You've got no place to hide.
And I'm feeling like a villain, got a hunger inside.
    One look in my eyes,
And you're running cause I'm coming going to eat you alive.
Your heart hits like a drum,
    The chase has just begun,
    Monsters stuck in your head
We are, we are, we are
    Monsters under your bed
    We are, we are

Elodie Pearson | Witch. Supreme. Twenty-One.
    Image

Life wasn't easy when you're whole world was falling down around your head. It started four years ago when the hunters blew into the small Colorado town, where Elodie Pearson's coven called home, like a hurricane on a sunny day. And to be perfectly frank, Elodie's coven didn't exactly think they had anything to worry about. That those hunters where there for the mutts in town, the wolves. See the coven and the pack had a long, and mostly bloodied history. Generations between these two supernatural communities were fought, for more control and power over the town. The bloodshed had officially ended back in the 70's when Elodie's grandmother, Edith, and the ruling alpha at the time called for a truce. A ceasefire, an end to bloodshed. And thus a shaky peace of sorts was born. There were still the occasional altercations, but the worst of it had been ended. As long as the wolves didn't hurt the townfolk, or garner the attention of hunters, the witches would mind their own business. Stay on ''their'' side of town.

And the wolves would do the same. So four years ago when those hunters first came, Elodie's coven thought they had nothing to fear. Sure there were still witch-hunters out there, but they mostly hunted those who dabbled in dark magic. And Elodie's coven, which specialized in healing and ancestral magic- wouldn't dream of practicing such dark things. But they were wrong. The hunters weren't just there for the wolves, they were there to cleanse Ashbury of all supernatural creatures. In the end it had been the coven's own hubris that had lead them to downfall. They thought they'd be able to take care of their own. But over the years, it became apparent that they were wrong. The hunters weren't stupid. They brought weapons and patience, picking off members one by one as they could- pack or coven it didn't matter. But things had come to a head six months ago. Elodie had just come home from her mother's greenhouse to find her father waiting to deliver the news, the hunters had slaughtered her mother. Elodie hadn't just lost a mother that day, the entire coven had lost their Supreme.

And the coven was thrown into chaos. Five months ago three members departed- deciding if their Supreme couldn't fend off hunters- it was best to get the hell out of dodge. And those that remained? Each tried to claim the Supremacy that Eliza Pearson had left behind. Three months ago, it had been Elodie that completed all the trials administered, proving her abilities were beyond the other members in the coven. She knew there were some who didn't believe Elodie worthy of Supremacy. They doubted her. Cited her lack of experience as a reason not to follow. And Elodie knew she was losing them; so she turned to something drastic. She'd gone to her mother's safe, broke the wards and took the spells her mother had locked away, only to be used in the most dire of circumstances. It had taken a week of research before Elodie settled on summoning herself a familiar. It wasn't an easy ritual. And it was dangerous. She was to infuse her magic and essence into a human heart, which was an ordeal of it's own getting, and giving her magic a shape, a life.

Her life would be tied to the one her magic and essence created, but in return her powers would be considerably boosted. It was a risk she was willing to take. And it had paid off when she'd summoned her own familiar, Sebastian. All her research couldn't prepare her for him. The moment her magic had settled, and he was standing in her bedroom Elodie could feel her magic, her life-force in him. But that wasn't it. She could feel his emotions, and she knew he could sense her's as well. There was a sort of... instantaneous connection between them; a trust that she couldn't quite explain. That had been a month ago. Since then, Sebastian had given her the edge she needed to call a meeting with the wolves. Her grandmother had done it before, and Elodie was confident that she could reach a sturdier peace. It was clear to the young woman that the only way to survive the hunters, push them back and drive them out- was to join forces.

But that didn't mean really... anyone liked it. Sebastian, who had taken his role as protector to his witch rather seriously thought it was dangerous as did Elodie's father. The rest of the coven thought it was foolish. Maybe it was, but at least Ellie was trying to save her people. And she was stronger now since summoning Sebastian. The penny-haired witch would be fine. She had to be. And that's where she was today, nervously waiting in one of the abandoned warehouses on the wolves side of town, 'Bash standing quietly behind her. He didn't have to talk for Elodie to notice his unease. His dark gaze flickered back and forth between the door, and Elodie while his body was held rigid with tension. ''I heard their alpha was killed recently, I'm hoping his son is a little more... open to reason than his father.'' It was only the petite witch and her familiar, since she didn't particularly trust the other members to be around wolves without making the situation worse. Tensions were too high. ''They're late... Do you think they bailed?'' She turns, her amalgamated gaze of moss and gold flickering to her familiar, a sense of concern whelming her veins. Was this a trap? Surely the wolves weren't that impulsive?

Luca Essex | Werewolf. Alpha. Twenty-Four.

    Image

The pack knew they were in trouble. They knew it the moment those damned hunters had blown into town; making everyone's lives a living hell. At first the coven had sneered down their noses at the pack thinking those hunters were only there for the wolves. Boy were they were wrong. The hunters had come to clean house so to speak and both communities were under fire. It was war in Lucas Essex's book. Both sides had lost people, both sides were hurting. Hell, they'd lost their alpha, Luca's father, only a couple months back. A silver bullet to the brain on the pack's monthly hunts in the wood. Four more were hurt. And Luca found himself the new alpha of the Essex pack. He was in charge of keeping everyone alive. And the best way he figured was merging his pack with the Jackson's pack. Historically the Essex's and the Jackson's were enemies. Back when Ashbury was still being settled, Luca's pack drove the other out claiming the town for themselves. But with the hunters picking off more and more of his packmates each week; Luca knew that the two packs had to meld into one to have a fighting chance. Strength in numbers and all. At first the alpha of the pack had been weary at first; though they managed to come to an agreement.

Luca would take his daughter as his mate and they would unite the two packs. He saw little choice, so he agreed. That's where Nina came in. Luca wasn't quite sure what to feel about her. She was a Jackson, but she was wild and free as her animal counterpart. He admired that about her. She was confident, assured- everything an alpha female should be. But this merger hadn't come without it's dissonance from both sides. His pack moaned and groaned about how the Jackson's couldn't be trusted. They'd stab the Essex's pack in the back soon as they got the chance. Or simply the Essex's didn't need to rely on anything or anyone for help; they could take care of themselves. But it hadn't mattered in the end. Nina had moved into the pack-home about a month ago; and Luca was trying to help her adjust. He wasn't really sure what she thought of their union, he hadn't asked, but he did try to be civil with her. It was difficult to focus on a new relationship, or getting to know his mate, when there was a war raging on around them.

