Harper stopped eating at looked at him. "Why are you doing all of this?" She questioned him, "and I don't want to hear it because you want to make me happy." She told him. "You could have made me happy by not enslaving my brother, so cut the shit, why?" She wanted to know why he was really being this way, had he hit his head. She didn't get it. No man had ever been this nice to her unless he wanted something, she was just lucky her brother had managed to be around to help her see that. Logan seemed to be no different, though the only time he'd ever touched her was by placing a hand on her back or her arm. He was doing this to gain her trust, but why.

Carter looked at her. "I didn't mean to step any boundaries." He informed her, before looking down at his hands. "You just remind me of my sister and her want to be a free spirit," he said. Harper had been so sure that Logan was a great man, and he was only trying to show her things she'd never got to see. But now that they were here he knew the man was a liar and a dirty cheat. He'd do anything to get the things he wanted. "I don't mind you wanted to go out and do things. But after this morning I want you to be aware that I'm going to be a bit more controlling while we're out." He informed her. "So the façade of us dating would actually help." He didn't want to hinder her fun. "I don't want to get in your way but my ability works better if your close, so hovering is ideal for me." He informed her wanted her to understand that if he could always be with in touching distance of her then he would be happy.

Logan frowned. "Because I want you Harper! I want you to be mine in every sense of the word and I know I can't do that with your brother telling you that I am the piece of shit I am and i also can't do that if I force everything on you and keep you captive. I wanted to do this another way Harper but I should just get it out there so you see my intentions. I intend to make you my bride, my wife and one day when you're ready my lover, permanently, not as a whim or a fling I want you Harper and I know what I want." he said and sighed drowning his wine feeling terribly nervous about her next reaction as he watched her. Would she understand his feelings for her possessive as they might be?

Abigail was quest as he spoke and she reached over and placed her hand in his. "I am sorry your family was taken from you Carter. And I would like to meet her some time." she said softly hoping that would give him hope to see her in the future. She wondered what he was like when he was controlling. She took her hand back as the butterflies jumbled in her belly when he said playing like a couple would be better for him. She looked down blushing. She had never really had a real relationship so for her it would be a little odd. "Oh umm I guess if that is what is best but if you're going to play the roll then you will need to sell it. That probably means dancing and at least seeming like you're kicking back. I really don't mind if you drink, I know I will so..." she trailed off feeling her face grow hotter if that was even possible.

Harper froze staring at him, she could believe what he was telling her. Sure they'd had fun, but she didn't understand where these feeling of his were coming from. He'd been nice and she'd thought it was sweet though she, not her brother, put a stop to any advances. "Logan." She started before shaking her head. "It wasn't my brother." She informed him, "I knew that I couldn't be with you with out you finding out about me, I wouldn't put my brother in danger." She told him wanting him to understand that she'd pushed him away because she wanted to avoid all of this. Things could have been different if he really cared for her, but she didn't know how she could over look the fact her brother was living in slavery. She knew that he'd want her to be happy, but marring the man that cause all their pain was pushing it. "I think I'm going to go to bed." She said standing she was still dazed unsure what to do with all the information he'd dropped on her.

Carter chuckled before shaking his head, "I'd like that too." He told her knowing that even if he couldn't stand her he'd say what he could to see his sister. "Well I'll do my best." He said rubbing the back of his neck. He had never been in a relationship, he'd kissed a girl once. But the life he lived meant he'd had to keep secrets and run. And Meta's and Pura's didn't intermingle, so even pretending to date could get him in trouble but it was for her sake and not his. Shifting he smiled at her noticing the blush that crept on her checks, he thought it was cute she cared what he thought. It made him feel important though he knew he shouldn't get his hopes up.

Logan sighed. "You kept pushing for an answer Harper. I didn't tell you for this exact reason. You don't have to understand my intensions to know that this is what they are. Have a pleasant night." he said and stood as she sis. He ran a hand through his hair as she left the room. How was he suppose to handle that whens he kept pushing him as if he had some mallows intensions towards her. He almost believed she would have taken it better if he had said he was just using her for her body and her abilities and would toss her aside when he was done with her. Logan shook his head. No one understood his choice but he couldn't help how smitten he had become with her.

Abigail smiled softly. She nodded. The car stopped and she got out as Alex opened the door. "Thanks." she said and touched his arm tenderly. She cared for Alex maybe not like he did her but their relationship was more of a father daughter relationship then a friendship. Abigail walked with Carter up the stairs tot he apartment. She unlocked it and then stepped inside. She sighed and walked to the couch siting and taking off her shoes. She left them there and headed to the kitchen. "You want some water? Make yourself comfortable." she said and then came out with two water bottles and handed him one opening her own and taking a long drink. She couldn't stop thinking about them even pretending to be in a relationship. "You do realize that pretending to be in a relationship can put us in a few weird situations right?" she asked him and bit her lip as she sat back down on the couch and tucking her feet underneath her looking up at Carter. This was her time to really try to open him up and get to know him. She doubted it would work but she wanted to try.

