Zack watched in amazement, squeezing Scarlett’s hand for support.

Scarlett cried out loudly in pain as the doctor kept telling her to push. It felt like hours that the doctor’s voice kept encouraging her to keep going but in reality it was only an hour before he finally told her to give Home one more big push. The brunette did, tears of relief and joy streaming down her face when she heard her little girls crying fill the room. She watched as the nurse weighed her, cleaned her up a little and swaddled her before finally handing the newborn to her. “Hi Stella,” Scarlett cooed.

Zack watched, his eyes wide. “Whoa,” he mumbled. He looked down at the baby, smiling softly. “She’s beautiful, Scarlett.”

Scarlett looked at Zack, smiling at him before she looked down at her new baby. “She’s perfect,” she sniffled. She pressed a kiss to her daughter’s forehead, hoping she and Zack could handle Stella and James both.

Zack reached up to gently push Scarlett’s hair away from her sweaty face, admiring her beauty.

Scarlett leaned into Zack’s touch as she stared down at her daughter adoringly. She honestly wasn’t shocked Matt hadn’t showed up but she was still upset about it. He had been so hands on during her pregnancy before she had slept with Zack.

Zack smiled and kissed her forehead. “I love you so much,” he mumbled.

“I love you too,” she mumbled. Scarlett looked over at a nurse when she asked what the baby’s name would be. “Stella Rose Sanders,” Scarlett stated.

“That’s pretty,” Zack said.

“I know you mentioned Stella for a name,” Scarlett mumbled. “And I knew I wanted her middle name to be Rose.” She looked at Zack, smiling as she did. “Do you want to hold her?”

Zack bit his lip slightly. “Can I?” he asked softly.

Scarlett nodded. “You already know how to hold babies because of James.” She carefully handed her daughter to Zack, watching how in love he seemed to be Stella. “You seem more fascinated by her than you even are with James,” she stated.

“She came out of you,” Zack said, looking down at Scarlett. “She’s beautiful.”

Scarlett laughed softly at Zack’s response. “I think she recognizes your voice,” she grinned. The brunette was watching her daughter as Stella looked up at Zack with wide eyes and a toothless smile.

Zack smiled down at the infant. “She’s so cute,” he said, unable to help the grin spreading across his face. He was so overwhelmed by her cuteness, he began to giggle.

Scarlett smiled as she watched Stella smile up at Zack, moving her little arms around in the blanket.

Zack couldn’t help but wish Stella was his, so that Matt wouldn’t be a problem for Scarlett. He hated seeing the way Matt was making her hurt. He glanced up at Scarlett, biting his lip. “I wish I was her father,” he admitted, having no filter.

“She would look different if you were,” Scarlett replied. The newborn was a perfect mix of her and Matt but of course all the brunette saw in her daughter were the physical features she shared with Matt.

Zack sighed softly. “Matt doesn’t deserve her,” he said.

“Don’t,” Scarlett scolded. “That’s not your decision to make.” The brunette carefully took Stella from Zack and began nursing the newborn when she began trying to suck on the front of her hospital gown.