Today was another day that his energy was poured into keeping himself and his pack alive to see another day. Last week a witch, the new Supreme of the coven in town had reached out to Luca. Wanted to talk in private. Something about the peace treaties made back in the 70's. And since he couldn't fight witches and hunters at the same time, he figured he'd go and talk with them. See what she wanted. He had waited until it was about sun-down, and a chilly, blustery wind was tearing through the town before leaving. It had been a last minute thing, to invite Nina along. No sense of going alone and if they wanted to talk peace treaties that was a job for an alpha- both of them. The car ride had been quiet, honestly Luca had been too far in his own head to strike up conversation; though when they approached the parking lot of the warehouse that Elodie Pearson had specified, Luca turned his gaze to his mate carefully; his dark eyes roiling with an unreadable expression. ''If things go bad in there, just go okay? Get the pack. I'm not expecting it go south, but just in case.''

The directions were spoken in a surprisingly gentle, albeit gravely, tone. ''And stay close to me.'' There was little room in his voice for argument. The last thing he needed was for his mate to be injured at a secret meeting he'd agreed to with the witches. Getting out of the car, his feet scuffled against the pavement as Luca made his way towards the door, and pausing bit back a sigh before opening the creaking door. At once the stench of magic, something entirely too sweet and sharp for his nose wafted towards him, the witch was already there. She stood towards the center, a figure with colorful hair and dark eyes standing close by. Interestingly enough he had a subtle scent of his own, but mostly only smelled of Elodie's magic. ''Ah, you finally made it.'' The redhead mumbled, loud enough for the pair of wolves to hear. ''What do you want Elodie? Meeting wolves in warehouses in secret? Not very supreme-like of you.'' Luca snaps back, a twinge of annoyance in his voice. She doesn't reply to that, though he notes the way her jaw clenches. ''I won't keep you. I'm offering you a new truce. Rather than fighting our enemies separately and wasting our energy and resources, I suggest we put aside our... many differences and join forces. At least until the hunters are driven back.''

Luca's gaze narrows as he remains quiet for a minute thinking it through. Joining forces? It wasn't a bad idea... If she was being honest. And Luca wouldn't trust a witch as far as he could throw her. Not to mention how young she was. He vaguely remembered Elodie from schoool, she was about three years younger than him. How did she have the experience to lead a coven through a new agreement with the packs when she was still wet behind the ears so to speak? Curiously he glances towards Nina who's standing close enough that he can feel her warmth. This wasn't much notice, though he supposes that's exactly how Elodie wanted it. ''Well?" She prompts, and Luca looks towards Nina. ''What do you think? It's your pack too.'' This isn't just his decision, it's Nina's as well. It's not just his wolves back at the pack-house, it's her's as well. This could be a turning point for the supernatural communities in Ashbury, if the witches remained allies. If they turned on the wolves, it could be a blood bath. But it was a shot at peace, and that was something both coven and pack sorely needed about now.

    Sebastian | Familiar
    Image

Sebastian looked at Elodie when she asked if he thought the wolves had bailed, “No I don’t think so.” He said, shaking his head. He had been loyal to Elodie since the day she had brought him to this earth. Things were apparently pure hell now and he wasn’t sure how much he could help her. He was going to put all his strength into helping her though. “Maybe they are just afraid.” He said, walking around the empty warehouse. He stopped walking when he heard a noise outside, “They are here. Your alpha brought a friend.” He said. He moved over to Elodie, standing next to her as the wolves walked towards them. He shook his head at Luca’s smart remark. A cocky wolf, of course he acted like he was above them. Sebastian could tell by the way his mate carried herself that she had the same attitude. Sebastian could sense how strong both of them were. He had heard about the girl’s pack as well. They were one of the stronger pack in town. The alpha was smart to merge his pack with hers. Sebastian watched as the two talked about what to do. He knew if they disagreed that it wouldn’t end well.

Sebastian heard the alpha mate speak up, “It sounds like something we can’t pass up.” Nina said. A smile came to Sebastian’s face when he felt how happen Elodie came. He looked over at her, hoping that this meant everyone was going to get along. They had a long way to go if they were going to take out the hunters. “Nina your pack knows a lot about these hunters, correct?” He asked. He watched as the girl nodded. He turned to Elodie,“Get the information from her so we can obtain as much information about them as we can.” He told her.

Nina relaxed as she sat in the passenger seat of Luca’s car. It had been about a month since she had left her pack to live with him. While the two of them fought on occasion it seemed that they were getting along better now. Nina looked over at him when he said about leaving if things got bad. “Not gonna happen.” She said. She wouldn’t leave him, it wasn’t in her nature to run. “I will stay with you. Don’t worry about me.” She told him. When they pulled up to the warehouse she got out and walked inside with Luca. She stood close to him, watching the witch very carefully. She could feel how tense Luca was in that moment. When he asked if she was okay with it she thought for a moment. ”I don’t think we have a choice Luca. If we don’t get there help, then our packs won’t last much longer.” She explained to him.

Nina looked at the guy with the witch, hearing around town that she had conjured him. She nodded when he asked about the hunters. Nina heard Luca agree to helping them and she suddenly had a feeling of relief. If they could get the witches on their side then they had a chance. ”I will send someone from my pack over to give you the information on the hunters.” She explained to the witch. Nina was glad when they were done with the meeting. She looked at Luca as they walked out of the warehouse. She got in the car, turning to him, “Are you sure this is going to go well?” She asked him, “ I know we don’t really have a choice, but those witches can’t be trusted and you know it Luca.” She explained. She rested her hand on his arm, ”Let’s just not let out guard down completely.” She told him before she got comfortable again as he started the car. Tomorrow was the ceremony for them becoming mates so she was worried about that more than anything. She had to admit that Luca was good to her though. He always made sure she was safe and taken care of. Even though she had heard he was kind of a jerk before they met. Then again what wolf didn’t act like an ass sometimes.

Elodie Pearson | Witch. Supreme. Twenty-One.
    Image

Sebastian hadn't been on this plane very long, but Elodie alread relied on him more than anyone else in her coven. “No I don’t think so.” His reply was soft, a bit wistful. He had begun to walk around the warehouse, pacing probably. The flourescent lighting of the warehouse shone down on Sebastian harshly, illuminating his colorful, cotton candy colored hair. Her coven thought of him only as a tool. Like a wrench or a hammer. Elodie couldn't bring herself to think of him like that. He was flesh and bone. He had emotions and his own thoughts. How could he only be a tool. “Maybe they are just afraid.” His remark was almost missed by Elodie and she smiled ruefully. ''I don't think the wolves are that clever. They've always thought themselves above the coven.'' It was always how it had been. Though she supposed the wolves would think the same of witches. She knew this alliance wasn't going to be easy- it was going to be even harder making sure her witches stayed in line. Some of them were old enough to remember a time without the peace treaty and convincing this alliance could be their only hope wouldn't be easy. She's not aware when Seb stops pacing, his gaze flickering towards the door.