Harper wandered back towards her room, before she realized in her daze confusion she'd taken a wrong turn somewhere. She looked around her not knowing where she'd wound up. Sighing she moved to the closest window, setting herself down on the ledge and just looked out over the night sky. Her mind raced as she wondered why, why ha Logan gotten these ideas, that it was her brother. She'd liked Logan sure, but had to move enough she didn't want to have to move because she'd messed up. Now she didn't know if she'd ever see her brother again.

Cater took a drink of the water. "It can, but didn't we tell your friends we were just introduced by you mother." He smiled at her, "it's prefect so people don't think I'm your body guard and I'm not treated like at Meta." He sighed. Before sitting next to her. "Also all your friends will feel the need to tell me about you, so I get their biased opinions." He teased her. But he knew that she didn't really want to tell him much about her. She was more curious of him." Not that he minded.

Logan finished eating and then had her food saved for her if she wanted it for later. He sighed and talked with he staff here and there then his security team. Perhaps tomorrow Harper would go out to town and come back feeling like she wasn't quite so trapped and would be less mad with him. Logan sighed and ran a hand through his hair before e started to head towards his room stopping as he saw Harper sitting on a window. "Harper?" he asked softly waiting or her eyes to meet his. "Are you lost?" he asked.

Abigail sighed. "Yeah I guess you're right." she said relaxing for the time being. "I wouldn't want them to treat you any different than they treat me." she said softly and chuckled as he said her friends would tell her things. "And I am sure not all of them very nice." she said and chuckled. "I didn't always understand that those that are different where treated poorly." she said refusing to use that derogatory term for those with abilities. "And there is no one I can talk to about you so you will just have to tell me yourself." she said and smiled at him. Abigail sipped at her water looking at him on the couch. She wondered if he had really changed his mind about her since this morning.

Harper lifted her head to look at Logan, her face stained with tears. She'd tried to do her best and not be weak. But how could someone say they cared for you and do this. She wasn't sure how longs she'd been sitting there or how long the tears had been falling. But she was exhausted and her mental capacity just couldn't take anymore. "I." She started to deny it, because she stopped caring along time ago that she was lost. She'd been lost the moment he'd brought her here. She was struggling to fine herself again, Logan had once made her happy. She wanted that again, but at the cost of losing the only family she's ever known. She didn't think it was possible to like someone but hate them so much. But sitting here in her thoughts, she realized you can love someone but hate the things they do. So why was this any different. She could still like Logan but not approve of things he did or does do. "I am." She informed him, she really didn't even want to worry about going back to her room or even going to bed. She'd be content to sleep right here, if it would have been safe to do so.

Carter chuckled at her. "I knew you were different, but how?" He shook his head. Smiling at her, he watched her. "What would you like to know?" He asked her, letting her take the conversation in a directions she wanted it to go. "Just know I may ask you a thing or two as well." He told her. Knowing that they weren't much different in being sheltered, but he'd earned his money by working hard. She'd just been a brat's child that didn't turn out the way it was suppose to. So hidden away from the world they formed personalities that only someone similar would understand.

Logan felt like his knees had been kick hard in the back and all he wanted to do was fall there in that hallway those tears breaking his heart. He realized then that he had screwed up major but there was nothing to be done for it now. He moved closer to her like she was a cat that had never seen a human before and might run for her life. He crotched down in front of her. She tried to speak her tears choking the words out. He waited for them to come back as her eyes searched his face. He knew his face was laced with concern and worry. When she finally said yes he nodded. "But this isn't about that is it?" he asked softly and nodded. "Come on I'll take you to you're room. You can get some sleep and then in the morning we're gonna write a letter to Carter." he said softly having actually used his name for the first time. Logan held out his hand. "Let me help you... please. I did this so let me fix it the best I can." he said softly acknowledging his guilt before her. It was a terrible thing and necessary.

Abby grinned. "When you figure it out let me know." she said and smiled knowing it was something she didn't really like to talk about but perhaps that had more to do with how her parents had treated her talking bout it. They didn't like her talking about it, not in the slightest. He said he might ask her a few questions and she nodded. "I'll try to answer them." she said and grinned. "Okay." she rubbed her hands together and sank into the couch more as she settled in for their conversation. "What exactly is you're power?" she asked. "You keep talking like it's bigger than life." she said and chuckled. "I won't ask you to show me because that is childish and we're not at that point in our friendship for me to be childish around you yet." she teased truthfully.

