End of Heartache

  • "Look, I get it - it's all you got but if you don't get rid of it then the chances of this activity getting worse is not an if it's a when. Then there is the chance he could kill you without even meaning to or hurting people close to you," he told her honestly as he looked around. "It's up to you but if you want to get rid of it you need to salt and burn it,"

  • Lauren bit her lip as she began to think. She took the chain from around her neck and I clasped it, handing it over to the man standing in front of her. "Can you do it for me?" She mumbled as she silently begged the tears that were pooling in her eyes not to fall.

  • Dean took the necklace and nodded a little he walked over to an empty bucket that wasn't far, Sam holding the shotgun just in case the spirit tried something - he knew this was hard; he didn't have to be told how hard it was to lose someone in the family. Much less all of your family. He put the ring into the bucket and added lighter fluid, salt and tossed a match in. There was a burst of flames behind her and scream then it was over.

  • Lauren wiped furiously at her eyes, trying to catch the tears before they fell. The pit in her stomach eased off, but it didn't release completely. She took in a deep and shaky breath, watching the two men in front of her. "Thank you," she murmured in a low, soft voice. She was unsure of what to say to him now, but she couldn't stop herself from staring at the man.

  • "Come on, lets get you something to eat and some beer - we can't leave you alone.. not after that," Dean said to her as he gave a weak smile, "He is at peace now - you don't have to worry about him anymore," he murmured to her gently.

  • "It was kinda comforting in a way... I mean now that I think back to it... He was always there for me, ya know?" She let out a small, sad laugh as they made their way back to the vehicles. "I guess I am a hundred percent alone now--since he is officially gone."

  • He sighed, "I'm sorry, but it'll be better now, you won't have to worry about him hurting you anymore and can begin your life the way it was supposed to," he said to her lightly, "Losing someone is never easy - but it all works out the way its supposed to,"

  • She nodded as she arrived back at her car. She was suddenly exhausted, feeling drained from everything that just happened. "I think I am gonna pass on the beer, I already had enough to drink and I am sure I am gonna be having a tough drive home, anyways. But I appreciate you both, a lot.... I'm Lauren, by the way."

  • "I'm Dean and this is my brother Sam - we're kind of born into this life style so we're used to dealing with these kinds of things," he spoke up with a little bit of a smile. "If you ever need anything let us know, that number is to my cell and the one under it is to Sam's in case I don't answer,"

  • Lauren gave him a small, sad nod. She never thought that she would ever be put in this position. With the knowledge that she had now, what else could be out there. Was there anything else hiding and lurking around the corners while plotting its next move? She opened her car door and watched as they turned to walk away. "Hey Dean... Sam? Thank you guys. A lot. Ya'll don't be strangers, okay?"

  • "You too, if you need anything just give us a call," he said to her smiling a little as he loaded up his duffel bag. Dean didn't know what to think of this, he never gave his number so freely but he'd done it.

  • It was a couple weeks later and Lauren couldn't get the green eyed man out of her head. She sat in her apartment, staring at her phone. She contemplated calling him for several minutes before she finally found the courage to do so. She picked up the phone and dialed, her heart pounding in her chest as she listened to it ring.

  • Dean and Sam had been driving around for ages, then Sammy had realized he'd forgotten some books at the last hotel they'd been at; so they turned around to go get them setting them back a few days on their newest case. He pulled out his phone, "Hello?" he said into the phone as he drove.
