[i'm here!! apologies that it took so long /.\]
Tobin twirls the end of her ponytail around her finger, shooting anyone who dared to glance at her a beaming smile. It was a good day, honestly; work had gone better than wonderful, letting her off a few hours early due to a busted pipe. Chances are, she wouldn't have to report in for the rest of the week, which was music to her ears. And now she's able to wind back at her favorite club in the city, one that was always filled to the brim with beautiful women. There are always girls that are just a bit buzzed and far too happy to kiss her cheek or grind against her or maybe - maybe - both. She's able to let her hair down here (both figuratively and literally, seeing as the ponytail holder usually ended up around her wrist by the end of the night), and for her, nothing was more amazing.

She takes a seat at the bar, unable to stop herself from laughing when the bartender meets her gaze. "I don't know what's funny," he mutters, grinning despite his tone. "You know as well as I do why you're here all the damned time. When're you gonna settle down, Tobin?"

"That's why I'm here, dude," she says. "I'm looking for the right one, that's all. I'll get there."

He rolls his eyes as he wipes down a glass. "No need to defend yourself to me, I don't give a shit. You're kinda paying my bills, often as you show up." With a shrug, he looks past Tobin to the crowd swaying and jumping. "I think that one has her eye on you. Think she could be the right one?"

Tobin turns, following his line of sight to fall into the light, hypnotizing eyes of a woman with an almost cocky smile and an empty drink in her hand. She whips back around immediately after catching the stranger's sight, her cheeks heating. "I don't know. She's, uh. Pretty. Maybe. I need to evaluate, you know."

"I think you'll get a chance to. Here she comes." Before Tobin gets to splutter out her shock, he winks and steps to the side to play with his phone. 'Probably texting his boyfriend and leaving me hanging,' she thinks, just a bit bitter, before all of her attention is pulled to the pretty, pretty woman that is now sitting beside her.

"Um," Tobin mumbles oh so intelligently. "Hi."

    [hope that was good! Cute]

(It's okay and it was amazing!!)

"Hello," Alex smiles, trying to act natural. "I'm Alex."

The girl smiles shyly, and whispers, "Tobin." As if someone was listening in. She looks nervous to Alex, and she can't seem to get why.

"You're so beautiful, miss...why did you come here alone?" Alex asks even though she already knows the answer.

"I never told you I came alone..." Tobin says, and Alex for once blushes.

"Oh, sorry. Well, Tobin, how about going on a date with me tomorrow night at nine o'clock?"

Tobin smiled and hands over her phone to Alex.

"So I'll call you when I'm on the way!" Alex smiles before walking out of the bar.

    She'll never know

    (Hope this wasn't too short :( )

[it was wonderful! no worries tehe]

Tobin has never actually been nervous for a date. Whether it's due to the fact that the only actual dates she's ever been on were playdates or trips to the ice cream shop when she was in middle school is nothing to think about; right now, all she's allowed to focus on is what in the hell she's going to wear. And say. And do.

She considers calling Alex - who, funnily enough, put her name in Tobin's phone as Alex <3, as though they're destined to work - to ask what she has in mind, but decides against it just as her thumb settles over the other woman's name. Calling so early probably wouldn't do good for a first impression. Sure, technically they met last night, but it still feels so fresh and new (not to mention unbelievable) that it seems she's still standing on impression number one.

Tobin sits on her bed, ignoring the knocking above her head. Her upstairs neighbors have always been a couple of loud bastards - two young guys who can't seem to stay quiet no matter how many times they apologize for the noise -, and yet, even they can't distract her from the panic that's beginning to rise at the thought of going on a date with someone so beautiful and interesting. She knows little to nothing about Alex, and the allure is doing nothing but making her frantic.

Just as she remembers she needs to breathe to be able to make it to the date tonight, she gets a text.

Alex <3: can't wait to see you tonight! :)

Oh, no, she's looking forward to it. She's got expectations. Expectations that Tobin will probably not meet because oh God, she's a wreck.

She decides while she's still got her head on straight that she at least needs to get an outfit together. After ripping through her closet twice, she settles on a short black dress and mauve booties, showing so much leg that she's worried it might be too much; Alex wouldn't mind, would she? And maybe her hair should go up in a ponytail? Or is that too casual?

At the very least, all the worry helps keep Tobin's mind off the question of why Alex was so damned cold when they brushed hands in the passing of her phone.

[this dragged on forEVER omg Facepalm]

Alex fucked up, and she was hoping Tobin didn't catch on...but she did. To her, she knew that she had to kill the innocent girl. But didn't know if she could. The girl - her date - was way too innocent, and definitely naive.

"I've got to get ready for this date." Alex said to herself, not sure how to go about doing this. She hadn't had a date with anyone in over a hundred years.

"Why do you look nervous, Lex?" Kelley asked, and Alex flashed her fangs.

"Because I've got to kill this innocent girl, and make her one of us. Do you not realize how nerve wracking this is?" Alex shook her head, and added. "Of course not, you're a beta. Hope turned you into one and you two are happy happy joy joy."

    "You sound jealous."

    "I am not jealous."

    "You definitely are,"

"Shut up," Alex paused when Hope, the most feared vampire walked in the room.

"Alex, Alex, Alex. It's either you turn her...or I do. Make your decision, because you know exactly how rough I am."

[Sorry this took so long. I hope you like it!]

[it's no problem; i loved it!]

Tobin stands in front of the mirror, looking herself over for the final time. It's nearing nine and Alex just called moments ago to announce her impending arrival. To say that Tobin is nervous is an understatement, but she trains her face until it's nearly impossible to tell. She remembers hearing once that confidence was attractive; hopefully, with enough luck, Alex will think Tobin is the most confident woman alive.

With her track record, though, she'll be lucky if Alex doesn't think she's an idiot by the end of the night.

Just as she's tightening her ponytail for the millionth time, there's a knock at the front door. Oh, God. It's time.

Tobin hurries out of her room, snatching her jacket off of the couch before opening the door to see the gorgeous woman that rendered her near-speechless the night before. She's just as beautiful as she was at the bar, though this time she's dressed more for a proper date than a night out. Tobin knows she's red in the face at this point, but oh, well. Maybe Alex thinks it's cute (of course it's a long shot, but).

"Hi!" she says a bit too enthusiastically. Looking down, she sees that Alex's jacket sleeves cover her hands. She must know how cold to the touch she is; perhaps she has anemia or something? This isn't the right thing to think about before a first date. Just focus on the pretty lady and don't be stupid. "You look really pretty."

"Thank you; you're looking beautiful yourself," Alex smiles, looking and sounding more put together than Tobin could ever hope to be.

"You–ah, thanks." Alex takes her hand, the sleeve blanketing her touch, and leads her out of the apartment complex. Her car is insanely nice, which only furthers Tobin's wonder at why a girl like this is bothering with her at all. She mumbles, "Holy..." before getting in. She prays that the bottom of her shoes aren't dirty; she'd hate to screw up any bit of this car or this night. "So, uh, where're we going?"

Alex only grins. "It's a surprise. Just sit back and enjoy the ride, okay?"

A surprise. Surprises are not unconventional. Tobin is only nervous because this is a date with a pretty girl.

    This is normal.
