Evie smiled then chuckled as he insulted Matt's dinner parties. "They're not always that lame, it just depends on who Matt invites." she said and looked back at him. "But I am pretty board with them." she said and chuckled. "So art... well weekend are usually the best days to go. Saturday brings all the good art out." she said and rubbed her arms. "It's cold but it is so stunning." she said softly her eyes glistening with the lights as her eyes swept across the city. Evie smiled at Ryan. "I can see why you would." she said and turned to him. "How did you first find this place?" she asked.
Oliver chuckled. "Alright you're on. I'll plan something and let you know what day." he said and winked at her. Oliver sipped his water as well and ordered the lasagna. He grinned and then looked back at Lexi. "So come on tell me how's work going?" he asked knowing that this was probably the only time for the next few days he would be able to give her his complete and undivided attention.

Ryan smiled, "So Saturday it is." He said confidently. He smiled at her, "Well i was just riding one day and i seen it." He said with a shrug. He put his cigarette out, "We can head back if you are too cold. Wouldn't want you to get sick before Saturday." He teased as he walked to his bike and offered her the helmet. "Plus Matthew is probably worried about you." He teased her. "Guys nuts about you." He said, chuckling. He started the bike and waited for her to get on.
Lexi shrugged, "It's going good. I just wish i could get paid to stay home and watch tv." She said, laughing softly. Lexi smiled as she watched him for a moment. "Oliver are you really going ot marry this girl." She asked. She didn't want him to marry someone and be miserable. "I mean what if you hate her and are stuck with her forever. What if she doesn't let you talk to me." She said, frowning.

Evie nodded making a mental note to keep Saturday open. He told her the story and she smiled thinking how she loved to just go for a drive and find new places to love. "I'm not to cold but I guess you're right Matt does worry a lot." she said and blushed as he said Matt was crazy about her. She shook her head and took the helmet putting it on. "Matt is just a friend. I have told him this many times." she said and bit her lip hoping she never gave him the impression that there could be more between them. She honestly tried not to. Evie got on the bike warming more as she pressed her body to his before the bike took off. Evie clung tighter to Matt and closed her eyes listening to his breath and his heart beat. It was amazing to ride on the motorcycle. She loved how it made her heart thump wildly and her body shake. Evie felt like she was flying on the bike, or even that she was holding onto Superman.
Oliver chuckled and nodded. "I hear you I don't want to be learning all the tricks of the trade from my father." he said and shook his head. He sipped his water and frowned as she asked him a question he didn't want to answer. His night had been going so well. Oliver had managed not to be thinking about his fiancee for the hole evening until now. Oliver ran a hand through his hair. "I proposed already Lexi. It doesn't make it easy but my parents think she's a good fit for me. I know it's not ideal but I'm going to give it a try." he said and bit his lip then reached over and took her hand in both of his. "But let me tell you this Lexi. No one is going to separate us. I don't care if she doesn't like it you're my best friend and she'll just have to deal with it or get a divorce." he said.

Ryan drove back to the apartment building and parked his bike. He smiled as he took his helmet off and walked back to the apartment with her. "We are back." He said, frowning when he seen Matt passed out on the couch. The guy had been drinking alot lately. Ryan sighed as he looked at Evie, "Sorry." He said, feeling bad that he kept her away from Matt too long. Ryan set his stuff down and took his jacket off.
Lexi frowned, pulling away from him. "This is the worst thing you have ever done. You really believe the crap you are throwing at me. You aren't going to divorce her to be my friend Oliver. You already let your parents pick you fucking mate for life so how about you do us both a favor and cut the crap. Let's be real. This girl is going to meet me, not like me because let's be honest i'm hot. Girl's don't like when their fiance's hang out with hot girls Oliver. So she is going to make you not talk to me Oliver and you are going to do it because you have this sick need to please your parents." She said, looking away from him. She knew it was harsh, but she was upset.

Evie got off the bike and walked into the apartment. "It's fine." she said and then looked at Matt and sighed. She took his drink from his hand and poured it down the sink. "Hey Ryan will you help me get him to bed?" she asked and took of her jacket and pushed Matt's shoulder. "Matt come on let's get you to bed." she said. Matt grumbled and she helped him sit up. She put his arm around her shoulder and stumbled back a little as they stood up. Evie groaned and helped Matt to his bed. She tossed him in and then took off his shoes. She then unbuttoned his shirt and pulled it off rolling him onto his belly and shook her head as he cuddled a pillow. Evie went back out to the living room and sat down.
Oliver shook his head and ran his hand through his hair. "What do you expect me to do Lexi!" he shouted then his eyes widened. He hadn't expected to get so loud but what she had said hurt. Oliver shook his head. He was going to have to leave if they couldn't change the subject soon. Oliver didn't want to fight with Lexi. He cared about her and he hated that she didn't believe him. Oliver wouldn't let anyone come between him and Lexi but it seemed it was already happening.

