He'd felt relaxed after her hands worked out the stress in his muscles. But when her arms wrapped around him he felt himself calm down and rested his head back against her shoulder. He didn't want to move from his spot, though he knew that staying here forever wasn't happening. "Yeah, the old man down the way its pretty cool, I guess." He told her, a sigh left his lips when she got up. Smiling her reached out and took her hand before hoisting himself off the couch. He then pulled her into his side and wrapped his arm around her waist. "If you want we can pay him a visit, maybe make him some food and thank him for the place to stay." He suggested. He knew that it was a bit short notice, but there wasn't anyway they could pay him right now and even if they had to steal a little bit so they could make extra then he would.

Abby smiled as he pulled her up into him giggling softly. She looked up at him her arms wrapping around him and she nodded. "Yeah we could bake him something." she said and grinned. "Come on let's go to the store and take a look at what they have." she said and bit her lip. She wondered if she needed to cover up or anything. Abby was use to people staring wherever she went because she was the ideal human... or so they thought. Really she was better than a human... her gifts where to be everything more than a human ever could be.

Abby smiled as they headed to the car and she slipped into the front seat and buckled up. "So how long has it been since you have been back to this town?" she asked him curious if he knew everything there was about the town or if they got to discover it again for the first time together.

Carter nodded at her suggestion, at baking for the man. He would have already prepared his own food by the time the got back and made anything. So her idea was a good one. After leading her to the car he opened the door for her, before getting in himself. As he started to drive his way back to town he was surprise at the question she asked. Looking briefly over at her, he blinked before turning his attention back to the road. "No, I've not returned since we lived here briefly." He informed her. "Though it doesn't seem to have changed much." He told her pulling into the parking lot of the large grocery store. Stepping from the car he waited till she joined him at the front of the car, before he headed into the store together. "Any thoughts on what you want to have for dinner?"

Abby smiled and nodded. "I spent a few years in a small town until the rumors where to much but it was always the same. Day in and day out." She chuckled and shrugged. "Hmm meatloaf and potatoes sound really good." she said and looked over at him. "What do you think?" she asked him wondering if he had something else in mind. "We might want to pick up a few basics for the house anyways." she suggested. Abby grinned as she looked over at him. He was so handsome. "So I am guessing you have a plan here. Does any of it involve me helping in any ways? Or are you just going to hide me away?" she asked and bit her lip. She really didn't want to keep being the tag a long she wanted to help.

Carter nodded hearing her suggestion on food. "That sound really good actually." He told her. Grabbing a basket he then grabbed her hand and started to lead them towards the grocery section. "We're only here to get what we need for dinner." He told her, if he knew Harper she'd have gotten things they'd needed yesterday. It might not have been enough but it would hold them over for a bit. He lead her down the isle letting her gather things for dinner, and whatever they were going to bake for the farmer. "We don't want to steal close to home." He whispered to her when they were alone on an isle. "It draws to much attention to the new comers in town." He shook his head, "that's the last thing we want." He grabbed a can of fruit, knowing they didn't want to spend all their money on idle things. Once they'd gathered all the things they needed for food, he lead them to the checkout.

Abby smiled and walking with him through the store blushing and looking at him as he grabbed her hand. It was so little and yet it meant so much to her. Abby smiled softly as they walked slowly gathering what they needed. She looked up at Carter as he explained the rules. She nodded and leaned up kissing his cheek as someone came into the tile as he finished. She giggled at the look on his face then took the fruit from his hand setting it into the basket. She pulled on his hand until they headed tot he check out. She handed the cashier the money smiling and thanked the young boy before heading back out to the car with their bags still holding Carter's hand. Abby smiled as they drove back to the place. "I would really like to put some chairs up on the porch. There is something beautiful in the wildness of the yard." she said as they walked into the house. She set the bags down sorting through the bags and putting away what they didn't need for dinner. She gathered what was for the old man's baking she would do later in the corner and then turned to look at Carter. "Carter..." she bit her lip gently wondering how this was all going to go. She was crazy about this man that showed her what fun was and makes her feel safe but how were they going to go about this or was he trying to ignore it. It really didn't seem like he was, not with those kisses and how he touched her.

