Travis pulled up to the bar, groaning at the situation that he just had to deal with. The bar was already filling up, and he knew that there would be at least one of a few things to calm him down. He hated having to deal with his family. It always landed him at the bar, ready to drown himself in alcohol and girls. He just needed to see his best friend before he got completely lost. He pulled his phone out, sending a message out asking his best friend to show up at their local spot.

"Hey, Trav. The usual?" the bartender Lenny called out as soon as Travis walked in. When Travis nodded, Lenny went to work on getting the bottle of beer. Travis sat down, ignoring the college students next to him for a moment. He could play with them in a little bit.

Nova looked at her phone and smiled when she seen Travis had messaged her. She texted him back letting him know she was on her way. She slid on her converse then pulled her leather jacket over her black tank top. Travis was her best friend and she would do anything for him. She had developed a slight crush on him over the past year but she would never tell him that.

Nova walked into the bar, sliding into the seat next to Travis. "Hello friend." She said smiling. She waved at the bartender who eventually brought over her favorite drink, jack and coke. "So what's up?" She asked, looking over at Travis.

Travis looked over at her and shrugged. "Oh, you know the usual. Momma wants me to do one thing, and Dad wants me to do another. Don't even get me started on my brother," he commented, trying to make light of the situation. It was hard for him to get into the conversation of his family when it wasn't Nova. She was the only one who understood him.

He took the last sip of the beer. "I need something stronger like vodka, Lenny," Travis called out. He always started out with beer, but it would always change to vodka later on. His eyes scanned Nova's face; it was oddly something he couldn't ever truly get tired of. She was his one constant that he needed in his crazy life of a messed up family, girls who were all over him, and never enough alcohol.

Nova took a sip of her drink, "I dont know why you dont just tell them to go fuck themselves." He said as she watched as a shot of vodka waa set in front of him. "Am i going to be carrying you home?" She teased him. He had gotten pretty messed up last time they went out. Though Nova had nights like that as well. He family was just as dysfunctional and her parents favored her sister over her. She thought about it and took a bigger swig of her drink. "Our families suck." She said.

"Amen to that," Travis agreed. He looked over at her. "Let's just hope that we aren't carrying each other out tonight." He couldn't help the light tease, but he knew that they have done it a few times before. At times, he wished for his family to forget he existed more often than they did because he would end up in a bar getting drunk beyond his limit and finding someone to go home to with. It was something that never failed. He played with his glass of vodka before throwing it back and asking for another. "We may end up trying that new all night cafe next door," he tagged on. He was so happy that she had shown up just for the fact that he wouldn't have to deal with this alone.

Nova smiled "Oh no Im being good tonight. Im not getting drunk." She said laughing softly. When he mentioned the place next door she got excited, "I hear they have yummy donuts." She said. She liked trying new things and if it involved sweet treats it was even better. She didnt mind taking care of drunk Travis because sometimes he would sneak a few kisses from her and she would never turn those down.

Travis laughed, knowing that she loved sweet foods. He pulled a cigarette out of his back pocket and lighting up. He sucked on it as he grabbed his glass of vodka now with a bigger glass. He was going to be drunk and he always wondered how Nova was always was so willing to take care of him when he was drunk off his ass. Then he remembered that he did the same for her multiple times, and he always wanted to be the one to be there for her. "You are really the best, Nova," he said, leaning over and kissing her cheek.

Nova smiled as he kissed her cheek, "I know." She said before she took a sip of her drink. She was glad that she was the one he called when he need someone. She finished her drink and watched as Lenny set another one in front of her. "This is mt last one Lenny." She said smiling at the man behind the counter. "Are you going to be crashing at my place tonight?" She asked Travis. He usually did when he got drunk.

Travis laughed lightly. "I was assuming I would be," he replied. He smiled at her. Downing the glass of vodka, he was starting to feel the buzz from the alcohol. As he continued to suck on his cigarette, he looked over at Nova. Lenny poured him another glass of vodka. He held out the cigarette to Nova, offering something she didn't often take from him. He looked at her. "Your house is the best, and plus you know you love me at your house the most anyways," he teased.

Nova laughed softly, "I do enjoy your company." She said as Lenny set a glass of water in front of her. It was nice to not be alone at her house. Usually she had Travis come over and eat chinese on the weekends so she had someone to talk to. Nova bit her bottom lip lightly as she looked at her water. She looker over at him as he drank more vodka. "I better be getting awesome donuts after this." She said laughing.

"You can have whatever you want as long as you don't leave me out on the sidewalk," Travis said, laughing. As he drank more, he knew that Lenny was getting closer to cutting him off. He glanced at Nova. He figured he might as well take her to that cafe before he was too much off a hassle on her in public. He knew that she had her own drinks at her place. "You wanna head over now?" he asked, hearing the slight slur in his words.

Nova nodded, "Yes let's do that." She said. She got up and waited for Travis to pay his tab. She took his hand and led him out of the bar. Nova walked into the cafe and ordered a chocolate peanut butter donut. "Ugh this donut looks amazing." She said as she looked at it in the box. She walked out with him and headed to her apartment. "I'm so hungry now." She said, laughing. She couldn't want to get home and eat her donut. She walked into her apartment, "Beer is in the fridge." She told him as she sat on the couch with her food. "Want a bite?" She asked him.

Travis laughed, looking at her. "You know that I'm dying to taste that donut," he teased as he popped the top off of the bottle of beer in his hand. He smiled as she offered him a bite. As he chewed up the bite, he gave a huge thumbs up, letting her know it was good. He then took a sip of the beer and got a weird flavor of the combination of the two, but he withstood it. He pulled out his lighter and started playing with it. Travis didn't know what has gotten into him in the last few days. He hadn't been with a girl in a while, and as much as he knew it was odd for him, he didn't really want to think too much about it especially with Nova right next to him.

Nova finished her donut then looked at Travis. He seemed distracted, "What's wrong love?" She asked him. She scooted closer to him, "Does someone need a hug?" She teased him. She felt bad that he wasnt his usual chipper self. Nova got up and got herself a bottle of water before she sat with him again.

Travis looked at Nova. "Just lost in my mind, you know?" he replied. He moved closer to her and pulled her in close to his side. He took another sip of the beer, and he knew that he was getting closer and closer to not being anywhere near sober. He kept at this drinking he may start doing something that he has been wanting to do for awhile now even though he told himself that Nova is his best friend and he didn't want to ruin that. He had no idea if she had feelings beyond friendship with him. Plus, it didn't help that there for awhile he was always with a different girl.

Nova smiled, "That is not a good place to be lost in." She teased him as he put his arm around her. "Do you want to watch a movie?" She asked. She figured it would take his mind off of stuff. "I will even let you pick." She said as her arms wrapped around his waist.

Travis smiled. "Eh, you pick. I always love the shows you pick," he said, looking at her. It was nice being like this with her even if the alcohol was starting to kick in a lot more. He reached for the beer and downed the last of what was in the bottle. He kissed her temple as he said, "Pick the movie, babe." He smiled at her as she got up to pick the movie.

Nova smiled as she felt him kiss her temple, “Okay I will pick.” She said, laughing softly. Nova got a comedy that they had always liked and put it in. She sat next to him again and snuggled up to him. She grabbed one of the small blankets she had on the couch and put it over their laps. “Feel better?” She asked looking at him

Travis nodded and leaned into her lightly. He was feeling better that she was here taking care of him while he was drunk and needed someone to comfort him with good movies and even better company. It was a blessing that he had her, and he wished that he knew how to thank her more properly for everything that she has ever done for him. He couldn't even figure out why she was so willing to do so.