Ryan nodded and went over, helping get Matt into the bedroom. He walked back to the kitchen, making himself a sandwich. He sat on the couch, smiling at Evie joined him. "So who else is your friend besides Matt?" He asked as he took a bite of his sandwich. He was curious to know more about her. She seemed to be pretty social from what he had seen. Ryan set his plate down and leaned back against the couch.
Lexi stared at him, "I want you to stand up for yourself and tell them no." She said. She looked away from him, then was glad when the waiter brought their food. "Can i get this to go." She asked. She watched as he boxed it up and paid for her food. "I'm leaving." She told Oliver before standing up and walked out with her food. She didn't want to argue with him and sitting there was only making it worse. Lexi walked out onto the street and sighed as she looked around. The fresh air was nice.

Evie smiled at Ryan. "Well no one you know. I guess I'm friendly with Chloe but I wouldn't exactly call us friends." she said. "Other than that one of my best friends other than Matt is Laney." Evie took off her heels and pulled her legs up onto the couch as she turned towards Ryan. "I have a few work... acquaintances. And a few friends that like a few of the rings I do but hardly anyone knows one another so that makes birthday parties really awkward." she said and chuckled resting her head in her hand that leaned against the back of the couch.
Oliver shook his head. He looked at the waiter and nodded. "Mine as well." he said and paid for both of their meals. He walked after Lexi holding his bag and then walked after her and grabbed her waist spinning her so she fell into him a little. "Lexi I don't want to fight." Oliver said looking down at her. "Please Lexi please forgive me for not being as strong as you." he said his eyes looking so sad at her. Oliver didn't want their night to end like this.

Ryan smiled, "See this is why you have to have few friends. Then you don't have to worry if someone doesnt get along." He said, laughing softly. Ryan took a sip of his water then leaned back against the couch, "So Matt says you moved here a few years ago. What did you do before you moved to the city?" He asked her. He was curious because he had always lived in the city and never seen anything outside of it.
Lexi stared at him, "You can be strong, but you just don't want to be." She said as seh stared up at him. She couldn't help but feel hurt. She looked away from him, "I don't know if i can watch you destroy your life." She said as she ran her fingers through her hair. She didn't want him to be miserable.

Evie smiled at Ryan as he asked about where she was from. "Well I am from Maine. I moved here at 20 and finished up my schooling. I was really lucky to get into the fast track program I did and find my job. I haven't been in my job very long actually." she said and chuckled. "But it has been nice to say the least. I got tired being a waitress at a 24 hour diner. You wouldn't believe the characters that come in around 3 in the morning." she said and chuckled shaking her head. But really I didn't do that much before I came her other than junior collage and helping my mom in her veterinary clinic."
Oliver sighed and looked down at her. "But how do you know if this will destroy my life? What if this is the best thing that ever happens to me for one reason or another. I don't know about you but to me this seems like perhaps the hardest thing I have ever done." he said and bit his lip. "I tell you what Lexi. If this doesn't work out I'll leave her. You have my word on it Lexi." he said and looked into her eyes. "But can you believe in me that I can do what I have given you my word on?" he asked.

Ryan smiled, "Well sounds like you had a good plan." He said as he watched her. The girl was way ahead of him in life and it was a little intimidating, but he did something he loved so it didn't matter. "You you like your job?" He asked. He knew some people did their job, but didn't really enjoy them. Ryan took a sip of his drink, then set it down. Ryan thought for a moment, "So what time did you want me to pick you up Saturday?" He asked.
Lexi stared at him, "Fine." She said. She sighed as shook her head, "Don't say i didn't warn you." She said, looking up at him. She didn't want to have to watch him with some other girl, but now she was going to have to. Lexi crossed her arms, not sure what else to say to him. She bit her bottom lip lightly, "I still don't really like the idea." She said.

Evie told Ryan again why she liked her job. "Well like I was telling you before I always loved science and looking through a microscope. So you can say that is why I love my job the since of it. Science doesn't lie it tells you everything you need to know if you know how to listen right. It's kind of amazing how much art you can see through a microscope too." she said and smiled. "Though I guess with cancer cells it's like the saddest art you will ever see." she said and chuckled at herself. Evie relaxed and closed her eyes. He asked what time she wanted him to pick her up on Saturday. "Oh well I guess it really depends what kind of art you want too see and if you want any breakfast at this little cafe I know down town." she said and smiled. "Their the best in New York I believe." she said and smiled at him. Once they agreed upon a time she smirked. "This time I'll be sure to wear something more appropriate for you're motorcycle." she said and chuckled. "Well Ryan I better be getting home." she said and stood starting to get her stuff totally intending to take the subway home again by herself.
Oliver sighed and nodded. "I know Lexi." he said and kissed her cheek. "Let me drive you home." he said and then walked with her back to the car. So it wasn't the perfect ending to their night but at least Lexi wasn't stopping off pissed at him. Oliver sat in the car in silence as they drove towards her place. He thought about all she had said and he didn't see why she was so pissed off at the situation. Yes it sucked but it was necessary too. This might be the best thing he has ever done. He just wasn't sure how it would be yet. Oliver knew he hadn't given Rebecca much of a chance and he could understand why that would piss her off too. Oliver knew he needed to spend more time with her and get to know her.

