Caroline didn't know exactly what she was thinking about this whole matchmaking thing. She did it on a dare... Her younger sister, joking that she was forever alone, had bet that even a matchmaker couldn't find a good match for Caroline and so she had taken that as a challenge. She didn't particularly believe in love... She had watched her parents' relationship crash and burn and so her opinion on love was very simple - it couldn't exist... She had been through quite a few terrible relationships that only enhanced this opinion. But as she sat there waiting to meet her supposed "match" in the place she was told to wait she couldn't help but feel nervous... What if he hated her just like everyone else did? She knew this was going to just go poorly, but she might as well try to be optimistic...

Zed's mouth was dry as he sat there, waiting to meet the person that the matchmaker had termed as his "perfect match". So many interviews with the matchmaker and lots of paperwork and finally this girl was finally being revealed to him... He was slightly skeptical but hopeful. He was a hopeless romantic and if the matchmaker did really succeed in finding someone that he thought was perfect, he was more than ready to meet her. He smiled as he saw a girl slowly approaching and he stood up, ready to introduce himself.

Jackson was honestly tired of crappy relationships. His last girlfriend had cheated on him. The one before that had actually been emotionally and physically abusive, but he refused to retaliate and instead ended the relationship. All of his relationships up to this point had completely sucked but he didn't want to give up on the idea that he may be able to find somebody that he could truly, completely love. It was why he'd given the matchmaking service a chance and he hoped the service would manage to pair him with somebody that would actually mean the world to him. When it came time to meet who the service had declared as his perfect match, he hadn't wasted time in getting ready when it was time to meet her and he was more than eager to meet her when he arrived.

Faye wasn't really sure what she'd expected when it came to the matchmaking service. The only reason she'd even gone through it was because her grandparents worried that she'd be completely alone when it came time for them to die. Since her parents had died when she was younger, her grandparents were all she really had and she wanted to ease their worries. Sure, she knew a perfect match was probably a farfetched idea but if she could just get through it, maybe her grandparents would worry less. Still, as she approached where she was meant to meet the guy, she could feel her nervousness beginning to form. Ignoring it, she smiled when somebody stood up and offered a small nod as she approached him. "Hi, I'm Faye," she introduced.

Caroline saw a guy coming towards her and her mouth went dry. She didn't know why she should be nervous... It shouldn't be that big of a deal. Yet, maybe she wanted someone to prove her wrong - but she wasn't going to fall prey easily. It wasn't like answering a whole bunch of questions was accurately going to describe who she was enough to give her a perfect match. She was highly skeptical but she couldn't help but be a little bit nervous regarding this whole thing... "Hi, I'm Caroline..." She said, blushing slightly when her "perfect" match got close enough to her. She didn't know what to think right now. He was good looking, but she remained skeptical.

Zed smiled when a beautiful girl approached him and all of the fears inside of him went away for a moment. She was certainly beautiful and he could see himself loving her... if given the chance. Of course, this was certainly farfetched because he hadn't even gotten to talk to her yet but he had faith in the system.. He was sure that this could happen... "I'm Zed." He said, taking her hand that she reached out to shake his he held it tightly, bringing it up to his lips for a stolen kiss on her hand. He was going to be chivalrous, and at least try to make this work. "It's very nice to meet you."

Jackson hadn't been expecting much. He certainly hadn't expected to be matched with a beauty; at most, he expected his match to be homely, to be attractive enough to maintain his attention just enough, but this girl had his attention completely. He smiled when she introduced herself and he offered a small nod. "I'm Jackson," he told her, "It's a pleasure to meet you. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting the matchmaking service to pair me with somebody as beautiful as you are."

Faye blinked with surprise, her eyes widening and her cheeks darkening to his actions. She ducked her head, hoping to force the warmth in her cheeks to go away, but she nodded slightly to his words. "It's very nice to meet you, too," she told him before she turned her attention back to him and offered a small grin. "Zed's a very unique name. I don't think I've ever heard it before."

Caroline smiled a little when he introduced himself and then was caught completely off guard by his compliment. She wasn't particularly used to those all that much and it did indeed make her smile. Didn't convince her that she could actually fall in love with him, but it did make her smile. "What - were you expecting me to be ugly?!" She asked in surprise, half flirting yet half actually serious about this question.

Zed smiled a little as he saw her blush the way she did at his action. "You're pretty cute when you blush like that." He said with a smile. He was drinking in her image and really satisfied. She was really beautiful and he couldn't believe that he was so lucky to be matched with someone like her. He was hardly worthy. "Yeah, my parents were kinda crazy when they named me." He joked. "Maybe we could grab some lunch or something... get to know each other? If you have time, of course."

"No, it's not that," Jackson said with a quiet laugh, "I just wasn't expecting for the service to pair me up with somebody who could so easily take my breath away and even decide that such a person would be my perfect match." He offered a small grin, then, hoping that he had explained himself well enough that she wouldn't be offended. It was true, though; he hadn't expected for the service to find somebody that was this gorgeous. Hell, he didn't even understand why somebody this gorgeous felt the need to go through the service.

Faye's cheeks only darkened all the more to his words and she quickly lifted her hands to cover them with a huff. "I don't know what you're talking about, I'm not blushing," she told him with embarrassment, though she smiled to his words and nodded slightly. "Lunch sounds good. I'm sure we each have plenty of questions for each other, anyways." She figured that they could at least try to figure out why the service had decided that they were perfectly suited for each other.

