Alice turned to him as he finally spoke and she frowned. "Why would they employ you if they had done that to you?" she whispered but she knew the question because he was their greatest assent and their greatest liability and they believed they could control him. Alice sighed and shook her head. "How long ago?" she asked feeling really bad. A lobotomy was barbaric and if he hadn't been like her it would have vegtablized him. Still she couldn't imagine the amount of pain and trauma he had been through. Alice looked back up at him and touched his hand. "I'm sorry Ryder." she said softly wishing there was some way she could help him.

Ryder thought for a moment, "About a month before they brought you in." He said. He looked down as her hand touched his, "It's fine. I just don't want that to happen to you. Trust me, you would want to be dead than have that happen." He said. He started the car back up and began to drive. "I'm sorry that you have to go through this." He said. "They really thought i was the only one until they found you." He said.

Alice frowned and bit her lip as he started to drive again. She shook her head. "Don't be sorry it's not your fault." she said and took her food and took a bite. She bit her lip thinking of how new that wound was. He had no idea how much he might be still healing. She wasn't about to say anything though because what if he never healed? Alice didn't like how he phrased his words though. It made it seem like he rather be dead then live with what he had to live with and she really hoped that wasn't the case. Alice quickly finished her food and then sighed. "You should let me drive a little. You need to eat too." she said also wanting to get them heading away from were they might be looking for them. They needed to beef up their security if they were going to make it away from them alive.

Ryder nodded when she suggested driving, "Yea sounds good." He said, pulling off the road. He switched with her and ate his food. The worst part of what happened to him is that he went from having all these abilities to being a normal person. It was hard to adjust. He looked over at her as she drove, "Where are we headed?" He asked her. He knew she probably had another plan already.

Alice slid over to the drivers seat and started to drive she looked over at Ryder now and then as her thought ran away with her and she smiled softly as they asked were they were going. "Arizona." she said and smiled softly. "More specifically the four corners. That way we have a rang of options from there. I want to switch out cars though in Iowa." she said and smiled softly. "I think they might be tracking the car or something like that. I think it might also be wise for use to be sure they haven't put trackers in one or both of us." she said and bit her lip knowing how personal that was going to get and how shy he seemed to be.

Ryder nodded when she talked about where they were going, "They shouldn't have put trackers in it. They are firm believers that nobody ever gets out of their facility." He said, sighing. Ryder looked out the window, "But we can check if it makes you feel better." He said, looking back at her. He knew that she wanted to get away from these people as fast as possible.

Alice nodded. "Still it would make me feel better to know for sure." Alice said and looked over at him and frowned. She wanted to comfort him but for all her knowledge she didn't know how to so she just reached out and took his hand in hers her fingers lacing with his as she looked back at the road.

Ryder watched as she took his hand, it was odd. Sure his brain had quit evolving like hers, but he was still trying to figure out the whole human emotion thing. Affection was really weird to him and it made no sense. He didn't say anything though. He looked out the window and just tried to relax. He knew she was trying to help and he appreciated it.

Alice kept driving until they were safe. She sighed and pulled over. "We should get some sleep before we ditch this car and get a new one." she said and looked at him. She wondered what was the same about Ryder and what was different. He didn't see things the way she did but he had sense as strong as hers it seemed. But what else did he not realize was the same?

Ryder nodded, "Yea sounds good to me." He said. He looked at her, "Did you want to sleep in the back?" He asked. He didn't mind sleeping with his seat reclined. He was sure that it would be easier for her. She needed her rest because she had been through a lot in the last month.

Alice smiled softly and patted his arm. "Thanks." she said and crawled into he back of the truck and curled up and was out in a minute. She slept silently her body small and inconspicuous in the back of the truck. Alice eventually relaxed and stretched out. She sighed in her sleep before stilling.

Ryder slept in the front seat then woke the next morning. He reached back, waking up Alice. "Alright lets get going." He said as he climbed into the drivers seat. Ryder began to drive down the road and relaxed a bit. "Where would you like to eat today." He asked, as he looked at the come of the restuarants. He knew it was going to be a long trip.

Alice smiled. "Mmm Ihop. But after this town we need to disappear. So we need to ditch the car pick up a new one and all the rest of the things we might need." she said and smiled softly. "Today is going to be dangerous but after today we will be in a better situation to stay gone." she said and smiled softly at him. "So after breakfast we should find a little place and umm do that search." she said remembering how he had insisted there would be no trackers.

Ryder nodded, "Alright sounds good." He said as they pulled into the Ihop parking lot. He sat down in the booth with her and looked over the menu. After they finished eating, he looked at her. "Come on." He said, leading her outside. He looked at her, "Grab your stuff." He said as he lit his cigarette. He grabbed his things then walked with her a bit til he found a car. He smashed the window out then hot wired it. "Let's go." He said. He watched as she got in then drove off. Ryder was sure to pick a car that was older and was lacking an alarm. He pulled into an alley after a bit and got out, pulling the plates off and pulling the set he had in his bag out. He put them on then got back in and started driving.

Alice walked with him and smiled as they walked. Once they found a car she frowned as he broke the window. He didn't need to do that but she didn't say anything and just put her stuff in and going with him. She smiled as they were out on the highways again and everything was nearly done just one more thing to do tonight before they were for real gone and safe. They drove through most of the day and when they stopped outside of a small town she smiled and put her hand on his. "I'll get the room this time." she said and then slipped out of the car and went inside getting their room. Cash only and a fake name. Once they got settled into their room it was late. Alice sat on the one bed and she smiled at him. "So before we go to bed I want to make sure about the tracking." she said and stood walking over to him. "Don't be shy. It's just me." she said and smiled gently. "Would you like to check or be checked first?" she asked and turned away pulling out a knife just in case they needed to get device out of one of them.

Ryder looked at her, "You can check me first." He said as he pulled his shirt off. "Check the neck and spine first. That's where they usually put them." He said. He relaxed as he felt her fingers moving over his skin. He was really hoping that neither of them had a chip inside of them. Ryder bit his bottom lip lightly as he let his eyes moved around the room.

Alice smiled softly. "Okay." she said and turned around him and she bit her lip not going to mention the more sensitive areas they could place them as well. She would check them non the less. Alice started at the top of his head her fingers running through his hair as her fingers methodically ran over his skin. She ran her hands slowly down his neck her fingers checking for strange little bumps. She ran her hands over his shoulders then down one arm then the next before returning to his back her fingers running down his perfect skin slowly then around one side checking his chest and then his other side. She looked up at him. "The good news is nothing yet the bad news is that I need to see more." she said and moved around behind him again and waited until he stepped out of his pants before her fingers started to move over his skin again down his legs looking at his feet and then she moved to the side that made even her blush a little. She smiled and looked up at him a moment. He was built so well. She grinned and started from the bottom of the legs and worked up then around until she saved closest to his genitalia for last. Once she moved her hands over him she could feel her bodies reaction. It was primal to say the least and she bit her lip trying to concentrate through the haze of desire. Once he was cleared she stood and smiled. "You're clear." she said and then took a water and drank deeply while he dressed. Once he was done she turned to him. "Ready?" she asked and stripped off her cloths her eyes not leaving his as she did so.