Carter smiled at Abby as they exited the store, he noticed how she was reluctant to let go of his hand. But he hadn't minded. So once they were in the car and on the way home he missed the contention, but knew he needed to focus on the road and getting them home for dinner. Once they were home, he smiled as he carried in the groceries. Stopping in the door way to the kitchen he looked back as she mentioned having chairs on the porch. "Maybe we can round something up, make some or something." He suggested, "Harper spent a summer working with a carpenter." He told her knowing she might be able to string something together. He really wasn't sure what she'd done during the summer, but she'd never gotten paid it was just her keeping herself busy while he worked. Setting the bags down he turned to get out of her way, he'd never been good in the kitchen. He'd always made due with what he could, but once Harper got bigger she'd taken more of a passion for it. As he headed to check on his sister he froze hearing his name, turning he peered at her. "Yeah?" He questioned her, wondering what she'd wanted. Normally he was flirty and keen on them moving things forward and getting to know each other, but he's mind had been so preoccupied with his sister, he'd forgotten all about Abby.

Abby blushed as he turned back to her and looked down. She had a little while before she needed to start dinner but she did have something that was really pressing on her mind and she needed to figure out how to ask Carter. She didn't want to be a distraction to what needed to be done but she also did want him to know she hadn't come along just because he could protect her or teach her. Abby bit her bottom lip. "Can we talk for a little while?" she asked and clasped her hands behind her back. "I mean if you have something to do we can talk later if that is better but I would really like to have a little while just to talk. We've been doing nothing but running this entire time." she admitted and shrugged. Abby pushed her hands down her sides nervously and wondered if Carter even knew why she had come along. It had to be obvious even to him that she liked him more than just a little but.

Carter furrowed his brow at her question. "Yeah." He told her, wondering why she felt nervous. She should know by now he'd always be there when she needed him, no matter how small she felt the issue was. "No, I was actually about to check on Harper." He shrugged it off like it wasn't a big deal. "Wanna go on a walk?" He knew what ever it was she didn't want anyone else around. And he was fine with that, after all she'd learned to trust him. She'd never been used to anyone carring beside Alex. This was new for her and he knew adjusting would take time. When she agreed he led the way to the door, holding open for her. He wouldn't mind actually taking their time in enjoying their surroundings. Besides they needed time to relax and rest from their journey. "So what did you want to talk about?" He asked her as they found a dirt path to explore.

Abby smiled as he asked if she wanted to go on a walk. She nodded softly and slipped out the door with him. She bit her bottom lip as she walked with him in silence. She wasn't sure how to start but looked up when he asked what she wanted to talk about. She blushed and smiled nervously. "Really it's silly and not urgent but I wanted to talk about why I came along. It was a very quick decision to make. Don't get me wrong I am not regretting a thing, I am glad I came with you but I want you to know I didn't just come a long because you can protect me, or because I want you to train me." she stopped speaking her face heating up again. "I like you Carter... I know there are so many more important things but I want to be sure that it is something you are aware of. I figured we would need to talk it over eventually. Or maybe that is just me. I have never really been in any kind of a relationship before as you know and I know it is something new to you too right?" she asked confirming again. Abby fiddled with her fingers and looked up at him. She knew that they had shared each other's first kiss but as far as everything else she didn't know what his past really looked like but if it was like this now she couldn't really see how he would have much time to date.

Carter listened to her as she rambled on, he chuckled softly at her nervousness. Hearing her questioned his ear perked up, feeling his own nerves taking hold of him. He stopped walking abruptly, reaching out he grabbed her arms causing her to stop as well. He knew this would be something they'd need to talk about. And now they had the chance, even if she thought it wasn't the prefect time. He thought now was better than never, he'd been worried they'd never get this chance. "Right." He told her gently, making her face him. "I've never had the luxury of dating." He told her knowing that she'd heard quite a bit about his past, and even though he'd not told her every detail she knew that he'd always been far to busy to ever date. "But thank you," he told her, knowing she'd calmed a lot of his fears. He would have always questioned why she was there if it wasn't for her words. "I don't think about conversations, and just how much saying something like that could make a world of differences." He told her, "but I guess I need to learn how to talk more." He teased her, before pulling her into him, his arms wrapping around her waist before leaning down and pressing a soft kiss to her lips. "Because I like you too." He smiled