She does catch his soft warning of, ''They are here. Your alpha brought a friend.'' Brows furrowing she feels her pace quicken with anxiety. All her life Elodie never had a need to talk to the wolves; and now she'd be talking to the alpha and his friend, trying to secure an alliance that could save them all- or damn them if the wolves weren't interested. Too soon the heavy door of the warehouse is creaking open, and sure enough two figures make their way towards the witch and her familiar. It's instinctual when she takes a step back towards Sebastian, finding a reassurance of sorts being near him. She knows their alpha, they'd gone through the same school systems; though she'd never dreamed of talking with him before now. She didn't know him too well, and Elodie knows that Luca doesn't know her very well either. And she can tell by the dubious looks she receives after proposing her idea that he doesn't know what to make of her either.

But to her surprise he doesn't immediately disagree, or single-handedly make the decision on his own. Rather he turns to the female companion by his side, quietly asking what she would do. It takes a moment for Elodie to put two and two together- this was likely Luca's mate. She doesn't look any older than Elodie, though her looks are darker. ”I don’t think we have a choice Luca. If we don’t get there help, then our packs won’t last much longer.” For a moment her jaw slackens with shock. This wasn't what she was expecting. And for the first time since walking into this warehouse, Elodie feels a cautious sort of hope. “Nina your pack knows a lot about these hunters, correct?” Elodie glanced to her right where Sebastian was standing and she had to admit there was a sense of solace in having him here. In the time they'd bonded her pink-haired familiar had proven himself to be something of a diplomat. Nina simply nods at his question before promising to send someone from the packs over. If Elodie could figure out where the hunters were hiding, if they had any witches working to shield them, or had any devices to shield themselves against Ellie's magic- she could begin to formulate plans to fight back.

''That would be appreciated. You know where to find the coven.'' And like that the meeting was drawing to a close. The two wolves were on their way out, Luca pausing only to call over his shoulder, ''We'll have a meeting in three day's time to come up with some preliminary plans.'' And then they were gone, leaving only Ellie and Seb. Once the door was shut the witch exhaled a large sigh of relief. The first meeting was... a success. There had been no violence and a promise to work together. ''Well, that was the easy part. We still need to make sure the others don't... Do anything rash that would offend the wolves.'' Her voice is soft, filled with uncertainty. She knew the other's didn't really accept her as supreme, but no one had challenged her yet- so that was a problem for another day. For now, Ellie would take this small victory. ''Thanks for being here 'Bash. Let's go home, yeah? If we're going to war, I need to study more of my mother's battle magic. And dad's probably making dinner for us.'' There was an entire list of things that Ellie needed to get through before the next meeting with the wolves and the sooner she got a move on these things, the sooner they would be done.

Luca Essex | Werewolf. Alpha. Twenty-Four.

    Image

He had been pensive about this meeting; but his worries weren't entirely warranted Luca realized. Elodie didn't seem to have any alternative schemes in mind; and he was actually rather impressed with how Nina approached the entire proposition of a treaty. ”I don’t think we have a choice Luca. If we don’t get there help, then our packs won’t last much longer.” And Luca agreed. He knew this was a necessity but he wasn't thrilled about it. ''I know. We need to do this for the future of the pack- if we're going to have one.'' Hopefully the rest of the pack would see it that way. There had been plenty of bloodshed between these two communities in the past. Some wounds ran deep, and he knew that most of his pack was already distressed that their alpha had merged his pack with the Jackson's. And while he did believe Nina was right- this was their only shot at salvation, it was going to be an uphill battle.

With Nina on board, Luca knew the right thing to do was agree. So, he turned his dark gaze back to Elodie. She appeared calm, collected- but he could smell the acidicness of anxiety subtly on her. He would guess the covens were in as much disarray as the pack. Luca wasn't an idiot, she wasn't offering this alliance out of the goodness of her heart. The witches needed the wolves as much as the wolves needed the witch's aid. ''Then it's settled. We'll meet formally to discuss further what the alliance will be, exactly.'' This was for the best; he just hoped that forming something like this so late would be enough to save them all. The rest was a blur. Nina promised to send over the information that they already had on the hunters to catch the witches up to speed. And with that the meeting was over. It wasn't until he and Nina were heading to the door that Luca paused, glancing over his shoulder. ''We'll have a meeting in three day's time to come up with some preliminary plans.'' He warned before following Nina out of the door.

The cold night air whipped against his face, turning his cheeks red as Luca hurried to the car. He still wasn't over fond on the idea of working with the coven. Sliding into the drivers seat and starting the car he glanced over as Nina spoke up, “Are you sure this is going to go well?” At this Luca chuckles, though there's no malice behind it. ''I'm almost positive that Elodie means well. But she's young, wet behind the ears. I've heard from some of my scouts that the coven isn't... taking to her leadership too well. But I also know their coven is falling apart. They need this alliance as much as we do. I'm almost sure it'll go shakily, but I think it'll work out.'' He saw no reason being dishonest in his thoughts on the subject. Nina was going to be his mate, this was the woman who was going to help him run things, and as far as he was concerned- back there she had more than proved herself an equal. '' I know we don’t really have a choice, but those witches can’t be trusted and you know it Luca.”

He grins, a feral thing. ''I trust the witches about as much as the hunters to just leave town.'' Its then he feels Nina's hand on his arm. It's soothing, and it eases some of his nerves. Luca knew they were still adjusting to each other- but he did feel there was a real connection between them; and he hoped he would be a worthy mate for her. ”Let’s just not let out guard down completely.” Luca couldn't agree more. ''I think we're on the same page. Now the tough part is going to be convicing the rest of the packs. I know they're already... resilient to the idea of the merger. I don't think they're going to react well to this news. I don't think we should tell them right away. I think we should wait until after our ceremony tomorrow night, when the packs are officially one.'' Luca suggested as he started up the car, ready to head back to the pack house, worry churning through his veins causing his grip on the steering wheel to tighten.

Sebastian looked at her, “Anything for you.” He told her before he walked out of the warehouse with her. When they arrived at the coven’s home he walked in and sighed as some of the people stared at them. “They really aren’t adjusting well.” He said to her as they walked to where she could practice. He looked around the room, “Why did the witches not train you in battle magic before?” He asked as he sat down in the chair. He knew that the coven thought highly of themselves, but where they so confident that they wouldn’t be attacked.

