Hello, everyone! I'm Maddi. If you didn't already know, I'm a writing tutor at my university's Writing Center, which consists of reading through pieces with students, editing for spelling, grammar, awkwardness, clarity, organization, etc. In the past, I've done full-on blog reviews and critiques of stories. I'm really excited to get to help out and read through some great stories, poems, etc.
EXAMPLESRULES
- I will work on two stories at a time (due to the fact that I have a pretty busy semester coming up).
- If I'm not currently working on your story, it will go into the queue;
- the queue will include all submitted stories that I'm not currently working on.
- You must include some kind of credit to me, either in the summary of the story/poem/article or the author's note of the chapter I helped with. Must include a link to my profile or this editing shop.
- One request per person.
- Once your request has been fulfilled, please [s ]strikeout[ /s] your post.
- I will be very straightforward with my critique, so if you're unsure about (nice, I promise) constructive criticism, please consider it.
- I will close the shop if I'm too busy. Please do not submit requests if this happens.
SUBMISSIONS
- I will accept almost anything, including;
➣ Originals and fanfiction
➣ One-shots or chaptered stories
➣ Articles
➣ Poems (Proofread Only)
➣ Essays (Proofread Only) - Chaptered stories should be submitted one chapter at a time or up to ~3,000 words (if you're submitting more than one chapter).
- Any rating and genre is acceptable. However, if there is something that makes me uncomfortable, I'll let you know and try to work around it.
- Spelling and grammar only
- Brainstorm | Includes:

➣ Q&A about the piece - Full critique | Includes:
➣ suggestions on what could work better
➣ what I think is great / clever
➣ spelling / grammar issues
➣ flow / word choice issues - Beta | Includes:
➣ everything above
➣ me making direct changes to the piece
➣ (I'll tell you what I change and why;
➣ changes will be in parenthesis)
➣ requires beta credit when posted online
➣ I will not make direct changes to unpublished pieces - Small edits such as periods (.), commas(,), etc, will be in parenthesis.
- Major changes will be highlighted in red.
- My commentary will be in italics

PROCESS
- Once you've submitted the form, I'll PM you to let you know that I've begun working on it. Or request that you send me your unpublished piece.
- If I give you a time frame in my original message for when I'll have the edits back to you, but you don't send me the piece right away, the time frame will change depending on my schedule.
- Depending on the type of editing, I'll PM you my response/critique after my initial read-through.
- Feel free to ask questions about what I've said. I'm more than happy to answer them.
- Once I've sent you my edits, your request will be marked as complete. You can now submit another request if you'd like (after you've [s ] struck out [/ s] your original post).