Harper looked up at him, frowning. "What the point I can't read." She told him, her brother had done the best to teach her. But she had only learned how to do basic addition and subtractions, things that could help aid her in getting a job. She looked at him, not moving. She didn't see the point in going anywhere. "I'm fine." She told him not caring about returning to her room, only to feel trapped again. "Please don't make me go back." She pleaded tears springing from her eyes again. She just wanted to be alone, but hated the fact she didn't know where she was. She was too tired to really care either. Her emotions were all over the place and right now her brain couldn't keep up.

Cater smiled at her, "my power," he chuckled. "Well how do I explain it." He looked at her, "it's like mimicry." He sighed before turning to look at her, "never had to explain it before but." He lit his hand on fire. "I see someone do something or their ability and I take it." He shrugged. "Like my sister she could use her body's energy and make her skin fiery hot to the touch." He smiled, "I grew up with a few Meta's whos powers have done great in hide me and my sister, its also made me a weapon, and the man before you today." He told her letting the fire die.

Logan frowned. He couldn't just let her sleep on a windowsill. He couldn't believe she couldn't read. "Then we will take care of that. It is not a problem here Harper. And until then we will have someone read them to you. You're brother needs to hear from you and you from him." She pleaded with him not to make her go back and he put his hands on her hers. "Never if you don't want." he said and scooted a little closer. "But as for you thinking you are fine to that I am going to leave you here is another matter Harper." he said and gently swept her up into his arms knowing he might regret this but he took her into another room and set hr gently on the bed. He knelt infant of her and slowly untied her shoes. "Let's get you sleep and in the morning we will revisit all this." he said softly.

Abby smiled as he started trying to figure out how to say it. He light fire in his hand and she gasped excitedly like a cure kid who just saw a magic trick. He explained what he could do and she thought that was so cool. "That is so neat!" she said and then nearly clapped as he put out the flames. She frowned as he mentioned this morning. It had been one of the toughest mornings but she still didn't want to think about it. At that moment she knew knew that she was not getting a nap anytime soon and perhaps sleep would escape her as well. She didn't know if she could be a lone with that had happened and not break for a long time to come.

Harper moved to lay down, but her hand reached out to Logan. She didn't want to be alone, she might regret it later but she didn't trust she'd sleep if someone wasn't with her. "Stay." She whispered out to him, her hand tugged gently on his. She didn't know what she was asking of him, just that she didn't want to be alone. Crawling into the middle of the bed she curled herself into a ball. Feeling alone and miserable.

Cater noticed the change in her attitude as he talked. "I'm sorry, that was careless of me." His hand moved out to brush a strained of hair from her face. "I'm sorry, no body should have to go through that." He told her, before looking down at his lap. "Is there anything else you'd like to know?" He questioned her trying to take her mind away from the situation that had played out this morning.

Logan nodded. He nodded. "Okay Harper." he said and crawled into the bed. He put his arms around her cradling her to him. He smoothed her hair back as he held onto her. He was really worried about her. He wondered if she could even write a letter. He would be sure to get her some studies, perhaps outside of the house to get her out. He would make it work.

Abigail sighed softly grinning sadly. "Thanks." she said and sighed thinking about what else she wanted to know. "Hmm let's see." She looked down at his arm and then bit her lip. "What does your tattoo say?" she asked. Abigail was sure there was a lot she had to ask but she felt like the energy had suddenly been zapped from her but she would still not be bale to sleep.

Harper laid in Logan's arms, her eyes fluttered closed. "Thank you." She whispered out, her body giving into her exhaustion. Finally falling into a peaceful sleep.

Carter smiled at her, before showing her his arm. Allowing her to get a better look at it. He frowned watching her face, "you look like you need some rest." He said before brushing his hand across her face. "You need some rest." He told her, "or we're not going any where tonight." He told her putting his foot down.

Logan nodded and stroked her hair back. "I'll take care of you." he whispered and watched her fall asleep. He kicked off his shoes and then pulled the blanket over them. It would be uncomfortable to sleep in his cloths but for Harper he would. He fell asleep fairly easily with here body heat next to his.

"I don't know what that means." Abby said talking about his tattoo. It wasn't common for Pura to have tattoos and sometimes their languages had slight variations. She felt her body react as his hand moved over her face. It wasn't until she had pressed her hand into his that she realized what was happening. Abby sighed as he told her she needed sleep and even threatened not to let her go out. She chuckled knowing that he really couldn't stop her if she wanted to go. "I don't think I can sleep... well I don't think I can even be alone right now and still be okay." she admitted and blushed looking down.

Harper woke the next morning her body stiff and her eyes sore from the crying she did. Shifting lightly cuddled back into the mattress trying to get more sleep. She knew it was pointless to even bother getting up, since all she'd do is stay trapped in the house, she'd never get a moment alone either to wander, or in her case get lost.