He watched her carefully and relaxed back in his chair. He was glad she had summoned him. Elodie was so great to him and treated him like a person. To everyone else he was just a tool to help the coven. He knew that he was more than that though. Nothing was going to make him give up. He was here to keep Elodie safe and that was exactly what he was going to to do. “So that girl with the alpha is that his mate?” He asked her. He got the vibe, but then again not all wolves stuck to tradition anymore. “I thought their packs were enemies.” He said. He sighed as he thought about how they were probably merging because of how bad it was getting.

He stood up, “You know what it is!? They are scared. They merged packs because they are actually afraid.” He said, walking over to her. “That’s why instead of being a cocky asshat he agreed to working with you.” He explained. “Oh this is wonderful. We will have two packs of wolves to help the coven.” He said, looking around the room. He looked back at her and smiled, “what is wrong?” He asked, feeling her insecurity.

As they drove back home, Nina could feel how nervous Luca really was. She got out of the car, sighing as she looked at the house. His pack were still being mean to her and she really was hating being in that house. Nina walked in behind Luca, frowning as one of his friends glared at her. “You aren’t even suppose to be his mate.” He said after Luca walked off. Nina narrowed her eyes at him, her wolf getting angry at his assumption. ”I suggest you shut the hell up before we have a problem.” She snapped at him. She looked over seeing Luca come to the doorway. ”I don’t have time for you and your crap Marcus.” She added before she walked off and went upstairs to the room she shared with Luca.

Nina got dressed for bed then sat on the end of Luca’s bed. His room was nicer than she thought it would be. Most wolves didn’t take care of there stuff because they spent most of their time running anyway. “They hate me.” She said as he walked in. Nina laid back on the bed, watching him, “They are never going to like me.” She said as she looked up at the ceiling. She looked over as Luca began to pull his shirt off. She had to admit that he was very attractive so she got lucky with that. Nina could feel her wolf freaking at the sight of him. She looked away and sighed. Nina wondered if they would get a good night’s rest that night. For the past month she had been there she had been helping Luca with some nightmares he had about his dad. It wasn’t all the time, but it was enough for her to worry about him. She looked back at him, grabbing a pillow and hugging it to her body, her chin resting on it. “How well do you know Elodie?” She asked him softly. Nina had talked to the supreme a few times in school, but nothing serious. Mostly wolves were told to avoid the witches. Nina had asked for her help in the past for some stones for healing and what not. She wasn’t going to tell Luca about that though. She watched Luca, her eyes tracing over his body. Every girl in her pack had said she was so lucky that she was going to be his mate because he was so hot. Nina didn’t care too much about that. She cared more about him taking care of her. Which he was doing lately and her dad had taken a liking to her. Her mother of course was just happy that she was getting married. If it was Nina’s choice she would have taken over her own pack, but that wasn’t possible now. She had worried when they first met that they would never get along. They both were stubborn, but Nina quickly learned that with the right amount of pouting and anger that Luca would give her what she wanted. She smiled at the thought of it as she watched him.

Elodie Pearson | Witch. Supreme. Twenty-One.
    Image

Back home, Elodie was sprawled on her bed; resting on her stomach as she tried to sort through the thick book of spells and invocations. The only thing to be heard for awhile was the soft rustling of pages as she'd slowly turn through, and music playing softly from her bluetooth speakers. Here it was relaxing, and Elodie even felt safe as Seb sat across the room at her desk chair. Her eyelids felt heavy as she tried to continue on with studying when her familiar spoke up, “They really aren’t adjusting well.” She didn't have to ask what he meant. The other witches, as Elodie had predicted were not happy when she'd left for the meeting. They would rather continue with fighting back against the hunters on their own. Mauve, an older witch and a coven-favorite to be supreme had made it no secret she thought what Elodie was doing was weak. Sighing, pushing herself into a sitting position the copper haired witch shrugs. "They don't really trust I have the experience or will to lead the coven. And Mauve isn't really helping. It is what it is. Hopefully this alliance works out and it puts some of their doubts to rest."

And if that didn't convince them- they could leave for all Elodie cared. She was doing her best. “Why did the witches not train you in battle magic before?” Shutting the book Elodie remains quiet for a minute. "It's a slippery slope. Half of battle magic is dark magic, and it's easier to attract hunters when you do anything more than ancestral or healing magic. Even the ritual I used to summon you... It wasn't exactly a walk in the park." She explains, her tone bordering on thoughtful. Hell people in the coven still weren't entirely convinced 'Bash wasn't some being concocted in darkness who knew only how to kill. Like a rabid dog. But Ellie knew better than that. "The spells are kind of difficult, because it requires a different style of magic than I'm used to. But I'm sure once I can get a grip on the style I'll have better luck." Elodie knew that when she ascended to the supremacy it wasn't going to be easy- and this was going to be an uphill battle.

And right now, she was at the bottom of that hill. “So that girl with the alpha is that his mate?” It takes a moment for Elodie to realize he was talking about Nina. "Yeah I suppose so. Nina. I used to go to school with her. She's actually alright for a wolf." Actually, Elodie thought that perhaps if their circumstances were different, she and Nina could be friends. “I thought their packs were enemies.” She hums her agreement, brows furrowing. If she had to guess some sort of deal was struck between the packs. Perhaps their situation was more dire than Elodie had anticipated. Sebastian standing up catches Elodie's attention as he walks over to her, sitting beside her on the bed. “You know what it is!? They are scared. They merged packs because they are actually afraid.” It was sound logic, and she had to agree with him. "I have to agree. I don't think I've seen the packs that desperate. Even before our peace treaty back in the 70's."Prior to this, Elodie couldn't recall a time in history the two packs had joined ranks.

They were rather susceptible to infighting if she recalled correctly. But if things were truly that bad, could Elodie even do anything? Her mother had been a supreme, her? She was still struggling to grasp battle magic, and her coven was falling into chaos. Could she and the packs really save what was left of their communities? "-“Onderful. We will have two packs of wolves to help the coven.” Barely managing a smile she can feel that insecurity creeping through her veins again- and Seb notices. “What is wrong?” The concern in his voice is geninune and Ellie shakes her head, opting not to respond for a moment. "I'm just... I have everything riding on this alliance. If it doesn't go well, and the Coven gets hurt for it... It'll give Mauve enough of a reason to actually challenge me for the Supremacy. But it's more than that, this is the coven's last hope. If this doesn't work, we're all going to die, and it'll be my fault because I wasn't ready to be a Supreme." All the concerns and worries gush from Ellie, atypical of the normally guarded woman; but if she feels comfortable confessing any of this to another soul, it's Sebastian.

Luca Essex | Werewolf. Alpha. Twenty-Four.

