Red, Whites, Blues In the Sky

Ashley stood in her kitchen as she finished up the finishing touches on a cake she was making. A handsome man had moved in next door and she decided to be neighborly. It was her day off and she had a lot of time today. She worked as a nurse at the local hospital. She worked a lot which meant she was often lonely because of her crazy work schedule. Once she was done put the finishing touches on, she left her house. Then she made her way to the house next door. She lightly knocked and then waited, hoping he would like the cake she made for him.

Steve had been sitting at home in the silence for a couple of hours since being home. He loved the silence once in a while, especially after a long day or days like he had been having the past few days. Being a superhero, as the world called it, was a very tough and tiring job. There was always some sort of evil trying to take over the world, and there was always a bad guy that had to be caught. And lately, it just seemed like every time he turned around there was something bad or evil taking place in this world. As he sat there in silence, Steve looked across the room at his full stocked bookshelf. Filled with many books, all the way from adventure novels to do-it-yourself books. Over the years, Steve had taken the chance to learn new things in every opportunity that he could. While he was sitting in his favorite chair, now reading a book about sailing, he heard a small knock on the door. Quickly marking his book and setting it down, Steve got up and made his way to the door. He looked through the peep-hole and smiled a little to himself when he saw the young woman standing outside his door. Keeping his charming, warm smile on, Steve opened the door. "Hello." He said softly.

Ashley patiently waited. Her smile grew when the door opened, seeing Steve. "Hello" she said sweetly. Her eyes looking him up and down before quickly going back up to his face. "I just wanted to be neighborly and bring you this cake to welcome you to the neighborhood" she said. In her hand was cake that was chocolate and it looked amazing. "I hope you like chocolate" she said softly, handing him the cake.

A soft smile appeared on Steve's face when he opened the door to his neighbor standing there. Looking at the cake, he couldn't help but chuckle. It still brought a smile to his face to see that people in this world still had a generous side to them. Smiling at her, he nodded as he took the cake. "I love chocolate cake." He smirked. "Thank you so much for this." He then looked to her. "Would you like to come inside and enjoy some of this with me?" He asked sweetly, smiling his charming smile to her.

Ashley was a little confused about the chuckle but smiled when he did. She was happy that he liked chocolate cake. Her smile grew when he took the cake and invited her in. "Sure. I would like that" she said, going inside. She looked around it seemed like a typical bachelor pad. Her new neighbor was very handsome and seemed very sweet. "Nice place" she said with a smile.

Steve looked at her and smiled, hearing her comment about his place. "Thanks." He said as he placed the cake on the table. Walking over to the cabinet, Steve took out two plates, before going back to the table. He pulled out a small knife and two forks. He cut two small pieces of the cake. "So Ashley, what do you do for a living?" He asked. He was always trying to work on his small-talk with people, especially in this time period.

Ashley smiled at him when he walked back into the room. "I am a nurse" she said as she watched him. Steve was a very handsome man and she wondered what he did for a living, noticing how fit he was. "What do you do for a living?" She asked him.

Steve smiled at her and nodded to her. "A nurse...that's such an incredible job. In my opinion it truly takes a special person to do a job like that." He said with a sweet smile. "And even though I just met you, I can see that you are one of those type of people...truly incredible." He winked to her. When he heard her ask what he did for a living, Steve couldn't help but chuckle a little. How in the world was he going to tell her what he did for a living. I mean if he was being honest, to the world his job was being Captain America; however, did she know that. "It's a little complicated..." He chuckled.

Ashley smiled as she watched him, taking a bite of her cake. "Thanks" she said softly when he said she was. She was a little confused when he chuckled though, wondering what it was about. "We don't have to talk about it if you don't want to" she said as she took another bite of her cake. If Steve didn't want to talk about his job, she would have dropped it.

Steve looked at her and shook his head. "I don't mind telling you what I do...it's just a little complicated." He said with a smile. "I guess the easiest way for me to explain what I do is that I travel...a lot." He simply said, leaving it at that. He took a bite of the cake and smiled once more. "This is soo good." He looked to her. "You did such an amazing job at this cake...by the way." He complimented her.

Ashley watched him and nodded. "Alright" she said softly. She smiled at him when he said he traveled a lot. It seemed nice to be able to travel all the time. It was something that she thought about often. She dropped the subject as she took another bite of the cake. "Oh thank you. I am glad you like it." She said with a smile inbetween bites.

Steve nodded with a smile, when she accepted his answer of his job being complicated. He watched her as she took a bite of her piece. Not wasting another minute, Steve took another bite of his cake. "This is so delicious." He smirked. "I just can't get over how good this is." He said as he finished up the cake. Once he done, Steve looked to her. "Would you like something to drink?" He asked, placing the plate in the sink.

Tiffany smiled as she ate her cake. She finished hers and then nodded. "Yes I would love something to drink thank you" she said as she got up, looking around the house. She went into the kitchen and put her plate in the sink as well. "What do you have to drink?" She asked him.

Steve looked through his fridge, trying to remember what all he had to drink. He silently scolded himself, knowing that he probably should have figured that part out before asking Ashley. "Well...there's milk, water, sweet tea, and soda pop." He looked to her with a sweet smile. He then made his way over to the cabinet, where he pulled out two glasses. "What sounds good to you?" He asked, heading back to the fridge.

Tiffany stood at the island as Steve looked through the fridge. He was very handsome and he seemed very sweet. She thought about what she wanted to drink before answering. "Sweet tea sounds good" She said with a smile.

Steve smiled at Tiffany, giving her a small nod before pouring her a drink. He pulled out two glasses before pouring some sweet tea into the glasses. Once the glasses were filled, Steve put the rest of the tea back into the fridge before walking back to her. He smiled at her. "One glass of Sweet Tea, for the Sweet Lady." He said with a charming smile, placing the glass down in front of her.

Tiffany smiled as she watched him. Steve was very handsome and he seemed very interesting. She wanted to know more about him. "Thank you handsome" she said when he called her sweet and placed her tea in front of her. She took a sip before looking over at him as he sat down. "You not telling me what you do for a living makes you mysterious a bit" she said with a soft laugh.
