It was true that Camilla’s answer was not exactly what he wanted to hear. However, he saw hope in what she said. After all it had only been a week, and he had to understand that Camilla had to give up everything that she knew when she was forced to move here. It was probably just a matter of time for Camilla to get used to being here with him. And Nicolas thought that he would be able to make her glad to live with him. At least she never seemed to be truly unhappy. And she was always able to put a smile on his face.
Though with Camilla’s question, he went quiet. It was a bit difficult for him to answer, considering there were a few people that he really did trust. Though with everything? That was a bit harder. He trusted his parents, but Nicolas did hide a few things from them, like the few times that he snuck out of the castle. Though there was one person in particular that Nicolas trusted with everything. “My friend, Phillip.” He said with a grin. “Others call him Lord Jacobs. His estate is pretty close to the castle so he comes here often. He is most likely to be my Lord Chancellor.” Lord Chancellor was basically the king’s right hand man. The guy that the king trusted the most, and would be in charge when the king could not be there. “You haven’t met him yet, but he should be back in the country in the next few days.”
Charlotte set down her fork and knife once she was finished with her food. She continued to be pleasantly surprised with the cuisine. It was really quite good, which she was very grateful for. “I only have my class this morning, so I think that I can make before lunch work.” She joked lightly. It actually gave her some time to get work done before going to the stables. If she was able to get enough done, she might even be able to go early to spend some time with the horses. Charlotte really did miss being around animals. They had such a calming effect on her. Her family even used to have hunting dogs, but they died before the war. Once her plate was taken away, Charlotte stood up. “I need to head to my class, but I am looking forward to seeing you later. Have fun at your meetings.” She gave him a warm smile before heading out of the room.