    Image

It wasn't just the outside world that Luca had to fight; it was the pack as well. Very few wolves had taken well to the idea of merging packs- even in their most dire circumstances this act was unprecedented. When he and Nina arrived back to the house he could sense her reluctance of being there. He didn't blame her. The pack was careful to mostly only harrass her when he wasn't around; but he caught a few of things that'd happened. Today was no different. Almost the moment they walked through the door, the few pack members still awake and milling about shot Nina look of revulsion before slinking off. Luca was on his way upstairs, Nina trailing behind him when he heard the exchange with Marco. He'd been about to step in, though Nina took charge; warning him to knock it off. In the long run it was probably better for Nina to show that she could fight her own battles. She didn't need Luca rushing to her aid every time someone made snide comments. She could handle herself, and he admired that. Though he made a mental note to talk to Marco tomorrow, and make sure that kind of shit didn't happen again.

They were in their room, Luca discarding his jeans and shirt to flop down into bed. He was exhausted and tomorrow was going to be busy with the ritual to bind him and Nina as mates. After getting into her pajamas, Nina sat at the end of his bed and Luca cast his dark gaze to her questioningly. “They hate me.” It was less of a question and more of a statement. “They are never going to like me.” For a moment a hot anger roared in his belly. This was going to be his mate, the woman who would help him lead the pack and carry on his bloodline. Where did the rest of the pack get off treating her like that? But rather than blow up and do something rash that would further stress tensions between Nina and the others he shook his head. "They won't always dislike you. You're their alpha female now. You have to solidify the pecking order." He explained, though he thought she might already know that. "Deal with them harshly for a bit. The next time someone says something to you- let the wolf deal with it. Once they see you're not going to put up with their shit they'll get their acts together."

“How well do you know Elodie?” The question comes from left-field for him but he shrugs, running a hand through his dark hair. "Not too well. I had a couple conversations with her back in school. Mostly I just know her family's reputation. The Pearson's have been in this town as long as the Essex's." Luca explains as he curls up under the covers, head resting against his pillow. A soft sigh of content eases it's way from his throat as he closes his eyes briefly. "I've heard she's a capable witch, got some internal problems with coven she's gotta deal with. But other than that, as long as she's helpful- I don't really care." Luca admitted. The coven's problems were not his problem. In fact, once the hunters were gone- he didn't know for sure that the two communities wouldn't revert back to their original peace treaty, or perhaps worse. As Nina settled in beside him, Luca shifted so his arm was draped over her waist and her back was flush to his chest. He liked the closeness of his mate when he slept- it helped with the nightmares.

Nina hadn't ever really brought up his nightmares, but Luca knew she was aware of them. She never questioned when he'd hold her a bit closer after one, and he was thankful for that. "Tomorrow's gonna be busy. Are you ready?" The pack elders will have to carry out the actual ritual, but before that they were supposed to complete tasks together to prove their ability to lead the pack together. They would have to take down a deer together, without help from the pack. It would take communication, determination, and physical prowess as well. Honestly, he wasn't too worried. Sure it was hard to hunt without a pack, but he and Nina would figure it out. They'd have to. "There haven't been any recent sightings of hunters in the woods. So it should be safe tomorrow. And then if all goes well, you and I will be mated by this time tomorrow and we can focus on taking back Ashbury." He murmurs, voice rough and gravely as his eyes begin to drift shut.

Sebastian frowned as her words, before he walked over to her. “Ellie, look at me.” He said, taking her hands. It wasn’t often that he comforted her, but when he did he made it count. ”You are going to handle this perfectly. You are meant to be the supreme.” He said as he slowly let go of her hands. ”Don’t worry about Mauve. Once the wolves come to meet with us and agree to help everything is going to be fine. The new alpha seems more open to merging.” He explained. That was the one good thing about new leadership. It meant that the pack wouldn’t be stuck in its old ways. ”Plus, I could tell that even if those wolves are from different packs that alpha is going to do anything to protect his mate. I could tell by his body language today.” He told her.

He could tell that she was getting tired, “Why don’t you get some rest and we will start practicing early in the morning. Tomorrow everything in Ashbury is going to change for the better.” He said before he walked over and started to get ready for bed. He looked at her, ”Do you want me to stay in here with you?” He asked. He knew that sometimes she felt safer with him in her room. He didn’t like to overstep his boundaries with her though. Sebastian laid down with her, closing his eyes and falling asleep.

Sebastian woke up the next morning and sighed as he got out of bed. He got dressed for the day then looked at her, seeing she was still sleeping. “Ellie get up.” He said as he put his shoes on. They had so much to do that day.

Nina relaxed as she felt his arm go around her and pull her close. ”I’m ready.” She whispered as she placed her hand over his. “Everything is going to be perfect.” She told him. She closed her eyes and tried to fall asleep. Though Luca fell asleep before her like he always did. She smiled as she laid there listening to him breathing. Nina closed her eyes, drifting to sleep.

The next morning Nina woke up and slowly got out of Luca’s arms. She sat up and looked around the room. She looked back at Luca, then got up and walked downstairs to get something to eat. She sat down at the table, eating her breakfast. She heard a knock on the door, smiling when she sensed her parents. She got up quickly, opening the door to see her dad. She hugged him, ”About time you came to see me.” She said, as she stepped back. She could tell by her dad’s facial expression that Luca was now in the room. She turned to see him on the stairs. ”I’m going to go start getting ready.” She said as she took her mom’s arm and walked towards the stairs. She looked at Luca as she passed him and went to the spare room to get dressed.

Paul looked at Luca, crossing his arm. He liked the boy, but that didn’t change the fact that he was from the Essex pack. “How are things going?” He asked once Luca got to him. Paul knew that he would have to step down as alpha of his pack today, but he was willing to do that to protect his pack. Paul looked out the window, “My pack is outside.” He said, opening the door and motioning for Luca to follow him. When they walked out their packs were at a stare down. “You all better learn to be friends or you are going to have a bad life.” Paul said, smirking. He frowned as one of the guys from his pack looked at him, ”What happens after today? Kyle asked. Paul sighed, “I’m stepping down as alpha so Luca will be the one you go to.” He explained. His pack frowned, ”So what we have to take orders from some kid now? Kyle growled. Paul frowned, “You watch your tone. That kid is your new alpha and my soon to be son in law. I suggest you drop your attitude before I drop you.” He snapped, putting the young wolf in his place. Paul looked over as one of the elders from Luca’s pack approached them, ”Now now today is suppose to be a happy day. Let’s not bicker.” The elderly lady said. ”Let’s go get everything ready. Luca go get dressed.” She told him.