Ryan smiled, "So i will see you at nine then." He said, liking the idea of breakfast. He smirked at what she said about his motorcycle, "Yea good idea." He teased as he stood up with her. He watched as she got her stuff, "You sure you don't want me to walk you home?" He asked, looking down at her. Something made him feel really protective of her and he wasn't sure what it was. Ryan knew that he shouldn't smother her though. He didn't want her to feel like he was clingy.
Lexi sighed and got in his car, relaxing as he drove her home. She looked over at him, "I will talk to you later." She said, hugging him. She didn't want to let go of him. Lexi pulled away, "Goodnight." She said, before she got out and walked to her apartment.

The next morning Lexi looked around a small record store where she liked to spend some days. She had always been a fan of records rather than anything else. She frowned when she felt someone standing next to her. She looked over, surprised to see Oliver's mother. "Um..hi." She said. She frowned when the woman looked at her, "Look Lexi is it?" The woman said, "I'm willing to make you a wonderful deal if you leave Oliver alone for good. So how about i write you a check for a couple thousand dollars and you can disappear." She suggested. Lexi glared at her, "You're a sick woman you know that? How dare you ask me something like that." She snapped before putting down the record she had in her hand and storming out. Lexi bit her bottom lip lightly as she walked down the street. Lexi walked to Oliver's apartment and knocked on his door, frowning when he didn't answer. Lexi sighed as she sat in front of his door and played on her phone. She had to tell him what his mother was doing.

Evie smiled and nodded. "Yeah see you at nine." she said and pulled on her coat. Evie smiled and chuckled as Ryan asked if she was sure that she didn't want him to walk her home. She chuckled again and smiled more. "You're cute Ryan. You can walk me home if it makes you feel better." she said took his hand. "But I'm tougher than I look." she said and gave him a flirty wink before letting his hand go and walking towards the door. Honestly Evie didn't mind the company. She defiantly felt safe with Ryan but Evie had always taken care of herself even when she walked the dangerous streets.
Oliver dropped Rebecca off at the country club to meet up with her friends after they had a stiff but still pleasant day together. It was nearly five and Oliver was anxious to get home. Oliver drove home and parked walking up to his apartment he saw Lexi sitting at his door step and frowned. "Lexi!" He moved over to her and kneeled before her taking her shoulders. "What's wrong?" he asked. She could have let herself in or called him. She looked like she had been out here for hours. He was worried about what could have happened to cause her to be in such a state.

Ryan smiled, "It would make me feel better." He said as he pulled his jacket on. He smiled when she took his hand then walked out with her. He walked her to her apartment and smiled. "Well i will see you Saturday then." He said as he let go of her hand and stepped back from her. "Have a good night Evie." He said as he watched her get her keys. He wanted to make sure she got in her apartment before he left.
Lexi looked at him, frowning, "Your mother that's what is wrong Oliver." She said as she got to her feet. She handed him the check that his mom gave her. "Apparently your mother thinks she can pay me to stop being friends with you." She said, crossing her arms. "You promised this wouldn't happen." She whispered, looking away from him.

Evie smiled as Ryan stood at her door with her. "You have a good night too Ryan. And get home safe." she said and smiled opening her door and slipping in closing the door after one last look at Ryan. She bit her lip sinking back against her door thinking about how good it would be to taste Ryan. She wanted to get a taste of those lips and a feel for that body. Evie sighed and took off her heels. She pushed them to the side with her foot and took down her hair. She ruffled her hand through her hair. "Mmm." She stretched and started to head towards her room. She was ready for bed now.
Oliver frowned and stood with her. He looked down at the check and shook his head. "I had no idea!" he said getting angry. He looked at Lexi and shook his head. "Look I'm going to talk to her. "This is no okay." he said and ripped the check up. "I'm sorry Lexi it's not right that she did this." he said and pulled out his keys opening the door. "Come inside... please." he said softly and ran a hand through his hair. "Look this is going to stop but I just need you to hold for me." he said and then opened the door widely for her. He hadn't promised that his mom or Rebecca wouldn't be cruel but that he wouldn't let it come between them. He was realizing though that he could only do so much and the rest was up to her. She had to hold onto her friendship as much as he did.