Carter frowned hearing her words. From a young age he was exposed to death. His first owner, the one his parent help him escape from, would kill Meta's just for the sake of it. So he couldn't sympathize with her. "I'll be here," he told her. Knowing that even if he wanted to go somewhere he couldn't. Even if Harper's life wasn't in danger, he was now invested in Abigail. "Come here." He said pulling her close allowing her to rest her head on his chest. "No one expects you to be strong." He informed her brushing his fingers through her hair. "It's okay, after everything you've been through it's okay." He didn't know if he should be doing this, but he was doing the same thing he'd do for Harper. It was in his nature to care for women, it's something that was breed into him.

Logan woke to the staring in his bed. Logan had taken her to his room content to watch over her all night when she had pleaded with him to join her. Logan now had his arms around Harper and could feel her fighting wakefulness. He grinned and yawned. "Wake up sleepy head I have a job for you today." he said and smiled softly. He was going to get her out of the house one way or another today and when he did he would go and find her that in town tutor that would help her with her education because though she was older than school aged now he wanted her to enjoy all of life and if she needed the tools for that he would make it happen.

Abigail was surprised as he pulled her into him. She didn't feel strange or uncomfortable like when her parents or Alex tried hugging her. The was she and Carter where now she could feel only the safety he provided her. She looked up at him a moment then let herself rest into him. She closed her eyes and suddenly it all hit her. The hatred of her own aunt, the confusion of the attack, the sorrow of her aunts death and the concern for her own family. Not to mention the death and manipulation of her aunt on those that had attacked them. The way Carter was strong even though he killed a man and it all could have been prevented. "Sometimes I wonder if my life is worth all of this. Would it not be better to just let them end my life and then those lives that are waisted chasing me might be spared?" she said through the tears that slowly slipped down her cheeks. It wasn't to long before her tears ran out and she curled up a little more falling asleep in Carter's arms.

Harper groaned before rolling over in his arms, her face nuzzling his chest as she still refused to get up. "What could you really want me to do?" She questioned him, not wanting to really hear his answer. She'd finally gotten some sleep and didn't want it to end. She never knew how satisfying sleeping with someone really was. Yawning softly she cuddled closer to him, hoping to seal in any body heat she could.

Carter frowned hearing her words. "Don't talk like that." He scolded her, not knowing how he could comfort her. Holding her was the best thing he could think of doing. He'd never been confronted with these kind of situations. Allowing her to curl up in his lap he held her close, letting his eyes close. He sighed softly letting his body relax, feeling an ease knowing he was safe, able to keep her safe.

Logan smiled. "I want you to get out of the house. I want you to see the tutor I am going to set up for you. I really would like for you not to be so down as you have been and while you are off in the world I am going to see about contacting Abigail to see when we can set up a visit for you and your brother." he said and stroked her hair enjoying the ways he felt against him. He bit his lip as she pressed closer into him. He gently rubbed her back hoping that at some point that he could convince her to get out of bed. He was so worried about her.

Abigail frowned. "I'm sorry." she said. It was the truth in her mind she had never dared to speak before. "I value life Carter, all life even my own despite how much trouble it is. Please don't think that I will be reckless because of these thoughts." she said softly and yawned softly as she snuggled into his arms. Abigail laid her head don his chest. It wasn't long before she was asleep. Abigail was content and felt completely safe with Carter. He knew her on a level no one else did even if he knew less about her then anyone ever had.

Harper frowned hearing him express his want to fix her moods. She couldn't help that he was a jackass who ripped her family away from her. "I don't want to." She informed him not liking the idea of going out amoungst Puras with a guard who's job isn't to protect her. Sitting up quickly she turned and looked at him, hearing him going to set up a meeting with Carter. "Really!" She couldn't help the smile that took over her face. Closing the gap between them she wrapped her arms around d him in a hug, showing him her appreciation and how happy he'd made her.

Logan was shocked when she change 360 on him embracing her cautiously. "Yeah. But it will probably be a while in the mean time I would really like to get you out of the house. If you don't want to go to a tutor though I will bring one to you and we can just go out to the market or where you like together." he said and looked down at her and stroked her hair. "I really just want you to be happy Harper what ever it means I have to do. There are somethings I can't change because what is done is done but I can do my best." he said softly.

Abigail woke up feeling stiff and groggy. "Hey." she said her voice rough with sleep. "What time is it?" she asked and smiled softly at him. It seemed he had sat there the entire time guarding her as she slept. It was an amazing thing. She knew he had to be uncomfortable by now so she sat up and ran a hand through her hair. Suddenly she was nervous. Oh god did I snore? She blushed amazed she had slept at all. She must have been really tired to just pass out like that. "Oh hey how did those earplugs work last night?" she asked him not knowing he thought the little box held pills.