Abby stopped as he grabbed for her. She looked up at him and waited the agonizing moments before he started to speak again. She nodded as he started to tell her about himself. She nodded blushing lightly worried he was trying to let her down easy when he pulled her into him. She grinned glad he was going to work on talking more. She would be perfect for him because she would want to talk about it all the time, whatever it was. She looked up at him grabbing gently to the front of his shirt. His lips met hers and her fears vanished. She was so glad that the kisses had not been just spur of the moment things but that he wanted to then he spoke the words that made her heart squeeze and she almost squealed. Abby beamed and tossed her arms around his neck and kissed him again hard and breathless. She blushed as she pulled back and hoped that this meant while they had so much to do they could find time to figure this out together as well. Abby nodded and smiled. "So does that mean when we meet new people I can introduce you as my boyfriend now?" she asked her cheeks beating red. She was filled with childish delights and yet woman desires.

Carter let out a soft chuckle as she asked about him being her boyfriend. "If that's what you want." He told her, knowing they were entering a different zone then what they'd previously been in. He would have liked it to be a bit more romantic, but it would have to wait till her life wasn't on the line. He peered down at her, his eyes taking in her red tint cheeks wondering if his reflected hers. "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked, knowing it wasn't the most graceful thing he's done, but making it official after all would help both of them deal with their fear of rejection. He lifted his hand, gently caressing her cheek as he waited for her answer. Though he'd been sure of her answer a few seconds ago. But now he was waiting with baited breath, and his heart in his throat. It seemed like forever before she answered him, like it was something she'd been rethinking. But he didn't know if it was that or his mind just playing tricks on him and making it seem like hours had past.

Abby blushed and nodded softly. She looked up at him as his mind raced and then he finally asked her a question she hadn't really thought about. She looked down and smiled looking back at him. She chuckled and leaned her head into his hand. "Yes." she said smiled more at the relief that spread over his face. She chuckled. "Did a part of you worry even after all that I might say no?" she chuckled and pulled herself closer leaning into him and pressing her lips to his letting her body take over as it demanded. She had never let her body steer anything it always being to dangerous but with Carter she knew she was safe in so many ways and now they had so much more to explore together. Abby smiled as she pulled back taking his hand. "We should get back so I can start dinner." she said and grinned.

Carter felt the breath he was holding leave him, and a smile spread across his face. He could feel a blush tinting his ears and neck as she questioned him. "A little bit." He told her truthfully, "I mean I hoped I wasn't rushing anything." He went on to explain himself, but felt her lean into him. He knew it was just a teasing jest and that explaining himself wasn't needed. Feeling the flesh of her lips caressed his made his mind go numb. Gripping her waist he pulled her closer as they basked in the shared kiss. She wasn't holding back now and he felt like something had changed for them. He wondered if it had to deal with their sexual attraction. He was worried that it might cloud their minds. But hoped they could both could work together at a steady pace and figure this out. When she pulled away he sighed contently knowing they were on the right path he just had to be patient. "Okay," he nodded hearing her explanation on heading back. "Do you need help?" He asked, knowing that he wasn't the greatest cook but he could still cook.

Abby giggled and relaxed. She was so glad she had the courage to talk with him. They started to walk back towards the house and she shook her head. "No I got it and you should check on your sister now. I know it's still hard to talk but she needs you still." Abby said and looked down at her shoes as they walked. She really wanted them to make up. Abby smiled as the house came back into view. "Can you even cook?" she asked curiously. He didn't seem like the culinary type. Abby could see him making things but never food. She grinned because at some point he had to have made something but still it was a funny image to her for some reason.

