Story Layouts

It's really difficult to look for a layout in the stories section because most (if not almost all) of the pages are filled with layouts for specific users. For example, I can't create story layouts with my phone so I have to use the ones for the general audience and I had to reach page 100+ to find anything to use.

If there were two categories then that would be easier for users who would like to use one of the general category than the custom made ones for specific stories.

10/10 do recommend. I'm not sure how the staff would be able to implement it correctly but I'm all for it if it's possible.

I think even better would be to have a search bar in the section. You can give many tags to story layouts when you make and share them which is absolutely pointless without a search or category system.

I reccommend this! Because it's annoying having to sift thru tons of layouts made for other users (Even though they could easily just add authors to their stories if they're having story layouts made for thier stories).

This needs to happen.

A search bar isn't that much helpful becauuse you will still get the specific ones made for others. The only way for a search bar to be helpful would be if there was a search bar for each category.

I think it'd still be annoying to sift through the ones that aren't specifically for other people, but also don't fit your story. With a search bar you could search for specific styles of layouts as well, since the layout section is essentially a mess right now. I wouldn't say it's massively overrun with layouts for other people, I threw in a few free layouts only a few months back so I think a search bar would just be more beneficial since then you'll find the exact style you want.

Even so, when I create layouts for other people I always tag them 'do not use'. If people could search the tags they could avoid the ones for other users altogether and find layouts that fit their stories.

I love this idea! And even if this was the only category (for specific users and not), it would still be more organized than it already is. This is something that I would love to see happen.

It's counterintuitive that we're required to tag all the layouts but there's no way to actually find layouts within those tags. And I think the search bar idea would make it even easier since it could be exactly like stories, with advanced options to find exactly what you want. Especially since you claim 80% of the layouts are made for specific people, that would help to narrow down the search.

tbh I think it's more of a 90/10 ratio, the 10% being for custom layouts/specific users. Whenever I make layouts for people, I have them add me as a co-author so I don't have to publish them, but if one user were to tell me they aren't comfortable with that, I'd post it in the section the same way Ella does, so people could filter it out if there was a proper search system in place. In the long run, no matter the actual ratio of custom to public layouts, Ella is right. Even just a simple search bar—which would be much easier to incorporate into the coding than the system you have in mind—would help, especially since there is a tag system already. There's just no way to use it because there isn't a search feature. I think your idea is decent and if it were ever added, cool and I would appreciate the organization but a simple search bar would also ease a lot of these problems, especially since we're required to add tags. A search bar where you can narrow things down to specific layout features would be even better. I think without a search bar, everything is going to get lost, no matter what system is incorporated.

The "do not use" and "made for" are too many. I looked past so many pages to see a few simple layouts.
And there's also the issue of posting fixed versions again and again. Why not edit the one already posted?

Once a layout is posted publicly in that section you can't edit that one, you have to post a new one. I mean, if the issue is more that there are too many layoits you can't use, maybe you could go to a graphic shop and request a layout.

A search bar would mean you could filter through all the ones you can't use anyway.

I just find it pointless to post again and again the same layouts.
I know that you can't edit those, but if you post something and its not working right (because it has happened to me), not being able to edit it, sucks.

We post it again and again so we can get the right one out to the person that needs it, otherwise they'd be stuck with a broken layout. It's not the best system and I wish we could edit a layout without having to post it again but unfortunately it's stuck like that.

The stories layout section needs to be fixed as soon as possble.