That Saturday Ryan walked up to Evie's door and knocked. He was excited to finally get out of the house and spend some time with her. Ryan smiled as she opened the door, "Hey." He said, "You ready?" He asked. He was hoping she would enjoy spending the day with him and he wanted to make sure that was what happened.
Lexi sighed and walked into his apartment, "It's fine Oliver. I just thought you should know what your snake of a mother was up to." She said as she sat down on his couch. She looked at him, "You know she is going to keep trying to get rid of me." She said as she ran her fingers through her hair.

Evie smiled as she opened the door for Ryan and smiled at him. "Morning." she said and pulled on her jacket. "Right on time." She said and then stepped out and locked her house up slipping her keys into her jacket pocket. "Alright do you know were Madison Street is?" she asked knowing he wouldn't really be able to hear destructions from the back of his motorcycle with the wind. Evie followed him down to his bike and took the helmet he offered her securing it tightly under her chin as she watched him effortlessly glide onto his bike. She smiled and got on behind him her arms wrapping around his waist. And this right here was why she wanted to get her hands all over him because this was just a tease and she liked what she was feeling.
Oliver sighed. "I am glad you told me." he said and then looked down at her sighing and sitting next to her. He looked over at Lexi and shook his head. "Well it's not going to work... right?" he asked looking at her. Oliver was worried now that something had changed and Lexi was going to leave him. He didn't know what he would do if that happened. Oliver turned towards Lexi not liking the insecurity there in his own voice. Oliver took her hand and looked at her. "Lexi I can't control my mother as much as I sometimes would like to but I can take care of you in what ever way you need. You just let me know and I will drop everything for you." he said and then cupped her cheek and kissed her head. "Now come here you look all shaken up." he said and opened his arms wanting her against his chest to measure himself that she was staying.

Ryan walked down to his bike with her and nodded, "Yea i know where it is." He said as he put his helmet on. He got onto the bike, then waited for her to get on. Ryan smiled as he revved his engine and took off to where they were going. Ryan parked his bike and got off of it. "So where do you want to start?" He asked as he took his helmet off. He smiled at her as he watched her take the helmet off. He pushed a loose strand of hair out of her face and smirked, "You really are going to start hating this bike." He teased.
Lexi looked at him, "Of course it's not going to work." She said. She smiled as he kissed her cheek then wrapped her arms around his waist and moved closer to him. She rested her head on his chest when she felt his arms wrap around her. Lexi always felt safe in his arms and now there was a chance she would never get to be in them again.

Once they got to Madison Street she got off the bike and took of the helmet smiling as Ryan tucked a piece of her hair back fixing her hair for her. She looked up at him and chuckled. "Why would you say that?" She asked. She didn't see why she would hate the bike at least for the rest of fall. Winter though would be terrible to ride a motorcycle in. She took his hand and slowly started to walk up the street. "I don't know about you but I think we should start with breakfast and coffee." she said and smiled at Ryan. Evie walked with him into a little cafe and smiled as big Jim greeted her by name. "Evie." he smiled and walked over to her with two menus. "Got a friend I see." he said and Evie smiled and nodded. "Ryan this is Big Jim. Jim this is Ryan." she said and followed Jim as he lead them to a table in the back. "Well Ryan you better be treating this one here with the upmost respect. She's a really doll." he said and Evie chuckled. "Jim." she shook her head and sat down. Jim shook Ryan's hand and smiled. "Aww you'll work out just fine." he said and smacked a hand on Ryan's shoulder before leaving them the menus. "Brandie will be right over." he said and Evie smiled. "Thanks Jim." she said and looked at Ryan. "Now what were you saying about me and you're bike?" she asked.
Oliver kissed the top of her head and relaxed into her. He sighed and thought about what he was going to do. "I want you to meet Rebecca. I know you don't like her and she's kind of hard to get a long with sometimes but maybe that will help the situation." he said softly his head resting against hers so his hot breath made a strand of her hair move back and forth with his breath. Oliver knew it could go the other way too and Rebecca could flip out and totally hate Lexi but he was hoping they could become something resembling friends at least for his sake. He would talk to Rebecca about it too.

Ryan nodded, "Breakfast sounds like a good idea." He said as he walked with her. He smiled as they walked in and the guy up front started talking to him. He shook the man's hand, "I will try my best." He said. He watched as the guy left then sat down in front of Evie, "Eventually you are going to hate having your hair messed up so much." He teased her. He grabbed one of the menus and began to look over it. He was glad it wasn't overpriced. Ryan had money, but he just couldn't see spending a ton of money at a restaurant. "So what is good to eat here?" He asked, looking up at her.
Lexi looked at him, "Oliver do i have to?" She asked. "Honestly i don't want to, but if you are making me i will." She said. She snuggled back into him and let her fingers move against his side. Lexi wanted to much to touch him in ways that friends really shouldn't. She couldn't shake the feelings she was having for him now and they kept getting stronger.