Carter nodded as she denied his help not that he minded he could still offer his company and conversion, the limited amount of both. But when she mention Harper he winced and he could tell she noticed as she went on to explain what he could see but just couldn't grasp. He knew his sister was hurting because of her love for a man who's treated her like a woman and showed her what he couldn't. His problem was the fact the man was a snake and had tortured him and used him as a pawn to keep his sister in line. Shaking all those thought from his head he looked over at her as she questioned his cooking skills. "I can cook." He told her defending himself. "Though it's edible doesn't mean it the best thing out there." He chuckled. "I did have to feed me and Harper." He told her knowing that she didn't understand that he was young doing all this and that she was to small to cook when they started out. "I can't remember the last time Harper let me cook, but she was about sever or eight when I taught her how not to burn the kitchen down." He chuckled. "That's when she started to cook and I retired." He smiled. He loved remembering things about his past but some of them was a double edge sword. The hurt knowing he'd lost his parents and had to grow up fast because of it, but feeling proud like a parent would because of his sister success.

Abby chuckled and nodded. "Aww I see yes burning the kitchen down really isn't something I think we want to put anyone else through so I think if you are to be ding any helping in the kitchen it will be very supervised and maybe just limited to mixing and cutting." she winked and chuckled. They walked into the house together and Abby squeezed his hand gently again. "Okay sire to work with you." she said softly really hoping that he would be able to work it out somehow with Harper, sooner rather than later honestly. It was so hard having their emotional war in the small spaces whens he knew they loved one another..

"Hey, I've never burned anything." He informed her and he hadn't. "My food just was flavorless and bland." He told her, he'd never knew how to work with seasoning or where to even begin with them either. "I'd never been in a kitchen, my dad however did teach me how to cook a fish on a campfire." That was the only cooking lesson he'd had. It was one time they'd been brought along with their master to clean and cook any thing he caught. So he'd learned how to debone and fillet a fish. And it was how he learned to tell if the meat was cooked through and why you should always cook meat till it's no longer red. Granted it wasn't till Harper got older that she taught him that a rare steak was still okay to eat. He frowned as she sent him off to be with his sister. Really that was the last thing he wanted to do right now. Fighting with her was the worst. He left her at the kitchen as he pushed opened Harper's door. He could see her frame softly moving, wondering if she was awake or just stirring from her sleep. Moving to the bed he bumped her hip with his elbow. "Hey kido wake up." He said to her. He watched as her eyes sprung open and she peered up at him. He could see the happiness fleeting. He knew that he had a lot of groveling he had to do. But it would have to wait till they could actually talk about this. He needed her to understand his feeling about Logan, and he needed to understand everything wasn't always about him. She'd fallen for the mans' tricks and lies but he'd never once harmed her. So he really wonder if they were truly either in the right. Moving to sit next to her legs he looked up at her before letting out a soft sigh. "Look I know things between us are a bit rough right now, and I hate that there seems to be some sort of wall between us." He started, her eyes looking on his knowing he wasn't big on talking so this was hard for him. "But I want you to know that no matter what I love you, and I might not like some of your choices, but I will respect what ever you choose to do with your life." He sigh out, he might have just started dating Abby. But he had her here with him none the less. And he knew that even in the short time he knew her she was becoming something important to him. So even though Logan had done things that Carter couldn't approve of doesn't mean he hadn't done something right. And if Harper trusted the man with her heart, then he should trust the man not to break it. But if he did break it that gave Carter all the more reason to break his face.

Harper listened to her brother go on about his spiel, she knew that in the short time her and Logan had been together he'd managed to take down her walls and slip in. But in her defense she thought that was going to be her life. Adapting to it was all she could do at the moment. When her brother finished she sat up before throwing her arms around his neck. "I'm going to hold you to it." She told him, knowing that even if he hated Logan he'd still given his blessing.

Abby thought over the story that Carter had told her while she cooked. She smiled thinking of a little him and yet it broke her heart because little him had not been free. He had to work. There was no play for him like there should be fore every kid. Abby was almost done with dinner and was held way through making the cookies, chilling the batter now. She looked up as Carter and Harper joined her in the kitchen and she smiled seeing them acting more like siblings. She was glad they had worked it out. Abby smiled and drained the water for the potatoes. "Dinner in 15." she said and got out the masher starting to season the potatoes before mashing them up looking at them. "What?" she asked looking at the goofy look on Carter's face. "Do I have flour in my hair?" she asked having had an accident with he flour. The bag wasn't opening and when it did some of it burst out and all over her. she had managed to clean up most of it.
