River finished unpacking his things, laughing with his friends Marcus and Lance as they talked about the season coming up. River was excited for soccer to start. He was good at it, no not good amazing. River was still waiting for his roommate to arrive and he was hoping that they wouldn't be lame. River looked over when he heard the door open, seeing a guy come from it. River and his friends raised and eyebrow at him. He was short and not what River thought he would be. River walked over to him, "What's up man?" He asked as he shook the guys hand. He backed up as his friends looked at them. "That's Marcus and Lance. Just call Lance skills." He said before returning to his bed. River sat down, looking over at the new kid, "So you are new here?" He asked, "What's your name again?" He asked.

Admittedly, Skylar was a little nervous about this. It wasn't exactly her best idea. But, after she'd cut her hair and gotten new clothes, she could at least past for a guy, albeit a slightly feminine looking one. And it was all for her favorite sport, the only sport she was any good at: soccer. No schools nearby her home had any female soccer teams, so the only option was an all-male boarding school that was about a half hour from her home. She wasn't sure if she could pull this off and trick everybody into believing that she was a guy, but she planned to give it her all, even if she knew it would be awkward having a male roommate. When she walked into the dorm room, she paused for a moment when she spotted the three guys. Would she be able to fool these three at least? "Oh, nothing much," she decided to answer with a casual shrug. "I just got here, so yeah, I'm new. Good to meet you three." She glanced around, eying the room for a bit before she set her bag on the free bed. "Name's Skylar. What's yours? You only introduced your friends. Are we all supposed to be sharing this room?"

River looked at her, "My name's River." He said, looking at his friend. "No they are just hanging out here for now. It's just me and you here." He said as he put his bag under his bed. He watched Skylar for a moment, "Is this your first boarding school?" He asked him. Marcus noticed the new guys soccer stuff, "You play soccer?" He asked, interrupting River. River looked at Skylar, waiting for him to answer. They all seemed intrigued to hear his answer. River put the rest of his stuff then sat in his desk chair, watching his new roommate. Of course typical male pack behavior. Scoping out the new person and checking for threats.

It was both relieving and alarming to know that River was the only person Skylar was meant to share the room with. While it was relieving because she didn't have to be on guard around two extra people all the time, it was alarming because she'd be alone in a room with a guy - an attractive guy at that. Still, she nodded. "Yeah, guess I'm considered a first-timer," she admitted after a moment, though she blinked and looked to her things before she nodded again. "Yeah. It's the whole reason why I came to this school in the first place. I love it." Soccer was so freeing, yet intense. It kept her on her toes and she had to focus a lot on reflexes, which was something she loved.

Marcus nodded, "River is team captain." He said, seeing the boy perk up. River looked at Skylar, "I guess we will see you at tryouts tomorrow then." He said as he leaned back against his chair. "I'm sure you will do fine." He said. He turned to his computer and made sure that his program he needed for his one class installed. He watched as his friends left, then looked at Skylar, "You wanna grab something to eat at the cafeteria?" He asked as he stood up. He grabbed his hoodie, pulling it on. He looked at the other boy, knowing he would want to tag along. He walked out with him and went to the cafeteria, getting the food he wanted. Marcus was a very in shape guy, but he ate like someone who wasn't.

Skylar wasn't sure what to think, honestly. Was it a good thing that her roommate was team captain? Or did that mean that her life was going to become hell if she made the team? And what if she didn't make the team? Would he make fun of her for it? She tried not to think about it and looked to River when he suggested getting food. "Oh, sure. I don't really know where the cafeteria is," she admitted before she moved to follow after him, though she glanced around every now and then as she grabbed what she wanted to eat once they got to the cafeteria. "So, you're team captain? Means you're the best on the team, right?"

River looked up from the nachos he was eating. "Yea im the best." He told him. "I mean the whole team is amazing, but i guess the coach thinks i just kind of push them to do well." He explained. "The boarding school actually is paying for me to be here." He said before going back to eating his nachoes. He leaned back looking at Skylar, "so where did you go to school before this?" He asked.

"That's cool," Skylar admitted with a small smile, though she wasn't sure if it was a good thing or not still. Hearing his question, she blinked. "Oh, I was homeschooled," she quickly lied, not wanting him to search up the school if he started to get suspicious.