A few hours later Nina stared at herself in the mirror. She was nervous about merging the packs, but part of her was excited to be with Luca. Sure it had only been a month, but she had grown so attached to him. Nina walked out, seeing Luca standing under the tree that his pack had their ceremonies at. In that moment she didn’t care what their packs thought. Her wolf was going crazy for it’s mate. Nina took his hands when she got to him, looking up at him. ”Well this is exciting” The elder said, smiling at the two of them. She wrapped their hands in a floral vine then started the ceremony. Nina felt like the ceremony was a blur because the next thing she heard what the lady telling Luca to kiss his new mate. Nina kissed him, feeling a spark like she had never felt with anyone. She could tell her felt it too, because his grip tightened slightly on her cheeks. Sure she had kissed other men before, but none of them compared to what she felt in that moment. She looked up at him as he pulled away. Nina knew that it was going to be a fun evening. If it was one thing the packs knew how to do it was party.

Elodie Pearson | Witch. Supreme. Twenty-One.

“Ellie, look at me.” Sebastian's voice was a soft command that rose goosebumps on her skin. Obediently she raised her jade and gold orbs to meet his darker ones, as his hands found her's, holding them gently. ”You are going to handle this perfectly. You are meant to be the supreme.” For a moment she wasn't quite sure how to react, but gave his hands a gentle squeeze of thanks. Truth be told, Seb was the first one who had given such a praise, that she was meant for the Supremacy. Her familiar let go of her hands, though continued to attempt to soothe her insecurities of her newfound position among the coven. In fact, she believed her pink-haired supporter when he promised that things would be okay. That the packs would merge peacefully, and their power combined with the covens would be enough to save everyone. By the time he was done talking, Ellie's head was resting gently against his shoulder as they sat on her bed. "I trust you 'Bash." She finally murmured, sleeping stinging her eyes.

Tomorrow was another day and 'Bash smiled at her, his lips quirking into a smile for a moment. “Why don’t you get some rest and we will start practicing early in the morning. Tomorrow everything in Ashbury is going to change for the better.” Ellie's agreement is nodded, and she wants to thank him for everything. For sticking by her side in a time of loss, for being there for her. But instead she just offers a sleepy half-smile as she crawls into her bed, shifting beneath her covers until she found a comfortable position. She hears Seb moving about the room, probably getting dressed for bed. ”Do you want me to stay in here with you?” The offer is spoken with trepidation as if he's not sure he should be offering. "Please. If you don't mind." Since her mother's death, Elodie had a hard time sleeping. Her mind was too scared that if she fell asleep, the hunters would come. Having Sebastian so close to her would make it easier for her to drift off.

He just grunts as he finishes dressing, and affirms that he doesn't mind. Soon enough the space beside Ellie is dipping and her familiar is crawling into bed beside her. As he clicks her nightstand lamp off, the redhead feels herself drifting off to sleep. "Night Seb." She murmurs before falling into a deep sleep. Though it's not a peaceful one. She starts the night by soft noises that could be whimpers or growls. And even in sleep Ellie is restless, though by the time the sun rises the next morning the witch is curled up with her familiar, her breathing soft and even. For once, in the dawn's rosy light she's still. Peaceful. A thousand miles away from Ashbury and the fighting and the death. But too soon she's being carefully shaken awake, and the first thing to greet her that morning besides the rays of light dancing on her walls, is Bash's, “Ellie get up.” She protests at first, trying to sink back to sleep but he's persistent.

With a last grumble of protest the witch sits up, rubbing her eyes. The alarm clock says it's a bit past eight in the morning; and she finds that Sebastian is already dressed. It doesn't take too long for Elodie to get ready for the day, showering and getting dressed in an outfit that's clean. She doesn't spend too long picking out jewelry, just a simple necklace, a ring, and as usual her mother's wedding ring. Once her hair was done and makeup applied she was ready to go. They had work to do today, Ellie had to lead a ritual to give thanks to a local harvest goddess that night, the supreme also wanted to pick a thank-you gift for Luca and Nina for their cooperation, and she needed to go to the family greenhouse to help her father with some plants, and collect some ingredients. On top of that one of the wolves was supposed to be dropping off the pack's intel on the hunters. And she still had to get a grip on battle magic and address the coven in depth about how the meeting went last night, and how things were going to be going forward between pack and coven. "Let's get this over with."

Luca Essex | Werewolf. Alpha. Twenty-Four.

    Image

Things were a blur. The moment he and Nina woke up there was a sense of... something in the air. Excitement, reluctance- it didn't matter to him what the other members of the pack were feeling about this union. They would learn to deal with it or face the consequences. He and Nina were in the middle of breakfast when there was a knock on the door- her parents. He knew they were coming, with the rest of the their pack. After Nina said hello to her father, she left presumably to get ready for the ceremony, leaving Luca and Paul together. "How are things going?” At this Luca raised a bemused eyebrow. "Well, no one's killed anyone yet. That's a success." He pauses for a moment before adding in a more serious tone, "They'll learn to get used to it. Or at least keep their opinions to themselves." It was true. After today Luca knew he would have to lead the pack with tight reins for now. Until they learned to trust him and accept him as their new alpha. "My pack is outside." Paul announced, and Luca followed his gaze to the windows. Paul wastes no time in opening up the door motioning for Luca to follow; and the alpha complies.

It's silence outside as the early morning rays shine down on the pack, and the tension is thick enough to choke on. A few birds call back and forth to one another in the woods; blissfully unawares to Luca's situation. The wolf in him wishes to be free. To run from this. Not deal with the pettiness of the packs but he knows that's not an option. Luca has to be more of an alpha today than ever. He's half-listening as Paul lectures the group on getting along, though his attention is caught when one wolf, Kyle, whines something about taking orders from a kid. Luca's already feeling restless enough and he's about to rebuff the wolf when Paul steps in. “You watch your tone. That kid is your new alpha and my soon to be son in law. I suggest you drop your attitude before I drop you.” He can feel a sort of smirk of amusement and he simply cocks an eyebrow at the scolded wolf who mumbled an apology. Before his own pack can get riled up, one of the elders comes out telling Luca to go get dressed.

The sun had climbed further into the sky, and Luca could feel spring on the wind. By the time that the sun had begun to sunk, Luca found himself standing beneath the tree that the mating ceremony was held at. The packs were gathered, dressed in their formal wear. It was perfect really. Soon enough Nina joined him beneath the tree- beautiful enough that it hurt. His wolf was snarling with impatience. He wanted to claim her, wanted the pack to know that Nina was his alone, as he belonged to her. Rather he simply offered a smile, which lit his dark orbs with a sort of excitement. "You look stunning." He whispered, just loud enough for her to hear. The ceremony was a blur; and soon enough he was being told to kiss his new mate. There was something different about this kiss than the other's they shared. There was a passion, true and deep as the new mates shared their first kiss. The pack cheered, as Luca pulled away his cheeks slightly flushed from the excitement. Now came the fun part, the party the pack had been working to put together.

