friend knew that there were people here for him if he needed or wanted to talk about everything. "This good for you?" he asked as he showed it to Luke and moved to put it in. He figured that, while he wanted to help Luke, he didn't want to push him, so he'd just wait for Luke to open up on his own and he'd be there for his friend because he knew Luke would do the same for him.

"I know, it's something I love about you," Ebony told him before she kissed his cheek and then pointed towards her room. "The bookcase is going in my room this year, I think after three years I've finally figured out to make it all work out the way I want it to," she told him actually quite proud of her accomplishment. She had been trying to figure out how to make everything fit into her bedroom looking in a way she liked but nothing had worked so far and so she'd left the bookcase in the living area. And usually, she was to distracted by other things to care that her bookcase wasn't in her room. This year, however, Ebony was going to put things the way she wanted and didn't plan on giving up until she was totally happy. But she'd also had three years to figure everything out. "So how's the rest of the band doing? I heard from Calum that Luke's girlfriend broke up with him, is he doing okay?" She asked needing all the details of their summer given she didn't spend much of it with Ashton, or the rest of the boys at all.
Michael smiled and nodded his head. "It's really no problem," he told her. Honestly, he'd kind of figured out this whole campus in the time that he'd been attending UNI here so he felt like he knew it pretty well so he did feel pretty comfortable showing others around. However, Michael didn't have the time to become a member of the welcoming committee. He also wasn't the best with people all the time and so it probably wasn't the best idea for him to do that anyways. "So what are you studying?" He asked her figuring they could at least make small talk in the time it would take him to show her where she was going. "And do you know anyone in the area? Or no?" He added knowing that a lot of people on campus were from other areas of the country and usually knew at least someone not far from the campus which was good. But there were still a handful of people who'd just decided this was the right school for them and showed up not really knowing anyone or even the area that well.
Luke nodded his head. "Yea man that's fine," he said pretty much down for whatever at this point if it meant he'd get Calum off his back about the breakup. Luke totally understood that Cal was just trying to help him and he did appreciate that his friends cared enough to try and help him through things. But really he wasn't sure it was helping. Plus even though Luke did feel like crap about the whole thing, and he wasn't really happy about how things had turned out Luke was kind of starting to feel a little better, and he'd been working on some songs for the band that he thought was pretty good. He didn't like that he'd had to go through all of this to get inspiration, but whatever worked he supposed.
