Marauders

With classes just starting, Lucy had a heavy load on her shoulders. Sixth year had just begun and she knew this was one of, if not the, most important years at Hogwarts. She had just left the tower, on her way to her first class with the Hufflepuffs in Transfiguration. She went in and sat at the table, pulling out her book to go over what she needed in order to be ready for the class. She sat a little way away from Remus, and his friends, smiling a little in hello but mostly focusing on her book. She wanted to be prepared for Professor Mcgonagalls class before she got there.

Ferne was sat in the courtyard with her nose buried in her muggle studies book, she'd been keeping to herself ever since the incident with Gregory Meyers took place. While she had to agree, maybe she did blow things out of proportion he really shouldn't have gotten her angry; he stole her assignment and then got her in trouble - it annoyed her to no end that everyone believed him over her. She'd never done anything wrong while at school, but yet she wast he one with detention every friday till eleven while everyone else was out having fun, she heaved out a sigh before huffing.

The bell rang for first class and she stood, packing up her bag to head to the class. She ended up taking longer than she expected to, leaving the only available seats by either Sirius, or Remus. But Professor McGonagall looked at her so she chose the seat nearest her, being Sirius Black's table. She pulled out her book and sighed, smiling a little at Sirius. "Morning, Sirius, why aren't you sitting by James today? Hasn't dumped you, has he?"

"It would seem so love, he's off with Evans," he scoffed, "I knew the bloke was smitten but I didn't think he'd go on and leave me for her," Sirius near pouted as he thought about it, of course he'd leave him to his own devices now that he'd gotten what he wanted; a relationship with the ginger woman he'd been pining for for over four years now. Everyone knew they were good together, but he had a hard time being second best; even if it was to be expected.

Ferne got up and made her way into main hall then headed towards her next class, she adjusted her robes as she sat down at one of the back tables then opened her book so she could begin the lesson.

Remus looked up as she sat down next to him, smiling politely as she sat down next to him. "Good Morning, Ferne, how was your morning?" He asked her, as he waited for the professor to begin teaching. "I didn't see you at breakfast, I heard you ended up with detention after what happened with Gregory Meyers."

"Thats unfortunate to hear, now what will you do?" She asked, laughing a little. "At least you still have Remus to keep you company," She offered, flipping to the page they were starting on.

She groaned at the mention of the asshats name then sighed, "He stole my essay, and worksheet and tried to say I stole his work; the teacher took his word over mine, so now I've got detention," she shook her head then wet her lips ,"I'm no ravenclaw but I'm not bloody stupid, he's got it out for me not sure why but I'm totally unequipped to handle someone with that personality,"

"No idea! thats the thing I've got not idea what to do with my time, its not fun teasing first years without James, I'll have you know we've come up with some great ideas in our time and Remus.. Remus is too nice; he always feels bad afterwards," he huffed, "Will you tease first years with me, Lucy?" he asked hopefully.

"No, because teasing first years is mean, Sirius," She said, shaking her head at him. "Maybe you should find a new use of your time, James found someone, why don't you find someone?" She asked him.

He sighed. "Why don't you go back to the Professor instead? Maybe theres a way to prove he did take your essay," He suggested to her, turning so he faced her.

He made a sound of disgust, "A girlfriend would surely take my soul," he said as he looked at her, "I'm sure I'll find a way to occupy my time, Lucy, don't you worry - surely there has to be something I can do; definitely not studying though," he scoffed making another face.

She sighed," I really just don't want to be a bother, it's not worth it he'l get whats coming to him I'm sure of it," she mumbled as she shrugged a little before wetting her lips, "The professor didn't believe me anyway,"

"You have to have a soul for it to be taken," She said, rolling her eyes. "Are you saying James has had his soul taken by Lily? Because he looks ecstatic to be soulless," She said to him. "And I'm sure studying won't kill you," She added, shaking her head.

"If you want help, you know I would be happy to help. I'm a prefect, and I don't think it fair you being wrongly accused of something you didnt do..." He said softly. "I'll help you if you need it. Just ask."

She smiled a little,"Thank you, Remus," she said lightly as she sighed, "I'm sure.. I mean I don't want him to get away with it I just don't know how to go about it," Ferne said as she looked at him then lookedat her book.

"I'm plenty smart I don't need to be cramming any more knowledge in my brain, I could have been a Ravenclaw you know?" he said to her nodding but sighed, "But I chose to be in red and gold, blue isn't really my color,"

"I'm sure you look plenty fine in blue," She snorted, shaking her head. "You'll find something more to do with your time, you never know. Maybe its time you started tutoring or practicing more for Quidditch?"

"Well, you find a way to prove he is guilty. Are there any spells you know that would allow you to do that?" He asked curiously.

"besides the one that makes your bum itch every time you lie, nope," she smiled a little as she looked at him then sighed a bit, "I suppose I'll have to hex him into next semester,"

He smiled a little, "Thats a compliment, well I never are you hitting on me?" he teased her playfully before poking her nose, "It's alright love, I know I'm handsome," he winked.

"Please Sirius, I'm out of your league," She teased, shaking her head. "You couldn't handle me, plus I'm not too keen to hit on someone who insists women suck the soul out of him,"

"You could try that, put the curse on him, and then ask him to tell the truth. If he doesn't that would be proof wouldn't it? He'd need to go to Madam Pomfrey for it to be cured anyway." He asked.

She nodded a little, "It would be but I'd still get detention for putting a hex on him," she mumbled then whined a bit, "I can't ever win," she pouted a little before scribbling down some notes.

He grinned, "You act like I'm such a bad but we all know about that crush you had on me in second year, wasn't much of a secret," he teased her.

"Well, I was twelve at the time, I've had time to grow, mature, and realize that I am in fact out of your league," She grinned. "It's alright Sirius, you'll find someone. I'm sure of it," She nodded, dating her notes and writing the heading.

He chewed on his lip for a second. "Not if someone else put the hex on him for you," He said, raising his eyebrows.

Ferne looked at him and shook her head,"I can't let you do that," she said to him as she shook her head, "I'll just deal with it, it's fine"

He grinned,"You wound me love, but you're not wrong I'm a scoundrel you're too good for me; most women are," he chuckled as he sighed a little, "Thats why the ones I do date steal my soul, m'too good for'em because the ones good enough for me are out of my league" he spoke dramatically.

"You'll find someone within your league, Sirius, I'm sure. Or you could just not be a scoundrel, and maybe someone out of your league will give you a try," She teased, cupping his chin and laughing. "You've got a cute face Sirius, you'll win someone over."

"I can't do it, I'm prefect, but we both know people who could," He said meaningfully, and shrugged. "If you want to we can, just a suggestion. Not fair you have to suffer from someone else."

Ferne sighed, finally dressed in normal clothing for once she felt at ease. Being a pureblood there were expectations of her in society, though her family had no care for those expectations; they lived life as they pleased. Her family was a blend of the houses, some slytherin, but more ravenclaw than any of the houses. Her parents were just as delighted when she was placed in huffelpuff. Her mother had been in gryffindor and her father had been in ravenclaw ; neither of them were upset in the decision - they didn't see the point. She sighed as she walked over to lucy, "My mom sent me a rather interesting owl yesterday ; muggles are coloring their hair bright colors like pink or purple, witches have been doing it for ages for kicks, I wonder who sold them the idea, she said the people in the shoppes have hair drier than a piece of coral," she snorted.

"I'd dye my hair a crazy color but I'd need it to be easily changed back, my father would likely kill me," She laughed, shaking her head. "How are things with you? Still got detention? You could always ask James or Sirius to get him back, they'd love to you know it,"