A couple hours later, a first dance, and plenty of drinking and toasting later Luca was sitting at his and Nina's table in the backyard. There were fairy lights strung up and music being played and the packs were beginning to interact with one another, getting to know one another and dare he say it? Have a good time. Luca hadn't gotten a chance to talk very much with his new mate since the ceremony but under the fairy lights and starlight with a half cup of whiskey he turned to her with a grin. "Tomorrow we'll go on our first hunt. Bring something back for the pack." He promised, raising her hand to his lips to kiss it gently. "You were stunning today Nina. Really. I know this wasn't... This probably wasn't what you imagined as a kid- but I swear I'll be the best mate I can be for you. I'll protect you and honor you. I'll support you and I'll lead with you. So... Thanks. For agreeing to this." He spoke in a voice just loud enough for her to hear, and her alone. This was a special moment for the two of them, and Luca didn't want others to overhear.

Sebastian walked with her towards the greenhouse, I think today is going to be a good day.” He said as they walked into the greenhouse. He looked at her, ”What are you going to get our new wolf friends?” He asked as he helped her throughout the greenhouse. He looked over when he seen that she sensed someone coming towards them. ”Speaking of wolves.” He said, moving towards the door. He opened it, surprised to see a wolf with a paper in his hands. He took it from the boy, ”Why thank you.” He said, smirking as he handed the paper to Elodie. He knew that meant the wolves were in on their little partnership. Once he watched the wolf walked off he turned to her. ”How are you going to tell the others?” He asked.

He was really worried about the coven becoming upset with her. They would be foolish to no trust her though. He smiled at her, ”I think everything is going to be amazing.” He said as he kissed her cheek. ”Now let’s get back to work.” He said as he moved back over to the plants. He smiled to himself as he began to water some of the plants. He knew that she used many of these plants for spells.

[I literally kept putting planets instead of plants lmfao]

Nina turned towards him after he talked, then took his hands. “Luca, this is everything I have ever wanted. Don’t go through life thinking that you aren’t what I want. Sure, This is not what I was told would happen my whole life, but I’m glad that you are my mate. You have proven over the last month that you are worthy of being an amazing mate.” She told him so only he could hear. ”You are going to be amazing as alpha.” She assured him, before she leaned in and kissed him softly.

She turned back to face the party in front of them. She took a sip of her drink, then looked over as one of Luca’s friends brought them over a shot. She took the shot from him and threw it back with Luca and his friend. She smiled as her dad came over. She got to her feet, hugging her dad. Paul hugged his daughter tightly, “You come to me if you need anything.” He whispered to her. He looked at Luca as he pulled away. He put his hand on the boy’s shoulder, “You come to me for help too. I know you kind of became alpha quickly because of your dad passing so soon. If you need advice of something, don’t be afraid to ask.” He told Luca. He watched as Nina went over to talk to her mother, “Do me a favor? Please don’t let anything happen to my daughter.” He said to Luca.

Elodie Pearson | Witch. Supreme. Twenty-One.
    Image

The sun shone weakly through the thick, early morning clouds as Elodie and her familiar made their way to the family's greenhouse.
The greenhouse was set on the back of the Pearson's extensive land, far away from the house and the street. The path from the house to the greenhouse was carefully lined with many different trees. The morning air was brusque, turning Elodie's cheeks a soft shade of rosy pink and helped her shake the last lingering drowsiness from her bones. The two walked mostly in silence until they reached the greenhouse; the young witch drawing to a halt in front of the glass door. When Eliza had been alive, she'd put a boundary and protection spell on the greenhouse that she'd have to disarm. Exhaling the penny-haired witch raises her hand to the door, sketching a rune of protection on the ancient wood. With the boundary spell temporarily lowered, Elodie steps through the threshold of the greenhouse. At once the scents of different herbs drift towards her and the young witch's shoulders relax. Ellie had always loved the greenhouse.

Some of her earliest memories were of following her mother around while learning all she could about the plants. "I think today is going to be a good day." It's Bash's voice that pulls Elodie from her thoughts, and she forces herself back to the task at hand. "I'd like to think you're right. There have been too many dark days recently." The remark is wistful, sagely as Elodie bends down picking up a wicker basket and her pruning shears. Wordlessly she holds the basket out to Sebastian, "You wanna help? We're gonna be focusing on the yarrow, lavender, sage, and thyme today. Oh! I also need to get some rosemary." Once 'Bash took the basket, Elodie started down the rows of plants carefully using her pruning shears to collect what she needed from each plant and herb, before then depositing them in the wicker basket Sebastian held for her. This was one of her favorite things to do with her familiar. The work never felt like too much and it was nice to have another hand helping her out. T

hey're nearly done with the sage when Sebastian speaks up again, asking the young supreme what she'd get the wolves as a gift. "Huh. Um..." Pausing, wiping her brow of sweat carefully Elodie considers all the possible things to gift them. It was customary, and would hopefully help this new alliance stabilize. "I'd like to give them a few smaller, practical gifts. After I'm done brewing those up-" She pauses to gesture at the basket around Seb's arm. "I'll be gifting some of them to the pack. Since the alpha's bond is new, I'll also bake a loaf of bread, bless it with a mixture of butter, honey, and cinnamon for them... And a protection spell for their home if they want. It's probably too early to invoke a fertility blessing for Nina, so I'll hold off on that. What do you think? Think I'm missing any gifts?" The words were hardly out of her mouth when Sebastian's gaze raised over her shoulders, "Speaking of wolves..." Before Elodie could worry about going to greet the wolf, Sebastian was already taking care of it. When he returned he held a piece of paper, handing it to the witch.

Eagerly she unfolded it, skimming the information with an unreadable expression. The report listed off where the wolves had the most sightings of hunters, how many they had scouted, and even a few names. The information was admittedly better than what the coven had, which was next to nothing as the hunters knew how shield themselves from their magic for the most part. However they still didn't have a base of operation for the hunters, where they hid themselves, or what their armory was like. Rubbing her temples, Elodie is reminded of another headache. ”How are you going to tell the others?” Sighing, Elodie doesn't respond immediately, just watches Bash as he begins to water plants. "I think I should just rip it off like a band-aid. The coven is meeting tonight to train in battle magic and help me in brewing up some potions from the herbs. I'll just tell them then, answer their questions and hope they react well." What else could she do? She knew that logically as long as this alliance worked out- it was their best chance of survival.

