Lifting her eyes she noticed a store close by it would give her a chance to get what she needed, plus allow her some time away from the others. "Why don't we split up, I'll get me some clothes, while you guys get some food yeah?" She offered, not giving either a chances to response she was out of the car and walking off towards the store. Upon entering she grabbed a small basket, before she started wandering around the store. Picking up backpack she wandered around dropping small things into the basket. Then headed to the clothing selections. Browsing over what they had, she kept her guard up but kept on like she was just looking. Every so often placing something into the bag. Once she got everything she needed she walked back towards the front of the store. Noticing no one was around the front she just walked out the door. It seemed like the small store didn't have enough employees to cover theft well. Heading back to the car she slipped into the back seat, shaking her head it was as if she'd never even left the car.
Carter watched as Harper left the car, then turned to look at Abby. "I know you want to help, but right now we need to do this fast. So the best thing for you to do is just wait right here." He told her before getting out of the car. Then heading into the store. As he moved along the store picked up small things and stuff to snack on. It wasn't much but it would be enough for them to not have to stop for food. Grabbing a case of water he headed to the front, smiling at the woman at the register. Paying for the water he left the store, making it back into the car before Harper. He looked over at Abby. "Thirsty?" He questioned her, placing the water down in the back seat. Then started cleaning out his pockets, once done settling down in the driver seat. He'd managed to get them some crackers, beef jerky and pretzels.
Once Harper was in the car he started driving. With one place in mind, it was a place him and Harper had stayed at briefly when she was a kid. But since he couldn't get work they left. But now that they were older it wouldn't be hard for them to support themselves. As he drove he could hear the girls chatting idly. But they left him out, he was thankful for that. He just didn't know if he could deal with talking to his sister right now. After everything that had happened in the past few months, it wasn't worth pushing her away for. But he had to learn to be understanding of her feelings. Looking in rear view mirror he noticed she'd dosed off. A soft smile pulling at his lips, before he peered over at Abby. She didn't seem like she was far from sleep herself. Chuckling softly to himself, he just drove on.
After a few hours he pulled on to a rickety road, he could tell it had been years since someone had been down it. The drive was a short one, but rather rough. Pulling to a stop, he threw a look over at Abby, surprised she was still asleep. "Hey." He shook her gently, wanting to wake her up first. "We've
arrived." He knew that the place would need a good cleaning, plus they'd need to get their hands on things they'd need.
