Though Henry was anxious about this date, he was also fairly excited. He wondered, for a moment, if he was this excited because he hadn't been on a date in so long or if it was because Cupid's Arrow seemed so confident about their successful matching skills. If they'd managed to properly match him, he wondered what all had made it possible to match him with somebody.
As he stared at himself in his mirror, he wasn't sure whether dressing the way he was was appropriate. Did he look too dressy? He smoothed his hands over his
shirt and let out a sigh. It was just a date at a cafe, so maybe this wasn't the best choice. Regardless, he didn't have enough time to change before he'd have to go to the cafe, so he gathered his keys and headed out.
Heading to his car, he went to his car and unlocked it before he opened it and got in. Starting it, he checked the time again, but tried not to think about it as he began the drive to the cafe. He'd left with enough time to get there, though he knew he was likely cutting it close. He hoped that wouldn't be the case, though.
It didn't take too long to get to the cafe, thankfully, and he checked the time once more. He still had a few minutes, which meant that he wasn't late. Hopefully, he wouldn't have ended up making his date wait too long for him to arrive, if she had ended up arriving early.
Getting out of his car, he made his way inside and looked around for a moment. His curious expression must have caught one of the waitresses' attention, because she moved over.
"Hello, are you Henry Wilkins?" she asked, though her question surprised him. Regardless, he nodded and she smiled. "Thought so. A woman from Cupid's Arrow let us know you were coming. She sends people here sometimes, so." She shrugged slightly. "You can wait at a table for your date to arrive, if you want."
Henry blinked but offered a smile and nodded. "Thanks," he said, his tone genuine before he glanced around. Eventually, he settled on a table and moved to sit down, his eyes on the door while he waited for his date to show up.
Time seemed to pass exponentially slowly that day. Amelia had been allowed to leave work early so that she could get ready for her date, but it felt like forever had passed before it had been time for her to leave. And, once she got home, time seemed to move even slower - which, she supposed was best, considering how indecisive she was when it came to what she should wear.
At first, she'd thought about wearing a dress or maybe a shirt and skirt, but she usually only wore outfits like that for work. At the same time, she didn't want to seem like she was trying too hard to look nice. If she seemed overwhelming, things might be really awkward. Eventually, she settled on a
simple outfit, figuring it looked nice enough.
Satisfied with her appearance, she decided to walk to the bar. It was close enough and she had enough time; plus, if she felt the need to drink too much, she wouldn't have to worry about the possibility of having to drive home with alcohol in her system. Grabbing the keys to her home, she left and headed to the bar.
It didn't take too long to get there and she got there five minutes before it was time for the date. At least she wasn't late. She paused in her steps when a woman approached. "Hello, may I help you?" the woman asked with a smile.
For a moment, Amelia wondered how exactly she was supposed to go about this. Eventually, she settled on saying, "Oh, um, I'm supposed to meet somebody here?"
The woman seemed to understand, because she nodded. "I see. Well, since we only have one reservation for tonight, I'm assuming you're Amelia Thorne?" she mentioned, to which Amelia nodded. "Your date's already here, in that case. Follow me, then."
As the woman began to lead the way, Amelia hesitated only for a moment before she began to follow.