Caroline fought the urge to shake her head and roll her eyes. He already seemed so smitten with her and she had to admit that she just wasn't into it. Sure, she was giving him a chance, but she was also surprised that he actually believed in this whole "perfect match" thing. "Yeah, 'perfect match'." She answered him and then sighed. "I have to admit that I'm more than a little bit skeptical of that..."

Zed smirked, enjoying the way that she blushed that way. It was awfully adorable. He smiled and nodded his head when she accepted his invitation for lunch. "Do we really have that many questions - according to the matchmaker, we're quite perfect for each other." He laughed. "Where would you like to go to lunch, Faye?" He asked her with a smile.

Jackson was mildly surprised by her words and he stared at her for a moment. "If you're skeptical of the idea of a perfect match, why did you go through with the service?" he asked. After all, it costed money, so why would somebody waste money on something they didn't believe in?

"Well... I mean, we don't really know how they matched us, so I was mostly curious about their tactics and what about the two of us made us seem like a perfect match," Faye explained, though she felt a little embarrassed with her own words. "Oh, um, there's a cafe nearby that we can go to?"

Caroline blushed a little and crossed her arms. "I mean, I don't know... To see?" She asked with a blush.. The more she said it out loud, she knew it sounded crazy. It was crazy that she had gone through all of this trouble just to be skeptical but that was the truth. "I mean, technically I did it on a dare. And I don't know...I don't know if I even believe in love."

Zed smiled and nodded his head. "I know - I was just teasing you. I know after all of that I know everything about myself and that you are my match but that doesn't mean I know anything about you." He said and then reached out his hand to her. "Well, then shall we go to this cafe and talk?"

"There are plenty of examples of love in every day life, though," Jackson pointed out. "I mean, you have grandparents, right? Just look at how long they've been together. Mine have been together for over 60 years. If that's not love, then I don't know what is."

Faye was a little relieved to hear his words and she nodded slightly in understanding. "I'm sorry for misunderstanding, in that case," she told him quietly, though she offered a smile and nodded. Placing her hand in his, she began leading the way to the cafe.

Caroline shook her head at the way he seemed to want to convince her. She should've suspected since he was her "match" but she didn't want a lecture right now. "Yeah, well my parents went through a terrible divorce that just got ugly on both sides and there's not much else to it. And I've been in relationships... maybe it was just the time period that grandparents grew up in, but for the most part I think love is dead."

Zed was happy when she actually gave him her hand and the touch was nice. Her hand felt small and warm in his and he squeezed it gently, before he guided it so that she was holding his arm in that romantic way that couples do. It wasn't that he didn't want to hold hands, just that he didn't want to rush anything with her. He wanted it to be perfect. "So tell me about yourself, Miss Faye." He said with a smile.

"Just because your parents went through a terrible divorce doesn't mean love doesn't exist," Jackson told her with surprise. "I mean, are they with other people now? Are they happy? Sure, they may not have fully loved each other, but that doesn't mean that you should just live life thinking that love doesn't exist. I'm sure they'd tell you the same thing." Maybe that was just his opinion, but he knew plenty of people who were happily in love and had been for years.

Faye smiled slightly and shrugged upon hearing his words. "Well... I'm currently attending part-time at the local university, majoring in graphic arts," she told him, "But, aside from that, I also work part-time at a florist shop." She thought about what else to tell him and chewed on her lip. "Um... My parents died when I was younger and my grandparents took care of me. The reason I went through the service was because my grandpa worried I'd be alone when they die."

Caroline shook her head. Yeah, this was a stupid time to bring it up. Of course he was going to try and convince her differently - and she had no problems with that, as long as he didn't try to force it upon her. "Then prove me different." She said sticking her arms out and shaking her head. "I've seen the terrible sides of relationships and I don't believe that love can exist - especially not by some survey... If you can convince me differently, good luck." She challenged.

Zed smiled a little as he heard her talking and he surveyed her face, enjoying her beauty. His heart was already fluttering and he tried to stop it. He often fell too fast and he knew that was a bad idea. "I'm sorry about your parents.." He said softly and placed his hand on top of hers for comfort. "So - do you believe that you could find someone through this service that would keep you company when your grandparents are gone?" He asked.

"Then I will prove it," Jackson said firmly as he stared at her. He was never one to back down from a challenge, especially when the challenge centered around something important like love. "But you have to give me a chance for me to be able to prove it."

"It's fine, it was a long time ago. I barely even remember them," Faye assured him with a small shrug. It wasn't entirely the truth, but she didn't want to worry him or anything. "Honestly? I don't know. I mostly just hoped to find somebody who could convince my grandparents that they don't have to worry about me.*

Caroline sighed and nodded her head. "Yes, I know... I will give you a chance - but I also make no promises." She said with a blush. "And I also apologize for putting this burden onto you - I know you're probably regretting getting matched with someone like me, but I can't help it."

Zed smiled at her and patted her hand softly, nodding his head. He was rather enjoying her company already and they had barely started to get to know each other. He couldn't get his hopes up but he already had. He was upset by her wording. "So... you don't really expect to find someone good?" He asked.

"If we got matched together, there's a reason for it. I don't see how that's a burden," Jackson told her as he watched her. Eventually, he offered a small shrug. "Let's start with doing something you'd like to do," he said before he watched her for a moment. "Anything goes."
"It's not that," Faye told him before she looked over at him. "I mean, if the guy eases my grandparents' concern, then obviously, he's good for me, right?" She offered a smile and shrugged before she looked ahead. "If my grandparents like him, then that means he makes me happy."