River nodded, "Well at least you aren't weird like most homeschooled kids." He said, smirking. He went back to eating his nachoes then looked over as his friends joined them. River listened to Marcus talk about some girl he was talking to. River took a sip of his water then leaned back against his chair. He looked at Skylar, something was off about the guy, but he couldn't place it. Maybe he was just gay or something. Not that it would bother River. River finished eating, throwing his trash away. He looked at Skylar, "So you want me to give you the tour of campus?" He asked. He figured they should be friends since they would be seeing a lot of each other.

Skylar hadn't talked much after that and she had tried to focus on eating. She didn't pay much attention to what the others were talking about, though she wondered if she should have gotten involved with the conversation. Then again, that might seem like she was trying too hard or that she felt too comfortable with them when she didn't. When she finished eating, she threw her trash away, though she glanced to River upon hearing his question. "A tour?" she repeated before she nodded, "Sure, if you don't mind. It'd help a lot."

River nodded then walked out with her. He walked through the campus showing Skylar all the things he needed to see. When he got back to their room he walked in, pulling his hoodie off. "I'm gonna go shower." He said, pulling his shirt off. He grabbed his clothes then walked off to the showers. He showered then walked in the room with a towel around his waist.

Skylar was mildly surprised to see River pulling his shirt off. It was easy to catch sight of and admire his toned torso, though she was quick to avert her gaze until he left. Once she was alone, she breathed out a sigh and tried to forget the image, though River had come back with just a towel around his waist and that made things worse. Glancing away, she tried to will the blush on her cheeks to disappear and reached to grab a book to bury her face in in an attempt to read.

River dropped his towel, pulling on a pair of boxers and a pair of basketball shorts. River laid on his bed, looking through his phone. He looked over at Skylar, "You ready for tryouts tomorrow?" He asked him. He knew that he was probably really nervous.

"Ah, yeah," Skylar said with a small nod, though she kept her eyes on the book. "I think I might get some practice in in the motning, before classes." It was what she usually did, anyways. She wanted to keep her skills growing at a good pace and if she didn't practice, she'd probably get rusty. Usually, though, she had somebody to practice with. She supposed she could practice off campus, with one of her guy friends.

River nodded, "I can help you if you want. I mean if you don't mind. I know what coach is looking for." He said, smiling. He put his phone on the charger, then turned his lamp off. When Skylar agreed he set his alarm. "Alright, goodnight." He said. He closed his eyes, waking up the next morning as his alarm went off. It was still dark outside and it was probably earlier than what Skylar was use to. River got up, getting ready and chugged down a protien shake. He pulled the blanket off Skylar, "Let's go!" He yelled at the boy. River was very serious when it came to fitness and practice. He grabbed his soccer ball and waited for Skylar.

Skylar wasn't too surprised to hear River waking her up. He was loud, sure, but it didn't really bother her. Blinking her eyes open, she glanced up at the boy and moved to climb off the bed, though her movements were sluggish as she was still trying to force away her sleepiness. "I think I'll run to the soccer field, to wake me up a bit better," she said after a moment, "After I get dressed." She moved to grab her things and headed to the door to go change somewhere more private, likely the bathrooms since they'd be empty. "I'll meet you there."

River nodded, "Alright see you there." He said. He went out the door and ran to the soccer field. Once he was there he started to practice on his own. He didn't mind spending his time alone practicing. He had did that most of his life. River looked over as Skylar joined him, "You ready?" He asked. After they practiced for hours River sat down on the bench, taking a swig of his water.

Skylar was glad that she had managed to get the practice in. once she had caught her breath and calmed her body, she drank a couple gulps of water and laid down on the grass, staring up at the sky. They still had a while before classes started and she figured relaxing in the grass was a good way to spend that small amount of free time. "Thanks for practicing with me," she mentioned after a moment as she glanced over at River.

River looked at her, "No problem." He said, smiling. He finished his water, then threw the bottle of water in the trash. "Well i'm gonna head back and get a shower before class. "I will see you at practice." He said. He left the other boy there and went to get ready for the day.