"I'm not as worried about the younger witches, but some of them remember the tensions between the pack and coven before the treaty, and that never really went away when it was signed." Sighing, rubbing her temples Elodie squeezes her eyes shut for a moment. "When we take the gifts for the pack to them, I'll ask Luca and Nina to bring a couple of trusted wolves to the next coven meeting. Maybe if the coven can speak with them and see they're not a threat for now, that'll help convince them." The prospect of how the coven would react felt overwhelming to Elodie, even with Sebastian's reassurance. Still she gives a small nod as they turn back to pruning and taking care of the many plants in the greenhouse. By the time the two are finally done, the wicker basket is heavy with many freshly collected herbs, flowers, and plants. Outside the sun hangs high in the sky, the sunlight streaming through the windows. Elodie's hands smell sharp and tangy, though she enjoys that. "I think that takes care of business here... Lets get these herbs prepared and hung to dry. We'll only prep and dry some though, and use the rest for poultices and salves. Then I'd like to get some practice in with battle magic before the rest of the coven gets here." After the herbs dried, she could begin making and blessing potions and tinctures for the coven and the pack.

Luca Essex | Werewolf. Alpha. Twenty-Four.

    Image

The wedding reception was in full swing, and Luca's head was positively buzzing. Partially from all the booze and shots he'd consumed with packmates and friends; but also from Nina's affirmation that she wanted this pairing like he did. That she saw him as a worthy mate, and she was content with their new status as mates. For the first time in what feels like years, Luca feels satisfied, like he can let his guard down. He knows on the back of his mind danger was still ever present, but tonight he could just forget about it. Focus on his beautiful, capable mate and enjoy the newly merged packs. His lips practically still burn from Nina's early kiss when he notes her parents approaching their table. The young alpha had been worried at first that they wouldn't care for him. That they were only sending their daughter and pack off to him because it was that or death. Yet, as Paul came over giving his daughter a hug and clasping Luca's back- he felt nothing but acceptance and joy from the older wolf. After congratulating his daughter, Paul turned to Luca with a serious expression. “You come to me for help too. I know you kind of became alpha quickly because of your dad passing so soon. If you need advice of something, don’t be afraid to ask.”

Luca doesn't want to admit it, but the offer strikes him as sweet. Since his father's death, his murder, Luca had felt lost. He hadn't expected to take over the pack for years- and felt thrust into the position a little too quickly. Paul was a wise pack leader, and even Luca's father had begrudging respect for the man. Luca gives Paul's shoulder a firm squeeze, his expression filled with gratitude. "I can't tell you how much I appreciate that Paul. I'll be sure to do that, I value your advice. Everyone knows what an accomplished alpha you are." Shortly after he spoke, Nina excused herself to rush over to her mother; and Luca's gaze lingered on the two with a small smile. “Do me a favor?" When Paul speaks again, Luca forces his gaze away from Nina, and back to her father. "Please don’t let anything happen to my daughter.” The request is simple, yet it warrants a powerful reaction from Luca.

The mere thought of losing his mate causes his wolf to snarl, raise it's hackles with unease. That unease translates to Luca's lips as he pulles them down in a frown. "I'll protect Nina until my last breath- and beyond if I can." The promise rolls from him in a heavy, honest tone. The young alpha wants Paul to know that he'd give his own life to save Nina's in a heartbeat if it came down to it. The mere thought of losing his mate was agonizing for Luca. "It's not just Nina though. I'll do my best to protect everyone. The pack." It was unspoken though that Nina came first. She was his first concern and priority and would be. A pack was nothing without it's alphas. Paul gives Luca one last embrace of thanks, patting his back before walking back to the pack to mingle. Overhead the moon was high in the sky, basking everyone in it's silver light.

Exhaling a soft sigh of tranquility, Luca weaves through the crowd of wolves, and makes his way back to Nina. He comes up behind her, snaking his arms around her waist and presses a soft kiss to her head. "What do you think? Wanna slip out of here for a bit? Shift and explore the woods for a bit?" The reception was lovely, but it was winding down and Luca wanted to slip away and spend some one-on-one time with Nina. His wolf was practically howling to be freed, and the moon's soft beams were beginning to get to him. And at this point most of the pack was too drunk to miss them, or even recall they'd slipped out.

Sabastian held the basket as he walked around the greenhouse with Elodie, listening to her every word. "I think your plans are fantastic. So when did you want to meet with the wolves? I know that they can be very protective of their property. Perhaps you should warn the alpha about our arrival so we don't become dinner." He teased, chuckling a little. Sebastian heard her mention the coven not being happy, "The elders need to learn it is time for a new age and that you are in charge." He said as he held the heavy basket in his hands.

When she mentioned hanging up the stuff he nodded then followed her to where she wanted to hang them. He began to hang them up to dry, "Just know that no matter what anyone says your decision to help the wolves is a good one." He told her. He knew that sometimes she doubted herself, but he liked to remind her that she was smart and knew what she was doing. When they finished he walked out with her into the field knowing that she wanted to practice. "Do you think you will need to use magic for this fight?" He asked, feeling the wind pick up. He had always loved the way that her powers were so strong she manipulated the elements. Sebastian hoped that the wolves would stick to their word though. He knew that in the past there were members that liked to manipulate the witches. Lunca and Nina seemed genuine though. "Alright love let's get to practicing." He said, chuckling.

It wasn't long before the members of the coven began to arrive and they had to return inside. Sebastian followed Elodie into the main room, seeing all the witches, watching her. He nodded to greet a few of them before he pulled out Elodie's chair for her at the head table.

Nina was talking to her mom when she felt Luca put his arm around her. She looked at him, seeing that her mom had joined another conversation. "Sure." She replied, smiling a little. She felt like it would be nice to get away for a bit as well. She let him lead her out of the party and walked into the darkness with him. Part of her was really excited to go explore, but she always had that nagging in the back of her head about the hunters. She didn't want them to get hurt while they were out. Nina shifted into her wolf form along with Luca then stretched her paws out in front of her. She hadn't shifted in awhile and she felt tense. Her wolf was like most of the members of her pack, mostly white with specks of gray and piercing eyes. Nina took off with Luca through the woods, hearing the sounds of the wind moving through the trees. She always felt more relaxed when she didn't have to worry. She could tell it had been awhile since Luca had ran for fun as well.

She still remembered the first time she ran into Luca when she was out running with her friends like this. They had argued and she swore she would never like him. She never thought this would happen and that they would be mates. Nina stopped when they came to a ledge that over looked a field, though what was in it was more disturbing. She looked at Luca, then looked at the field where hunters were setting up. She watched as Luca's eyes narrowed before she nudge him to go back. They needed to get home before things got ugly. She walked away from him, then looked back at him still staring. She growled, getting his attention before they headed back to their pack. Once they were back she turned back and pulled her dress on before she looked at him. "We need to tell them." she said as she watched him pull his shirt on.
