Camilla smiled as Nicholas asked if she was ready. She nodded. She was so ready. She had done so much studying and preparing she was up to her ears in it. She knew all the legends and the cultural norms and the politics. She had dedicated her every spare moment to preparing herself for queen and though she was still working on the finer points of the laws and the tiny things no one would really notice she was ready. "Yes I'm ready." she said. She shook her head as he asked if she needed anything. "I want to go to the orphanage and the markets. I want our people to know my heart is for every single one of our people to succeed." she said and took a bite of her food. She was ready for this and was excited she was getting to do it with Nicholas. She was sure that she would do more with the queen and the people soon. She was spending time with the queen and the nobles and some of the nobles she was getting along with well on her own but there was nothing like being out with the people and Nicholas.
Felix hung his head. He didn't know what to say to her. He couldn't make her feel better and it was so wrong that he couldn't make his princess feel safe in her new home. Felix ran a hand through his hair. "I will figure something out Charlotte." He said though he had no idea what to do. He felt so powerless and that was not a feeling he enjoyed at all. He was a man that did things and accomplished things. This would ruin him if he could not fix this. He frowned as she pulled away from him and he sat back and nodded. His face was hiding the hurt behind a hard expression. "Write to him but I will keep you safe, even if I have to sleep out in front of your door myself." he said and waited until she left before he hung his head in his hands. He had so little control but he was going to go take some of that back now. This was madness. They were wasting guards on protecting someone that should be safe instead of placing them where they are needed throughout the kingdom and it was his own people causing this issue. Felix pushed back. He wanted to break something and later he would but first he had to speak to his father. The had to leave and his father needed to figure this out. That was the end of it. Felix would run the country from Aldannia if he had to.

Nicholas offered her a nod at her requests. The orphanage and the markets were both good places to see when they were in town. Though it would depend on what their general would say when they arrived. It was hard to tell what would take place just because they arrived in town. Sometimes the people became overzealous... Not in a way to harm them purposely but it would get out of control.

"We may also want to visit the center of town," Nicholas told her after a moment. He wanted to give her a chance to see as many people as possible. And, with this town being the closest to the palace, it was also one of the largest. But after they were done there, they would be riding further south for the day. Just to see a town a little closer to the grain shortage that had occurred. Though they couldn't get too close as it wasn't safe. "They will soon love you, I know this."
Charlotte headed to her room to write to her father. There was a lot that she already had to tell him about but now this had to take the forefront from other issues that needed to be resolved. Understandable but still annoying. But as she wrote, Charlotte couldn't stop her mind from drifting on what to do. But what could she do? There were people looking for the culprit of these threats. And it would be unwise for Charlotte to be searching through clues around the castle. Perhaps she needed to go home for some time where she would be safe. Felix wouldn't like the distance but she knew she was safe there. With a sigh, Charlotte tried her best to keep focus on the letter.

The day trudged slowly but Charlotte eventually found herself sitting in the library, flipping through different books about the castle. She was curious to know if there were secret pathways like there was in her palace. Maybe the culprit was able to get around with no one seeing them? Though even as she read the books, Charlotte felt a bit like a manic trying to find something she had no proof of because she was getting assassination threats.
